Description of Work: Update: Gino's price changed several times prior to actually starting which we worked with. In addition, he changed the basis of what he was going to/willing to do from a work perspective. Since he is the "expert" my husband and I were willing to accept this, however, when we asked for more than 4 lines detailing what ended up being $28,800 in work and a contract Gino became very difficult to work with. In any business one would expect a contractor doing work which exceeds a few hundred dollars to have some sort of contract and detailed listing of the services performed to protect themselves and their client. In requesting a detailed listing of the work effort, payments and some sort of contract, communications broke down and a mutual decision was reached that Gino will no longer be doing this work. Gino has not yet performed the work but as the other reviews have indicated he is very through, helpful in providing data on what needs to be done (we were not going to have our front porch redone but he said that fixing it is useless so we are going to go ahead), how best to do it and what the options are from a look and cost perspective.

I called to schedule an estimate. I was told they would be there on a Friday morning between 8 and 9. I waited until 930 and no one showed up or answered the phone. Finally got ahold of them around 945, at which point he said he forgot about my estimate and please reschedule for the following Monday between 6 and 7, which I agreed to. Waited again and no one showed up again. Never received a call that he could not make it or anything. Terrible experience.
Description of Work: None, since he never showed up the two times he scheduled to be there for an estimate.

I called Gino for an estimate in April. It took a few days to schedule Gino to come because of our conflicting schedules. Gino came by on a day that was mutually convenient and took the measurements and called back the next day with a price. The price was very comparable to another estimate I had received. It was Gino's good reviews on Angie's list that made me go with Gino. The other contractor is not on Angie's list but had done a job for my neighbor. Gino was backed up 4-6 weeks when we spoke in May. I pushed it back to July so as not to not conflict with our vacation. A week before the start date, Gino came out and gave us a detailed written proposal that we had agreed to on the phone. While I was talking to Gino, my wife asked if we could do something other than regular concrete. Gino told us that he wanted us to be completely satisfied and suggested we go with exposed aggregate. He took us to three different properties that he had done similar work recently and if that was not enough, he gave me the address of a 4th job that also looked good. We agreed that was what we wanted to do and were comfortable that the extra cost for doing exposed aggregate was worth it. We have been receiving complements from all our neighbors as they walk by our house after the job was completed. Two of my neighbors have asked Gino for estimates to redo their driveways. Gino and his crew worked on my project everyday for 7 days to complete it on time. They always showed up on time and did a professional job. The excavation guy was very good with the bobcat and the backhoe that he used to excavate and level my driveway with new gravel. Gino did not try to take any shortcuts, to the contrary, he did many things that were above and beyond what we had agreed to in the contract. e.g. he widened the driveway where it turns to make it look better than the old driveway, he took off two rows of brick at the end my patio where it meets the driveway to make the transition from the driveway to the patio smooth and even. Gino answered all my questions patiently every day. Being an engineer, I asked a lot of questions and Gino was very patient. For a modest fee, Gino got about 5 yards of top soil and finished the landscaping once the forms were taken out. Gino gave me suggestions about seeding with the right kind of grass seed, watering etc. before leaving. I am very happy with how the project turned out. I will post some pictures once I get around to taking them. I am happy that I went with Gino for this project and would definitely use him again for any other concrete work.

Gino returned calls (exceeded my expectations as the greater percentage of contractors do not - schedules are full). His estimate was among the lower of the 4 estimates I received. He had good ideas. His team arrived promptly each day. The driveway has style - he took his time & added a few unexpected features - rosette design, flares at the beginning. He also narrowed the approach - looks much nicer. The driveway slopes away from my house which adequately allows rain water to flow into the lawn. Other contractors suggested adding drains which would have been more expensive (& drains clog). The driveway is now level with the garage which required the steps to the lower deck to be removed & redone. Gino did this himself with the available material. No other contractor offered to do this - this would have been up to me. He came back after the driveway dried & filled the spaces lining the driveway with topsoil. The team cleaned up after themselves. He even helped my kids (both watched every minute of the 3-day show) put their handprints in the driveway. This is the guy you want to hire.
Description of Work: Replaced omnistone driveway with concrete. Driveway slopes down to a large base which meets a retaining wall.

I am sure this job was an absolute nightmare for Gino. I had an existing, very thick (nearly 2 ft thick) cement patio that was done only about 3 years ago. It was cracked, unsightly and dangerous b/c of how high it was on one end. It had to be demolished by jack hammer and removed by hand b/c I have a privacy fence and gate that could not accommodate machinery. Once removed, Gino redesigned the entire patio, making it larger, lower (and safer) and added steps in appropriate places. His skills are remarkable! The new patio is a beautiful exposed aggregate which compliments my house perfectly. He and his crew worked tirelessly for days until the job was finished and flawless. What was once an eyesore is now a beautiful outdoor room. Thanks again Gino!!

I called Gino in late February to get a patio quote because I heard that he was very good and I expected that his calendar would fill up quickly. He came over the night I called and gave us a quote for the entire job the next day. We selected him over 3 quotes and he said that he would be able to start in mid-April which was within our schedule. Because the weather was outstanding in March he was able to come out 4 weeks early to get the job done. It took about 4 days to do all of the work but it all looks great.
Description of Work: Gino and his crew put in a large semicircular patio for our hot tub and also put in a 40' walkway and a set of 6 stairs. The work was incredible and I would highly recommend Gino to anyone.

Our concrete project was part of a bigger project to put a new front porch/roof on. We had already interviewed many concrete contractors and selected one back in the Fall of 2010. Due to other delays along with, and the eventual delay of the concrete contratcor we found ourselves in the rainy Spring of 2011 still waiting for the needed concrete pad to be ready for eveything else to get started. After sevrela months of delays and excuses, I joined Angies list and re-interviewed concrete contractors. I got 2 who never called back, 1 who came out who I liked but never called with a quote, 1 whose price was outrageous, and one who I didn't care for, Then there was Gino - he was a breath of fresh air - he called right back, was prompt for his appointmnet, quick and knew his stuff and had some good advice the other 15 contractors had missed. My husabnd and I said the way our luck was, his price was going to be 10 times the price of the others. His price was actually one of the best so we went with him. We did not have a single problem with him or the crew and the work was fabulous. He got along well with the other contractors who had to be fit in with his work (electrical) and accomodated my multiple phone calls and visits from my Dad too check the location and shape of the sidewalk and steps etc. A great job and a fair price.

I had used Gino once before when I needed cement work done and that was so fabulous I asked him if he could build a retaining wall for me. He agreed. Gino showed up right when he said he would and got right to work. He got the wall done in three days and it is beautiful. The price was right! He cleaned up so well that I had company the evening that the wall was completed and the person could not believe I had construction going on that after noon. Gino is a hardworking honest man. I highly recommend him. His work is the best in the business. Awesome. I cannot say enough good things about Gino. If you want the job done right at a good price, go with Gino!

Gino was very responsive to our initial phonecall, appearing quite quickly and providing an estimate. He was very professional and very knowledgeable and took the time to explain the whole process. He pointed out a real problem for our dirveway related to roof run-off and came up with a reasonable solution to address it. Other bids for our driveway did not say anything about this issue. That iced the cake for picking Gino to do the job. The job itself went smoothly, a day to excavate the old driveway, a day to set the molds, and a day to pour with some additional time to follow up. All in all it was a great consumer experience and we have gotten nothing but great comments from the neigbors.

I solicited bids to replace my existing concrete patio (24x12) and replace it with a larger patio (26x18). I contacted Gine, we arranged a meeting time. He arrived 45 minutes early (7:45am on a Sunday), and spend significant time looking at the project and making suggestions for improvement. After he suggested exposed aggregate, he took my wife and I to two jobs where he had installed the same material previously (reading other reports I see he does this a lot). We settled on a price, and he started work a week later. As far as quality, there are a few spots where the concrete hardened too quickly and he couldn't quite get the 'exposed' look. There are also a couple of low spots, one of which i pointed out during the pour but he insisted that it wasn't really a low spot. But neither of those conditions detract significantly from what is a really beautiful porch. Pricing is really excellent -- I doubt that you'll find anyone who is as communicative and skilled as Gino at his price level. The only caveat I would make is that Gino is surprisingly opinionated about aesthetics. I wanted him to cut the control joints a certain way and he basically refused, telling me that would ruin the look. I had to negotiate with him a bit and find a common ground. But this is a truly minor point and I would not at all let that stop you from engaging him in work. I highly recommend Gino for any concrete work you need to have done.

I contacted Gino LeDonne Concrete for an estimate on putting in a concrete driveway where my gravel driveway then existed. I was afraid of what the estimate would be given the length of the driveway. I received a call back within a day or two and Gino was at my house the following Saturday to measure and provide an estimate. Gino measured and explained what work would be done, including installing drains at the bottom of the driveway, 5" of concrete w/ mesh and joints, etc. He also measured for the sidewalks providing for a cut-out for a tree. Within days I received a pleasantly surprising estimate on the driveway. I usually get at least 3 estimates on work that needs to be done at the house, but I didn't even bother getting a second estimate. I trusted him the minute I met him and my instincts proved to be right on target. We scheduled the work to be done the third week of July. Unfortunately for Gino and the workers, it was the hottest, most humid week of the summer. The soaring temperatures and unbearable humidity did not slow them down a bit. They arrived at the house early in the morning and began working immediately. At the start of each day Gino showed me what work would be done on that day. On each of the days, Gino was the last to leave the job. The job lasted 4 days. The first day was excavation, the second was grading, gravel and some of the mesh and molds were placed, the third was the day the driveway was poured and the last day was clean-up and landscaping--yes, he even brought topsoil and grass seed! The excavation was done with the precision of a surgeon...I never thought the driveway was as big as it truly is...the edges were perfectly chiseled where a retaining wall already existed which made for an almost seamless look in the end. On the day of the pour--a Saturday--about 10 workers descended on the house with Gino and a giant cement truck and poured and finished a flawless driveway and sidewalk. I had to wait a week to park on the driveway and when I was finally able to, it was wonderful. I've had concrete work done at the house previously, and the quality pales in comparison. Thanks again Gino!!!

Mr LeDonne left his helper alone for over three hours to work alone. He moved furiously to get the work done. There are spots here and there that I can see. He put the wrong number color dye in the steps. I had to keep checking to make sure that the front railing was straight. Overall, the work was pretty good. The price was very good.

Gino was very helpful and courteous. He took time to explain the process of the job, suggested a concrete style (exposed aggregate) and what to do with the steps leading up to the kitchen (recommended to go with a deck rather than cement block steps). He also took time to show me his work on 2 homes (1 to see exposed aggregate, and 2 to see cement block steps). In the end, we decided to go with a one level deck rather than smaller deck/concrete patio combo.
Description of Work: Provided an estimate for approximately 13x15 exposed aggregate concrete pad.
He did a great job. He worked very well with us. I live in Philadelphia, and the job was done at our rental property in Pittsburgh. We found him on the List, and he responded to us. He answered all of our questions and contacted our tenant, like I asked him to. There were no hiccups.

Overall, it was a good experience. His helper did not do the job he was supposed to do and actually put a big scratch in the brand new driveway, which upset us a little. Mr. LeDonne did come back and finish the job that the helper was supposed to do.
Description of Work: They poured an entire new driveway. Completed when he said it would be, so no problem with that. He said he would be back in the winter to check it, but has not yet - may in the future, hopefully. Cleaned up all his work. In response to this report, one referral did call me and I did return his call promptly, as I do all my calls, he was on vacation and when we did hook up, once he told me his location, I then told him it was much too far for me to travel. No problems, he knew what he was doing. I would highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Gino put a new driveway in for me. I had a pretty long and curved driveway. He gave me a fair price, and started the job within a week of the quote. He did all of the excavation and preparation for the driveway himself. He had a crew with him the day that he poured the concrete and they completed the pouring of the driveway in one day. He really knew what he was doing. I chose an aggregate concrete, which required the concrete to be covered over with plastic after pouring, and returning the next day with a power washer to wash off the top surface to reveal the stone pattern underneath. Later, in the same day, he came with a helper and applied the sealer. The whole job took only 4 days. I was impressed! Gino does good work and he is very gregarious and friendly.

Gino is just one guy with a dump truck, but he is extremely efficient, and brings people in as he needs them. For my driveway, he came on Thursday morning, and excavated everything with a Bobcat. We ended up finding a huge rock that needed to be jackhammered in order for him to be able to make the approach less steep. On Friday, he showed up with a helper, and they jackhammered the rock, smoothed everything out, and set up the forms. On Saturday morning 07:00, they were already pouring the driveway. The finishing crew that Gino brought was GREAT. These guys have definitely done this before. They worked together like clockwork. Even my neighbor who had his driveway done several years ago was very impressed with Gino's work. The driveway was DONE by 2:00 PM Saturday. On Monday, Gino came to remove the forms and cleaned up. On Thursday and Friday it was really hot, but that didn't slow down progress at all. Overall, the job went GREAT. Gino is willing to work with you on any aspect of the job. In my case, I had a great place where he could dump the old pavement which saved me lots of money. Gino is Fast, Efficient, and knows concrete as well or better than anyone.
Description of Work: Beginning this summer, I started getting estimates for replacing my driveway. The 20+ year old pavement really needed to be addressed. Gino came out, measured the driveway, and called me back a few days later with a price. The price included excavating the pavement, re-grading the approach, and replacing it with 5" of concrete.

Gino was fantastic. Because it was a tree root that had disturbed the sidewalk, and we live in the city of Pittsburgh, we had to go through the city to deal with the removal of the root. He dealt with the city for us, and filed all the necessary paperwork. While it took the city a while to remove the root, he was ready to pour the concrete as soon as they were done. He also removed and replaced a retaining wall that was collapsing, and removed and repaired a concrete pad that was being pulled down with it. Both items look fantastic now. Gino showed up early and worked hard, even through the heat wave we had. He paid attention to every detail, and we will definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Gino removed and replaced and sidewalk that had been disturbed by tree roots, rebuilt a retaining wall, and built a small pad for a deck that sat atop it.
