He did a good job and we already have referred him to a friend. It is a drive for us but this guy is worth it. It is easy to get a job that is not so good when having furniture repaired; however David is meticulous and his prices are very reasonable. The chair repair was substantial so it was worth the price. You generally take the furniture to him and he has another job so you are not going to get your furniture back the same day; it took about a week for ours to be finished. He did what he was supposed to do and finished when he said he would. I will use him again in the future.
Description of Work: I used David Friday of Furniture Medic to repair a couple of dining room chairs. He also did some caning on an antique chair.

Very disappointing. My first search with Angie's List. I was pleased to find a company to repair the tambor door on an old Hoosier cabinet. After a couple attempts to contact the company, he called me back to say he would be out of town for a week and would call back. That was near the end of May. It is now the end of July. I tried a couple more times to contact him. He did call me back once - by mistake. He thought he was reaching a different customer and said he would call back the following week. Didn't happen.
Description of Work: Services didn't happen.

David was fantastic. We had had a large chest shipped from Oklahoma. It arrived damaged, but we needed a fast evaluation of the piece and the damage as we had to accept or reject the shipment in 48-hours. Originally, David could not get there within that window, but when I explained the situation, he worked it into his schedule for the next day. He went to the warehouse where it had been received, examined the chest and then called me and told me what would be required, and what he thought ought to be done (return it to the seller). His expert eye caught things I had not, and he explained what the things he found meant to the overall integrity and value of the chest. He was great.
Description of Work: Inspected piece of furniture that was damaged in shipping, estimated repairs and evaluated damage done.

Dave stood up for his work -- so rare these days.
Description of Work: Dave had previously reglued the arms of a wood chair that sits at the end of our breakfast nook and gets a lot of movement across a carpeted floor to and from the table. Despite the repair, the arms came loose from the legs of the chair again. When I reported this by phone to Dave, he immediately scheduled a visit to my house, took the chair back for stronger glue, and returned it to me in less than 24 hours -- at no charge!

When I called David he was very friendly and helpful on the phone. He came by that same evening to look at the problem and take the headboard with him for repair. Since we were both going to be on vacation shortly, we both agreed that it would be after we got back. However, he called me two days later and had it ready, dropped it right off. Additionally, he recommended a person to help repair my leather coach since he doesn't work with leather. I would also say that I had no idea how much this sort of thing would cost, as my guess is it could be repaired rather quickly. But I think it was a fair price because he had to drive over and get it, as well as bring it back to me, and there is definitely time spent just on that. It also made it very convenient for me.
Description of Work: I head a headboard for a full size bed fixed. The pins that hold up the siderails weren't working anymore. David fixed the headboard so that it functional and strong again.

They did a good job and I would definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: I had a couple of old dining room chairs that needed to be fixed. Furniture Medic came and took 3 at one time and then a couple days later took the other 2, so we always had chairs to sit on.

I called on Thursday, but Dave was out of town until Monday. He called on Monday, came to my house on Monday to pick up the chair, and redelivered it on Wednesday afternoon. All very satisfactory.
Description of Work: Dave cleaned and re-glued several joints that had come loose in a wooden armchair, repaired two spots in the back panel that had been roughed up by my suspender hardware, and gave the wood a quick lubrication. The chair is once again sturdy and attractive. He also reattached two small pieces of trim to my long-case clock, while he was at my house.

When I first called I left a message- the machine said he would be out of town until the following week. He then called back as soon as he got back into town and left a cell phone # to call him anytime. He then scheduled for Saturday afternoon, and called to say that he was running early to see if I would mind if he came early- perfect! The main reason for my call was because 2 of our dresser drawers tip forward and almost fall out when pulled out, which could be dangerous. Some of the cheap plastic parts on the underside of the drawer had broken. He pulled the drawers out and simply tightened the metal guides so they would stay on the tracks without tipping forward-- a quick, economical, easy fix that we can duplicate if they loosen again. This was a good solution for me because I did not necessarily want to spend a lot of money installing new tracks, etc, if not really necessary.
Description of Work: Gave estimate for replacing rush dining room chair seats ($95-$100/chair); tightened metal guide rails on undersides of 2 dresser drawers so they don't tip forward when pulled out.

I was very happy with the service of this guy. He made the stool beautiful again and I was very impressed. The work was not very much and it was definitely worth it. I would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: I had a stool that was really broken apart badly. He fixed the chair for me and was even able to salvage the original fabric for me.

Norm was early the first visit, and slightly late the second but generally reliable and seems to have done a good job. When we were unable to get the drawer slides from the company, he got comparable ones himself from a woodworking store.
Description of Work: Repaired child's 12-year-old Childcraft dresser (inside joints had broken off and some slides had broken) and one drawer of another dresser.
