So disappointed with this poor service. I had a deck put on two years ago, and the railing they used was scratched up. They came back and replaced it with a new railing that was also scratched! Pat said all it needed was polishing (not true- these were scratches that went through the paint on the spindles and dug grooves into the plastic railing). He said he would come by to fix it. Never did. We started calling and texting. Most of the time, we got no response. Sometimes he would text back, “too busy will get it it soon” and months later a reply of “not enough men to do the work.” What a waste of money! Do not use this company. Read the reviews on Google. They are so bad and I should have read them first.

Did not call or hire; just looking at profile.

I contacted this company to remove a carport and build a deck. I signed a contract on April 2nd, and they were supposed to begin work by mid-May and complete the project within 15 days (weather, etc. permitting, of course). By the time mid-May came around, I still had not heard from the company. I got in touch with them abut a start date, and I was told that it would have to be pushed back and he would call back next week. He never called me back, and so I called at the beginning of June. They told me that I was next in line to have mine done, and it would only be a few more days. Again, he said he would call me back. He never did. On June 15th, I called again, and the builder told me that the company was supposed to call me because he had been pulled to a different job. He said, again, that he would call me back after he checked with them, but he never called me. On June 20th, I called the office and spoke with the office manager. He looked up the contract, called the builder, and called me back. It turns out that the builder never even filed the contract to put me on their schedule. He said that they would call me back. Well, then the builder called me back and said that there was a"mix up" in the permit office, some missing paperwork, and that it was resolved. They should be able to get started in a day or two. I waited another week, and then called the township about the permit. The woman there said that there never was a request put in for a permit for our address, either by Deckmasters or anyone else. She checked back several months and still found nothing. So they never even filed for a permit, but of course they cashed my check months ago. After all of this, the company did eventually contact me back, cancel the contract, and give my money back. However, I thought it was important to let others know about this experience considering how much they lied to me and, frankly, wasted my time. I was expecting to have this experience, because when they first came out, they seemed very reputable. Buyer beware!

It went well and the deck is still in good shape 6 years later. Unfortunately, the owner of the Deckmasters East passed away since.

Our experience with Deckmasters was very positive. We left our contact information with the representative at the Pittsburgh Home Show. I received a phone call the following week to set up a consultation. The Deckmasters Rep was early to his appointment, and we were pleasantly surprised to learn he would also be the one to build the deck if we selected him. He spent time with us discussing what we wanted, and actually made some suggestions to add a little something extra to the deck. We scheduled a follow up appointment directly with Terry (contractor) for the following week to view the drawing of our deck. In the meantime, we received quotes from multiple other contractors. Deckmasters was the cheapest, and we just liked Terry. After we signed the contract, Terry took care of getting the permit, and was helpful with communicating our plans to the HOA. Terry gave me his cell number so we kept in contact through the process. The only complaint I had (which is very very minor) was we were a bit unsure when he was going to start. He ended up starting early which was a surprise to us (not complaining). We just had maybe 18 hours notice he was starting. The build process went quite smoothly. He ended up having to dig 2 more posts than planned, and communicated that change to us immediately and clearly. He emphasized safety and the integrity of the deck which we really appreciated. He built our privacy panels himself which I thought was neat, and added a personal touch. He finished our deck in about a week, and we absolutely love it. It is well built and looks absolutely beautiful. We are really pleased with our decision and would recommend him to others.

Talked to Deckmasters at the 2014 Homeshow. They talked a great game and even set up an appointment. However they were a no show on the day we scheduled. I called and left messages but no one ever returned my phone calls. So at the 2015 Homeshow I thought I would talk to them again. I told them about the previous year and they apologized profusely and set up a new appointment for March 24 with promises of great things. So Tuesday rolled around and yet again was a no show. No phone call or anything. In truth I have idea if Deckmasters does good work or how they price but I would just be careful when trying to work with these guys.

The drawings the thought they put into what I was looking for the suggestions on design. They provided colored drawings as part of the bid.

I had very similar experience as one of the other reviewers. I called their pittsburgh northwest phone number and a lady gave me an appointment for June 26. I came home early from work to meet the contractor but nobody showed up. I waited for one hour and called their number and left a message but nobody called back. This is very unprofessional of them. If they cannot keep an appointment at least they should call ahead. If a company cannot value their customers' time how can they be trusted with projects worth thousands of dollars.

Left a message over a week ago and no one has returned my call. This company was referred to me by a friend. Unacceptable, unprofessional. Update: The day after I left a poor review, I received a call and set up an appointment. Randy was courteous and professional.

When I called Deckmasters to set up an appointment time, they were very professional and courteous. The lady that I spoke to was kind and enthusiastic. She set up a time for us to meet with them, and it was very easy to set up an appointment. (This is the higher rating for professionalism.). We were even excited that it was on a Saturday morning--very convenient! Saturday morning came and nobody showed up. We waited an hour to see if they would call. Nobody called, so I called the cell phone of the man that was coming to our home....left a message....Nobody ever called me back. Perhaps there was a scheduling error or time change or emergency, etc..... We would be understanding to that, but there was never a phone call back and response to my message. We then assumed that the next business day, we would receive a phone call from Deckmasters trying to reschedule. No call. It was a waste of our time, on a Saturday nonetheless. We would have understood that situations occur, and probably would have rescheduled with them. However, if a company blows you off in this manner BEFORE the work is even started, why would you give them a project and pay them thousands of dollars and risk having this happen AFTER they have your money?

Everything went very well, except for the weather, which no one can control. We wanted the work to begin anytime after the end of March. Iit took about 2 weeksand the crew were all very nice, polite and professional. They did a beautiful job and Pat was there practically everyday to check on their progress. They cleaned up every evening while doing the work. Arrived promptly in the morning and began working. There was one item that we did not care for and Pat had his guy there in a day to take care of it. We would definitely use them again.

We saw deckmasters at a home show last yr and after talking with them we liked them but decided we couldnt afford a deck so they never came out last yr. So this yr we can afford a deck and keep there card and called and set up an appointment with them. They were suppose to be at our home at 6pm. After waiting an hr and several phone calls to crystal we gave up. They never showed up andhave not returned any calls. I am self employed so i understand that sometimes other meetings run long and you start running late, but there is no excuse with all todays technologies to not get on contact with us. We rushed home from work rearranged our schedule to have this meeting and they dont show. I wont use or recommend them to anyone.

We had some back weather after I hired him, so he never showed up for the appointment. When I asked when they would be able to come back to do the work, I was told soon. They told me I would be called, but I have not heard from them. I've tried calling and I get no answers.

Significant demo of existing deck with expansion to approximately 1100 sq ft with roof over about half. Excellent workmanship, professionalism and met our deadline.

Joe was very knowledgable and explained everything from the beginning. He was the only contractor to do this. He and his crew were there when they said they would be and were very professional and hard workers. They cleaned up after themselves everyday and were very polite. Joe always returns your calls immediately. I would definitely use them again. Can't compliment them enough.

Deckmasters did a wonderful job. Deckmasters did three projects for me. All three projects where completed and every thing was done professionally. I recently asked about doing another project, it's been four months, I never was called back about doing the project. I know they're busy, but to never get called back is just bad business. I received a Life time warranty on the wood, after the completion of three jobs. I notice that one of the 4x4 became twisted, I called them once a week for the last 8 weeks. They have talked about coming over and taking a look at the problem, but i haven't been called back.

It went well. I did not have any work done and I wasn't charged for his time to come out to look at the job. It was determined that we could not do what I originally wanted so did not need his services.

I worked with Joe Walker. He developed 3D image of the deck with was more than we expected. This image allowed us to view what our deck would look like prior to start. Working with Joe Walker I found him and his team to be very professional and hard working. Even with the 3D view of our deck we were completely surprised at how beautiful and well constructed the deck was. I have seen other decks but ours is one of a kind. If you want a beautiful deck. Go with Joe Walker and Deckmasters

All of the workers were very good. They cleaned up after working each day. They were polite and respectful.

Randy and his crew arrived promptly as scheduled. They were very professional, and had the deck built in 4 days. They were helpful with any questions we had during the construction. We were very pleased with the outcome, and would strongly recommend them to anyone needing deck work.

They were unable to make an appointment because they are booked so far out. They called back to leave a message for us to let us know this.

Sam was a very good worker. Very thorough. Took his time and did the job right. We now have a beautiful deck and really added to the value of the house.

I obtained two quotes and Deckmasters was the lowest. I did not choose them only because of the lower price, I chose them because the person that came to my home, Bob, was knowledgeable and professional and I liked their product. Although there were one or two hiccups along the way, these were resolved to my satisfaction which is important in a contractor/homeowner relationship.

The quality of materials and the quality of the build stood out. They showed up when they were supposed to, did what they were supposed to and cleaned up when they were done. They had the best price. There wasn't anything that we thought they were lacking on. We were very happy with them.
