INSULWISE UPDATED MY INSULATION AND IMPROVED MY HEATING AND AC EFFICIENCY IN MY 40 YEAR OLD HOUSE THIS PAST AUGUST. I CHOSE INSULWISE BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY TO PINPOINT THE EXACT LOCATION IN MY HOUSE THAT NEEDED ADDED INSULATION THEREBY ELIMINATING AREAS OF MY HOUSE THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MORE INSULATION. THIS FEATURE SAVED ME MONEY. INSULWISE ALSO WAS ABLE TO IDENTIFY LOCATIONS IN MY DUCT WORK THAT NEEDED TO BE SEALED INCREASING THE EFFICIENCY OF MY FORCED AIR HEATING SYSTEM.. ALREADY NOTICE THE ADDED COMFORT ON THESE FROSTY OCTOBER MORNINGS. ALL OF THIS WORK WAS COMPLETED IN LESS THAN A DAY. WORKERS WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND CLEANED ALL WORK AREAS AFTER COMPLETION OF THE JOB. I HAVE ADDED TO THE VALUE OF MY HOUSE WHILE ALSO INCREASING THE COMFORT LEVEL OF MY HOME MARTIN S.

For the past six months, I had been thinking about insulation for my older home since the heating and cooling bills continued to escalate. I heard the INSULWISE advertisement on the radio several times and finally in early October 2019 I gave them a call. They immediately set up a date to check the insulation in my attic and crawl space. Brady arrived promptly at the agreed time and spent a great deal of time checking the space and taking pictures. He advised that my insulation was outdated and in very bad condition. Brady then explained the types of insulation available, the pros and cons, and his recommendation for cellulose. This insulation was tight, more dense and compact—it would seal out the cold air. I felt the quote for the installation was reasonable and an install date was set for the following week. The installation was done efficiently and professionally. The installers did a great job of cleaning up! No one would have suspected that I had workers in my house for most of the day! Brady even followed up with me the following day to address any questions or concerns that I might have. I would highly recommend INSULWISE if you have an insulation project that needs addressed. My project went smoothly from beginning to end. All the employees that I spoke to and worked with were top notch! Since the temperature has dropped in the last few weeks, my house has been warmer and much more comfortable. I am anticipating lower utility bills this winter! Thank you INSULWISE!

Andy and his crew were excellent. They were efficient and thorough in the work that they did. They went far beyond what was expected and helped to fix things that they noticed that were not mentioned at first, keeping the quoted price the same. They called before they arrived, they were respectful of privacy and were most courteous as well as being great at what they did. It has not yet been overly cold so it is hard to tell how the house will be with sub freezing weather but I already notice a difference in the attic rooms with 40 degree nights.

Andy and his crew did a great job. We have a ranch built in the 1950s with no insulation in the walls. We hired Insulwise to dense pack insulation between all of the exterior walls. Andy thoroughly explained the process before starting. The people with Andy were very nice as well. They did a good job minimizing the mess as much as possible. I would definitely hire again. We felt warmer that first night!

"When we first did the work this homeowner said the result was great and originally graded us at an A. He then later posted a review here when he changed his mind rather than contacting us directly. I reached out to him and we ended up going out and touching up an area. Another year went by and he then told me a closet on his second floor that is directly against the roof gets warmer than he'd like on warm days. I advised him that closets, or any rooms for that matter, that are not directly heated or cooled with a designated supply duct, and ALSO abut an exterior wall or surface, will always be hotter or colder than rooms that are being actively heated or cooled. This is true of homes that were built last year, much less homes built 70 years ago. I advised him to leave the door to his closet open to allow cool air from his AC system to access the closet space. For added info, this homeowner had a Cape Cod style home. If you've seen the Insulwise website you'll know that we have a web page fully committed to explaining precisely how we fix these homes. We've done hundreds of them, in some cases 3-5 on the same street, in the past 12 years. We consistently create outstanding results for homeowners that we work for, and if you hire us and you're not happy with something, we won't hesitate to come back out and address it. Always call us if you have questions, we'd love to make your home more comfortable AND energy efficient! Kindest regards, Andy Haak, Owner"

Fantastic. This company knows what they're doing and have the science to prove it. All the documentation is sent to ahead of time and gives you a lot of understanding and comfort. They are very professional, efficient and effective. They left the house as clean as before they got here. The work done will certainly lower our gas bills and make the house a lot more comfortable. Insulation in the 1950s is no where close to how it is done today. I would definitely hire Insulwise again for any additional insulation needs. Before & after pics of the attic attached.

For my current project of installing attic pull down steps, building a platform for storage and insulating the entire attic I got 5 estimates. Usually I'm too lazy to get that many proposals but I'm glad I did because Insulwise really stood out from the rest. The price was reasonable and the work was excellent. I would definitely recommend this company.

The team did a great job. The main job was to seal the duct work throughout the house via their machine, and they also insulated a duct exposed in the garage. The team was very thorough, and using the computer we watched as the amount of leakage went down significantly. Along the way, they found that a duct was completely disconnected in the ceiling of our basement. They reattached that and continued the sealing process. There was a very noticeable difference in the amount of air reaching the second floor, now that air isn't seeping out all the seams in the duct work. Highly recommended! Two years later... the difference is incredible! I can't imagine how much money we were wasting before.

The owner and estimator were both professional, thorough, and available/easy to reach when I had questions. I really appreciate their willingness to speak and follow up with me. The team was punctual, professional, and pleasant to interact with. My only complaint is that the house was not kept as neat as I would have hoped for and expected: I found construction dust on basically everything, including surfaces I expected would have been covered (like my bed, artwork, and dishes.) The hassle of cleaning all of this is a bit of a disappointment. Overall, however, I had a positive experience and I'm hoping to feel a difference in the house and my heating bill once winter comes! ***Edit/addition from 10/15/18: The cold weather these past few days has given us a chance to evaluate the new insulation, and we are very happy! Normally at this temperature we’d already be pulling out the space heaters and feeling cold drafts coming into the kitchen, but since the insulation was installed, we can already feel how much warmer and more comfortable the house is! Very satisfied so far!
Response from Insulwise Energy & Comfort Solutions
"I was sorry to hear of the dust from doing portions of the interior walls. I found out later there were holes in some of the plastic drop clothes that we use to cover things and that had allowed some dust to get through. I responded to and apologized to the homeowner and took it up with my team first thing the following day. To prevent this at the end of the job my crew chief has to get signed out by the homeowner as well as scored from 1-10 on cleanliness and quality of work. They are awarded bonuses when they score a 9-10, so usually they are very much "in it to win it" in terms of the clean up. The plastic drop clothes have been replaced and I am not expecting a less than excellent result again any time soon! Regards, Andy Haak , Owner"

My wife and I own an older cape cod home. It was cold and drafty in the winter and hot upstairs in the summer. We thought about installing mini-splits, but before we did we called Insulwise. When Brady came to explain the services they provided, he said "why not keep the heat and air conditioning you have instead of pumping more into the environment." That made a lot of sense. He then showed us that our walls had no insulation. We hired Insulwise to insulate the entire house and also spray sealant in the air ducts. We notice the difference in the temperature of the house as soon as they finished. The house was less drafty and the upstairs was within 2 degrees of the downstairs, instead of being 10+ degrees hotter or colder. We have been very pleased with the results of the work done by Insulwise. Andy was very easy to work with and contact. The crew that came to our house was hardworking, courteous, professional, and cleaned up after each work day.

This is an amendment to my original review of Insulwise. Since that review, there has been more time to study trends in gas and electric usage. There has been a dramatic decrease in both, and I believe that the work done by Insulwise will pay for itself over time. I highly recommend their services.

Insulwise sealed our duct work, added insulation to our attics, built a platform in the attic for storage, and added insulated walls to a closet in our master bedroom. We are very happy with the results. Our home is now cooling evenly, including the closet in the master bedroom. Andy and his team are very professional. They arrived on time and kept a very clean "job site". We definitely recommend them and will use them again if needed in the future.

In the spring of 2018, we decided that it was time to add some attic insulation to the existing insulation in our 40 year old house. We invited in three companies to show their products. By far, Andy Haak, from Insulwise Energy & Comfort Solutions had the most thoughtful presentation and the facts to back up his company’s claims. He educated us very well on what to consider from each of the proposals that we received. We chose Insulwise because the product being sold was superior, and the additional work that we asked to have done was also within the scope of what the crew from Insulwise could do for us. We originally were considering only attic insulation, but we also chose to have rim joist sealing in our basement. We feel that our upstairs stayed cooler this summer, and the amount of dust sifting down through ceiling fixtures has greatly decreased due to sealing around them. The rim joist sealing solved the problem of small bees entering our basement, and we anticipate the basement staying warmer this winter. Andy was the only contractor who actually entered our attic, and he noticed that the ductwork from our bathroom ceiling fan had come disconnected from the attic vent and was just dumping the humid shower/bathroom air directly into the attic. His crew also fixed that issue. The crew that came to do the work was very polite and made every effort to minimize any mess. We highly recommend Insulwise Energy & Comfort Solutions.

Too early to tell. We live in a small Cape Cod style house built in the 50s. Early on, we replaced our antiquated furnace and compressor. Despite this, our upstairs bedroom was an oven on hot summer nights, and the downstairs was frigid during the winter. Personnel with Insulwise were a pleasure to work with and appeared to work hard to seal the house up. However, the upstairs remains uncomfortably warm on summer nights, and we will probably have to add some kind of air conditioning unit. Have not yet had a chance to evaluate the effects of insulation during the winter.

In my 40 plus years of owning a house Insulwies was the most professional company I have hired. The owner, yes the owner and employees showed up at 8;00 AM sharp as planned, they were friendly and very professional. You could tell that each member of this team was very proud of the work they were doing as they offered to show me their progress with each step of the insulation process and explained what they were doing. They did great work and upon completion they cleaned and vacuumed all areas. Just a outstanding job!! Yes I would defiantly hire and recommend Insulwise!

Owner agreed to weatherstrip doors where blower test indicated air leaks. Because it was not in the agreement, had an excuse why it could not be done. They did a good job insulating the attic, and sealing the duct work after cleaning. BUT for the wall cellulose insulation - house built in 1940. I have learned since the install that homes of this age have horizontal fire breaks. Insulwise did not drill test holes to make sure the cellulose insulation completely filled each wall cavity between joists. Though I paid the price shown (which is a premium), the walls of my home are only half insulated (they only insulated the bottom half of each space). Where there were any obstructions (bathroom wall tile, kitchen cabinets, etc.) the company owner had an excuse why it was not necessary to insulate there. I would not hire again. When siding is replaced, I will have the wall insulation done, by another company, and make sure I get the insulation for which I paid. The owner came out right away and reviewed my concerns. checked and found insulation missing from some wall cavities. He came out again within a week, filled those bays and checked if any others were missing insulation. If so, he addressed it on the spot. We notice the improvement already in outside noise reduction. Recommend this company highly.

Got an appointment within a week from when I called. Brady came to do assessment and he shared a lot of good information. He was honest with what they may and may not be able to do. But at the end of the day, he did not recommend any of their services because I would not get enough benefit to justify the cost which could be substantial. I appreciated his honesty and that he did not try to sell me a service just to get a job. I see why they have high ratings on Angie's List and would recommend them to anyone having temperatures issues in their home.

We called for a free energy audit. Xavier came out and looked around the house. and gave us suggestions. He said we did not need the blower door test and that it was too warm (50 degrees) to use the infrared scan. He recommended to add blown cellulose into attic, seal the joint where the cinder block meets wood frame in basement, blow insulation into walls, and clean and seal air ducts. We had a bathroom vent that was venting into attic. He said his guys could put the vent though the roof before they blew the insulation. He also warned us that if we waited too long, that it may be too cold to remove the siding to blow insulation into walls. He suggested waiting no longer then Dec 8 to get work done. He was very professional and explained everything in an easy to understand way. We called a week later to schedule an appointment. We couldn't get work done till Dec 20. We decided to get everything done except sealing the air ducts. I had to work the day that work was scheduled, but husband was able to be at home. He said the crew was fantastic. Unfortunately, it was too cold to remove siding without possibly cracking it. Bob, the crew chief, said he didn't want to chance it. There is one thing I thing that could be worked on. We had to explain three times what we wanted to have done. Once to Xavier during audit, once to Andy the day before work, (that was more for specifics, like if there was a "knee high wall" in bedroom) and once to Bob, the day of work ( he did have a work order, but it wasn't very specific.) I would suggest taking pictures of the rooms/areas that will be worked on, esp if they have a lot of houses to work on. Other than that, Insulwise was fantastic and when the weather warms back up, if the attic insulation was not enough for us, we will be calling back to do the wall insulation.

It could not have gone any better. I found Insulwise through Angie's List and selected them based on the excellent reviews - which proved to be spot-on. The Insulwise guys came to our house within a few days of my initial contact and performed an inspection and series of tests on the structure. They followed up immediately with a reasonably priced (not cheapest but certainly fair) estimate for the work and were prepared to start within a couple weeks. However, we decided to undertake an extensive renovation project and asked that they stay in touch so that we could do the insulation after the renovation work was completed. As requested, the Insulwise guys got in touch with me via email monthly to check on the project. Once we reached the point at which they could start (a six-month delay), they put us on the schedule for two weeks out and honored the original estimate. The Insulwise team showed up exactly on the day they promised and were remarkably professional, friendly and efficient. In just three days, they had the entire job done and keep me informed of issues and progress throughout. Although I'm no construction expert, our general contractor also kept an eye on their work and he was very impressed. I would certainly hire them again, although I suspect that the thoroughness of their work will not require much follow-up work. My wife and I have done many renovations and I can count on one hand the number of subcontractors we've used who did exactly what they said they'd do, when they said they'd do, for the first price they gave us.

They performed some incredible tests including the flow throughput of the house and the use of a thermal camera to identify hot spots. After their initial review they presented several options for maximizing insulation. I was able to select different services as needed with no pressure for other services. I agreed with the fully insulating the attic where they sealed all fixtures including lighting, exhaust fans and smoke detectors. After sealing each, they pumped insulation including the arched ceiling gaps and weighted sealed the attic access with a gasket to ensure no leakage. All was done very professionally and cleanly. They laid tarps and ran the vacuum where necessary. This was done in two visits, one for the review (2-3 hours) and one for the install (4 hours). After this was done, there was a noticeable difference in the temperature of my 2nd floor.
