The office coordinated the service call with me, and the techinician arrived on time. He was professional. He inspected and recharged the system, and gave me a ball park estimate for a new system. When he was done I paid in full with a credit card. The price ($234) was about the same as we paid for identical service with another company 2 years ago, so it was a fair price. However, while paying the invoice, I forgot I had a $30 angie's list coupon. So, after the technician left, I contacted the office, and, after numerous phone calls over the following weeks, they sent me a check for the $30. It arrived today (7/28/2012). This seems to be a good company, even though I had to persist to receive the credit. I would recommend them, and would use them again.

Mark Pintea came to give us an estimate. Received estimate and gave them the go ahead. When it came time to remove old equipment it was determined to be a difficult procedure. Several attempts were made to revive old equipment but was not feasible. The men came to remove old equipment and did so very carefully and with limited work space. We were initially told a large hole was needed to remove the equipment but they were able to remove and replace with the new air handler with minor difference in the ceiling We were very pleased with the way they worked-efficiently and courteously. The new air conditioner works wonderfully and they were able to replace the grate in the ceiling with a more attractive cover.

Everything went very smoothly and professionally. Jennifer took my initial call and scheduled Mark to give me an estimate. I was very impressed with how thorough Mark was when he visited my house. He measured every room in the house so he could calculate the appropriate load for new systems. He examined my existing furnace and a/c unit, including the ductwork. His estimate was very detailed and gave me several equipment and cost options. We had a few e-mail exchanges with follow-up questions and answers, and Mark was always prompt in replying. Two installers did the work in two days. They were on time, polite, and competent. They cleaned up when they left. They were A plus workers. I used Climatech's Angie's List coupon to save $300. I was extremely impressed with Climatech and would definitely recommend them to others and use them again myself.
Description of Work: Climatech removed our old furnace and central air conditioning unit and installed new ones. They also replaced some existing ductwork with new, larger ductwork.

I received quotes from 4 different vendors. Climatech was one of the lower ones and with the Angie List discount they were the lowest. Scheduling was convenient. They arrived on time, worked efficiently, and finished within one day. They had to come back to complete an additional task that was not put on the work order. They did it right away.

This was the second time in less than a year that we've used Climatech for installation of a new heating system. Our first experience was installation of a gas, forced air system and A/C. This time we contacted them for an estimate to replace an ancient furnace in a circulating hot water system in a home we just purchased. As before, they were prompt to return calls, perform an inspection, and provide an estimate. You really can't beat these guys. They were so quick and so efficient. Our old furnace was out in less that 2 hours. They new one was installed two days later. Four days total. This included the cutting of custom pipe to hook up the old radiator system to the new furnace. They also replaced some old rusted pipes to first floor radiators. Based on what we know about the prior owners' bills, our heating costs have been cut in half. Highly recommended!
Description of Work: 1. Inspection of home heating needs. 2. Detailed estimate of several heating options. 3. Installation of a new, circulating hot water, high efficiency, gas furnace. 4. Removal of the old furnace.

I got the name from the list as my long-time repair company went out of business when the owner passed away. I called at 830 am and the tech arrived by noon. Very polite and thorough. Diagnosed the problem, explained what needed to be done very clearly. It took about 2 hours. I recomment them highly and will certainly use them again.

Climatech's was one of three estimates we received for a new HVAC installation in a complete historic home renovation. Drew Bosetti arrived ontime and was extremely helpful from the very beginning and throughout the project. Although ours is not a large home (1500 sq. ft) he spent a fair amount of time investigating the property and discussing our needs. We found his professionalism encouraging and were happy to hear him mention potential tax credits on new high efficiency heating units (tax credits which we eventually received). The cost stated above reflects installation of a new high efficiency gas furnace, central A/C, an air handler, and all new duct work. We were also extremely happy with the company's willingness to brainstorm with us on installation of duct work in an aesthetically satisfactory way. Since our renovation was a complete "gut job" we had some flexibility in planning mechanical layouts. With limited square footage, we wanted to maximize living space and minimize random box-outs, etc. We were able to approach all first floor ventilation from the basement and second floor ventilation from the attic via a centralized "artery" that ran in a hidden conduit away from main living areas. In addition to Mr. Bosetti, all of the company's representatives that arrived on site for work were extremely professional. The work was done quickly, on schedule, and as promised. The company also worked well with other onsite sub-contracted services (e.g. electric installation). Now over a year from the job, we couldn't be more pleased with the work. This summer (our second with the system) we discovered the A/C not working well. A call to Climatech resulted in a quick visit by a representative that discovered a small coil leak. This was repaired quickly and under our warranty. No questions asked. We are considering a new home renovation project and will likely contact Climatech again for an estimate of their services.

I had it in mind to have the outdoor condenser unit moved for roughly a year to improve our yard. I had called around a few places who quoted around $400-450 which seemed a bit high. I had climatech come out for a quote and I jumped when they quoted 350. Their residential manager was very punctual and professional. The work crew came was available within a few days. The work crew was also prompt, professional and accommodating since I had to leave to go to work. They were even careful enough to not trample the strawberry plants which were right next to where they were working. About a week after the move, I had to call them back because the unit was apparently low on refrigerant. They charged the system for another $150. It is unclear whether this just wasn't done after moving the unit or if it had leaked out. The particularly bothersome part was that the serviceman claimed that they had now way of locating records from the prior work his own company had performed 2 weeks earlier (I didn't have a service receipt since I had to go to work). I think the audacity of claiming they he can't get records bothered me more than having to pay to have the system charged. Overall though, I liked the company and service and will be using them regularly for my HVAC servicing.
Description of Work: Outdoor condenser unit was moved.

Climatech was the 2nd of 5 estimates I got for replacing my 21-year-old heat pump & air handler. The price they gave me was MUCH lower than one of the "larger local competitors" (which is more of a slam on THEM, really...). Climatech measured my house, inspected the current system, and gave me options on replacing the system. They threw in a couple of extra "bells and whistles" to sweeten the deal over bids 3-5, and I went with them. It was a 2-day installation, and they did a fantastic job. They removed the old system, reconfigured some necessary duct work, and installed the new system. Everyone that came out was friendly, courteous, and professional. I recommend Climatech for HVAC service. Even if you don't go with them, you owe it to yourself to get a quote from them.

They came out the next day to take a further look. A younger gentleman, who seemed very inexperienced, looked for about an hour and found a part that was freezing. I was not charged for this call as the owner viewed it as a continuation of the previous day's call. My parts are under warranty through Goodman, a 10 year warranty. The unit is only 3 years old. They got the part on Thursday and came to install it. The gentleman went to get the part, letting me know this was part of labor. He attempted for about 30 minutes to get it installed. I then recommended he called the Goodman hotline. He finally, after several phone calls to them was able to get the part installed. The final bill for this was $330. I called to see about getting a partial refund, and the owner offered $30 off of a winter tune-up. I will not be calling them for that.
Description of Work: I had a furnace problem on Memorial Day Sunday. I called someone out to take a look. The gentleman came out and looked at the system (about 45 minutes) without finding a problem, but got it to finally come on. That was about $145 for the Holiday call.

On May 30th the member called into our office for service for a no cooling issue with her air conditioner. We dispatched a service technician who upon arrival found that we were the second company to take a look at this issue. The installing contractor had been there just previous to our arrival. Her outdoor disconnect switch had been turned off by the first company who informed her that she had a bad TXV valve. Our technician turned the switch on and was able to get the unit running. We returned on June 1st and found the compressor was overheated. The technician cooled the compressor and retested the system and found that the TXV valve on the indoor air handling unit was indeed faulty. This call was ran to the member's house at our expense. Upon receiving the information in our office we were able to verify that the equipment was under a manufacturer warranty for parts only, Goodman does not reimburse any company for the labor portion of a warranty repair unless the customer purchased an extended warranty at the time of installation. The member was informed that she could expect the charges for the repair to be $200 - $300 plus the cost of any refrigerant that may or may not be needed to ensure the system was running properly. She agreed to these terms and asked us to perform the work. On June 2nd, we returned with the TXV. Upon installation of the part the technician noticed that the TXV that was provided to us by Goodman was different than that which was currently installed in the unit. The technician contacted Goodman's technical support to ensure that the part we were installing was in fact the correct part and to determine if there were any additional steps that needed to be taken with respect to the repair that would ensure the unit would operate by manufacturer's standards. In no way was this technician inexperienced, in fact this technician has over 20 years of service experience within the industry. The call to technical support is something that any one of our technician's would have made and is in fact company procedure. The technician made the necessary repair and added 4 lbs of refrigerant to her air conditioning system. The system was retested with all manufacturer's guidelines met and was found to be functioning properly. Charges to the customer were within the originally quoted amount, $330.00 which included the refrigerant which is $23/ lb. When the member called in expressing her dissatisfaction with our service we explained to her that she was only charged for what was necessary to ensure her equipment was working properly. As a courtesy we offered her a $30 credit off of a future service.

I ended up going with this vendor after talking to another and reading the reviews on this site. They showed up promptly in the morning and probably spent about 90 minutes max. It turns out that the system wasn't the issue and it was the use of resistant flow air filters (the kind that traps everything), which clogged pretty quickly. They opened the system and explained the problem and resolution to me thoroughly. They also took some rags and wiped down the inside without me asking, in addition to giving me some advise on what type of filters to not use etc. I would not hesitate to give them a call. The price was okay, but $90 of it was for showing up which is kind of high for the Pittsburgh market. However, I'm glad I wasn't charged anymore and the system working fine with minor fixes.
Description of Work: They cleaned the inside of the heating unit and checked it for issues. The issue was a clogged air filter which I wouldn't have guessed since the filter hasn't reached its end of life. They also checked a couple of things with the system to ensure there isn't anything that could potentially break. Overall, they were knowledgable and explained/answered all of my question.

We had a situation where we had just changed our furnace a couple of months ago. The heat just wasn't coming through and actually the vents were blowing cold air. I searched on Angie's list for some one who is reliable and at 6:30p I called two of the listed providers, none of whom answered. The third on my list was Climatech who appeared to have an answering service. The call service rep took down details from me and I was expecting he would call me back. Instead, he asked me to hold and then came back shortly saying he was connecting me to the service expert, Ed. Ed asked a few details and promised he would be there in an hour and half. He sure did and fixed our problem in short order. Very pleasant to deal with and very efficient. He also offered to re-set our thermostat settings for us. Kudos to Climatech and their team. I am a big fan!
Description of Work: Their service expert, Ed, showed up at the promised time and fixed our problem very quickly and efficiently. Not only that, they also identified a warranty service opportunity. Very impressed and will be recommending them to everyone.

Great. He showed up on time. I had some questions about moving a radiator and A/C options that he answered patiently and thoughtfully. He advised me to have some old radiator lines looked at if I chose to do the work I was thinking about. He cleaned my boiler, asked if he could replace the thermocouple and then did so. He suggested two more things that I can do to get my heating in tip-top shape for the winter. He did accidentally leave his tools at my place and had to come back and hour or so later to get them, which wasn't a big deal as someone was home. Overall good experience.

Service person came on time and spent about 3 hours cleaning 2 furnaces and 1 AC unit of my house. He went over the units and said they are in good shape and also suggested I replace the old ignitors for both furnaces, which were both fairly old. He also adjusted the gas pressure on both furnaces. When cleaning the AC unit, he noted that it looked like it had not been cleaned (ever!) by the previous owner of the house and the freon pressure was probably off. He was correct and added about 1 1/2 lbs. of new freon to the compressor. The cleaning and correct freon content will make it much more efficient.

I don't remember how much we spent. They were good. They came when they said they were going to. They installed the furnace and recently we had something similar to a humidifier installed. We haven't had any problems with it and it works. We did get a break on the price plus we get a tax credit for using that type of furnace. We already have central air-conditioning and now we have a new furnace, so I don't see them doing anything else for us because there is nothing else they can do for us. I am not sure if they do the yearly maintenance, but if they did, we would use them.

The company came when they said they would come. The crew cleaned up every day so we did not have much residual dust in the house. The written bid was a bit confusing in that it said the system was a 16.5 SEER when in fact it was a 14.5 SEER unit which when used in conjunction with the specific air handler we got made it work at a 16.5 SEER level of efficienty. This should have been spelled out in the contract.
Description of Work: We originally received bids to install new airconditioning for both our 2nd and 3rd floors. When the prices came in for more than we felt we could spend Drew Bosetti provided us with another solution to air condition the third floor using a high efficienty unit. The energy efficiency rating for this sytem made us eligible for a tax credit. So, not only were we taking care of our son's allergy issues, but we are doing it in an environmentally friendly way.

Although ClimaTech?s technican, Bob Black, did a fair job we would not use ClimaTech?s services again. On the positive side Bob was courteous and answered all our questions in reference to our heat pump and tankless hot water heater. He made three trips to our house. He showed respect for our schedule by calling prior to the appointment time to let us know he was on his way. If he was running late, he made a courtesy call to let us know his approximate arrival time. However, we are very dissatisfied with ClimaTech?s billing procedures. 1. First, ClimaTech attempted to give us a bill for $135 for one hour of labor plus a $45 pickup fee. The moment the truck entered the driveway until the repair and bill were complete was less than 30 minutes. (We had to dispute the hour charge to only pay the actual time spent.) 2. Second, ClimaTech padded the bill with a $45.00 charge. ClimaTech claims this is a parts picking up fee. (This part was covered under warranty.) 3. Third, no bill itemizing the charges was provided (to date) despite multiple requests. We tried to discuss this padded charge with ClimaTech?s representative, Jennifer. Jennifer stood by the $45.00 fee and refused to waive it as an act of customer service. ClimaTech claims on their website, ?ClimaTech?s Vision is to provide the best service experience our customers will ever have.? In addition, they claim, ?ClimaTech learned long ago that earning your trust and developing a long term relationship is more desirable for both of us.? ClimaTech does not live up to these claims. Part of the service experience is the bill. How can anyone trust a company that adds extra charges to the bill with a focus on making a fast dollar? In order to make this situation right ClimaTech needs to stand by their web site customer service claims and reimburse the $45.00 charge. Now 3 weeks later the system failed. When we looked at the tankless hot water heater the maintenance that Bob Black said that he would do to the system was not completed. Now mud and Rust cover the filters. The build up of the mud and rust had been there for more than 3 weeks.
Description of Work: Diagnosed a failing water heater. Unit was less than a year old and under parts Warranty from Bosch. The ClimaTech technician assured us ClimaTech could do the warranty repair for only a labor charge, estimated between 30 minutes and 1 hour. ClimaTech ordered the part that was to be available in 3 days. 8 days later they came out with the part and installed it in under 30 minutes.

On March 9th, 2009, we received a service call from the members' regarding their Bosch RP27PT tankless water heater system. They informed me that they did not have hot water and that their system was less than one year old. I told them that we were not a BOSCH authorized dealer and that we do not install or service their products. I also informed them that they may want to contact the contractor that installed the system for them to honor their warranty on the installation. They stated that they had other problems with the system and wanted us to look at it. I told them that our diagnostic rate was $90 for us to find the problem and the repair would be quoted separately. After diagnosing the problem on March 9th, our technician found that the thermal limit assembly needed to be replaced. The manufacturer warranty on this water heater was 1 year from the date of installation provided that the homeowner had proof of the installation date. They were quoted $135 for labor and travel for part pick up. Our technician asked that we allow 1 hour for installation as he was not familiar with the equipment. The allowance for this quote was $90 for one hour of parts replacement and $45 for 1/2 hour parts pick up. They emailed a copy of their canceled check to show that the installation was within one year and the part was ordered through the local distributor. Since we do not install the BOSCH equipment, we do not have an account with them to order factory direct and must go through the distributing warehouse. The part arrived 8 days later and was installed the next day. During the service call on March 18th to replace the thermal limit it came to my attention that it did not take the full hour for the parts replacement, but only took 1/2 hour. I spoke with the member on the phone and told him I would gladly credit the remaining 1/2 hour bringing the total of the service call to $90. At no time was this disputed, as soon as we became aware of the situation it was taken care of. When the technician left their home, all elements of the hot water heater were in working condition. We were not aware of an additional failure three weeks later or the service would have been provided under a call back status at no additional charge provided that the service issue was the same. The invoice marked paid with a breakdown of charges was mailed to the customer on March 30th, 2009. If this was no received, we will be happy to send an additional copy. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service standards and believe with 100% confidence that our Vision, Philosophy and Missions hold true. This is the reason that I asked the members to contact their installing contractor, I did not want them to pay for a repair that may have been covered under their contractor's warranty period. -Jennifer Garcia, Presidential Operations
