Great experience, Kudos to Dino for such great service.
Description of Work: I needed to have my windows replaced because they were almost 40 years old. Called Anderson-they were very nice and punctual, but also very expensive. Called Dino also for an estimate. He came out right away, was very professional, sent me an estimate-which was about 1/2 of what Anderson had quoted. I agreed to the estimate and the windows were replace within the same week. Workers were quick and left everything probably cleaner than it was before they showed up.

All went great. The estimate visit was quick and easy. I wanted to go with a local company and pretty much knew what type of window I wanted. Dino provided me with all the helpful information about Dun-Rite's replacement windows and answered my questions. He took measurements and estimated that it would be about 4-6 weeks until installation. Just about 6 weeks later on our scheduled install day the guys came to replace the windows. It was an all day job and everything went well. I'm super happy with the quality of the work they did, with the windows themselves, and with the friendly professional experience that I had with the company from start to finish.

When we called Dun-Rite, Dino Trasatti (owner) made an appointment to come out and talk to us. Dino arrived on time and brought somebody with him to measure the doors. While he was here he looked the job over, did some preliminary measurements, talked to us about our options, and promised to get us a price within a few days. The proposal arrived in a timely manner and the price was very fair. Once we contacted Dino to let him know we wanted to move forward, he scheduled to come back out and measure everything. Again, Dino showed up on time, did all the measuring, and provided us a contract. He was concerned about the bay window measurements and sent some of his installers out to double-check it. Just to be on the safe side, Dino brought a representative from the window manufacturer out to check the measurements on the bay window. We were very impressed with his thoroughness and attention to detail. The doors came in first and they called to schedule installation. Tom and his helpers arrived on time and installed both entry doors in one day. Everything was installed correctly, the doors are beautiful, and they cleaned up when they were finished. When the windows came in, Dino called and scheduled the install. John and John showed up right on time on the scheduled days. They were professional and cleaned up after each installation. The attention to detail is very much appreciated. On the day that the bay window was being installed, I looked outside at one point to see seven men working on it! Dino wanted to make sure the job was done! The doors and windows are beautiful and we would definitely recommend Dun-Rite to anybody who is looking to replace doors or windows. Dun-Rite lived up to their name and reputation.

I've called this company twice over a three week period to request that someone come to my house to give me an estimate on basement window installation. Both times I was told I would be contacted by another individual to schedule the estimate but I've never been called back. I will be going to someone else for my basement windows.

I am sorry for the not getting back to you. I was away the week of June 20th but the office was open. I went thru the messages twice to see if I missed your call but found no messages. I'm not sure what happened but I know that it is in my best interest to return phone calls. Again I apologize and if you have no success finding another contractor please call us back and ask for me (Dino) and I will make sure that I call you back within 24 hours.

The work performed by Dun Rite overall went fairly well. As described above, I utlimately had six glass block windows installed in my basement. I contacted Dun Rite for an estimate. Since I already measured my windows, I was able to receive a ballpark estimate based on my measurements. Once I decided to use Dun Rite, someone came out to confirm my measurements and nailed down the price of the windows. After signing the contract, I had a bit of difficulty with scheduling, as I was told it would be one week, then it was pushed back to another. Not a huge inconvenience, but I did have to schedule around my work to take the day off to give them access, which isn't always that easy. Once the date was finally set, the crew showed up on time. There were three men on the crew, and it took them from 9 AM to approximatley 2:30 PM to finish the work. They seemed to work dilligently the entire time. Unfortuantely for them, the weather was terrible (very rainy), and they had to do the work from both inside and outside. The weather made a bit of a mess, but I can't blame them given the circumstances. The workmanship I would say is above average, but not excellent. The mortar lines aren't exaclty even, and some of the blocks in one of the windows do not appear to be level. I doublt they used a level to lay their courses of blocks. I don't think this would affect the strength of the windows - it's more of a cosmetic issue. I can't say I care too much, particuarly given the price, but if I had a finished basement I would definitely care more. Other than those cosmetic issues, the widows do seem to be installed well regarding strength. Overall, for the price, it was a good upgrade for my house.
Description of Work: I had five single pane basement windows (with wood frames) replaced with glass block windows. I also had a coal chute door removed and replaced with glass block. Three of the windows were installed with vents, one was installed with a dryer vent, and two were solid.

Dino showed up promptly for the inital estimate appointment. Dino is not the typical window sales person that I had met for previous quotes. He immediately showed me that he was trustworthy and knowledgable and at no time gave me the "hard sell" I was receiving from other companies. It gave me more confidence to know that it was his Company also. His price was not the lowest, but I chose him because of his knowledge and integrity. The window installers showed up promptly to begin the work and the work was completed within two days. The windows completely transformed my house. My parents had windows installed within the same week by a competitor, and both my parents and I agree that the craftsmanship of the installers was by far better on my window's than Dun Rite's competitors. After two years, the windows still look beautiful.

Called for an estimate on March 20, got the estimate March 21, windows installed April 12. You can't beat that. A marble windowsill broke during installation and they came with a replacement the next day. The marble matches perfectly. They put in sliding patio doors and a picture window for me last year and were so good I called them again for new double hung windows that fold in for easy cleaning and are more energy efficient.

I called for an estimate and they came out the next day and gave me an estimate. They were courteous and raised no objections to my getting other estimates. When I chose them, they told me it would be 2 to 3 weeks until the windows arrived. They called as soon as they arrived and arranged installation for the following week. The installers arrived on time and quickly and efficiently installed the new windows, they cleaned everything up, and I paid them and they left. I was pleased and would hire them again.

I got this vendors name from Angie's List. He had an "A" rating. I also checked out the BBB and he was rated as an "A" there as well. I called them on Monday November 8th, 2010 and Dino came out two day later. He measured both windows and explained that the glass block windows would be hand fabricated on the jobsite (my prefered method) and not factory produced with silicon joints. He indicated that it would be about a 3-4 hour job and they could start work in a couple of weeks. Dino wrote up a complete on the spot. I was satisfied with his price and scope of work so I accepted and signed his proposal. Dino called back three day later and said I would be getting a call from his installer to set up a start date. Phil, his installer, called a week later and we set up November 24th as the installation day. Phil was right on time and got down to work immediatly. His work was excellent. He was very courteous and professsional. Phil did a great job with the windows and the clean up afterwards. I am very satisfied with this firm and would highly recommend them.

We were working on a very short time line to fulfill the conditions of a grant. Dun Rite gave us an estimate, ordered the windows, and installed all in under two weeks. I had to make several calls before someone got back to me after waiting longer than estimated for the doors. But, the overall quality of the work was worth the wait. The installer was professional
Description of Work: When I called, Dino came out and gave me an estimate of replacement of two storm doors. Because my front door was rounded at the top, a special order had to be done. the back door was regular. Within a week the installer came out to do measurements. The only glitch was that it took much longer for the doors to come in than was estimated. The installer did a great job.

I called Dun-Rite to schedule time for a quote, left a message, and within a couple of hours Dino called me back. He was able to come over a few days later, and he showed up a little early. He had a sample of his most installed window (eligible for the tax credit) with him, then he laid out the cost and explained that there is no volume discount. One price, installed, no nonsense, no surprises. The estimate was quick: He measured the windows and wrote up a quote. When I asked about screen doors, he looked at our existing door, confirmed that there would be no problems with the upgrade, then gave me a brochure with the different styles available, again one price, any style, installed. I also got a quote from another company that offers $189 windows, but after adding things that Dun-Rite already includes (capping, tax credit eligibility, disposal) to the cost, it came out to just under what Dino quoted me. I liked Dino's no nonsense approach better, so I went with him. After ordering the windows and door, it only took a couple of weeks to manufacture them and have an installation date set. The installers were John and John, and they were both professional and meticulous. It took them about 8 hours to do the whole job, but it was done right (pun absolutely intended).

Overall, the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth because I really had to force Dino to accept his Angie's list coupon. I thought the price ($750) was at the higher end of the spectrum as others were quoting some $200 less (and another quoted $1,000 to $1,200). On the other hand, those others were also quoting 6 to 8 weeks for delivery and wouldn't install on a Saturday. DunRite would install on a Saturday and quoted only a week or so for delivery, which are big pluses. During the quoting period, I asked Dino if they gave discounts to Angie's List customers. The response (with surprise) was...."...not for just 2 windows." I contracted with them and the team came when promised and installed the windows quickly. While they vacuumed up after themselves, they left dirty black footprints on the walls and hand railings (which I had to clean up). After the installation, I checked the Angie's list site and there was a coupon there for a 5% discount for window installation as long as they were installed by sometime in December. When I told Dino about the coupon, his response was...."oh, I didn't know that was still there, they must have renewed it without telling me." When I said.."yes, it's still there." Dino responded.."and there's not a minimum number of windows or dollar amount?" I responded - "no, the 5% discount is available for those installing windows by December." Dino's response was: "Well, I guess I have to give it to you then." Yeah......I guess you do. I think $712.50 (price after 5% discount) is A LOT of money for 2 windows. During the the discount discussion I got the distinct impression that I wasn't a valued customer. In this economy, I think any customer, large or small, should be valued. Next time, I will seek out those businesses which value customers.

This job was quoted a year ago. I told the customer that the price had gone up but, I would keep it at last years price. If you check in the window industry, $375 per opening with tax credit eligible windows is very reasonable. The cost when the member ordered the windows had gone up but I kept it at the estimate from a year earlier. I felt like the customer was taking advantage when he wanted another discount on the 2 window order besides, keeping the quote at previous years price. I honored it anyway because I value Angie's list customers. As for footprints on the wall, I don't why my installers would have their feet on the wall, I apologize for that if in fact that was their feet. We take great pride in our clean-up as you can tell from other reports. I would have been more than happy to have my guys go back a clean anything that they would have dirtied.

I called several times to schedule an appointment to come out to my house and give me an estimate on installing windows. After playing phone tag for several days, it turned out that they weren't very accommodating in coming out to my house in the evening (around 5 or 6:00). It seems like they were only willing to come out before 2:00 pm, not realizing that people do work during the day and can not alway leave work early. Apparently, business is going quite well for them and they don't need my business. However, another well known contractor is just as busy but still found the time to come out, late afternoon, and give me an estimate, and that's why they will get my business.
