Description of Work: They insulated and repaired damaged drywall in garage as result of frozen pipe and made suggestions and implemented ideas to prevent recurrence of problem. They matched plaster pattern so I can't tell where patches are. They repaired kick plate in the kitchen and made it match existing kick plates. Don also did great job of scraping and painting outside iron railings. They noted various minor imperfections both outside and inside in areas where they were working and asked if they could make repairs which were not part of original scope Don really cares about your home and wants to make it the best it can be. Despite adding few minor jobs they finished early and under estimate. I plan to use him again.

Description of Work: They rebuilt rotted window sills and other rotted /damaged wood on the outside of our house. They were there less than the estimated time- so they charged me a little less. Work looks great. They do much more than window sills so I would not only use them again, but for other types of work as well.

Description of Work: I used Don Kahler Construction last year. He replaced some wood in places that it needed repaired. He also dug a hole and did some pipes plus he put some new fixtures into my toilet.

Description of Work: Had severe rotting on one major custom window that I did not want to lose. Don found the ant problem, cleared them away, repaired the wood and replaced a few pieces. The work took longer that he expected but he did not charge me more money. He said he didn't like to do that to his customers. Believe me, I appreciated his integrity. He also repaired a damaged garage door (great job), and repaired a sliding glass door that would have had to be replaced but he fixed the rotting wood frame. He was tidy and cleaned up when finished. He was always punctual.

Description of Work: We called Don Kahler to get an estimate for a small carpentry job (some of the framing had rotted out under a windowsill). He was very responsive and came out a few days later to look at the job. To our surprise he took one look at it and said, you guys could just fix that yourselves and here's how... We were very impressed that he came all the way out to our house and shared his expertise with us for no charge. He'll definitely be the first person we call for our next project!

Description of Work: Don was brought to our job, which involved painting and repair of the outside of our wooden Victorian house, by painter Rick Nitkiewicz of Ultimate Custom Painting (see review). Don was the perfect carpenter for our house. We paid for his work separately from the painting contractor. Don expertly repaired rotted wood and missing trim pieces on our over-120-year-old house. He also helped us inside the house by finishing doors to a bookcase that had been left undone. Our goal was to restore the outside of our house and to have replacement of missing pieces match what exists or look as though it has always been there -- Don achieved that. In addition, he took care to complete the work in a way that will last a long time (much appreciated with an older wooden house). In two instances we needed his advice on what to do with two difficult areas, one of which was a bad job done by another contractor. Don came up with great solutions for both that look great. Don is also easy to talk to and work with and he likes old houses.
