Our house was built before 1920, and still has a lot of original knob & tube wiring. Chris arrived promptly and gave us a comprehensive estimate to rewire every light and outlet in the house, replace the service panel, and service cable. He also talked about a lot of extras that we weren't convinced were right for our house, including a whole-house surge protector. He sent us an estimate within one week that gave the total price for all work, but did not itemize so we had a hard time figuring out what we would save if we deleted some items. We decided to go with a company that gave us an itemized estimate that allowed us flexibility to pick and choose.

Contacted company via email and received a prompt reply. Explained that I had a home inspection and was told I needed some electrical work. Scheduled a time at my convenience for a free estimate. Chris was on time, extremely professional, and carefully reviewed the work I said I needed done. He also educated me about what reverse polarity was and why an aluminum/copper connection was not recommended. Within 2 days an estimate was emailed to me. I called to schedule an appointment to get the work done. I spoke with Dave and he was extremely nice and accomodating and willing to take the time to explain things to me. The work was scheduled at my convenience. Two workers showed up to do the work. They were about 45 minutes late. I called after 30 minutes, just to make sure we didn't get our wires crossed. Dave answered the phone and assured me that they were on their way. Again he was very nice. Rykell and his assistant did all of the work in a timely fashion. Rykell was extremly professional and again educated me about everything he did and why it needed to be done. They made a few recommendations after the safety inspection, but assured me that nothing was urgent. They also helped me to prioritize what needed to be addressed first if I chose to follow up with all the recommendations. When the final bill came it was $29.00 higher than the estimate. My estimate did not incoude the $29.00 service fee. When I pointed this out, they immediately offered to waive the service fee. Impressed with overall professionalism and friendliness of everyone I had contact with in the company and I will definitely use them againg for any electrical work I have done.

As we had multiple projects, we had someone come out to give us an estimate first. We received by email a list of each job broken down into how much it would cost. As we couldn't do everything all at once, we scheduled a day to only do a few things. 2 men came on the date agreed on and fixed the things quickly and neatly. they were very courteous and knowledgeable. I would most definitely have them back. We still have other electricle jobs that need to be done, so will contact them. I recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Fixing our doorbell; replace 3 wall outlets with the grounded, 3-prong type outlets; replace our dining room light with a different fixture; and replace the back porch light with a new fixture. They also fixed a light in a closet that was loose.

Chris arrived on time as scheduled. He reviewed the situation, and said that the previous 220 line that was in the laundry room was at some point routed out to be used for the air conditioner outside. He explained there were two options here: a.) we could just have a new 220 line put into the laundry room as asked; or b.) since the old 220 line that goes out to the air conditioner was an "indoor" line previously (and now showing signs of wear out in the elements) it could be routed back into the laundry room, and a new "outdoor" insulated line could be added out to the airconditioner unit. Also, besides being the smart and safe move, it would actually be cheaper since the a/c unit was actually right off the wall of the circuit breaker box, and the line would be relatively easy to put through. It was an easy choice. I was very glad he pointed out the bad situation that was put in place previously, before it came a huge problem in the future. I would easily hire him again in the future.
Description of Work: Our laundry room was set up for a Gas Dryer; we needed a 220 line put in for the Electric Dryer. And we needed a breaker changed in the electrical box that was found to be bad by our building inspector when we bought the house.

The ceiling fan was installed correctly and works fine. I plan on hiring these guys again, quite soon. They're excellent!
Description of Work: CW Electric installed a ceiling fan. But it was more than that which is what I want to comment on. They were to originally install the fan back in June. However, we had not purchased the correct length of rod for our ceiling, so they said just to call them back when we got the right rod. We got a rod at Home Depot, and they came back out to install it. Unfortunately the rod we bought was too wide (although it was the right length). We ordered the correct rod and scheduled them to come out yet again. Then I had to attend an unexpected meeting and had to reschedule. That was not problem and they came and installed the fan on 7/18. This means they came out three times to install one fan. They didn't charge us any more and were great about everything.

They showed up on time and did what we asked. We added a task and realized, after the fact, the scope of the work was half of what was described. I called the owner to negotiate the price, he said he would call me back and never did. We paid 425 for 15 minutes of work on the addition, way too high and never received a response. His men were professional and courteous, I had no problem wiht them. I do have a disagreement with the owner who said he would call back to resolve the overcharge and never did.

Response from CW Electrical Services INC
We were hired by the Angie's list customer to add receptacles to exterior and hang a ceiling fan. When our technician arrived, the customer had an additional task to perform. The task was to remove the weather head and service cable to his home and relocate it to a different location below his fascia board(so the roofers could replace). We had to perform this task while the power was still on. The weather head is mounted on the side of his home approx 25 feet high. Now this job may not have taken us very long to complete, but does not mean that it is not dangerous. We always charge more when having to work with live service conductors, and it is non negotiable. We had given the customer the price BEFORE we started any of the work. He was happy with the work performed. He did call the office later that day, to inquire about the charge to move the service cables. Dave (office manager) explained to him the same thing the technician had explained before doing the work. He had a few more lights he wanted to hang, so we agreed to offer him a discount on his future work, NOT because we overcharged him, but because we always want to make our customers happy. If this customer did not like the price of additional items added to job, he did not have to get them done. We try our best to satisfy every customer, and charge accordingly.

called them for an estimate to hook up a hot tub. after two weeks of phone tag, I finally spoke with a guy who told me how busy they have been lately (good for them) and that he would call me the next day. next day, no phone call. he finally called a few days later but you know what? i want someone a little more responsive to my needs. its not a good start when someone cant take the time to call you in an orderly fashion, and call when they say they will call. I heard the "we are really busy" excuse twice.

Chris not only took care of the problem we called about but also fixed a problem with the lighting in our powder room and offered a couple of suggestions for us going forward. When we eventually replace our refrigerator he recommneded adding a new line added directly to our main power box to lessen the current load in the kitchen. Also, when I asked him about a light fixture in one of our closets he suggested that could be a simple DIY project for us to do and gave me a simple step by step to follow. When we get that new frig I will be giving CW a call.
Description of Work: We had an electrical outlet in the kitchen go haywire over the weekend and the stove and refrigerator were no longer getting power. Used an extension cord to plug the refrigerator into another outlet but we went ahead with the stove being out (Outside grilling season anyway) Called CW on Monday and they were able to come out on Wednesday however we were not available that day so Friday worked for both our schedules. Chris showed up on time and got right to work troubleshooting the issue. Several appliances needed moved to get proper access and Chris was able to diagnose and fix the problem we originally called about.

The installation went very well and fast, including the installation of a new outdoor electrical outlet. To install the new electrical line they had to dig a trench thru part of my lawn. I think they could have taken a little more care in disturbing the lawn as now I have a dead grass line where they dug the trench. Perhaps they could have used equipment that buries the line without having to use a pick and shovel. All in all I am very happy with the job they did and would recommend them.

Our experience with CW Electrical Services was very good. They are located about 20-30 minutes from where we live but were more than happy to come to our are to do the work. They were friendly when we called to ask them about the installation and very accommodating in working with our schedule. The guy that came to do the work was very courteous and performed the job quickly. When we called to pay over the phone they were very appreciative of our business. Even though they were a little more expensive than the other place we called for a quote we're satisfied with the job they did because of how they treated us. We will call CW again in the future to perform electrical work.

My house is almost 100 years old. The previous owner had redone all the electrical on the 2nd and 3rd floor. On the first floor, he had installed 1-4 outlets in each room that were on new, modern circuits (for appliances). We just bought a new 42" HD TV, Bluray player, etc. and set it up in a part of the room without those outlets. We called CW and Chris came out to look at rewiring the two nearest outlets to be on their own dedicated circuit and connected via modern wiring. He talked to me a bit about what he was doing, how he would hook it up to the breaker, and also discussed moving my FIOS cable (verizon was going to charge me $120!). He came out a week or two later to do the work. He was very prompt both times, did the work just as asked and the cost was reasonable. Great experience!

I called CW when one of my fuses blew. They were able to come out a few days later. When they came, they recognized that I needed an upgrade of my electric panel. This work was performed in a timely manner. However, the original problem was not fixed. I was dissapointed and called them up. Chris was able to come out a few days later and spent 1-2 hours trying to find out the arcane wiring system in my old house. He was able to diagnose and fix the problem and now the electricity to that part of the house has been uninterrupted. The charge for that work was only $50. The price for the panel replacement was $1900, about $400 less than an offer I had gotten two years earlier from another electrician.

They showed up a few minutes after 9, as scheduled. I went over what they had to do. They removed the track lighting and the dining room light and brought them over to my new house. They then removed by existing dining room light and installed the one from old house. They then removed the ceiling fan and would have installed a new one, but we didn't have a long enough drop rod and so they will need to come back for that install. They then took the dining room light from the new house and installed it in the old house. They were quick, professional, courteous, and friendly. Everything went great.

They were wonderful. They had come out and given us an estimate. At that time they were very thorough with explaining what they thought the problem was and what we needed to do and why. We accepted their bid and they came out and did the work. They were very professional and were in and out in the time frame they said they would be. We ended up having a problem after they left that we weren't even sure was related to what they did, but they came back out, checked it out and fixed it for free for us. That was wonderful.

We recently bought a house built in 1925 that needed a good bit of electrical updates. After our first estimate, we called Dave at CW to change a few things before scheduling service. He was available to answer our questions and turned around a new estimate very quickly. CW was prompt and the guys we were working with were very professional and friendly. They explained whenever we had any questions and worked on ways to be the least invasive to the plaster walls throughout the house. Work was completed in 2 days. We would definitely hire again.

I received a call from one of the technicians before my scheduled appointment to let me know that they were running late. When they arrived the two man team went right to work. One installed a new weather head and straps to the back of my home where the power line came from the pole. Meanwhile, the other began troubleshooting an electrical issue on our main floor which turned out to be a broken outlet. The outlet was replaced quickly and by the time he was done both jobs were complete. The guys double checked to make sure I didn't have any concerns before cleaning up and taking off. The work was completed efficiently and was of the highest quality. Both of the men were very professional and courteous. On the way out I had them quote another job which I will certainly call and schedule them to complete.
