+ -1 moreI called them and they came out promptly. He came right as promised. He did the job. I felt good about leaving him to do the work. I was given four bids twice the amount that they charged so they could've gouged me with the price but they didn't. I will definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: He put down 120 sq ft of concrete on my sidewalk. He also repaired two pieces of a curb that were damaged.

Description of Work: I needed a small stretch of sidewalk replaced. I had contacted other contractors but they were not interested. Chick was responsive and gave me a fair price. The work was done well and on time. |I will use Chick's concrete again, if I have the need, and will recommend him to others.

Description of Work: Chick's concrete was one of two low estimates that we obtained for replacing a 100 ft driveway, a curb at the top of the driveway and a retaining wall that we share with our neighbors. Chick's company works more slowly and carefully than some of the concrete companies. He and his guys talk with the home owners to make sure that everything is correct as the work progresses. There were some surprises when the old driveway was removed; the retaining wall was much thicker than they had originally thought. They took all of this in stride and provided us with a beautiful, exposed aggregate driveway, which they quickly sealed after it was dry. The wall is quite sturdy and reinforced with ree-bar attached to the original concrete wall. It will be there for quite some time, I am sure. They pressure washed several adjoining concrete structures, such as our back stoop, and some front sidewalks in front of our house, close to the new driveway. They just did this. We also asked them to pressure wash a remaining part of the retaining wall to match the new wall. They did this and they also filled a small crack in another higher curb near the back. They also sealed two sidewalks that another contractor had not sealed. All in all we were very pleased with Chick's work and his pleasant demeanor throughout. He is someone you can talk to and that is important to us. Our neighbors also asked him to replace a sidewalk next to the retaining wall, several additional sidwalks around their house, and one section of their driveway. They did everything quite well.

+ -1 moreWe had originally contracted to have the driveway and drain replaced. The day they arrived they pointed out the the retaining wall was leaning towards the new driveway they were constucting. I felt a little pressured as they tried to convince me that I should replace the retaining wall. The explained that the wall would eventually fall and could possibly damage the new driveway they were installing. Evenually I agreed to have the wall replaced, which resulted in an increase in the cost by ~60%. They hand worked the retaining wall so with a pattern. The compliments I get are generally not about the driveway, but about the wall. They did a really nice job. It did take a few follow up calls to coordinate the final sealing of the concrete a few weeks later. About a year after the driveway was installed we purchase a new Town and Country van and the front flap at the bottom of the vehicle scrapes the entrance to the driveway when we pull in and out, indicating that the driveway should have been sloped a little less steep. In fairness, this did not happen with the vehicles that we had when they did the original work and there is a substantial drop from the street to the garage. We have very happly with the driveway and wall and glad that we had them do the work.
Description of Work: We had our gravel driveway, which sloped down toward our garage replace with a concrete driveway and metal drain at the bottom. We also had our block retaining wall replaced with a concrete retaining wall.

+ -1 moreGreat. They showed up when scheduled, the guys created a very beautiful and interesting patio design, they made th sidewalks more user-friendly, they exercised care of my existing shrubs during design, and we've got lots of compliments on the finished patio and sidewalks!
