Harry provided a thorough explanation of the services necessary and the plan to fix the issue. The project was started within one week of our initial meeting and it took only two days to complete. The installation crew was very courteous and cleaned up after themselves very well.
Description of Work: Installed interior french drain and sump pump. Repaired a small area of drywall.

I can't say enough about Harry and his team. Not only do they perform great work but they are reliable, trust worthy, and are fabulous with customer service. They have just completed our first job together and I am hiring them to start another one for me ASAP. If you want stress free, great work completed I recommend you using G&J.
Description of Work: When I originally hired them It was to do a basement and handle some structural needs. They did such a wonderful job that I ended up hiring them to complete an entire home remodel.

It went perfectly. They came as promised and did the work they promised. They provided a warranty for the work and communicated with me effectively throughout the process. I felt very confident and what they did and how they did it. The piece of mind that I was NOT being taken advantaged of and his honestly was great. I would highly recommend them and will continue to use their services.
Description of Work: I had a water problem and had many estimates. G&J were the best priced and took the time to explain what I actually needed. I had no idea and was very concerned about the problem. They promised me that this would solve the problem and that I did not need some of the items other contractors were quoting me.

We are very pleased with G & J Waterproofing and recommend them highly to anyone with water issues in the basement. The pricing was competitive and reasonable, as compared to several other quotes received. Harry, the project manager, was able to match competitive quotes and then some. We especially appreciated that there was NO upsell. He assessed the job honestly, told us what needed to be done and delivered on what was promised. The work was completed on schedule. And Harry checked in regularly to make sure that everything was taken care of properly. Also, the warranty is definitely one of the best offered in the business. Kudos out to Antonio and his crew. They were very professional, dilligent, pleasant and respectful. Thanks so much, guys!

Went well. Pumps are working. Had an issue with one pump running. Sent the rep a text and he called me immediately. We walked through the issue and figured out what happened. Issue resolved. Only reason I put their price at "B" is I didn't competitively bid, so I don't know if what I paid was reasonable. But work was good.
Description of Work: They reviewed my existing basement water system and determined the pumps were no longer working. They came and replaced the pumps. They scheduled from 9 - 11 and came at 10:15. Work was completed that morning.

I hired G&J after signing up for several estimates at a home show. As a consumer I was worried because I knew my home had several problems. First my basement got a lot of water and my walls were bowed. In back of my home my old retaining wall was beginning to cave and behind it there is a very large hill right by my home. When G&J came out they were right on time and I was impressed with the fact they were very helpful and walked me thru each phase. Being that i live on my own and have nobody else to help make the decisions the fact they were honest and did not push or rush me was very comforting. Well I had planned to get several estimates and i told them that which they were fine with and did not try to change my mind this was different then most companies I have dealt with on different projects. Harry explained to me that they it is their policy to not use sales tactics as they believe it is unethical and I agreed. Well I decided that night to use them they gave me a price of $25,000 for everything now this was after I decided i wanted to add my garage as well the original estimate was $19000 and it was very fair as the work was extensive. Well the first day they were early and their foreman Wes came out and spent an hour walking me thru everything before they started. Well step one was the foundation which they put in 21 carbon fiber straps and this process went smooth but was also labor intensive which they did without any mess or issues. Step 2 was the waterproofing they finished in 3 days and 2 days later it poured not a drop of water and mind you this is a basement that had 3 walls pour water before that. Last was the retaining wall and this was my biggest concern as I know people who have had horrible experiences with these and been ripped off. Well let me tell you not only did the wall come out beautiful but my yard was left so neat you could barely tell they were there. In having my basement dry and the wall built this has taken so much stress away as I am not wealthy and my home is very important to me. My experience has been one I have shared with anyone i know and what is very impressive is in a world of automated systems and long hold times they never fail to answer the phone or call back within minutes. My experience is beyond great and while $25000 is a lot for me to spend i knew it needed done and I got what I paid for and will tell anyone on here looking for a company that cares and will treat you like more then a number this is the company to use!!!!

The dates of the job were estimated to be from June 19th through the 21st. They showed up around 9am to start the work. I showed them the basement and I was asked "So what are we doing?" They had to call the office to find out what the job entailed. They were able to quickly install the drain and sump pump and concreted over what they had dug up. They used my garden hose; which is fine, to put water in the concrete mix and to clean off their tools. After they left, I went down to the basement to see what was a done. As I looked around, I saw the baseboards from the wall they had to tear up were still there (all debris was to be removed) and white towels I used to dry off and clean my cars were balled up, wet, and covered in concrete mix in my utility sink. I called and left a message about the concerns. He said he would have someone haul the debris away on June 21st when he came to spray for mold. When he came he said that the crew left the baseboards; which were still damp from the rain water, thinking I would want to use them. The baseboards were moved outside so someone could pick them up later in the day. Well, the end of the day on June 22nd came around and no one had come to take the debris away. I cut up and bagged the base boards myself since it was going to rain the next day. Today; June 23rd, I woke up to the sound of water running through pipes. I knew it wasn't the sound of the toilet bowll refilling so I go to the basement to find water pouring out of my utility coset through, the base boards and ruining another wall. The water was coming from the busted garden hose they never turned off. (Pictures attached). I immediately called the office and left another message before business hours. I told them to not worry about returning my call and that the aftermath of the project was not a pleasant experience. Conveniently, the water was leaking through the side of the house where the drain was not installed, so there is a chance the company won't care since their warranty exclusively covers the area they worked on, but I'll let everyone know what happens. The price for the job was affordable which is why we signed on so quickly. You do however, get what you pay for.

Response from G & J Waterproofing
It is unfortunate that this homeowner misrepresented the facts. The customer called G&J at about 6pm, they stated that they were very alarmed with all the water coming in and they thought it was getting into their electric. G&J considered this an emergency appointment, so we were there within an hour and half. We explained to them they were getting water, but the electric was not in danger. We also recommended to waterproof entire basement, at that time they declined to waterproof the finished part of the basement. G&J arranged our schedule at added them to our schedule a couple days later. We explained it would take 2 to 5 days depending on how the project went when we opened the floor. it was completed in less than 2 days. The homeowner claims we left debris, we sent out a representative. There were 3 pieces of baseboard left there that the homeowner originally wanted. There was no other debris. The next day we got severe rain, the homeowner even admits the water was coming in from the area we did not work on, this was the we recommended to get waterproofed and they declined. We received a voicemail before business hours the next day about the water coming in, we called back within minutes of opening and the homeowner never picked up or called us back. On his voicemail to us he yelled that we broke his hose and it was filling up the basement and threatened to leave us a nasty review. Within hours a foreman was there to check out the hose, the hose was off and away from the house and exactly where we emptied it when we finished his job. We still never have heard back from the customer. While we respect opinions, it is very unfortunate that we rushed out, arranged our schedule to help out this homeowner only to have an untrue review left. We feel the review was left because he felt that he should have had money taken off because we finished in a timely manner.

Office staff was helpful when I had to make a schedule change. Harry was available at the start and end of the job to walk me through everything and answer all of my questions, which was very appreciated. He also made himself available via phone when I had additional questions later on after the job was complete. The guys who did the job were courteous and worked quickly. The entire job was finished in three days. Upon discovering that there was more water than anticipated in one corner of the basement, G&J installed an extra sump for no additional charge. I was in the house alone with no one to help me move the heavy items back to their original places, so Harry offered to send one of the guys back to help once the concrete had dried, which I thought was a very kind gesture. The basement is now completely dry, so we are very happy. One little thing that would be a nice touch is if G&J provided pictures of the pipe/sump system before pouring the concrete or gave customers a heads up before the concrete is poured, so that they can take their own pictures. Now that the work is done, I realize I would have liked to have pictures of the pipe/sump system for future reference if we ever sell the house. But since this was my first experience with basement waterproofing, I just didn't think about it until after the concrete was already poured. Regardless, we are SO pleased with the quality of the job and would recommend G&J to anyone in need of waterproofing service!

The customer service was outstanding!! They are so fast, so responsive, and so friendly! They installed a French drain and sump pump in 2 days and we have had zero water in our basement, even with a very long and heavy rain. They explained everything in detail and answered all of my questions. We were impressed by how clean they kept everything. I love the family feel of the company! They treated us and our home like their own.

G & J waterproofing came to inspect a water leak that I was having in my basement. Harry was prompt and very professional. He talked me thru the issues and answered all of my questions. He was able to put a plan in place and even alerted me to to a couple different problems that could arise in the future. You never know what your getting into until you start pulling back the wall and see whats really going on behind it. They fixed the problem when they said they would and my basement has been dry ever since.

Harry is easy to work with. Knowledgeable in what he does. The best thing about Harry is he answers the phone and calls you back. This should not be overlooked as far too many contractors will neglect to communicate with their customers. I called G and J initially for my own home. Needed it done quickly and he was able to do the job. His guys worked tirelessly removing concrete from the basement and installing the drains. Everything is working and was done with care. A few weeks after the install I noticed water on the floor for a few days. I called Harry again and he did not hesitate to stop by and scheduled to have it remedied. Fortunately, it turned out to be my boiler leaking and not water from the foundation. I was already on the schedule for him to install another drain which I canceled. It does make me feel like I made a good choice with G and J because they were quickly going to warranty my job without any hassle so although I did not need them again I feel like I can vouch for their warranty program as well. I also hired G and J for another property of mine and the result was the same. Quick work done right. I'm confident in both installations. Issues some may have is their cleanliness and they all drive their personal vehicles, not a company van or truck. At the second property I also had him frame and drywall the basement. The drywall work was a little sloppy but that is expected from a waterproof company. Fortunately, I was not concerned with the finish drywall and to be honest, his prices are very good so if you want precision drywall work, call a professional drywall company. If you just need the walls up and covered G and J will work just fine.

We contracted him May 31st. His contract was supposed to be up on June 28th. He has taken 95% of my money and he has still not completed half the work. What he did do would not pass code. I've reached out multiple times to get the work completed, and they claim that these are "my problems." He claims that these are problems with the house, not with the work. He took money after we told him to stop taking money from us. He said he had a new water heater, and it has yet to be installed, despite us having had paid for it. He hired subcontractors, despite saying that he doesn't hire subcontractors. The subcontractors he hires as his crew, according to Harry, have criminal records. They have neither the tools nor the knowledge to do the work they were hired to do. After receiving tickets from local police they "won't come to the house anymore." He and his crew have left a bucket they used as a toilet (without permission!) in the backyard, and they refuse to clean it up. They've left the old, broken toilet along with their trash and food waste. They don't clean anything up. They've stolen food. They've littered my property. They didn't cap off appliances, leaving water damage all over the floors. The flooring contractor now claims that "the floors are fine," despite the clear evidence of more mildew. I have complied with this business multiple times in regards to the work being finished in a timely manner, and every time that I ask when work will be done, it's always claimed that it'll be "two more weeks". My house is unlivable.
Description of Work: Complete the French drain, drywall, plumbing, mildew removal. Eventually, flooring, the bathroom, mold removal, and the porch all needed work done as well (according to Harry).

Response from G & J Waterproofing
This customer has had numerous companies work at her house at no time has our company littered or damaged her property. we are very sad to see the lies that were put in here as we are actually still working there along with another company. This property is covered with animal feces which is never cleaned and the customer has asked G&J to work in the conditions which we cleaned on 2 occasions. G&J has no criminals working for them and the fact the customer made up such a story is very sad to say the least. Customer gave us a list of a few dozen things that are not on their original contract and asked us if we could do them free of charge to help out only after refusing did they become angry. We have spoken to the other contractors on the job and they have stated they faced similar issues. We have actually done several things at no charge to help them which is the reason that we have been there longer. Last but not least at no time were they told our employees wouldn't go there due to the police as we have not received any tickets at all. Customer also never had money taken without permission just another lie. We are sad to see such untrue and horrible remarks. There is no water damage to the floor which is another lie and attempt to get free work. On 3 different occasions they had set meetings with the owner and never once did they show. Very sad that someone would attempt to extort work by making up false allegations. If all of this was true and we were "stealing" her money she would have gone to the police.

Through Angie's List, I contacted G & J Basement Waterproofing. Harry, the project manager, came out, assessed the problem, and then very patiently explained to us how it could be fixed. His crew arrived on the scheduled day and worked efficiently over the next couple of days to finish the job. So far, everything looks great!

Harry and the crew came to evaluate a small leak after a basement system went in. They found the problem and offered to fix an additional problem at no cost. They were scheduled to come in and fix the initial problem when we had a devastating storm that washed out the foundation and broke the sewer line. They responded quickly and fixed not only the problem but helped us recover from a 2 foot flooding disaster in our basement. They cut the cost of the additional repairs by 50% since we were already customers. They did a great job, and I trust them. I really appreciated how quick they are to respond and they did a good job. I will call them if I ever need anything else done in the basement.

When our basement leaked last month, we were devastated. Harry came over the next day to assess the situation. Not only was their price competitive, their compassion gave us the confidence that we were choosing the right company. Harry was always in touch with us throughout the project, regularly giving us project updates and working with our work schedules to do walk throughs to ensure we were pleased with the progress. The company also installed outlets throughout the basement, free of charge as a bonus at the end of the project. We are very pleased with the work completed, and not only is our basement waterproofed it is also aesthetically improved!

The first day of work was scheduled on 7/28/2016 and the end date was listed as 8/5/2016. On the start date, they told us they would arrive around 9am. I took off work and planned to golf at 7pm. After many calls and reschedules, the company did not show up at all that day. The following Day the worker arrived around 10am and began completing the work . All of the basement items were removed by my wife and I to aid in this process. The following was completed: 1.) Install 80LF of interior drain ( all outside basement walls to have protection) 3.) Re concrete where old concrete was removed 5.) Install Sumpump The workers during this part did not have all the tools they needed and borrowed tools from me on multiple occasions. The drain to the basement sink was broken as well as the shut off for the cold water on the washer. Also, they used our cleaning supplies to clean and broke a broom as well. The next step took place on 8/04 to 8/08, past the original end date. This was when they replaced the laminate. This was rescheduled also many times. We were then told to clean up as they were done. We were told if we left a good review they would give us $50 dollars off of the project. During the clean up process, we found many places where the laminate did not line up and there were glue or spackle marks all over the place (about 30 to 40). Also, there were two pieces of flooring by the sump pump that were covered in glue. Refer back to the above were the object were broken those, items were left broken. All debris was not removed large rocks, random board/tools, and plastic sheets were left everywhere. The basement door did not close and scratched the new laminate. My wife called G & J a day after this to express this issues. We were told they were planning to come back and fix these we have just misheard them. It was over a week before anyone came to the house. We were told this was due to the flooring guy being in the hospital. During this time on 8/17 the broken drain was fixed and the following service was performed: 6.) Spray for mold We then asked when the flooring would be fixed. They told us 8/19. On 8/19 I was traveling and my wife called and said they could not make it but would complete this first thing in the morning on Monday. On 8/22 no one showed up to the house and we were told then would do the following day first thing in the morning. On 8/23 no one was at the house. At 1:43pm my wife called and told them they needed to show up as we had wasted to much time waiting over the past few days. No one showed up until 5pm and the job was not completed. All that was done was on side of the laminate basement now had quarter round to compensate for the distance between the end of the laminate and the wall. During this process, they painted the wood on our sidewalk and left large paint spots. We were then told to wait until Thursday 8/25 for the company to finish. However, I am leaving this review to express how now we are 13 days overdue on this project and still have no resolution.
Description of Work: Basement flooded once or twice a year was looking to have the following completed: 1.) Install 80LF of interior drain ( all outside basement walls to have protection) 2.)They were to put in new Laminate floor to replace the old floor and replace drywall 24 inches high where cut 3.) Re concrete where old concrete was removed 4.) Haul away all debris 5.) Install Sumpump 6.) Spray for mold The first day of work was scheduled on 7/28/2016 and the end date was listed as 8/5/2016

Response from G & J Waterproofing
Since this was posted we went back and finished the free molding. The job is complete is full. There is nothing to go back to finish. We have no idea what they want more to be done. Everything on the contract is complete. Plus some free items and tasks we did for them. Such as the leaky pipe in which Mr.[Member Name Removed] unhooked himself we did not touch but we fixed for free. _______It is true that there was a delay in the job the delay was by a couple of days. When we first arrived there was so much water in the basement that underneath the old floor it was full of mold and so wet it was like a sheet of ice. G&J removed all of their flooring and advised the customer we would treat for mold and we had to wait a day or two. Since the time we installed the system there has not been a drop of water. Before we address the floor we also want to make clear the customer did a final inspection in which both were present and paid in full after signing off with complete satisfaction. Because of the amount of water the floor had taken the closet door and base board had swelled so the floor could not slide under and due to this at no cost we agreed to install new quarter round which was done except a small section in the hall at which time the customer agreed putting new molding in the hall again free of charge would be fine. As for the glue on the floor it was not even a glue down floor so we never used glue there was what appeared to be a couple pieces which had some type of film which we agreed to have cleaned. Last with regard to the sink the customer disconnected the sink and upon doing so broke their own pipe causing it to leak they asked us to help and we again fixed free of charge. We arent sure why the customer review had left so much out and never made any mention of any of the stuff about tools to us at any point. For the record again the work they say is dragging on is work not even being charged for. All work was done correct and had it not been they would not have signed off which they sure did. Regardless of the inaccurate review we still have no problem putting the free molding on as G&J puts customers first.

The job went well, Tony the installer went above and beyond and made sure the system would work correctly. I closely watched through 2 thunderstorms and everything is 100& dry. Harry the site manager made daily stops to assure the job was on the right track and answered any questions or concerns
Description of Work: I needed an interior french drain on two walls of my finished basement/office and 3 walls of room under porch. Approximately 50 feet
