Description of Work: This work was done almost 3 years ago, before I joined Angie's list or before DeFran's joined. Is it fair to write a review now? Maybe not, but you deserve to know what kind of work they do. I wish I was a part of Angie's list back then. I got several estimates to tear out the existing side walk and short wall around my front yard and chose DeFran's. He gave me several references, they liked his work. He (Gary) seamed to do what he wanted with the job. He didn't consulted me about what type of cement or concrete I wanted. He pretty much told me what I wanted or just did things. The wall was supposed to be glued or bonded between the blocks so it wouldn't shift over the years, but there is no adhesive between the blocks so they are shifting and the wall is sagging in spots. Some of the blocks were placed directly on top of each other instead of the typical pattern where the top block is placed over the seam of the 2 beneath it. (subway tile pattern). The cement in the sidewalk is flaking and crumbling. It started doing this almost immediately. When I called him to tell him he said he had a fix and would take care of it. He did this while I was at work so I didn't see it as it was being done. He put some kind of skim coat on the cement, a different color stuff. They made a mess. There were globs of the stuff all over the place. Some areas of the sidewalk didn't have any of the darker coating on it. I believe he had a 4 year old do the work. Well the coating is also flaking off, big chunks of it. I told him he was fired and to never set foot on my property again. Now I have to hire someone from Angie's List to repair it. This company may do a fine job of other types of jobs. But don't hire them to do walls and cement.

OWNER COMES IN TAKING PICTURES OF YOUR HOME THEN; AS INTERVIEW GOES ON OWNER STARTS TALKING ABOUT CODE VIOLATIONS AND BUILDING INSPECTIONS HE SEEMS TO BE AFRAID OF BUILDING INSPECTORS AND OF OBTAINING BUILDING PERMITS. THEN HE STARTS TALKING VERY LOUDLY IN YOUR YARD; ABOUT YOUR NEIGHBORS CALLING BUILDING INSPECTORS ON YOU; HE SEEMS TO BE AFRAID SOMEONE WILL CALL BUILDING INSPECTORS ON HIS CREWS. WHEN ASK TO LOWER HIS VOICE HE STATES NO.... THIS IS MY NORMAL VOICE.... IF YOU SEE THE NAME DE FRANS YOU NAME IT..... RUN......WORST CONTRACTOR I EVER MET.... OWNER RESPONDED TO PHONE CALL SET UP APPOINTMENT SHOWED EARLY FOR ESTAMITE MEETING QUICKLY WENT DOWN HILL FROM THERE.
