Erie Construction - Pittsburgh

This was the worst experience I've had with a company and a contractor. They tout their unique materials, training, and warranty. However, they neglect to tell you they sell the contract to the lowest bidder, which means you may get a good crew, or you may get a terrible one. They use whatever material anyone else can get. We got a terrible one, and many have. Dig deep into the reviews. They try to bury them. There are some horror stories. Our crew was very rough on our house, cuts in the deck, smashing and dropping things from 30 feet, felt like there were going to bust through the roof sometimes, and our house is almost hundred years old. The salesman lied about how much of the original roof would come off, and they did not fix or replace any soft spots in our roof, which we were assured they would. They mostly did as little work as they could to get the job done. There were some good crew members, but they did little to remedy issues and told you to contact the main local office. The office is disorganized and frustrating to work with. We got some money back, but honestly, our brand new roof, which we were told would look better as it settled, has dipped in soft spots and does not look like a well-laid roof. Does it work? Yes. But its poor craftsmanship and I've had other roofers say as much. Don't use this company. The warranty is nice, but it also prevents you from getting anything else fixed associated with the roof unless it's them. No one can touch or be on "their" roof, so if you need to fix gutters, or do chimney work, it better be through them or else say goodbye to your warranty. Don't use this company. They are terrible.

Do NOT trust this company! Cleanup was absolutely terrible, they damaged our gutters, ripped off our gutter helmets which were extremely expensive and then denied it. Oh by the way: (your warranty will not cover this sort of thing even if they caused it). They subcontracted out the work and lied to us by saying they had their “own” guys to do the job... In addition, they backdated contracts to force us to go through with the roof which is in no way, shape, or form is good business! Even if you try and make it right after someone calls to express they are upset, it should have never happened, period. Lastly, someone called after our roof was installed to give us a survey and when I expressed all the things that went wrong with them she said that “corporate” would call us, and they never did. To give them a chance to make things right, I’ve reached out several times BEFORE writing this review. This is now almost 3 weeks out of at least one phone call or more a week not to mention emails and we STILL have not heard a single word from this company. All in all, our experience was VERY bad and VERY stressful. It also doesn't help that we paid DOUBLE for our roof just because we hired this company. We spent almost $25,000 on our roof, and we can’t even get a call back to address the things that they broke and/or didn’t clean up. So we are having to spend even more money to fix the damage on our own that they caused not only to our home, but to our yard from materials they never picked up, and killing nearly all of our grass. Oh and the shingles they used on our home can be bought from another company. In fact, we later found out that right down the street from our home another roofer was selling the same shingles for less than half of what Erie was charging. Hire someone else who cares about their customers. You will regret trusting this company.

Do Not Hire This Company!!!!!! Delayed start by 2 months. Guaranteed finish in 3 days. Still waiting for the Job to be finished 4 months later. Now the siding is falling off the House! Customer service won't send anyone to fix or finish the job.

The crew arrived on time and got right to work. Even though they worked incredibly fast, quality and professionalism was not sacrificed. I think we’ll be calling Erie Construction when we are ready to replace our windows. We don’t mind paying a little more for quality.

The initial visit for the estimate took approximately 2 hours. The man came to my home and takes to us about the manufacturing of the products and told us about the high quality work they would provide. We were told tht workers would be on time, arrive when they say they were going to, and finish the job in 4 days. Everything that this man told us about the crew was a lie. They worked some days and not others, left a mess on my back deck each and every day they worked. Cigarette butts were left in my yard for us to clean up. The roof took 3 weeks to complete. When they were "finished" they left my front down spout without an elbow on the end and when it rained the water would pour out onto the ground. We called for them to come back and fix this multiple times with no response. My husband finally called the corporate office to get a response and finally it was "fixed". Unfortunately we are still calling this company because our back gutters are leaking and the fron downspout is still not fixed. Once again we have mad multiple calls to corporate and still no one to call and come to make this right. We paid a lot of lonely for this roof and one would think they would stand by their work and their warranty. Apparently not. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Recently we had a new metal roof put on our home by Erie construction. Our roof is unique having multiple planes and pitches and an almost flat section. The roof turned out beautifully. Everyone that has seen our new roof loves it and says they can't tell it's a metal roof. The Installation crew we had head by Chris were very nice, polite and professional. They did a very good job installing and cleaning up after themselves. The salesmen were very knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with too. The over all experience was quite pleasant and we would recommend Erie to others and already have.

I would like to express what a great job Erie Construction did in replacing my roof. I was impressed that when I called to ask about an estimate, I had someone contact me within 24 hours and an appointment to discuss the roof was setup within days. At the time of our initial meeting, I was given an estimate and it was the entire cost of the project. With Erie Construction, I was told several times because I asked several times, that the estimate given to me was the entire cost including any extra materials they would have to purchase to fix the wood frame underneath. They said they want their system on a good solid roof foundation and they would see to it that it was done properly, at no extra cost to me. The gentlemen who came two days later to go over the financial information were very efficient and went over everything very thoroughly and answered all my questions without making me feel inferior because I was a woman and had no idea about some of the things involved in replacing a roof. The warranties and papers were all explained very clearly. A date was set to start on the roof within two weeks. It took them a little longer than expected because of the height and the shorter days but they did an excellent job. They were very courteous to my neighbors and asked permission to have access from their roof. They even used a foam rubber square pillow to stand on the neighbor’s porch roofs so as to not dirty or damage them. Each night they worked until it was so dark that they couldn’t see any more and swept all the areas clean before they left. The walkway between my house and the neighbor’s house has never been so cleanly swept. I also asked them to keep me apprised of each day’s progress and they did . . . every day before they left they would let me know when to expect them the next day and what was left to be done. I would certainly recommend Erie Construction to anyone wanting to replace their roof. I intend to contact them when I’m ready to do my siding.

It went great, but if there would of been more than one working on it it would of been done more quickly.

The entire process was fantastic! The salesmen passed on a lot of information to us about how the windows are made, the history of the company and the process of how the installation would go. When an issue arose with one our custom windows during the installation process, it was addressed quickly & with no fuss. No money was expected until everything was installed correctly in the home. The Customer Service department was friendly & informative.

We have a very steep roof, with a lot of angles and valleys. These guys did a wonderful job on it.

First appt for quote was scheduled for 7pm and was missed with no call. At 10pm that evening I get a knock at my door. Reluctantly I let them in. 3 weeks later I get a phone call from the "regional manager" and I'm guaranteed a significant reduction. After 1 canceled appointment less than one hour before the time scheduled and a no call no show, I finally get the regional manager in my home. I should have known better at this point, but I agreed to the price and signed a pile of contracts. He did say MULTIPLE TIMES that we got an aggressive price but Erie will honor their quote. I assumed it was a sales pitch. The quoted price after a $2000 reduction was still in the middle of the pack of quotes I received. 2 days later I get a voicemail that after looking at the satellite view they can't honor my contract and perform the work. While this is legal and I found the clause in the contract, they were a terrible company to work with from the beginning. It's a shame because I like their product but I'm now realizing I more so liked their sales pitch. Buyer beware.

It was great. The workers showed up every day and worked efficiently. They also cleaned up every day after they worked. They were delayed a couple days because of rain, but everything was completed in good time. The roof looks great and is quality work.

The representative that provided the price was very professional, and it was easy to talk with them about any questions or concerns that we had. They knew their product and services they provided extensively. They brought material samples and explained the process that would happen with getting a new roof installed. They did show up later then the agreed upon time due to outside forces, but called to let us know they would be late. The price was a little more than what we had expected; however, they did work with us to bring it within an acceptable amount without hassle. They wanted to earn our business. At no time did we feel pressured to take their business. The construction crew did what was agreed upon on in the contract. They addressed any issues or concerns we had in a professional manner. They worked as long as necessary to get the job done. The materials used appear to be the same high quality that was presented as samples when the price was given. We got a metal roof on the main house and fiberglass shingles on the front porch roof. It looks better then we had expected. Overall we are very pleased with the experience we had with Erie Construction and would strongly consider using them again for other work that we may need done that they provide services for.

The salesman was very knowledgeable and friendly. He explained the the whole process from how the windows are made to installation and function. The installation crew were some of the nicest people I have met. They were very respectful of my home, always knocked before they entered. They made sure that the windows were precise and didn't cut corners. They even did more than I was expecting. Other guys will just put windows in and run a seal around them. They added insulation into empty pockets, trim on the interior if needed, and flashing around the exterior. The widows themselves are beautiful and easy to use.

There was a definite lack of communication between the salespeople and the office help. The salesman they sent us was not very well informed and he was very misleading. The roofing was subcontracted and the roofers were excellent. I will not use the main company in the future.
