After initial contact, Mr. Coffey came out and looked, drew up an estimate with all the details, gave us a starting date. Due to his workload, Mr. Coffey estimated start date was 6 months out, and he gave us a time frame. After looking at 4 other extimates, we found Mr. Coffey's estimates within 5-10% of others, but he had first hand knowledge of everything that needed to be done, an what sealed the deal was his detailed contract and his realistic time an work estimate. Some of the other roofers came out, and after engaging us, called back and tried to convince us to strip off the slate roof and box gutter, and go with ashalt shingles and hanging aluminum gutters. The irony was that we mentioned at the start that we had looked into the asphalt roof shingle option with hanging aluminim gutters, but in the end, the price was about the same, but the look and value of the house would be degraded. In addition, if done correctly, the slate roof and copper box gutters should far exceed the life of the asphalt shingled roof. We forwarded 1/3 of the estimated cost when the crew started, an paid the remainder upon completion. When the crew of 3-4 started, as was promised in the estimate, they remained on the job daily until the job was completed about 5 weeks later. The crew was decent and hard working men and kept me very informed as the work was progressing.

They did an excellent job, was punctual and able to get the work completed before the big snow.

I called Coffey Contracting in Feb 2010 to request an estimate on box gutter repair and brick pointing. Amy, the office manager, was very friendly and took my information and said Mr. Coffey would visit my house and mail me an estimate. I never heard anything again.

I called the company to request an estimate for the antenna removal as well as an estimate for a new roof (which needs to be replaced in the spring). I did not have to be home when he was to provide the estimates. The estimates arrived in the mail within a week after my initial call. I called to say that the antenna removal price given was acceptable and within two weeks two men came for the removal. They arrived in the afternoon as I was told that they would. The two men were extremely courteous and professional. They removed the antenna from the roof and cleaned up all the debris to haul it away. I would not hesitate having this company perform work for me.

his crew got to my home w/n 2 weeks. they were very professional and found that the chimney was worse than the estimate assumed. both flues (one unused fireplace and one furnace) were partially blocked by fallen bricks and mortar (former repointing) as well as pigeon nests. the crew had to rebuild the 8 ft chimney from the roof line. they cleaned out the old mortar from the previous work from the bottom of the chimney; they inspected the chimney for the water heater to verify that it was open (cleaned out the old mortar) and attached critter wire to keep out the pigeons. I was very happy and feel lucky that they went beyond the original estimate.

Very professional. Their quote was very comprehensive-------they noticed some other tiles that needed replaced and they sealed the ridge, end caps, and around air vent pipes on the roof. I was a little concerned as they said I'd probably need to replace it some day yet another respected roofer that I got an estimate from told me that my roof will last long after I'm gone. But Coffey completed all the work, was professional and efficient so I'm just hoping that it holds up for a long time.

After numerous unsatisfactory experiences with numerous roofers, this was a delight. We got a prompt response to our request for an estimate, and the delay in getting the work done was totally due to having to wait and wait and wait for other bids from less responsive (and more expensive) roofers. When the date for work to begin arrived, I got a call around 8 am saying they would have to postpone the start because of thunderstorms (perfectly reasonable). They arrived the next morning at 6 and went right to work. When I came outside to get the newspaper, I got a warm greeting and explanation of how they planned to proceed, to be sure they did the job in the order I preferred. They had to block the driveway to unload their stuff, but worked out a footpath for us. All contacts with all the workmen were very positive and pleasant. They kept me posted on how the job was progressing with estimates of how much longer it would take (weather permitting!). At 5 a.m. the morning before the work was to be completed, I was awakened by dripping in the bedroom -- there was a leak in a flat section of roof they hadn't yet finished. Just before 6 am, after setting out buckets, my husband called to be sure that a crew would be coming in spite of the rain. The owner answered the phone and said they were on their way -- sure enough, they arrived before my husband even hung up. They fixed the leak and finished the job -- and we've had no further trouble through several fierce storms. They hauled all the debris away and left the patio immaculate. The siding on the dormer far exceeded my expectations in terms of how perfectly it matches the paint job of the rest of the house. If there's a nicer crew of roofers, I haven't met them.

I think it was pretty good service. There were some delays in the work, based on the weather. They cleaned up after the job really well. The work they did has been good so far. There haven't been any leaks, They did a pretty good job.

I was pleased with their work, and professionalism. The chimney looks great. They cleaned up the work site when they were finished. I am happy.
