Description of Work: This company was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. | |We wanted my grandmother's china cabinet moved from my father's home to our home. Three guys arrived on time and assessed the situation: | |The cabinet was/is very old, probably also belonged to my grandmother's mother. Lots of glass on 3 sides of it; glass door in front with a glass panel on each side of it. One of its panes of glass, a side panel, had been broken accidentally about 4 months previously and because one of its legs had been broken years ago when it was first moved to my parents' home, none of its legs were attached at the time of this current move. | |At any rate, I was hoping Bruce Schmidt Moving Company could move the entire cabinet WITH the broken pane still in place as we are having replaced and I wanted the glass still in place in case it would be needed. | |I have always loved this china cabinet and I have to say going into this, I was really nervous about how this was all going to go but let me tell you, these guys handled the entire move perfectly. They knew how to protect the glass, how to move it, wrap it and hold it down and how to drive with the cabinet safely tucked in the truck, and unload it safely. The cabinet got here perfectly; the broken glass didn't even budge. They moved it to our second floor easily and without incident after first moving another piece of furniture to the downstairs. | |I was so thrilled, so positively thrilled and relieved, too. + -1 moreOur belongings were in storage for at least 2 weeks, possibly a month. When he sent his crew to bring back the furniture, they put the Spinnet piano on a dolly. They had to back it up at least three times in order to get it from the center hallway into the formal living room. It wasn’t balanced on the dolly correctly, so it cut deep groves into our newly refinished floor. I called the company about the situation. The supervisor called Bruce Schmidt and told him what had happened. They came over and saw the damage and indicated that he would take care of it. I presumed that this meant that he would reimburse me for getting the floors fixed. We weren't able to get them refinished, as our home was built in 1848 and didn't have another refinishing in it. I had two men come out and they worked on removing the deep groves, re-staining, and covering them in polyurethane, all by hand. He refused to pay for the damages. Even today, you can still see the marks where the repairs had to be done from the damages they caused. I would definitely not recommend them to others.
Description of Work: They moved our belongings to storage, so that we could get our floors refinished.

Description of Work: Bruce was quick to respond to calls, very friendly and courteous, and easy to work with. His crew were the nicest moving men I've met. They are a local Pittsburgh family business and give a very fair price. Bruce helped me move my aunt's furniture during a crunch period. I will use them again and again, and have recommended them to our friends or family who need movers. Thanks Bruce!

+ -1 moreThey didn't know that I had done much of the packing myself. This allowed them to complete the move faster. Gave me a quote over the phone and the price was significantly less since I did the packing. They adjusted the price accordingly. They were prompt and very polite, no complaints at all. It was done very efficiently, quickly and at a good price. Nothing was damaged.

+ -1 moreThese guys are wonderful--they take all the time necessary to do a thorough job. They not only moved me, but helped fix my dining room table and rocking chair that were worse for wear. They also put my beds together and helped me lay out my rugs so that I didn't have as much work to do on my own later. They are good natured (even on hot days) and go above and beyond to make moving easy. I highly recommend them!
Description of Work: They moved me from one place in the neighborhood to another in 4 hours. I used the same company last year and was happy they had room in their schedule to move me again this year. And they not only moved me, but helped fix my dining room table and rocking chair that were worse for wear.

+ -1 moreExcellent. What can be a hugely stressful event was conducted in a very calm and professional manner. Loads of breakables moved and did not lose one thing!!! Were very flexible and accomodating with scheduling, came in on budget. Never saw them complain about carrying so many super heavy items up 3 flights of stairs. Movers were extremely personable and fun. Loved the fact that the family of movers worked so well together.
Description of Work: Moved contents of our house (including a piano) from Greenfield to Point Breeze. In addition, moved my parents belongings from storage to the new house.

+ -1 moreWe have moved multiple times before and our move with Bruce Schmidt's team was probably the best one we have had. We booked our moving date approximately one month in advance. The three guys that Mr. Schmidt's sent us arrived on time. They were professional, courteous, very efficient, and careful with our belongings. Nothing was broken or damaged. We were moving in a newly renovated house (with recently refinished floors and freshly painted walls) and we were amazed that they managed to move all our belongings and furniture and place them in their appropriate locations on all three floors without making a single scratch on the freshly painted walls. Also, it was raining that day, but they covered all boxes and furniture with tarps as they were loading and unloading the truck, so nothing got wet. Despite the extra work caused by this rain and also by having to move around contractors that were still working on parts of the house, they always remained courteous and they managed to complete our move faster than expected; it ended up costing us about $100 less than the estimate. We would definitely use Bruce Schmidt and his team again and would strongly recommend them to anyone who we know needs to move.

They were very professional and amazingly efficient, both times working nonstop about 2 1/2 to 3 hours loading their trucks and about the same time unloading. The stuff I hadn't packed in cartons myself--lamps, pictures, mirrors, TV, and so forth, they put in their own cartons or wrapped in padded blankets. They disassembled and afterward reassembled my dining room table and my bed. I could find no dents, scratches, or other damage on them or on my cabinets and bookcases that didn't already exist before the moves. Everything was placed in the proper rooms. The estimate for the first move was around, I think, $690. The actual cost was about $645. The estimate for the second move was higher, about $725, because I had them move more stuff--stuff that I moved myself the first tim-- but the cost actually came in lower: $601.
Description of Work: This company moved me twice, once at the end of May from a two-bedroom apartment to a temporary place--my new apartment wasn't ready for occupancy--then again in mid-September when it was finally finished. Both moves were local.

Our house wasn't ready, so we had to put stuff in storage. + -1 moreThe move was spread over two days (discussed ahead of time) and four men did all of the moving. The guys were respectful, hardworking, and pleasant. They took very good care of our furniture and packed belongings. Our china cabinet was quite heavy and it took the four of them to carefully lift it down the stairs, doing no damage to furniture, stairs, or walls. It was easier than I had ever expected.
Description of Work: They moved our belongings from our second floor apartment to our new house. The furniture filled three bedrooms, a dining room, kitchen, and sunroom.

+ -1 moreBruce was very professional during our phone calls and provided a detailed estimate for the work. The movers he sent were polite, very hardworking, very knowledgeable, and thoughtful. The job turned out to be more complicated than I had expected (although Bruce had told me that it could be complex, the furniture involved two armoires, a headboard, two mirrors and a lighted "bridge", all of which connected and had to be plumb), the total bill came out to be 10% lower than he estimated. I would use these movers again without hesitation. It was a pleasant experience.

+ -1 moreBruce responded to our calls promptly, gave us an estimate, and scheduled our move quickly during his busiest season. Bruce and I played some phone tag, but he always got back to me. The ultimate cost of the move came in under estimate. Bruce's movers were friendly, prompt, and professional. They were worried about getting some of our furniture into our basement (and were ultimately unable to), but they were willing to try. They also were incredibly neat and laid down tarps to protect the wood floors in our home when they brought in all of our stuff. Even our cleaning lady said the movers were neat! The movers also put together our kitchen and dining room tables and took apart and put together our futon in order to get it into the room where we wanted it. In addition to this move, I have used Bruce to move twice before and have always had excellent experiences.
Description of Work: Bruce's guys moved all of our belongings (a large 2BR's worth) from Guardian Storage in Shadyside to our new home in Sq. Hill.
