At the time of purchase, the people I dealt with at Emerald Glass were very pleasant. However, there were two major problems that occurred. Although they took my faucet with them and knew that the vanity needed to have three holes drilled, they only drilled two. Emerald's response is that my contractor said it only needed two holes. What a lousy excuse as they had my faucet in their possession at the time the holes were drilled. Luckily my contractor was able to rectify this by taking out the stem in the middle that stopped up the sink and glue it on so it no longer worked. I then had to have a different type of stopper placed. Also, when my faucet was returned to me, it no longer worked. The water would not turn off. Of course, they took no credit for this and I had to have new parts placed in the faucet to make it work properly. The second major problem which occurred was that soon after installing the mirror, a black spot appeared in the top right hand corner. Emerald Glass sent out a Technician. I then received an invoice indicating that they would replace the mirror but if it was found that I did something to the mirror to cause this black spot, they would charge me $685.00 to replace it. Their word against mine. There was no way I was going to pay this amount when there was nothing I did to cause it. I use only Windex to clean the mirror and this spot was so high that Windex most likely did not even reach this area. I went back and forth with the owner, Kim, who is extremely PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE. I finally suggested a compromise that they put channel around the mirror to cover this spot as it seemed neither of us wanted to replace the mirror (they scratched up my newly painted walls which we had to touch up) the first time they installed the mirror. They agreed to channel the mirror at no charge to me. Needless to say, I will not be doing any additional business with Emerald Art Glass in the near future.

This was the 2nd time we used them, a recommendation of our general contractor renovating our bathroom. The first time they did a good job but were sloppy - caulking all over the place. We just let it go. The 2nd time we used them we had a number of issues. The hardware we ordered, the color of the pieces that came, was not the same color as what we picked, but again we let it go. The door makes a clicking noise when it closes, but again we let it go. We generally do not push back on things, having done a lot of work like this we know things happen...and sometimes dealing with a minor issue is more hassle than it is worth. Then we noticed, 1 day & shower after they left a cracked tile on the floor that looks exactly like a heavy metal tool dropped on it - chipped tile with crack from end to end. They denied they had anything to do with it, which is what you would expect. I would have left it at that, but when their response was to just "suck it up" I felt it deserved a review and posting. Yes, I was in the next room for 1/2 the installation, and there was a lot of banging happening - almost to the point I wanted to ask what was going on. Wish I had. Lesson learned, hover over your contractor. It comes down to he said/he said, but I feel pretty strongly about my feedback, enough to post my first ever negative response to any service I received.

Emerald originally installed our glass bar countertop for aproximately $10,000 10 years ago. The countertop scratched and chipped and cracked over the years. The glass is laminated in two layers in which the laminate failed in areas alowing dirt and moisture to collect. A few years ago we called to see if they could recomend anything to make it look better and they wanted $400 for a consulation and their rather glib response to our dismay was that it was glass and that's how it is...too bad. Recently one section of glass shattered under aproximately 50lbs of weight. Their bid to replace this section along with 2 other damaged sections was $2,700. Their bid expired after 10 days. After asking them for a revised bid, the price went up an additional $200.

Called/wrote 8+ companies to get an older metal interior railing system updated, primarily for safety reasons. Several did not call back. Of those that did, 2 declined to bid, 2 could only do part of the work, and 2 wanted to replace it with a new system that would not have been as attractive. Emerald responded the same day I contacted them. Sent out a representative to evaluate the work within 3 days. Provided a quote within a week. When we engaged them it took them less than 2 weeks to execute the job. Work quality was outstanding. They are well organized, on time (or called to explain delay), and cleaned up after all work. Fixed any errors when found. This is what I would deem a premium priced outfit, but as they say, "You get what you pay for", and we did.
Description of Work: Retrofit glass panels into an existing metal interior railing system; 17 1/2" thick custom cut tempered glass sections fabricated and installed using custom painted clips.
