+ -1 moreI wish this was a 5 or even 4 star review but it's not. This company is a mess, we had 2 crews, the first crew did pretty poor work, the second crew was better but there were still details missed. The first crew put over 2 dozen cuts into my wood window trim and while they said they'd come look at it, they have since ghosted me. I have spent numerous hours repairing this. Project management and quality is left largely to the customer. You better know what you want and what you're looking at to get work done by this company. My historic brick is common but they didn't bother to source any. I could have done so if I had known. After 3 rounds I finally got a brick that was close but it took calling upper management to make it happen. The mortar and the terracotta patch don't match existing despite me trying to coordinate with them ahead of time. Bottom line is details are always someone else's problem. The parts that are good are pretty well done but some of it is pretty sloppy.

+ -1 moreI contracted Escajeda Masonry to perform a chimney rebuild for the top part of my chimney. Overall, I’m not satisfied with the work that was completed. I went with them because the estimate seemed reasonable for the amount of the chimney that was to be rebuilt, in addition to the other work that was part of the contract, including replacing necessary flu liners, brick matching, and removing the black and white staining. However, the work that was actually completed was not as complete as I expected. Only a portion of the area that was supposed to be rebuilt was rebuilt, the brick matching was not done well, and only the black staining was cleaned, leaving the white staining behind. On the first day of work, I expressed my concern that the bricks samples did not match my house (they were not provided in advance as I was told they would be when discussing the estimate before going with them to do the work). I was told there was a range of color in the cubes and they were going to be blended with as many originals as possible. But seeing the finished product, the top of my chimney sticks out like a sore thumb with the non-matching bricks that were used. In addition, they drove their truck off the side of my driveway and into my yard and my hillside, putting large ruts into the yard that will need to be fixed and did not bother to tell me about it.

+ -1 moreThey never finished the job. I'm still waiting on a pointing job they will never do. Pay them as little up front as possible. They will do the work, but only if it's worth their while.
Description of Work: They cleaned the caps on my chimneys. Were supposed to repoint the house and never did. I gave them too much money and it wasn't worth their time to finish.

+ 0 moreEscajeda did an excellent job. Fair prices and showed up when they said they would. Very professional and very good communication, showing up in a timely manner for the initial quote, scheduling the work in a reasonable timeframe (given their busy schedule), checking in with reminders, and arriving on time the day of the work. We missed one area during our closeout inspection due to the position of the scaffold, and Escajeda returned within days to fix what was missed. We would highly recommend Escajeda and hire them again, if needed.

Description of Work: I had a very positive experience and the finished work looks good. From the beginning they were very clear about all the steps of working with them (including Covid policies) and the scope of the project. They have separate staff for estimating and scheduling and everything stayed to the timetable they originally gave. Even though it was a no-contact estimate I was able to get all my questions quickly answered. If you like having a very clear scope and then a beginning of job and end of job sign-off this company is for you. On the first day of work the foreman was present and paid attention to issues of matching mortar and depth of mortar joints and gave very clear choices. They had updated the scope of work. The workers were courteous and efficient. They went above and beyond to install a metal cap on the chimney at the end of the job. The scope included grinding and pointing the chimney mortar, removing and cementing a new crown on top (the part that covers the top of the brick and fills in around the flue pipes), and sealing the work. An optional steel cap was also installed at my request to keep critters out. Researching the cost of chimney repair the price was on the higher end but considering that the chimney is over 3 stories up and is big with 4 flues I think I got money’s worth. You can find companies that have lower overhead from having less office staff but I appreciated having people who were really on top of the process and having all the paperwork to back it up.

Long story short, some miscommunication, and this company went above and beyond anything that was expected. They first completely rebuilt a chimney, wonderfully might I add, then upon finding out due to someone else's issue, the primary leak was on a different chimney in the home. Escajeda Masonry & Chimney then communicated directly with us, and made the much needed repair, expeditiously, promptly, and most shockingly WITHOUT ADDITIONAL CHARGE, and stated to "enjoy your new home."
