Well.

We called Mr Furko for an estimate to remodel our bathroom. I called him for an estimate and he promptly returned my call and set up a day and time. Mr Furko arrived on time, very professional, and pleasant. He took his time to assess the bathroom and to listen to our concerns and and all questions. Mr Furko emailed the estimate in a couple of days which he said he would. We decided on another company because we decided to go in another direction. We would give Mr Furko a good recommendation for his professionalism and promptness If I had another project that was within Mr Furko's scope of experience, I would again contact him. We would also recommend to read others reviews and comments.

Doug Furko and his crew completed the work quickly and cleaned up completely. They were professional and efficient. I would use Doug's services again.

Mr. Furko returned my call promptly, came the same day to look at the property and called that evening with an approximate estimate. We chose to go with another contractor as we preferred their repair method. I would contact Mr. Furko again in the future as he was efficient and did exactly what he said he was going to do.

Doug Furko was not the lowest estimate we received for the project (he was in the middle), but he created the best first impression, which is why we chose him. He was prompt, courteous and very professional. He impressed us most with his attention to detail and the quality of his craftsmanship. His team was equally competent and hard-working. He completed the project in a timely manner and we look forward to working with him again in the spring when he will be painting the exterior of our home.

Everything went well. We contracted out all the work that we could not do ourselves on the kitchen remodel. Doug gave us good advice and was attentive to the job even though it was a relatively small job.

There were four things I considered red flags and there were just too many of them to sign any contract. The neighbor up the street had used Doug and said there was a problem with a roof leak and he never came back to fix it. I asked Doug about it and Doug said it was a structural problem that required additional work and the owner did not want the additional work done. I thought it was a he said/she said but not enough by itself to stop dealing with Doug. Then there was the warranty. He did not mention any but when I asked him he said it was only 1 year. I thought it was a little short for what was going to be an entirely new roof on an entirely new sheet base. While we were still talking about details, I had not received an agreement but I sent him an email that I wanted the agreement to include the following statement. "Install, according manufacturer?s directions, CertainTeed Flintlastic® STA. (I have attached a copy of the manual so we don?t have to repeat all of that information.)" The manual was the manufacturer's installation booklet on its roofing products displayed on its website: http://www.certainteed.com/resources/FlintlasticApplicationManual.pdf Doug replied by email: "ALL PAGES FROM CERTAINTEED CORP. ARE DESIGNED FOR "IDEAL" INSTALLATION, AND THERE IS ALWAYS A CERTAIN DEGREE OF MODIFICATIONS THAT HAVE TO BE DONE (BASED ON JOB REQUIREMENTS).BASED ON THESE UNFORESEEN CONDITIONS , I CANNOT FOLLOW "EXACT" INSTALLATION THAT IS RECOMMENDED IN THE ENTIRE GUIDELINES!! ". I did not agree with his statement. The manufacturer has a lot more experience than any roofer with problems involving their particular roofing products and they write these manuals to make sure that problems don?t occur because the roof was not installed properly. Some things in the manual did not apply to this job like roof vents, dissimilar roofing materials going up the side, etc. But a good portion of it did. This was a flat roof which is prone to leak in the first place. Besides I think good contracts state that the material will be installed according to manufacturer?s specifications. With only a year warranty I did not want to be faced with a roof that did not conform to the manufacturer?s instructions. I cannot go along with a roofer who says I don?t always follow the manufacturer?s specifications because they are just an ideal goal not an actual minimum standard. What do I do a year later, if the roof is leaking and I see that there was no overlapping of the roofing but that the seams were about an inch apart and filed with tar? I can?t complain to the roofer because he told me he was not going to follow the manufacturer?s directions. I can?t complain to the manufacturer because the manufacturer is going to say you would not have had this problem if the material was overlaid 3 inches as we said. The roofer?s year guarantee is over. Finally, he had given me a start date when we talked so I emailed him: ?The expected start time on the job is 2 or 3 weeks from today?s date. Of course that is somewhat dependent upon the weather we experience.? He replied to my email: ?START DATE WILL DEPEND ON WHEN CONTRACTOR RECEIVES SIGNED CONTRACT , & WHEN CONTRACTOR COMPLETES ALL WORK THAT HE IS CONTRACTED TO DO BEFORE THIS DATE.? That answer did not tell me about when he would start. I would not have minded if he had written back that if I get the contract back in 3 days I expect we will start on or about XXX ?.. I thought four red flags were more than I cared to deal with or risk $8,500. For others, these may not be important.

I contacted Doug for an estimate to tear down & rebuild our front porch - which would include new concrete pad & brick walls. Doug took time to explain requirements to me and provided estimates for 3 different options. His estimates were just a little higher than another contractor but much lower than the 3rd contractor. I was impressed with Doug's professionalism and the only reason I used the contractor with the lower (although not that much) estimate was my familiarity with the other contractor's work - he had just built a porch for my sister-in-law.

I liked them. It was $3,600 for the roofing and $1,800 for the soffit, fascia and painting. I would use them again.

I called and Doug returned my call promptly. He came over gave us an estimate and we agreed on a start date. The crew showed up on time and got to work at once. they started when they said they would and were finished as promised. They cleaned up and were very polite the whole time they were here. We are very pleased with the results.

They were on time and conscience. They seemed to take pride in their work. They were very respectful and easy to work with. We feel that we got good value for the money that we spent. I would highly recommend them to others and we would definitely use them again.

The estimate was for $4000. It was pretty high. They would have also used the same materials as another company that I had contacted. I had the job done by somebody else.

Doug was extremely professional and courteous. He showed up on time for the estimate and provided a quote in a timely manner. His crew was courteous, arrived on time and clearly communicated with us throughout the entire job. We paid for labor only and provided the materials ourselves. Randy discovered a leak when he removed the commode and addressed the problem effectively. He thoroughly checked out the flooring and treated the problem. Doug called us every night to make sure we knew what was going on and to let us know exactly what we needed to buy for the next day’s job (additional piping, etc.). They finished the job on time…in fact, when we noticed a small leak under the sink after they left, Doug returned the next day to fix it. He was apologetic. We would definitely hire them again.

They estimated a 3 day process which took 5 because I was not satisfied upon initial review. I reviewed the job with the Owner who immediately agreed and made the corrections to my satisfaction.

Other than not fully cleaning up after work was complete, the job went smoothly and was done to my knowledge well and they also took pictures for us for before and after work. I would recommend these guys for roofing work. (in fact we plan on using them again in the spring).

Overall, services went very well. They were insured and also very courteous. Came at the specified time and leave when they say they will, took about a week to finish the work, very punctual. They were also reasonably priced.
