Bob got a dumpster put in the backyard for the demolition of the deck; he and Jeff kept the area as clean as they could after they got the old structure down, and at all times during their work days over the next two-and-a-half weeks. The demo went well and easily, so they were able to get the main structure of the deck up within the first few days of the project's start. They worked rapidly, efficiently, and did a great job not cutting corners. Bob kept me up to date each day after I got home from work on what had been accomplished and what to expect the following work day. When the weather interfered with work, he always let me know of any revisions in the plans and schedule. Bob asked me how it was going (from my perspective as the client and home owner) on a regular basis, which I felt was a very good thing to do... not let something go awry but catch any miscommunications or changes in plans/ideas early. Good communication is essential on all projects, especially the larger ones! Jeff was in charge of all the electrical work and interfacing with me on what I wanted with each circuit, switches, lights, how it would tie into my home's circuit layout-- he interpreted it well and made it all work very cleanly. I was pleased his efforts and the overall outcome. The end product is a wonderful new and sturdy deck--to be stained in the spring-- that will serve safely and attractively for a long time to come.

I am finishing my basement and looked on Angie's list to find someone to do the framing and drywall work. I contacted 3 contractors, and Bob was the first to respond. (I chose what I felt were the 3 top contractors, based on score and reviews.) One did not respond at all, and the other took over two weeks to get back to me. We scheduled an appointment, and he was on time. We initially discussed building a deck, but I ended up postponing that until next year, seeing how busy everyone was. It would not have been completed until mid Sept, so I decided to do the basement first. We actually met about the deck two additional times, prior to deciding to do the basement. On all occasions, Bob was on time and very responsive to my requests. He even took me to another customers house to show me a recent deck job, that had similar materials I was asking for. It was a nice deck, and very well built. After we decided on what work Bob would do on my basement, he developed a scope of work and spelled out everything in a contract, including payment schedule. He was going to frame the basement, based off of my sketches, finish drywall, and hang all the doors. I also asked him to do a double layer of drywall on the ceiling of the main TV and rec room, to keep the noise from being heard upstairs. Part of the double layer, required a special sound control glue that I supplied. The dry wallers had never used it, but were very good at figuring everything out with the instruction that came with the glue. The framing was done professionally and in the time he told me. Same goes for the drywall. I handled all the electrical, plumbing and HVAC, so that was not part of the contract. There was really only one mistake on a door that was installed backwards, and he took care of it asap, without issue. He also had a good idea on how to transition a bulkhead across the room, which I had them do. Turned out nice. The drywallers did a fantastic job as well, and their finish work was excellent. I also have to add, that there was never a moment that I hesitated leaving Bob or any of his contractors alone in my home. Very professional, responsive and easy to work with. He's not out to gouge you on price either. He will be back to my house in the Spring to do my deck. I'm looking forward to working with him again. I highly recommend Cullen Construction.

Bob was great to work with. I have been wanting all my baseboard trim replaced for years and within one day it was done. Bob understood my older home and made the trim work. He consulted with me on any minor glitch. Bob even called the night before to inform me about the prices of the trim that I had picked out. Bob and his helper Jeff were very conciseness and cleaned up after wards and moved all my furniture out and back when they were finished. I told me husband, "I think we found our guy." I will be calling Bob in the future for a side porch enclosure

We met with Bob on Wednesday evening for an estimate (he was prompt and responsive from our original call) and it turned out he was able to perform the work for us the next day due to a weather delay on an outside project he was working on. He was open in his communications in terms of how long it would take and how much it would cost (estimate did not significantly differ from final cost). He ran into difficulty with the installation due to wiring in our attic but he was able to quickly solve the problem in order to continue with the installation of the steps. He cleaned up the area, including using our vacuum to clean up! He significantly exceeded our expectations and we anticipate using him for any future project we may have.

Bob and his crew were wonderful. We received 4 estimates for a job that included demolition and remodeling of a sun porch, installation of a window, constructing a Bilco door for the basement, and the construction of a deck. Of the 4 estimates, Bob's was in the middle but he clearly took the time and had attention to detail that none of the others had. He offered several creative ideas also. The project took about a month which was within the time frame he had given us. They cleaned up the yard every day and minimized the mess. Bob and his crew were personable, communicative, professional, and even managed to impress my 17 year old son! We actually enjoyed getting to know them all. The finished work is beautiful and unique for our needs and we are enjoying our newly beautified home! Awesome people, awesome work

Our 1977 house needed to have a lot of work done on it. We found Bob Cullen through Angie's List,, and he is, by far, the best contractor I have ever worked with. He is extremely knowledgeable in many, many areas and very particular that everything is done right. He is an extremely hard worker. He arrives when he says he will arrive. I trust him completely to work in my home when I'm not there. If he has questions, he checks with me before going ahead with something. He even accompanied me to Home Depot to make sure I got the right things. I think that anyone who hires Bob will find him very easy to get along with and will have as equally wonderful an experience as we did. Our home now looks fantastic, thanks to Bob!

We met with 4 deck contractors but felt most comfortable with Bob Cullen. His design and willingness to work with our ideas and address our concerns gave Bob the edge in our hiring decision. Cullen Construction has a pleasant, hard-working crew. Bob kept us updated and kept to his estimated completion time of 6 weeks. They left our property neat at the end of each work day. We are very pleased with the results and plan to hire Cullen Construction for future projects.

The company was very professional, and performed beyond our expectations. The door was a big job. They installed a double steel door in a concrete block wall of a room under the garage. We changed our mind after contracting Cullen Construction to install a regular door. No problem. Even after ordering the regular door, they accomodated and got the double door, and only charged for the difference in the price of the door. All work was done very well, and the door is perfect.

He was very professional over the phone and when he came to provide an estimate. He was able to fit the project in within days of providing a quote. His work was completely quickly and neatly. Excellent job and did not exceed his initial quote! Highly recommend, as I will be contacting him should I have any other projects!

I had Bob out to fix a door and a gutter. I also had a few lose roof shingles that I couldn't get anybody to fix for me. Bob did it, no problem. He was prompt and personable. His price was great too. I would use him again for sure.

Last year my side porch dropped a few inches from the snow. My insurance would pay for part of it. Bob Cullen came to give me a estimate and it was more than the insurance was paying. So he called my insurance company and because of his call, they covered more of the reconstruction. Bob and his guys rebuild my side porch and it is better than ever. He matched the slope of my roof with the same roof tile. He put the gutters back on and even put a new gutter on the other side of the new porch. It is really nice looking. So I recommend him for this type of work. I next plan on having Bob redo my shed door since it is water damaged and wearing out.

He was very prompt to follow up with an estimate (within 1 to 2 days) via email. He is very personable. His quote was competitive with others.

Bob was great to work with. He was very responsive and professional. He initially came out and the ice in the gutter was too heavy for him to repair it. He came back a few days later when the weather was warmer, removed the ice and debris and reattached the gutter. Bob is a contractor who you can really trust and I plan to hire him for another job. I needed someone to act fast in making this repair and Bob Cullen actually rescheduled some other work he had to accommodate me. The work was quick and first class. I spent about $100 on the job. They did a good job. They were very responsive to my requests. I didn?t have to wait too long to do get the job done. I will use them again in the future.

We contacted Bob Cullen on a Sunday and he took the time to talk with us. He came out the next day and took care of the problem. I know this was a small job but if Bob wasn't willing to come out then I would have been stuck trying to complete this repair. While I was talking with Bob, he showed me photos of some of his prior work; the quality struck me as excellent. I've decided I will use him for any job, large or small. As homeowners, I'm sure we can all get frustrated with calling people who presumably want your business but never return your phone call. This man is different. He called us right away. He's already scheduled to come back out for more work that we need someone for, and it's a lot more complicated than installing a mailbox. Very friendly handyman. Came by and gave us a free quote on what we'd need to do to fix our gutters, and even gave us tips on fixing a few of our problems for free. We contracted him to fix several broken and incorrectly installed downspouts and by the time we were done with our consultation, we also asked him to vent our basement dryer. He did the gutters in about 2 hours one afternoon, and swung by the following weekend to vent the dryer. He did an excellent job on both projects and left no mess. He even leveled our dryer on our concrete floor so it no longer wobbles without us even asking. Very pleased!

Offered to come over on a Sunday to take advantage of good weather. Took roughly 3-4 hours. Did a very good job. Reasonably priced, quality performance. Repaired severe carpenter ant and squirrel damage. Capable of doing much larger projects, but likes to fill in with smaller jobs. Highly recommended.

First, Bob was pleasure to talk with. He was very sharp in all of his appointment. He accommodated my busy schedule and came to the house after hours. He gave me free estimate ( and a lot of free advice). He was very considerate and accommodated my children school schedule. Bob was not shy to say that you need a plumber or electrician when he thought he may not be able to perform the job perfectly. What he did for my was perfect! he saved me a lot of money and I ended up spending less than what I expected.
