 + 0 moreHe was very willing to do what I wanted. He seemed reasonably professional. For the most part he did a very professional job. It was just one worker and he cleaned up well after himself. I think he did a pretty good job, but it could have been a little bit better. I think he is more into creating cabinetry, but I just had him altering what I already had. Depending on the project, I might use them again.
Description of Work: Home Services of Pittsburgh was hired to work on my cabinets.

 + -1 moreI called for in home installation of blinds. He called back, spoke with me about the job, said he'd have to call me back becasue he was in a location in which he could not talk (and he had called me!). I have not heard a word from him since. He is not dependable.
Description of Work: He is not dependable. Does not return calls and does not follow-up. Do not use him.

 + 4 moreI originally hired Michael to repair my garage door after a friend referred him. He was able to return the door to its track, then replaced the broken cables and safety coils as well as lubricated the whole thing for smoother operation. While he was there I found out he does all kinds of home repair and miscellaneous work so I had him return to install new cabinets in my kitchen as well as a new countertop and flooring that I had picked out. On other occasions he replaced my front screen door and painted my game room, making sure to protect the furniture and carpeting, and thoroughly cleaned up when he was done. He always arrived on time and I feel that he gave me a good and fair price on all the work he performed.
Description of Work: Michael repaired my broken garage door, updated my entire kitchen by installing new cabinets, countertop, and flooring, replaced my screen door, and painted my game room.

 + -1 moreI didn't question him as far as his prices. He was getting paid good money, $36/hr. When he said he had to take my drawer home, I figured he would really fix it using proper carpentry tools. When it came apart, I realized he'd only used glue.
Description of Work: A wooden drawer came apart and he said he could fix this. All he did was take this drawer and glue it. He didn't put any tacks or reinforcements in it or anything.

 + 1 moreHe came on time. He was clean, responsive, and worked diligently on a number of projects. However, my floors are ruined! I think he was just out for the checks. After telling him I was unsatisfied, he simply said, well you are hard to work with.
Description of Work: He started off doing some handyman work for me. He then took on a specialty job and everything is ruined. He is a carpenter and did several jobs installing storm doors, made a step behind my home with a grab bar etc. He gave me a card that said he was a cabinet maker, and carpenter. So I asked him if he could fix my floors that had lines through them from shrinkage of the wood. He agreed to fix the floors. He reamed out the wood and began installing the new oak strips. The last time he came he was fixing one of the doors he installed. He also applied a stain and was broadly placing the stain with little regard to where he had laid the new floors and where my original floors were. Some of the stain took on the original floors and now it is darker. The floors do not match. He then proceeded to put down sealer over top the poor staining despite my direct insistence that he fix the floors first. He told me this was a bad floor. This is original woodwork, and is now ruined.

 + 2 moreI had such a good experience with this guy. He did the 2 jobs for me and he was great both times. He even put up the mailbox for me in the middle of winter. He is just a joy to work with and very reliable. He is very handy. He can do all sorts of jobs and does them very well. I would love to recommend this great handyman.
Description of Work: He put up a mailbox in my front yard and worked on a shed. He painted and patched up the roof on the shed.

 + 1 moreMatt answered my first call live, and came to see what was needed later the same day. He bought the necessary materials and completed the job within a week. In order to make the storm door latch properly, he fashioned an auxiliary piece of wood, that needed to be attached to the existing frame. Everything was done very well.
Description of Work: Matt replaced a storm door with a new one and installed weatherstripping on a garage door.

 + -1 moreMr. McNash was accommodating, clear in his explanations for his solution, and responsive to my suggestions for the details about the replacement post and mailbox. He returned my call within 24 hours [He had been out-of-town when I called.] He came over to inspect the job within an hour of his call and completed the work the next day. As he was analyzing the job, he mentioned that his primary skill was carpentry, but he seemed interested in working out a solution that was probably outside the usual type of carpentry that he did. I would definitely call him again, especially for work such as replacing counters or cabinets.
Description of Work: He replaced a curbside mailbox. The existing mailbox was supported by a 4'' x 4'' post that was rotting at the bottom. The post was resting on a flanged metal plate embedded in the sidewalk. He removed the post, advised me to purchase a new mailbox and post. I selected a post with a vinyl cover and newspaper holder. This post slipped over a new wooden support and the mailbox attached above the newspaper holder. The replaced wood post had been held to the place with two large screws, which had worked loose. The replacement is held by a bolt running all the way through the post with a large screw on the side.

 + -1 moreMATT RETURNED MY VOICE MAIL MESSAGE WITHIN A DAY. THREE DAYS LATER, HE GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE. THE FOLLOWING WEEK (7/10), MY HANDRAIL WAS IN PLACE. HE WAS VERY PROMPT, VERY PROFESSIONAL AND MUCH MORE REASONABLY PRICED THAN A PRIOR ESTIMATE I HAD RECEIVED. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH HIS WORK. PLUS, HE SAVED ME MONEY ON MATERIALS WHICH I CAN RETURN TO HOME DEPOT FOR A REFUND.
Description of Work: MATT PUT IN AN OAK RAILING ON A LANDING WITH MATERIALS I BOUGHT FROM HOME DEPOT. HE ALSO CORRECTED A BAD HANDRAIL ON THE STAIRWAY.
