Final product is beautiful. We use it all the time. George and his team did great work. There was a hiccup in the process, when the roof was designed it ended up needing re-engineered which ended up costing us a little more than expected. I don't usually hold this against contractors because this wasn't done in a malicious way. George also found an issue with some structural wood in our home and before he began construction on the deck he made sure to repair that also. He is a stand up guy.

George Hunt Construction did an amazing job on our deck! We were very pleased with the work and worth ethic. They always showed up, through sun, rain (even snow a few days), gave 100%, and was very trustworthy. I would highly recommended their services for any decking needs. We also had lighting done and it turned out beautiful!

George Hunt of George Hunt Construction did an amazing job on our basement. From the start George worked with our vision on what we wanted our basement to look like. He was honest and clear with his quote and the time-line of his work. George has a amazing crew and they worked hard to complete the job with integrity and perfection. George's passion for creating is apparent in all his work and is not afraid to try something new to make his customer happy! George and Russ were like family for the time they were at our house! They could always be trusted to work hard and honestly I would recommend George to anyone seeking work for their house!

Mr. Hunt had to remove a poorly built deck that had caused serious damage to our basement wall which was allowing water to run between the exterior brick and inside wood framing. Mr. Hunt literally saved the collapse of the wall which would have been devastating to our home. He constructed a new wall inside and redid the outside masonry as well as removed the old deck. Mr. Hunt built a beautiful new deck and stairs. He was extremely professional and took the time to listen to our concerns with genuine care. Due to his work, my wife and I know that our home is more sound now than when it was originally built! I would recommend Mr. Hunt VERY HIGHLY for any construction needs that you may have.

We are extremely pleased with our new Trex decks installed by George Hunt. He is a Trex and deck expert. George understood the importance of making sure that the necessary prep and foundational work was done before the deck was installed; he was able to recommend excellent contractors for the other projects. George and his team have very high ethical standards. We also appreciate that George was always present and working alongside his employees.

I hired George Hunt to build a Trex deck last year. He was professional about estimates and issues with the build. I needed a dog ramp for my dachshund since the deck is over 5’ high . George worked with me to design a highly useful, yet attractive integral dog ramp to my backyard. His crew was courteous, helpful and worked very well together. The lumber needed for the deck was high quality, as was the decking material. I was impressed with the careful work they did and with the results. I love my new deck and have used it for most of the seasons. I love the views I have from the deck. My dog also enjoys the views and the cleverly constructed ramp. I am so glad I hired George to do the job.

George and his team added a large trex deck for my family and we couldn’t have been happier. After meeting with several different contractors, George was the only one to suggest a solution that fit our needs instead of telling us it couldn’t be done. When he and his team arrived they were polite, professional and meticulous. Every detail was accounted for and we ended up with a gorgeous deck. Since that time we have referred several neighbors and friends and all have been equally happy with George!

Generally, it went very well. George is very knowledgeable, responsible, easy to reach via phone, text and email and very responsive to customer remarks and requests. We will certainly and with no hesitation hire George again and highly recommend him. George is also highly rated in Better Business Bureau where we found him initially. With the above, we are giving four stars instead of five solely because paint job in some areas did not meet our expectation. And the star system falls short of expressing how a customer values a professional. Our rating it is more of a 4.5 stars. In hindsight, It could have helped if knowing that a combination of Benjamin Moore paint mixed with primer was going to be used instead of the traditional primer plus paint coats. We would have stayed with the traditional process.

Over my 50+ year career, I have had to make choices of suppliers…although the processes may be different between work and home, you recognize outstanding suppliers when they rarely occur. Their commitment, responsiveness, their professionalism, their willingness to listen, yes…the value for the work, their follow-up and ultimately the end result. You would think that those attributes would be the character and service of all suppliers. Sadly, it’s not! George is one the rare professional suppliers that I have come to know and respect. My wife and I are very pleased with both decks. Everyone compliments us on both the work, the look and color choices. We enjoy these outdoor spaces and the curb appeal is often remarked by neighbors walking through our neighborhood. Would we recommend George Hunt, no question…yes, we would! His Christian faith guides him, and his work and respect of you will please you on your project. I would consider George Hunt as the ultimate in his field!

George offered a great design solution (i.e., framing the deck with a darker color). During the course of the project, we made some design changes to allow for a larger deck and better placement for the stairs. George willingly accommodated these changes and offered excellent ideas for improving these changes. Overall, the deck construction is solid and the finished product is beautiful.

I am lounging around here waiting for the contractor to come this morning. The truth is that he is not coming this morning. He had to take his wife to the doctor for a check as she is pregnant. I don?t know when her appointment was but he told me he would not be here until sometime in the afternoon. First, why would he need to take 6 or 7 hours off a job when, by his own words, her mother lives near and usually takes her. It isn?t like she was sick or something?this is a routine Dr Visit for her pregnancy. Seems like d*** poor work ethics to me, or am I being too tough? This entire thing has been such a disappointment and I just don?t know what a person could do about it. How do you pick a reputable person to do work for you? He has references, license, and insurance. What more can you look for? It is almost impossible to discuss anything with him because he thinks everything is really well done. He thinks that he has done 1st class work and it is very hard to explain your displeasure to him. On top of this, he cries! While I was talking to him he started to cry, now what the h*** do you do when a grown man stands in your living room and cries? He even got down on his knees and laid his head on the table while tears dripped off his chin. Now you tell me--------What the h*** was I to do?? LMAO or what???? I felt so d*** stupid during all that, when Joyce got home it all made her so sad for him. I think women are such softies. (I kind of like that in them though) Well enough of that crap. I just don?t know when he will ever finish. One more little bit of information. This would be funny if it was so sad. Yesterday he broke a pipe in the bathroom and had water spraying all over the place. It went into the ceiling and come dripping all over the living room. He then put all the cushions from the couches out in the yard to dry. (The couches are white) Joyce s*** when she came home and saw it all. Water dripping through the ceiling made the paint peel all over and you know it was all soft from being wet. I wish you could have seen his fat partner running down two flites of stairs to shut off the water-----yup you heard me right, he had not shut off the water before beginning to work on the pipes. H***, they didn?t even know where the shut off was and I had to show him. In his state of panic I didn?t think he was ever going to find it. I couldn?t go down there with him because of my legs so I had to talk him through it. Here it is in a nut shell: Paint peeling off ceiling and wet, sofa cushions still wet, carpet wet, I am worried his helper might have a heart attack and the contractor is really crying now. I try to tell this story with a bit of humor so go ahead and laugh. I am laughing to keep from crying with my contractor. Am I being to tough on this man? I will keep you posted on the episode of the remodeled bathroom. He did so many things wrong that i can't list them all.
Description of Work: George Hunt tried to remodel my bathroom. He is completely lacking professionalism, skills in any of the building trades areas, and is overall one of the sloppiest persons I have ever come in contact with. He broke a pipe over my living room and because he never shut the water off, he flooded the ceiling in my living room. We still have plaster falling off the ceiling. After we picked out items for the work to be done, he attempted to substitute sub standard products. Sometimes he succeeded in sneaking things by us. He just did so many things wrong that we shall never recover. A year later and we are still discovering new things George screwed up. Feel free to contact me. I wish I could save the world from Mr. Hunt.

I was working with Mr. Hunt to complete building a 5'X13' wood porch structure and roof that a prior contractor started but did not finish. The beginning started out well as Mr. Hunt was very responsive and kept in contact with me. The original price I was quoted was $2,500 to complete the porch/roof and what was in place at the time of this quote was three 4X4 posts and the frame to support the roof. A few days before Mr. Hunt was going to start the job, the local building inspector stopped by and told me I needed a permit. I assumed that since I was replacing an existing structure I did not need a permit but that was not the case. As part of this the original porch/roof that the previous contractor started but did not finish had to be removed. The additional work that would need to be completed was installing two 4X6 posts had to be used to support the structure, as well as 36 inch deep concrete footers for the two 4X6 posts. The girder frame also had to be rebuilt to fit the new 4X6 posts. Once I had the permit figured out and what was needed to be torn down then rebuilt, Mr. Hunt came back with a new proposed price. His price was now $6,000. Obviously I was taken aback by this drastic price increase, so I asked Mr. Hunt to detail out the price for me. Upon review of Mr. Hunt's estimate I determined that he was now going to charge me $4,300 for the same work that he was originally going to charge me $2,500 for. I asked Mr. Hunt how the price increase came about and explained that I viewed it as an attempt to cheat me. Mr. Hunt never responded to my inquiry. I also noticed some very questionable prices, such as: $600 to install ten linear feet of gutters $150 to install two (total) downspouts off of the gutters $900 to dig two footers 8-10 inches in diameter (size was as per Mr. Hunt's estimate) 36 inches deep and fill them with concrete (16 50lb bags - 800 lbs, of concrete as per Mr. Hunt's estimate). This was very expensive to me and since the only reason I was hiring a contractor to finish this job was because I do not like being on ladders, I rented an electric breaker to get through my concrete patio and poured the footers myself. All told it took about three hours, four 60 lb bags of concrete and about $75 for the footers that were marked by Mr. Hunt and signed off by the local building inspector. A far cry from the $900 Mr. Hunt listed. $1,150 to install shingles, tar paper and flashing for the roof. It is important to note that there was to be no removal of shingles and that Mr. Hunt and I agreed to $75 to remove the existing structure. Also, this price did not include any charges for the rafters or plywood; this was strictly for shingles, tar paper and flashing. The rafters and plywood were an additional $600. Even with all of this, I continued to try to work with Mr. Hunt because he had a deposit of mine which according to the contract was not refundable. Now, if anyone would see the contract that Mr. Hunt provides, it is vague at best. In order to finish the porch/roof for me he had five line items listed in the original contract. If I would have known how all of this was going to play out, I certainly would not have signed a contract with Mr. Hunt. After nearly two months of going back and forth with Mr. Hunt on the price I thought we came to an agreement and that this ordeal was finally going to be behind me. I was again wrong about Mr. Hunt. I came home one day to a note left in my door, along with about $200 worth of materials. The note basically said that Mr. Hunt was declaring the original contract null and void. I replied to Mr. Hunt to inform him that he does not have the authority to declare the contract null and void and to ask for a price break down on the materials he left. I asked for a price breakdown because his claim was that the materials cost $655. Mr. Hunt did not reply. I have the majority of the conversations with Mr. Hunt in my email because early on I had the impression of double talk from Mr. Hunt. As mentioned above I will be taking these emails to the PA Attorney General. So in summary, I would not recommend hiring George Hunt Construction based on my painful experience.
Description of Work: Mr. George Hunt of George Hunt Construction was contracted to complete building a 5'X13' wood porch structure and roof that a prior contractor started but did not finish. What should have been a few days worth of work turned out to be one of the more painful experiences I have had in dealing with a service provider. Ultimately Mr. Hunt did not complete the porch/roof and I am currently filing a complain with the PA Attorney General to get a refund of my deposit money.

Response from George Hunt Construction
There is a 10 page thoroughly detailed deposition letter that I sent to the PA general arbitration lawyer that was assigned to mediate the member's complaint that he TRIED to bring against me and my business. I want EVERYONE to KNOW & UNDERSTAND that this case NEVER went ANYWHERE. HE TRIED TO MAKE MANY FALSE CLAIMS AGAINST MY BUSINESS BY FALSIFYING THE INFORMATION TO SUIT HIS DERRANGED THOUGHT PROCESSES REGARDING WHAT HE WANTED TO CLAIM TOOK PLACE, BUT FOUND OUT VERY QUICKLY THAT HIS ALLEGATIONS AND BLATANT LIES DID NOT HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON IN FRONT OF THE PA STATE ATTORNEY"S OFFICE!!!! ONCE MY DEPOSITION LETTER WAS REVIEWED BY THE LAWYER ASSIGNED TO THE CASE, I GOT A PHONE CALL FROM THE VERY LAWYER ASSIGNED, STATING THAT MY RESPONSE TO HIS ALLEGATIONS WAS SO DETAILED AND WELL EXPLAINED, AND GIVEN THE TRUE FACTS OF THE CASE, I WAS TOLD THAT HE DID NOT HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON, BUT SHE INFORMED ME THAT HE DID HAVE UP TO 30 DAYS TO GIVE A RESPONSE, BUT IF NONE WAS GIVEN, SHE WAS DEFINITELY GOING TO DROP THE CASE. AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT TOOK PLACE!!! HE NEVER DID RESPOND TO MY LETTER AND THE MEDIATION PROCESS AND ALLEGATIONS WERE COMPLETELY CEASED AND COMPLETELY DROPPED WITHIN 30 DAYS. I WANT TO ADD THAT JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE POSTS SOMETHING DEFAMING YOUR CHARACTER OR FALSELY ACCUSING YOU OF SOMETHING, DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT WHAT WAS WRITTEN IS PROBABLY NOT TRUE WHATSOEVER. JUST BECAUSE YOU READ SOMETHING ABOUT SOMEBODY, DOES THAT REALLY CHANGE WHO THAT PERSON IS, OR WHAT THEY STAND FOR, OR WHAT THE ACTUAL TRUTH REALLY IS???? NO, NOT AT ALL!!!! ANYBODY CAN WRITE LIES OR MAKE UP ALLEGATIONS THAT THEY CLAIM ARE TRUE AND CLICK A CHECK MARK BOX THAT CLAIMS THAT THEY ARE TELLING THE TRUTH!! BUT ASK YOURSELF, DOES THAT MAKE THEM TRUE????? I STILL HAVE TO RUN MY BUSINESS WITH THIS PATHETIC AND ABSOLUTELY FALSE REVIEW POSTED ON THIS REDICULES AND CROOKED WEBSITE THAT TAKES PEOPLES WELL EARNED DOLLAR TO WHAT? MAKE UP DERRANGED LIES AND COMPLETELY FALSE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST INNOCENT AND HONEST INDIVIDUALS LIKE MYSELF TRYING TO MAKE AN HONEST LIVING TO PROVIDE FOR MY WIFE AND KIDS. THIS REVIEW WAS POSTED BACK IN 2011, AND UP UNTIL 4 DAYS AGO (AUGUST 18, 2012 - a year + after the fact) , I HAD NO IDEA THAT THIS REVIEW EVEN EXISTED!!! HOW IS THAT FAIR TO ANYBODY, IT IS NOT!!!! I THINK THIS WEBSITE IS COMPLETELY UNFAIR TO REAL, HARD WORKING INDIVIDUALS LIKE MYSELF. YOU THE CONSUMER HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO REAL WAY OF ACTUALLY KNOWING THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE READING, ESPECIALLY IF THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RESPONSE GIVEN BY THE OTHER PARTY INVOLVED!!!! THERE ARE TWO SIDES TO EVERY SINGLE STORY OUT THERE! AND AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, ANY ONE PERSON CAN CLAIM THEY ARE TELLING THE TRUTH, BUT AGAIN, DOES THAT MAKE IT TRUE??? I WANT EVERYBODY TO UNDERSTAND MY SIDE OF THIS REDICULES & COMPLETELY FALSE REVIEW. EVERY SINGLE TITTLE OF WHAT HE WROTE HERE ON THIS SITE COULD NOT BE ANY FURTHER FROM THE REAL TRUTH!!! AND THAT IS THE REAL TRUTH!!! AND I ASSURE YOU, THE CONSUMER, READING THIS REDICULES JARGAN BY THE COMPLAINTANT, THAT YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE REAL JUDGE< THE ONE AND ONLY JUDGE< THE JUDGE WHO KNOWS ALL< SEES ALL< AND IS ALL< AND THAT JUDGE IS MY LORD AND SAVIOR - JESUS CHRIST!! THE ONE WHO I SERVE EVERY SINGLE DAY OF MY LIFE. BECAUSE, I AM HERE TO TESTIFY THAT I AM NOT WORKING TO PLEASE ANY MAN THAT WALKS THIS EARTH, I AM HERE TO WORK FOR< TO ANSWER TO< AND TO LIVE FOR CHRIST AND CHRIST ALONE> AND, IF I RIP OFF MAN, WHAT I BELIEVE IS THERE IS A HIGHER PENALTY FOR DOING SO THAT I AM NOT PREPARED TO PLAY RUSSIAN ROULET WITH!!! AND THAT MY FRIEND IS TRUTH AND SO IS EVERY SINGLE TITTLE THAT I HAVE WRITTEN IN THIS REBUTTING POST!!!! YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE ONE TRUE GOD"S HEAVENLY THRONE - JESUS CHRIST'S THRONE!!!! I WANT TO PRAISE GOD FOR BRINGING THIS REVIEW TO MY ATTENTION, AND MAY GOD BLESS EVERYONE READING THIS!!!! AND REMEMBER DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU HEAR OR READ UNTIL YOU AT LEAST HAVE BOTH SIDES TO THE STORY... THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
