Everything was going well, until the chipper truck managed to get their wheels stuck on the inclined portion of my back yard. Who would have thought that truck tires could get stuck in moist, soft, spring turf? During the course of removing the stuck vehicle, the yard got pretty chewed-up. After the truck got unstuck, the driver peeled-out on our driveway leaving about 10ft of double skid marks that cannot be swept away. Most, if not all, of their vehicles leaked hydraulic fluid or motor oil wherever they were moved. For their clean-up, I would have graded them 6/10.

We are planning to widen our driveway and install drainage but due to the slope,grade,pitch, of the yard our contractor said this big old tree had to go before work started. We decided to have the tree removed ourselves so we began shopping around. I thought there was no end to the lunacy and story telling of tree trimmers. I got estimates that made my heart skip several beats and and stories about how this is a difficult job because the tree is close to my house and another maple tree. I kept shopping...... The crew from Greater Pitt Tree Service came out on a wednesday for an initial evaluation of the tree. They laughed when I told them the stories that were told to me. They explained that they had a few different ways to attack this tree removal job. They also explained what different types of trees can present specific challenges to them as tree trimmers but that my tree was not anything they couldn't handle. They also offered to grind down the stump if I desired that service. When I told them this land was going to be excavated they were happy just to take out the tree. We talked dollars and cents and settled on a price. We had a full schedule of projects and it appeared that we would have to schedule this tree removal project at some point in the future. The guys did some checking and rearranging of their own schedule and then asked if it was possible to come back in two days instead of waiting a week or more!!! The crew showed up two days later on friday, jockeyed their boom truck into position, and went to work. Soon enough these adventurous guys were scurrying up and down the tree on gaffs and eventually the tree was reduced to a stump. They cleaned up the mess and left. High quality work and a fair price means I will look to these guys first should I ever need a tree service again. Thanks GPTS!
