They come to the house and do a hard sell. I had already priced the job at Home Depot and Lowe's, so I knew roughly what it should cost. The guy up-measured the square footage (slack measuring tape at slight angles to make it slightly longer for each room, which added up to much more sq feet than I already knew was the accurate measurement), and then tried to sell me this very low quality carpet for far, far more than HD or Lowe's (and I had looked at better carpets there). He then engaged in this absurd game of "discounting" including offering to forego his own commission (please, like that's really happening), and even with all offered discounts the price was nearly double the cost of better carpet from Home Depot. I think this place is a scam. The capper was when he said the discounts only apply if you sign up right there on the spot and give them a deposit. SCAM ALERT!

They had a really good special going and their work was recommended to me. Every so often they do a 60% off sale so I took a chance on them. With the big companies, you wonder if everything they do is good or if they are just cranking a lot out but Empire was fine. They were very efficient, they did what they said they would, and they didn?t disappoint me in any way. The installation went well and everything about it was good. I think the price was good and they matched up with other places I?ve inquired about.

The last time around, I was a bit annoyed. I called and they promised someone would be out. The girl that I spoke with on the phone really didn?t know what she was talking about; when the salesperson came out, he said that she should have not promised me that someone would be here and install on a Saturday, because they don?t install on a Saturday. I told her that I was matching up carpeting in a third bedroom with 2 other bedrooms, and she assured me that I could get that same carpeting. When the salesperson came out with his samples, he said that it was no longer available. The third experience didn?t work out well. I did get them to do the carpeting, and they matched it up relatively well. I could barely understand the girl on the phone - I don?t think that people who barely understand English should be doing customer service jobs. I had to repeat everything to her 3 times. The people who laid the carpets did a good job. I probably would use them in the future only because I have one bedroom left to match up. However, I would probably do some more shopping the next time around.

Salesperson provided misleading information on the quality of carpet attributes. Only way to reach him was to leave a message with their 800 number. Carpet and pad were private labeled by Empire Today so we could not compare apples to apples. Neither Wells Fargo nor Empire Today ever notified us that the order had not processed, or the original financing terms had been withdrawn or denied. No-one at Empire Today's Customer Service facility in Texas would disclose the names of neither the principle officers in Northlake, IL nor those responsible for operating the local warehouse in Monroeville, PA. Empire Todays' salesperson and Customer Service had no explanation other than credit was pending but never approved from Wells Fargo, who had received $25Billion in Federal Bailouts! Ridiculous given this Empire Today total purchase amount was below our credit limits, zero balances and excellent payment history at both Home Depot and Lowes. Empire Today's salesperson and customer service offered to reschedule with usurious changes to the payment terms. We refused and after spending hours on the telephone were finally given a contract cancellation number. After mailing a demand letter to the local Monroeville address our deposit was refunded. We subsequently purchased a superior quality carpet at less total installed cost elsewhere

My first contact with the Telephone Representative wasn't too good. I had to repeat all of my information three times. She told me that my carpet would be installed the next day, as is the policy for Empire, but when the scheduler called me back, he said that the next day service for Saturdays didn't apply in my City. I had to wait three days. I was matching carpeting with other Bedrooms that Empire had placed. Telephone Rep. was not able to tell me whether/not the carpeting was still available. I had to wait for the In-home Rep. to tell me that it wasn't available and would have to match to something close. The Installation went as promised and the Installers did a professional job and were very pleasant to work with.

Salesman was personable, came to the house on time, measured, gave us general information on the different grades of carpet, showed us samples and wrote up our order after we made our choice. We got "discounts" for no furniture to move, no old carpet to pick up and we were 1st time buyers from Empire. The salesman did engage in a little bit of pressure tactics, "I can't guarantee this price if you don't sign today." But when I had to re-schedule my installation date 3 times there was no problem with the office at all, we notified them and it was moved. The benefit of dealing with a large company. I would use them again.

They were extremely professional. They came to our home, showed us samples, helped us with the decision, gave us a fairly good price and the installation was very, very well coordinated and executed. We were very pleased.

The price he quoted for the carpeting was outrageous. The company must be doing well because the salesman drove away in a BMW.

I will never use Empire Today carpet again, and I tell everyone I know not to use them either.

Excellent. Tim Keeling (sales) was fantastic to work with and accommodated my sudden hospitalization. Felt like I was doing business with a trusted friend. Work quality; excellent. The 2 installers arrived exactly on time and never stopped and got it done in no time. Very professional.

They came the week before and showed me samples, measured, and only had to pay $50 to schedule the delivery (as noted above for a huge amount of carpet, over 225 sq ft). The salesman was pleasant, and very knowledgeable about his samples. I could have scheduled the delivery/installation any day, but picked a day that suited me, and they were able to accommodate me. They were to be at my house by noon, but called and stated that they were running a tad late, no problem, they showed exactly two hours later, just as they said they would. They apologized that the small job before mine, took a bit longer than expected, but not to worry they would finish my house that day, without incident. And they did! They were courteous, efficient, and hard workers. The carpet looks fantastic, and they didn't harm/nick any of the walls, or floor boards. They did a fabulous job, much better than any other company I have used.

When the workers arrived, they moved my furniture, pulled up and shredded my carpet. They then tried to lay the first couple pieces of laminate and discovered that my floor was slightly uneven. They told me that they were unqualified to do any kind of leveling of my floor and recommended I buy carpet instead. I was irate. I was not upset that this could end up costing me more money to level the floor but that they had destroyed my perfectly good carpet and then couldn't finish the original job. The Empire mgmt. called within minutes and tried to sell me new carpet, telling me that if I chose something basic, they *may* be able to get it in in a couple days. If I wanted carpet, I would have kept the original carpet that I had!! Neither the contractors nor Empire offered a temporary solution other than some carpet pads so my subfloors are now exposed on the 1st floor of my house. Empire and the contractors were extremely unprofessional and obviously unqualified.

I felt they have a deceptive business practice. I am upset because it could have been my parent or wife and they could have been easily intimidated. How he handled himself was very unprofessional. We are more upset because the salesman came and never said anything about paying before the work was done and I was not going to do that and not know how the floors would turn out. So I said I wanted my deposit back and they sent it and I will never do business with them again. I feel everyone should know how deceptive they are and their paperwork. They do not tell you until they show up to do the work.

They are pretty well known down here. They do very excellent work! You have choices, but if you want the best you get the best. They did a beautiful job; we were very pleased with them. They are excellent professionals.

They did not return my calls right away, but they did call me back. They were a Spanish crew, so it was difficult to understand each other. They did an alright job and their price was pretty fair.

The installation went well, however within 4 months of installation, the custom bound carpet unraveled at a bind point leaving a 6 inch run in the carpet. I was told that for all they knew the dog caused it. My dog doesn't hunt and it doesn't chew. The run was caused by vacuuming the carpet. This is hardly extraordinary wear and tear. I was told unconditionally that they would NOT be providing us with any kind of repair (we were told that they could recommend a repair person that we could pay). In other words, this is a company that will not stand behind their carpet for even a few months. I would NOT recommend ANYONE using Empire. I was told that because it was custom cut, there was NO warranty. Given their stance, my carpet could have developed a run the next day and they would do nothing. I was in essence told as much. My sense is that the value of a company's service is evident only evident when something goes wrong. The value of their service is $0.00

They run a quite a few TV adds and I wanted to check them out against the smaller companies. They actually came in lower than the other companies. They really want your business. My only complaint was it took over 2 hours. They wanted to be thorough but 2 and half hours is a little too long.

We went with another carpet company- they were nice to work with, prompt and no sales pressure.

We've never had carpet installed before so it was a new experience. It was a little difficult communicating with the crew, but everything else went well.

Called on Tuesday and someone came the next day to show us samples and take our order. The meeting was over in less than one hour. My husband was even able to negotiate the price down because we were willing to take installation immediately the next day. We were told it would be an all-day job and to expect the installers between 8 and 10 am. The next day we received a call from the dispatcher letting us know that our team had just left and to expect them at 10 am. At that time I was told to remove all small items. I was also peeved because the salesperson didnt tell me that and I had to run around and do it. They showed up promptly and began work. They were extremely careful and flexible with the need to stay away from my girls rooms during naps. They vacuumed each room and put any fixtures removed back, as well as putting the furniture back. Our home looked like a model home and our agent was impressed. We are EXTREMELY happy with the results and the work the team did.

I am overall very pleased with the service I received from Empire Today. I'm very happy with my new carpet!

THE TWO CARPET MEN WERE VERY NICE. THEY DID NEAT WORK, WERE COURTEOUS AND CLEANED UP VERY NICELY. WE WERE REALLY PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE.

WHEN THE INSTALLERS ARRIVED, THEY SAW THE PIECE OF CARPETING WAS CUT A FOOT SHORT AND NEEDED TO BE SEAMED AT A CROSSCUT. AFTER IT WAS SEAMED, I AGREED TO ACCEPT IT BECAUSE IT WAS A GOOD JOB. THEY REDUCED THE PRICE BY $125, BUT NOW THE CARPETING HAS STARTED COMING OFF THE STEPS. I HAVE CALLED AND AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK AS TO WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO. INSTALLERS WERE NICE AND POLITE, BUT I AM WAITING TO SEE HOW THIS IS GOING TO BE REPAIRED. SO FAR CANNOT TELL. SALESMAN PROMISED THINGS THAT DID NOT HAPPEN.

RESPONSIVENESS OF SALES REP WAS VERY GOOD. SHE WAS VERY HELPFUL. INSTALLERS CAME AS SCHEDULED AND DID A WONDERFUL JOB. ALL PERSONS WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND COURTEOUS. I'M VERY HAPPY WITH MY CARPET PURCHASE. PRICE WAS BEST I FOUND.
