I have used them before and so everything was fine. They did it when I wasn't even there. When I came back it was all done then I got the bill and I paid for it. It seemed fine.

Asked for an estimate for a complete roof replacement. Said they would drive by to see the property. I asked them if they wanted to meet with me, and they said no, that they would make an estimate and then I could call if I had questions. They were prompt in sending an estimate, 2-3 days after I called. Now I will say that I have a large house, but their estimate was $236,000 - more than I paid for my house, and 3 times higher than the next highest estimate. I doubt that they even drove by - my guess is that they just used satellite imagery, as I know some other roofers do. No real description of my house was given in the estimate, as is typical, just a very broad description of what they would do. I have to assume that he really didn't want the job - the person that answered the phone did tell me that they were booked through the entire summer. If that is the case, though, then that means that a roofer who throws out a ridiculously high estimate in hopes of hooking a sucker is also going to delay work on other customers that he is already in contract with. Any way you look at it, I find this unethical and unprofessional. Regardless of ratings on here, knowing what I know now, I would never consider using this company.

It took 3 calls and more Han 3 weeks to get n estimate for our leaking roof. Didn't address everything we asked them to review in he estimate.

They did an extensive work on our house in the front. We have a tutor house and it has wood details on it. There was a window box hanging on it completely rotted. We removed the window box and we had the Coffey come out. It took a week and a half. It was a huge project. They had the whole crew of guys here. They were very professional. Everything was very clean. They left front of the house cleaner than when they got here. We were really happy with the work they did. They exceeded our expectations. They were very prompt. They sent out a written estimate pretty quickly. It was right on the key.

Called Coffey and they said they would call back to schedule an appointment. They did not call back instead drove by and sent estimate. I didn't even know they were here. Was so surprised and called them. They got back and explained that photoshooting was how they did estimates. Was disappointed.

Tom and his crew have been fantastic. Their work has been beautiful and they have been very professional. We feel lucky that we went with this company to put a beautiful roof on our new construction.

I spoke with a woman in the office and asked that they give us an estimate on repairing our slate roof and chimney. She asked specific questions about the possible problem areas and told me that they would send someone out to take a look. About a week later I received an estimate in the mail. I'm not sure when they came to look it over. They gave me an estimate and information on a chimney rebuild and for repairing the slate roof. We decided not to go with them as their roofing price was higher than other quotes and we were not ready for a chimney rebuild as we do not use it. We just want it to be safe.

Coffey Contracting replaced the back overhang roof plus all gutters and downspouts in 2003 so when it came time to replace the main roof, we contacted Coffey They provided the estimate and were able to perform the roof while we were on vacation the first week of September. Price was $7900 - 1/3 upon acceptance of proposal and the balance upon completion of the work. Roofers worked from 7:00AM - 2:00PM each day and finished the roof in four days. I would definitely recommend Coffey Contracting for roofing and gutters and downspouts

Expensive, but well worth it. Missed two hanging slates, but, showed up the next day after I called them and fixed the problem immediately with no extra charge. Replacement slates matched roof very well.

Background: We have a difficult roofing situation. Low slow (2" / 12") roof with a large number of skylights. Previous owners did a terrible job and put on a shingle roof. Our roof also has no ventilation - so we would get ice damming in the winter and water would back up easily under the shingles and into our house. Vendors: We looked at 5 vendors for this roof. Initially, we weren't sure what type of roof to put on this house. We were unsure about shingles (if even viable), rubber roofs, metal, etc. Each vendor was taking their cue from what I was asking. If I asked about shingles, I was told that shingles were fine and we could get by on this low slope with half-lapping. If I asked about rubber, I was told about the benefits of modified bits and other products, etc. I finally called a distributor for commercial roofing in town looking for some expert advice with this type of problem. After a GREAT discussion on roof types, challenges, and providing some direction, he also referred me to a few roofers. One of which was Coffey. Tom's bid was inline with even some of our shingle roofing bids (which I assume were high to lower their risk and warranty). Tom has a great amount of knowledge and was quick to point out trouble areas and come up with a working plan. I was comfortable early on in our conversations regarding his genuine knowledge and experience. Work performed / quality: 4 person crew from Coffey - all great individuals. Many things came up during the work that were unknown going in - increasing the cost to Coffey (1/2" OSB underlayment, 6" screws for underlayment, materials/costs for internal and external skylight boxes, boxing in overhang of roof area), as well as the time on site from his crew. The quality of the work performed (in my eyes) was outstanding. There was attention to detail in all areas, a very knowledgeable crew in handling change and issues, and a lot of skill shown in the fabrication of custom aluminum for skylight enclosures and other areas. The team was at our house for about 5 weeks (including some weather delays) performing this work. The crew cleaned up every morning before starting and before leaving every day. Even though going through thousands of screws/nails/rivets, there was never anything on the driveway or elsewhere near the house. I'm sure the team had fatigue working on the same project for so long (with so many challenges), but they worked hard every single day and didn't cut corners. Overall: This was a large, complicated job that required a lot of know-how and experience. Tom showed me that during the pre-work sales process and the team showed that during the job itself. I'm quite happy with the quality and quantity of work performed for the price we paid. I wouldn't hesitate to use Tom and the Coffey team again.

Job went very well. Workers were considerate, professional and skilled. House was an older one with only a few square and level corners. When the guys were finished the house looked straighter. I was also very happy with the flashing and metal cladding on the dormers.

I contacted Tom and he got back to me quickly and came to my house to give me an estimate. He mailed the estimate right away. My husband had some questions and Tom made a second visit and answered all our questions. We signed the contract on the spot. Tom and his crew arrived within a few days. I was very impressed with Tom's crew. They are very polite and professional. Other than the normal noise associated with a roofing project they were quiet workers. They did a cleanup every day and at the end of the project. They were so thorough in their clean up. I was very impressed. They did a great job!

The day after my initial call, the owner of the copmay came out to assess the problem area. With the next day or 2 I received a written estimate. I then realized that I had a 2nd issue of rerouting a dryer vent. The owner said that both problems would be fixed at the same time. Work on both issues was completed in a timely & professional manner. .

Peeling paint and water coming through the bottom of the box gutters were the sure signs of problems with our box gutters. After getting estimates and suggested repair approaches from several contractors, we chose Coffey Contracting. Mr. Coffey was prompt and courteous in preparing the estimate and thorough in his explanations and answering our questions. He was able to start work soon after we decided to proceed. There were usually 3 or 4 workers who were on site 5 days a week for 3 weeks to complete the job. His work crew members were friendly, careful of our property and plantings, and cleaned up very well each evening and extremely well overall.

They were very professional, timely and everything. It is just that we have something to finish before they start. In addition to Angie’s List, they came recommended from a client of ours.

They picked up the phone the first time. I explained the roof and chimney repairs I wanted an estimate for. The first question was, "where is it located?" When I said Homestead, the person said, "Ah, we don't go down there." Now, Homestead is in Allegheny Co., the indicated service area. And it is not exactly "down there"--most of the East End zips over to the Waterfront for shopping on a regular basis. I couldn't help but think this was perhaps a demographic bias.

Coffey Contracting was amazing from the start. The Crew was attentive, hardworking, always on time, and stuck to the job like liquid nails until it was fully completed. Jay, the foreman, reviewed the daily plan with me just about every day. As for clean up, it was done every day and at the end of the job-best I've seen. Workmanship could not have been better!

This company was very responsive. I called on Monday for an estimate and by Thursday we had scheduled the work for Friday. The work was complete by Friday morning. The price was competitive and the company was very professional.

I was very happy with the work they did. They were trustworthy and the most accurate in their quote. They were on time, clean and thorough. They explained everything and they were very detailed in their quote.

I liked the quality of the work. I have nothing to complain about with them.

Tom's crew showed up on time each day, (4 day job). They cleaned up after themselves each day. They found additional damage on our roof and they repaired it at no additional cost to us. This additional work took them an additional 1/2 day and additional materials. They said their original quote was to repair our situation and get us back to where we should be with our chimney and roof. I worked from home while they were on the job and they kept me informed as the work progressed and you could tell they were craftsmen that were very proud of their work. I would have them do any roof and chimney work we may need in the future.

Their price was neither the highest nor the lowest and I went with them because they were with Angie's List. Everything was good except one small problem we had.

They have done work for us a couple of times in the past. Less than a year ago I asked them to come and look at something and they declined to come over and give me an estimate. Last winter here in Pittsburgh was outrageously bad on houses. They were extremely busy and suggested that I call another company. One of their competitors eventually came and did the work. They were honest and still tried to help us.
