This service was a follow up call from last month in January when I called to have a leaking pressure relief valve repaired on my furnace (boiler system). During the first visit John did not replace the valve as he said it might be due to sediment build up and it may just need to be adjusted/resealed. During that visit he emptied the water reservoir, oiled the motor and tapped on the top of the relief valve. He charged me $115.00 for the first visit. I called him the following month to say the valve was still leaking. He suggested I try a few options before having him come out to see if it would stop the leak. I agreed and he suggested that, after the temperature decreased on the furnace, I let some water run out of the relief valve and tap on the top of the valve to set the seal. This made the leak worse. I informed him and he returned to replace the valve. He spent approximately 30 minutes replacing the valve and emptied more water from the reservoir. The cost for the second visit was $135.00. I paid a total of $250.00 from the two visits and in hindsight feel that the cost of the second visit was too high since it was a follow up to correct the problem I originally called about. I did ask beforehand how much it would cost and he gave me an estimate of 115-140.00 and I did not question the cost at the time. But after talking to others about the services performed, the impression is that the service charge for the second visit and overall cost was too high. John is very pleasant and professional and tries to think of all options and solutions. I would call on John again for service but would discuss the cost more thoroughly with him.

I called John to inspect my furnace as I discovered a valve was leaking. He asked how bad the leak was to determine how soon he should service the furnace. But I said it had been dripping for several weeks and it was not an emergency. He was very informative and assured me that the furnace was in good working order. He made some minor adjustments, oiled the motor and drained the water reservoir. He took the time to explain the functionality of the boiler system I have very thoroughly. He was pleasant and professional.

They were very professional and knowledgeable and were very efficient and quick to respond.We would recommend them to other people. They are in the general area.

John Skarupa is fantastic. I left him a message outlining my problem and by the time he called back (later that day) the folks that had installed the furnace had already come out and diagnosed the problem. When he called back he had also correctly diagnosed the problem without even seeing the furnace! We played phone tag for a while, since I thought I would get an estimate from him to fix the problem, but it turns out the guys who installed the furnace are fixing it for free so I didn't need to use John. If the other guys weren't free then I would have used John in a heartbeat, and will certainly call him anytime I need any furnace work not covered by this other company's warranty.

John was great. I did not know what we were going to find since the furnace had not been in operation for years and the air conditioner had visible missing parts. John checked out everything and explained everything as he went. He was able to fix both the a/c unit and furnace and both were working when he left. A very good experience. I would use him again.

John was unable to come on the day we called him, but he gave us advice for how to keep the A/C running until he could get there. In the meantime, he actually went out of his way to recommend another service company, since her A/C is a Carrier product, just in case there was a parts issue prior to the weekend. He actually called the company on our behalf. This impressed me, that he was willing to go out of his way to make sure my Mother had A/C for the hot weekend (my Mother is in her 80's) to the point that he helped us get in with a competitor.

Mr. Skarupa is fantastic! I truly appreciated all the suggestions he provided and will absolutely have him return for further service.

MY A/C WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY DURING A HEAT WAVE. MY INDOOR THERMOSTAT WAS READING 91% AND THE HUMIDITY WAS VERY HIGH AND UNCOMFORTABLE. I CALLED JOHN AT 3:00 WITH A GOAL THAT HE WOULD BE ABLE TO COME TO MY HOUSE IN A FEW DAYS. HE SAID THAT HE COULD BE THERE THAT EVENING. HE DIAGNOSED AND FIXED THE PROBLEM. HE ALSO PROVIDED SUGGESTIONS TO MAXIMIZE THE USAGE OF OUR A/C DURING THE DAY AND NIGHT. HE ALSO CALLED THE NEXT DAY TO SEE IF EVERYTHING WAS WORKING OK. I TYPICALLY HAVE USED ANOTHER COMPANY BUT WILL SWITCH TO HIS SERVICES FOR ALL FUTURE WORK. JOHN IS EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND PERSONAL.

I called him and he returned my call promptly. Because of a cancellation, he was able to complete the work on the same day I called. He is very knowledgeable and provided many tips for the correct usage of my air conditioner and the correct installation of a furnace filter. (My husband had installed our new furnace filter incorrectly).

Entire job went excellent! John came immediately when I called although my heat pump/furnace was still working (ie:not an emergency). He explained every aspect of his work in detail; provided me with burnt out parts and educated me on function of heat pump. He needed to order parts and called me right back to let me know when they would be in and to schedule time for installation. He even called back 24 hrs. AFTER, job was done to check to see if all repairs had solved the problems and to assure I had heat!

Called owner on a Monday afternoon, hoping to have someone come in by Wednesday. Owner offered to come out to review the problem that evening itself (without charging us extra for the after-hours call) as he thought we would be cold without the furnace for two additional days.

Great. He came to our house within 30 minutes of our emergency after hours call (no heat on a very cold night). Fixed boiler and was very professional and honest.

John returned our initial call within a reasonable time frame. He scheduled an appointment with us and he called to say he would be about 1/2 hour late. That was absolutely fine with me, I really appreciate that he called - so many people do not. He was very thorough and explained everything that he did in detail. He was very friendly and a pleasure to work with.

John is a very professional and hard working man. He is very reasonable in price, too. I mean, literally the prices around here that people charge are just ridiculous. I am very happy with John and everything that he does for me. The maintenance check went just fine and I have no complaints with anything. I would gladly give him a good referral.

Everything went very well. I haven't read anything but good things about John and his work on Angie's List and I parrot all of these. He s prompt, courteous, professional, did what he said he would, etc...But what I liked most is that John didn't try to gouge me. I am rehabbing a duplex to rent it out. Some contractors think Real Estate investors have deep pockets. But not only did John treat me fairly but he looked at the big picture. The duplex only has one furnace and I am paying for tenant s heat. He gave me some valuable insights on ways to save money. For example, we added a cold air return upstairs to help create more efficient air flow. He also suggested strategically locating the cold air return so that in the future I could install another heating unit in the attic and use the same cold air return and have tenants pay for their own heat if I decided to. I also insulated the attic to save money as he suggested. I think I got the best value for the money.

He was very informative. He gave us a lot of advice on how to make the most of our heating and cooling. We've been nice and cool ever since, better than when it was "working" before! He'll definitely be our go-to person for any other AC/heating need.

John was very quick to respond to my call and came out later that day for an estimate. He was very thorough in talking about the different options for the placement of the new vent and answered all my questions about which option would be the most efficient. John came out two times to complete the job. The first was to remove and close off the old duct work and the second time was to install the new duct work and vent. John was great to work with and worked very hard in making sure the new work was installed correctly. He had to cut through a tile floor and 8 layers of sub flooring to install the new vent. It was very impressive that he took the time to do the work correctly. The final cost was a little more than the estimate, because of this additional work that had to be done.

John obviously knows a lot and loves what he does. He's an HVAC "geek" in the most positive sense. He was extremely thorough doing his estimate, told us exactly where he would run new ventilation that was required, showed us how the new units would look and where they would be placed. John was great. The reason we didn't hire him is that he only sells/installs Goodman units and we were interesting in other manufacturers (Trane or Rheem). If John sold these manufacturers we would have selected him immediately.

John is polite and knowledgeable. He was able to answer the many questions I had concerning my 16 year old system and made recommendations as to how best to replace it when the time comes.

Furnace went out on a weekend. Picked one of the top 3 "A" firms from Angie's List for an emergency repair. Response was quick. Repairman honest. Furnace was shot. Called top 3 HVAC contractors on Angie's List for estimates. Two responded immediately to request. Both were quick in response and close in price. Skarupa asks a lot of questions. He looks at distribution. Asks if we have trouble heating some areas because we have so few return registers. And, of course, we did have issues heating some areas of the house. He then included some ductwork rework in his price and still came in lower. These issues were never broached by the other contractor. In less than one day employees removed the old, installed the new high efficiency furnace and put the exhaust through the side wall. They were efficient and tidy. It's obvious this guy loves what he does. He's honest & he is just animated when he talks with you about your furnace. Can't say enough about the quality of Skarupa's work.

John was responsive to our phone calls (unlike another company who never returned our call), prompt, professional, and personable. He attended to every little detail that is involved in an efficiently running heating system, and educated us on cleaning a set of screens that we had overlooked in the past. We were very happy with his visit to our house, plus he followed up with phone calls to make sure that everything was running correctly. We will be using him in the future to do seasonal maintenance on our heating system.

Our furnace had been pronounced DOA by another HVAC company, who never showed up after the first visit, leaving us without any heat in the middle of winter. I found John's name on Angie's List and, based on the great reviews, gave him a call. He was in the middle of rebuilding someone else's furnace, but still told us he'd be there in 2 hours, and he was! He completely cleaned the furnace, replaced an aging igniter and made some adjustments so it would run more efficiently. My husband, father-in-law and myself (all huge skeptics) were so impressed with John's promptness, professionalism, work ethic, and candor. We were expecting to shell out almost $2,000 for a new furnace (based on the first company's diagnosis), and John knew that. He could have taken advantage of the situation, but instead fixed the furnace for a fraction of what we would have paid if we hadn't called him. I cannot say enough how impressed we were with him and his work.

Very good. John seems very reliable and honest. Did a good job and was very detailed in explaining everything that he did, why he did it and what should happen next. Even pointed out some ways that we could save $ in the future.

Terrific experience. John was very helpful and friendly, and wasn't patronizing at all. He responded almost immediately and was wonderful to deal with.
