F E JOHANSSEN & SONS INC

I had issues from the start with responsiveness. Now the situation is downright unethical. Major whole-house work started under the direction on my GC who has a longstanding relationship with FE Johanssen. But I was to pay the company directly. Work happened in fits and starts. Two items were never completed (overflow on tub, vanity connection) despite multiple requests from me to finish the job. But the biggest issue is that neither the GC nor FE Johanssen pulled permits. I subsequently requested the permit be pulled retroactively at the request of the building inspector. It is now approaching 2 months- with me leaving repeated messages and having multiple conversations with company representatives - that this company has 100% failed to make any effort to fulfill the required permitting.

I wouldn't think of calling any other plumbing company!  When I called in March about the noisy furnace, my call was answered immediately, the job was scheduled promptly, and the plumber arrived when expected.  Before sending a man to the job, Johanssen's will call to confirm that you are home.  If not, they will go on to the next job, and call you when that one is completed.  You never have to give up a major portion of your day waiting for someone to show up.  
Three generations of my family have been satisfied and loyal customers.

We chose Johanssen because they were the installers of our boiler. Anticipating a higher cost compared to other plumbers but superior service, we were pleasantly surprised because we didn't know the service could be even better than we had expected. Dennis really knows what he is doing, and he quickly diagnosed the burst pipe and set to work replacing it. I could tell that he has quality expertise. He told us that the pipe had been installed too close to the exterior wall where it would be more prone to freezing. He even had time to take a look at our boiler, since we were worried about the pressure on it -- the whole visit took only half an hour. This only confirms my impression of F E Johanssen being one of the highest quality plumbing companies.

Perfect. They returned my call on they same day that i called. Came the next day at the time that they said. Did the work and cleaned up carefully. very pleased.

The sevice went very well, they billed in the mail instead of having me pay right away.

I've been using this plumber for over 15 years. They have always done a great job. Their workers are very knowledgeable about their craft. They can always identify the problem quickly.

The plumber was prompt, courteous and kept me informed of what he was doing. Was able to repair all the problems I had been having. I have used this company for many years and have found this level of service each time. I am never disappointed.

They are just excellent. I like them. They come and do the work. They are in and they are out. They tell you what it is going to be. I don’t have to worry about them. I am an older woman and I live alone and I don’t like people who scare the life out of me. I don’t want them all over the place. I am very pleased with these people. I spent about $110. I will use this company in the future.

We noticed water leaking on the bathroom floor and determined it was coming from the toilet. We called Johanssen and Sons and arranged for them to come the next day. They called to say they were on their way and arrived on schedule. The plumber was courteous and professional and went right to work. When he found the problem, he showed me what was wrong and told me what he had to do to correct it. He left the bathroom as he found it. I appreciated the fact that the plumber told me that because the water had been turned off, to not be alarmed when turning on the faucets. He showed me how the water will "spit" (my word, not his) out of each faucet for a short time. This was our 2nd experience with F.E. Johananssen and Sons, Inc. and it will not be our last.

They are very efficient. When we bought the house, it needed a new heater which they installed. We have old-fashioned, water-based radiators and they helped us try to figure out what is going on and they helped us with various pipes that have died. They are very fast, very good, but also a bit expensive. What cost the most is that our pipe gave out on the weekend. They are always there and I have no problem with their work. My only complaint is the cost.

By and large, the work is very good. I did have two little problems. 1 was that they should have had two people to carry the water heater down stairs and then the second person just stayed around for another hour keeping the other one company after he took the water heater downstairs. I was paying for his time so I had him leave. The second thing was that a little part for the humidifier was not put into the filter and he took the whole thing out and realized it needed a new part. He gave me the extra piece because he wasn't able to get the filter out. I called the manufacturer and they explained to me how to take it out and I fixed it for $7. I went to Johanssen because I paid $140 to him for the same thing. He said he would give me a refund for the part, but he didn't. I went back and he didn't even know that he hadn't taken care of it. I asked for a check since I didn't get a credit. I honestly did not feel like I was treated well.

They are businesslike and get the job done. They explain everything to me, and I don't have to worry about picking up things when they leave because they are very neat. They are nice people to work with.

I have used this company for a while now and it is always someone different that comes out. The quality of work really depends on who you get for a serviceman. Really they are all good, just some are a little better.

I have been using this service since 1998 and I am very happy with them. They are always punctual. Occasionally the owner comes to my house for service which I like. The only time I ever had an issue with clean-up they immediately came back out and rectified the problem.

I was very happy with them and I have been using them ever since I moved into my home a few years ago. I think that their prices are reasonable and they do good work for me.

The plumber arrived promptly. He replaced the parts described above. He removed the float because it was sinking into the water: The copper float had a large hole punctured in it, not from corrosion. I'm not sure who made the hole (three other people had access to our bathroom), but I am 90% sure that the float was sabotaged. He replaced the copper float with a plastic one. The plumber was friendly, explained his work and told me two plumber's horror stories while he worked. Like an idiot, I failed to check his work before he left; I just assumed that it would be good. Now the (?flap) doesn't stop the flow of water into the toilet bowl from the tank; you have to wait for the water in the bowl to go down and come up and then jiggle the handle to get the flow to stop. He told me to call him if I had a problem, but I suspect that he is just trying to bill me for a second service call.

They are reliable and usually get to a job within 2 days if it is not an emergency.

WE WERE A LITTLE SURPRISED WHEN THEY CHARGED US FOR AN ESTIMATE ON SUCH A LARGE JOB. THEIR ESTIMATE WAS WITHIN OTHER BIDS WE RECEIVED, WE JUST DECIDED TO GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY.

ACTUAL PRICE WAS MORE THAN TWICE AS MUCH AS THE ORIGINAL ESTIMATE.
