Everyone has a right to their opinion on the "internet". When a company tells a customer we will not work for him for free anymore or give any more additional advice, well the next logical thing to do: bad mouth that company on a website. This customer came to us for an estimate on a commercial project. After 3 site visits, countless phone calls and emails to keep up with the everchanging plans, we determined this customer did not provide us enough information about his project. We provided 2 estimates and revised each of these twice due to him not knowing what he needed. When we brought to his attention that any service over 600A will require a riser diagram and drawing from a certified electrical engineer (a power company requirement). He wanted us to do this portion for him. We advised him we were electricians, not engineers and could not. So he asked us to do all the leg work to find an engineer, provide the engineer with all of the details and load requirements of the project. Keep in mind, we are working for this guy for free at this point. Our project manager Dave, had roughly 12 hours tied into this ESTIMATE. I told Dave we cannot keep working for this customer for free and giving him free advice. Dave called the customer to inform him he would need to do all of this himself AND THEN we will bid the job, he became very upset and hung up the phone mid conversation. The job was not clear. The voltage he thought he had in the building was wrong. The used transformers he bought online were for a completely different voltage and so on. He had an idea of what he wanted and thought he could figure it out on his own and save some money. Maybe he did finally figure it out but we surely aren't to blame for these mishaps.....We were only trying to estimate the job!

They did a great professional job. Chris was a great technician. He was a bit late appointment was for 9 and he got there at 9:25. Inspection had to be scheduled with the city and I will report back on that once completed but so far everything was great. High recommend them.

Smooth Transaction. Before purchasing, I phoned the company to make sure I understood the offer. Immediately following my purchase, the contractor called me to schedule our appointment. The contractor kindly rescheduled the appointment once on my behalf with no hesitation. They arrived on the scheduled date at the scheduled time and worked until the job was complete. I was very pleased.

They are great! Super communicative, sweet with kids, considerate, careful, worked with me on price when I was a first-time customer. Prices are much lower than others for identical work.
Description of Work: I used an Angie's List coupon so it was $150. These people are super polite, careful, considerate. They switched out an old chandelier and hooked up a new one. Another company wanted to charge me $277 for the same work. LOVED these guys. A friend also has used them and loved them.

CW Electrical Services-- Responsive, Knowledgeable, High Quality work. We needed additional custom lighting in our kitchen. I was unsure of how many recessed lights we needed and placement. The technician (Rock?- Job # 3196) made all decisions easy and the end result is fantastic. We are very pleased. Would highly recommend and plan to use CW in the future. Thank you.

As I mentioned above, it went better than expected!
Description of Work: I had my second floor lighting on one breaker. The house had many additions put on before I moved in. I feared holes throughout the house, but it had to be done. In the end Chris found boxes in the attic and was able to split from there. This saved me money, and there was no patching of walls to be done! Tony and Chris diagnosed and did the work for CW, and I couldn't have been happier. They were courteous, on time and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend them and intend to in the future. Thanks, CW!

This job was a little tricky being that their were many additions and rewiring done in the attic. Turned out that what we estimated did not need to be done and we found a quicker more cost effective way to get to the end result. The customer was moving out and did not want to spend a lot of money to get this inspection report item addressed. I am glad we could accommodate. This customer also stopped by our booth at the homeshow this year to say hi. I really appreciated that gesture!

It was a mixed experience, but there are some very positive aspects, but there are something left a lot to be desired. They are very responsive. They still haven't carried out part of the contract yet and in terms of getting the work, they didn't inspected the house yet. There were additional charges. I had them do work beyond the scope of the work that would not have been included. They were quick and clean and cleaned up after themselves. They took care of coordinating and making that happen fairly immediately and followed it up. I wasn't unhappy with the work they did, but I don't know if I use them again honestly. I possibly use them again.

It was very important that the electrical work be done on a specific day and time. CW showed up on time as scheduled and the electricians worked most of the day to complete the job. Their work was professional and thorough and done exactly as we had asked. Getting the job done the right way the first time is important to me and CW passed the test with flying colors.

This is my second experience with CW, the first time they replaced my entire service box & feed service. They gave me a quick and fair estimate. They performed the work on time and professionally. I now have their phone number programmed into my phone just in case I need further electrical work or have an electrical emergency.
Description of Work: I was replacing a ceiling light in the hallway and after I was done, the breaker kept tripping, and this breaker was also for my furnace. I called CW and they were at my house in twenty (20) minutes. We used CW twice. First go around was well above average, an A rating. Chris did a fine job and respected our home. The second job, by Bill, was to install 1 new wall outlet and fix 1 dead outlet. First, we scheduled the appointment 2 weeks in advance. On the day Bill was to arrive at 9am, he called and stated he would show up later that afternoon. This is a problem since my wife and I both work and his delay threw off our plans for the workday since I was waiting at home that morning and then had to get into work late. As for price, $455 for this job is exorbitant IMHO. It should have been around $250, max. It was a 2 hour job that entailed minimal material cost. Bill also did not have the courtesy or professionalism to wear booties in our home. When I arrived home later that evening there were mud boot imprints ground into all the floors! This was upsetting, so my wife called the office. The office Rep did offer to return and clean it the next day, but that?s impractical for us since we both work and it should have been cleaned the first time. Instead they offered $25 off the already erroneous bill. Very upsetting to say the least. Most concerning is the worker left multiple cut electrical wires on the floor, and quite sharp copper shrapnel. Our dog or toddler could have easily got severely cut or chocked on these pieces! Who does that and operates with such disregard? Finally, the new outlet installed WAS A CHEAP SURFACE MOUNT unit! Who on earth does this? If I would have been home to see this firsthand, before the worker left, I would have never paid for their services, but my wife paid before I got home. This again shows their level of disregard and respect for our home. If I was living with Randy Quade (aka ? Cousin Eddy) in a trailer down by the river I would not install a surface mount outlet, leave scrapes everywhere, and travel through a mud pit in process, let alone in a half million dollar home! If they cared, and had the proper skills and equipment, they would have carefully cut into the baseboard trim using a multi-tool or dremel and installed a recessed outlet to match the rest of our home, and cleaned up after themselves w/o question. Now we are left with a growth of an outlet protruding from the wall and will have to pay another electrician to repair their work. Un-freaking-real!!!

I am very disappointed in our team to read a review like this one. This customer has also used our services in the past. We do try our best to express to each tech how important cleanliness is to a homeowner. The vans are stocked with vacs and booties to help with cleanliness. We did have to move this customers appointment from morning to mid day as a job the prior day had run over. We did call to inform him of this and apologize for that inconvenience. We troubleshot 2 non working baseboard outlets and ran power line and mounted a new one. All of this work needed done in the customers crawl space below the first floor of the home. The crawl space consisted of a dirt floor and working clearance of 2-3 feet high. The tech completed the work by crawling on his belly from one side of the home to the other to run the new line and check the other 2 that were not working. This is not an excuse but could give insight as to why we charged what we did. We always charge more for work in a crawl space for that reason, dirty and hard to maneuver. It is also company policy not to cut into any baseboards, as with most electrical companies. Mainly because if we make a mistake we can not repair it like we can a wall. We will happily come out and move the outlet from the surface mount box on the baseboard to recessed in the wall for no charge if the customer would like. We would have offered this to them if we had known they were unhappy about the install. The customer did call but the only complaint at that time was about the mess which we tried to make right as well. I will personally confront this tech and let him know that leaving a mess is not acceptable and the appropriate actions will be taken.

They did some of the work, but didn't complete the work. On the invoice they wrote, that they needed to come back. I couldn't read writing on invoice, had to call company, and they said they would get back to me. Had to call three times, before they got back with me. He told me they would make it right. I made another appointment and scheduled for two weeks later. They had an opening and came sooner, and they did the work. They charged a service fee and I thought they should have waived it, because they didn't complete the work. I was not happy about that. In the attic, they were supposed to fix the grounding, but they didn't do the work until the second trip back. They didn't pull through on their end of the bargain. The first visit was on a friday and they were supposed to do the grounding, because the insulation company. The man from the insulation company said he spoke with CW and told them, that it had to be done.

I apologize for this customers experience with my business. I am not sure why the tech did not complete the entire work order on the first trip. I looked up the 2nd invoice and we did charge her an additional trip fee which I will correct and send a check to the customer. There are times that we don't complete all the work ordered in a day. Either the tasks took longer than expected and the tech ran out of time in a day or some customers add tasks while we are there which adds to the time as well. This job was from a couple months ago so I am not sure what the reason was for this in particular. We will take this example of a breakdown in communication with in the business, learn from it and correct this issue in the future. Again, problems like these are avoidable, and we can do better.

This is what I expect when dealing with contractors: Don't charge for estimates Arrive on time Review the work Perform the work Notify me of any issues Be fair and courteous Don't price gouge The technician arrived on time as promised. He introduced himself before entering my home. He reviewed the job details before starting. He notified me when he found an issue. He worked promptly, efficiently, and courteously. There was no BS, no condescension. I felt I could trust the technician from the moment he stepped into my home. By far one of the better experiences dealing with contractors I've ever had. I would (and plan to) hire CW again and would absolutely recommend them to anyone with ANY electrical work.

It all went very well. They came out to give us an estimate, and listened patiently while I struggled with the life altering decision of where exactly to put the track lighting. We received a written estimate in a timely manner, and scheduled time for the install. In the meantime, we collected the various pieces of equipment we asked to provide on our own for the install (ceiling fan, wire for the speakers, speakers, and track lighting). On the day of the install, a storm rolled in and we lost power. Was that a problem for the CW Electric team? Heck no! They used the emergency handle on the garage door to let in a little extra light, set up drop clothes to catch debris, and started right in on the work. "We carry our own sources of power, if needed!" They were reassuring. Were they phased when, during the storm, a random neighborhood dog showed up in the garage seeking cover? Heck no! They were cool as cucumbers. I was told to that to fish the wires, they'd need to cut some holes in the walls. They did- but the holes were fewer and smaller than I was expecting. The ceiling fan went right where we'd asked it to go. The track lighting was centered and plumb with the walls, and the speakers were placed perfectly. The TV mount was securely fastened to the wall, and they mounted the TV as well. We did have to schedule a follow-up visit to trade out a few switch covers from cream to white, but that went off just fine. All in all, we're extremely pleased. We dreaded doing this work- concerned that it would be difficult to arrange and/or burdensome to execute. CW put us at ease nearly immediately, and ensured the work was done well. We highly recommend them, and would absolutely take them on again for additional work.

We would hire CW again in a second (and definitely will for our future needs). They were prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and gave us a great deal on high quality work/equipment. The work done was very neat and we haven't had any issues or concerns arise in the few months we have been running off our new electric panels. This particular job was on a small commercial building that is under construction. Some contractors have taken advantage of our "work zone" of a building by being sloppy or causing minor damage, but this was not the case with CW. All their work was very neat and their cleanup was much appreciated.
Description of Work: CW completely replaced our main electric panel, our sub panel, and all the outdoor wiring to the utility company tie ins. They also took down and disposed of our old system (which was and intricate mess of two systems that included both working and non-working components).

The CW office called me about 20 minutes before the scheduled time to let me know the electrician was on the way. I appreciated that call. Tony showed up on time and I explained what I wanted done. He spent a fair amount of time doing the layout of the lights. This is not a bad thing. I'd much rather have them take a little extra time to make sure that things are located properly. Tony did have a concern with one of the light locations, thinking there might be a problem with some framing. We decided to tweak the layout a little bit and things were moving again. Before and holes were drilled in the ceiling, he wanted to make sure that I liked the layout. I did and he started cutting. Tony showed great care for my house, putting covers on his boots when he came in and laying out floor covering to protect my carpet. When he finished the work he bundled up everything and then got his shop vac to clean up the stuff that fell outside the covering. The work was done great and when he left you couldn't tell he had been there. That is the kind of company I want working for me. I was told up front that the lights were going to cost between $135 and $140 each. The price was right around $137. My cynicism made me think that there were going to be extra costs, but there were none. Great job and I won't hesitate to use CW again.

The project started on a Monday, November 4, 2013 and was finished on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Rock, Tony & Ryan did all of the work and it turned out better than we could have ever imagined! We had to have all of the knob & tube wiring removed from our house and upgraded to romex wiring. The job wasn't small and consisted of the guys having to make 4-5'' holes in the walls and ceilings in order to fisch up the new wiring. There was some dust and depris, but the guys were really great in cleaning up their areas as they went throughout the house. They used drop cloths and brought along their own brooms, dust pans and shop vac. They were always on time each and every day. They never slacked and were always working. Because of my pregnancy, I was there for the entire rewire and witnessed it all first hand! I had watched a ton of youtube videos about rewiring a house and it scared to the point where I didn't even want to have the project done. When I had my estimate done, Chris was great at explaining everything that was going to go on and did not sugar coat anything about the damage that was going to be done to the walls, ceiling and around outlets and light switches. These guys did an amazing job and I would defiantly recommend them to anyone looking to have electrical work done throughout their home! Rock, Tony & Ryan were the gentleman who worked on my home and I can't say enough good things about them! Professional, courtesy, knowledgeable and great at what they do!
Description of Work: We had all knob & tube wiring removed and replaced with romex wiring.
