Description of Work: We had a problem with mice getting into the house between basement ceiling. The baited and then came back a couple weeks later and located a whole where they were getting in and sealed it. So far, no more problems.

Description of Work: The office I use is out of Butler. I have them come on a quarterly basis. The only issue I have is that if they can't make an appointment, they don't notify you - they just don't show up. If they need to reschedule an appointment and can't reach you, you have no way of contacting them after 5:00 M-F. They only have Sat. hours in the summer from 10-1. The company has bad communication with their customers.

Description of Work: This deals with the Butler, PA franchise. Butler and Youngstown have the same logo so they must be related. This company was hired by the property manager to eradicate roaches at my rental. I called Expert Pest to inform them that I fired the property manager. The customer care person in Butler and I had a discussion about the services performed. Expert had been spraying for 5 months. I was never informed that they intended to continue. I then received an estimate from this same company for $1225 to remove powder post beetles. I called another exterminator to meet me at the property. We found NO powder post beetles. So I called the company 5 times over 6 weeks to find out where the beetles were seen. Each time I was told that the technician or a supervisor would call me, but no one ever did. I then got another bill from this company to spray for roaches. At no time during my previous 6 conversations with the customer care person was I ever informed that they would be spraying again. I made it clear that I was now in charge, I had not signed any contract, had no verbal agreement, did not hired them, and certainly did not authorized them to charge my credit card that I used to pay what I thought was the final bill with this company. It was only when I threatened to not pay the unauthorized charge that a supervisor finally contacted me, investigated and reported back that the technician put the information in the wrong place on the estimate. There were no beetles; there were termites. I contacted the company to inform them that they had no authority to spray or charge my credit card. They basically said, too bad – we did the services, so you have to pay, and no, we will not remove the charge from your credit card. So I was left with no choice but to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I may also contact an attorney. Invoices went to the previous property manager. The only invoice we ever saw was the unauthorized spraying that said the tenants did not keep the place clean. To spray without requiring the place to be clean, makes business for them, but is a band aid approach, and totally unacceptable to me. I did not get this company from Angie's List. They just happen to be on the list. Be very careful with the Butler

The guy that walked in didn't seem to be professional at all. He didn't go around the house to check other parts. He just seemed to be lazy and not want to even do his job. He didn't inquire about the sounds or place on where the rodents were exactly. I had to call him back and tell him I still saw droppings. The 4 baits he set out were something I could have just done myself. I still saw droppings from rodents. So they had to come back again and set 10 traps. Still more droppings. After this company didn't get the job done I asked for $100 out of my $180 back. They wouldn't allow it. I ended up going with a different company that did a wonderful job. Ehrlich Pest Control.

My complaint was not with the initial contact. Dennis came out and distributed bait in different areas of my house after I found two mice in my basement. He thought this was probably just the time of year, but I didn't want to chance it. He was professional and checked the outside for areas that he thought could be sealed to help prevent them from getting into the house. Expert gives you a guarantee of 90 days if you have them follow-up and check areas and plug any outside potential problems (at an additional cost). I decided to do this and was reminded by Expert via a phone call that I should have this done soon to stay within my warranty. We set up a day (12/21/2010) for Dennis to come back and plug the outside areas. I told Tiffany at the time of the call, that I would not be home and for Dennis to leave a bill in my door or, if they billed from the office, I would pay it when I received it. When I got home I found an invoice for $39.75 saying "I missed my appointment" - I called them promptly to reiterate that I had not 'missed' any appointment as I told Tiffany I would not be home and a bill could be left in my door for payment. She said they would 'remove' that charge when I rescheduled. I said that one had nothing to do with the other. I knew I was not going to be home. Tiffany, when setting up the time, knew I wasn't going to be home, so I did not 'miss' any appointment. This problem could have been resolved immediately with them recognizing their mistake. Instead they kept insisting I would get this charge removed WHEN I set up my follow-up. By now I had decided NOT to use them. I did not like their tactics. Many calls were placed to get the $39.75 erroneous charge removed from my account. FINALLY, today it was. I did not like the threat of only getting this charge removed 'when' I had them come out for the follow-up. I will not use them again and do not recommend them. I'm glad this issue was resolved today, It should not have taken this long or so many phone calls on my part.
Description of Work: Rodent treatment. Bait applied to rafters. Additional cost to get their 90 day warranty with their follow-up visit.

We've had a great experience with Expert Pests. The woman that took the initial phone call was great- professional and helpful. And the exterminator that was assigned to us was knowledgeable and efficient. We liked their service so much that we decided to use them for seasonal insect maintenance as well.

While my BF was working in my yard, he left the garage door and the door to the basement open. A chipmunk entered the basement. The chipmunk managed to avoid my cat, but couldn't avoid the poisonous bait left by the pest control guy. I found the chipmunk dead about a week later.

Arrived on time, young guy climbed second story and sprayed house top to bottom. Have to wait 10 days to see if it worked (it's 10 days later) and it seemed to have worked. The service is backed for 1 year so I like that part.
Description of Work: Rental unit upstairs apartment was having bee's enter the kitchen and I could not find the source. I had some plumbing work done so we were thinking chimney/vent could be issue. Never did see a nest so the guy sprayed the entire house down.

The person I talked to when I scheduled the appointment gave very thorough information about what might be causing the problem. When I called back to cancel, I got voicemail. Then on the appointment day, someone came out anyway! I wasn't home and he left behind a $50 bill. But the company agreed not to bill me when I called to complain.
Description of Work: I called the company after hearing an animal in my home's HVAC system. I called to cancel after several days went by without hearing the animal again.

The service man was 1/2 late. When I called the office, they explained that he got delayed by road construction and that he would be here in 1/2 hour. He did arrive within that time frame. Ken Stintzi located the yellow jacket nest under some very thick hedges. Within 1/2 hour, Ken was done. We haven't seen any yellow jackets in that location since. I was very pleased with the results. This company will also service your home when you are not present as long as you mark the area that needs inspection and treatment. We rated Price as B only because we have no other prices on which to compare.

THE SERVICE VISIT WAS SCHEDULED FOR THE SAME DAY THAT I CALLED. DAVE SMYTHE WAS ON TIME, FRIENDLY AND BUSINESS-LIKE. HE EXPLAINED MOUSE BEHAVIOR AND THE EXTERMINATION PROCESS WELL. THE OFFICE RECEPTIONIST, HOWEVER, HAD MISLED ME ON BOTH THE COST OF THE SERVICE AND THE WAY THE PROCESS WORKED. MY HOUSE IS A 3-FAMILY AND SHE GAVE ME THE PRICE FOR A SINGLE AND HAD SAID THAT THE POISON CAUSED THE MICE TO LEAVE THE HOUSE IN SEARCH OF WATER.
Description of Work: DAVE SMYTHE SEARCHED FOR SIGNS OF MICE LIVING IN THE HOUSE. HE SET OUT BAIT TRAYS WHERE EVIDENCE WAS FOUND IN THE BASEMENT AND ON THE SECOND FLOOR, AND EXPLAINED HOW IT WOULD WORK. HE SAID THAT THE BAIT IS AN IRRESISTIBLE CAKE OF HONEY AND LINSEED OIL LACED WITH AN ANTICOAGULANT WHICH BUILDS UP SLOWLY IN THE MICE FEEDING ON IT AND CAUSES DEATH FROM INTERNAL HEMORRHAGE. SOME DIE AFTER GOING BACK OUTSIDE, SOME DIE WITHIN THE WALLS AND SOME MAY DIE IN THE OPEN IN THE HOUSE. IN OUR CASE, ONE DEAD MOUSE WAS FOUND IN THE OPEN, ALTHOUGH EVIDENCE WAS FOUND OF A SMALL COMMUNITY. HE SAID HE WOULD BE BACK ''IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS.'' ON THE FOLLOW-UP VISIT ONE MONTH LATER, MR SMYTHE CHECKED THE BAIT CAKES AND CAULKED POSSIBLE ENTRY POINTS IN THE HOUSE FOUNDATION AND ADVISED THAT I DO THE SAME ANNUALLY WITH SILICONE CAULKING.

THEY CAME ON TIME (CALLED EVEN BEFORE THEY CAME TO VERIFY THAT IT WAS OK). VERY NICE GUYS. THEY ALSO EDUCATED ME ABOUT CARPENTER ANTS (WHAT TO LOOK FOR AND HOW TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE FROM A HOUSE SWEAT ANT AND A CARPENTER ANT).
Description of Work: MY HOUSE WAS FULL OF CARPENTER ANTS. THEY CAME AND GOT RID OF THEM. THEY SPRAYED EVERY NOOK AND CRANNY THERE WAS IN MY HOUSE AND EVEN TREATED ONE OF THE TREES THAT THEY BELIEVE THE ANTS CAME FROM.
