We used them, maybe, three years ago. They were professional and had high quality. I was impressed with their workmanship and honesty. That's a big thing with them; they are very honest. That's why we keep going back to them. They are very honest and fair.

They did a lot. They do professional and high quality work. It's a fair price. They do everything well. Every time I had the car there they do well.

This was my first visit to Bridgeville Automotive -- previous inspections on my four-year-old car having been provided by the Nissan dealership at which it was purchased. Was advised that the car would not pass because of leaking rear shocks and that front brakes would barely pass and should be replaced very soon. Also they needed to "special order" new wiper blades because they were a "weird size" and a couple of other small items, for a total cost of about $950. Bridgeville replaced a small light bulb and cleaned the battery terminals (no charge) and billed me $71 for the inspection and emissions test. I declined the other recommended work, popped over to Auto Zone for wiper blades ($40) and took the car back to the dealership for a second opinion. Nissan pointed up the brake issue but found no other problems -- total cost $370. That's a pretty big discrepancy. Don't think I'll be going back to Bridgeville Automotive anytime soon.

After dropping the car off, I received a call later that afternoon explaining that in order for the car to pass inspection multiple issues would need to be taken care of, from the suspension to the exhaust. The estimated cost of the work was $1,200. I politely said this is crazy for the scope of work, and I would pick the car up and not have the work done. I some knowledge of mechanical work on cars, so I decided to take a look for myself. I crawled under the vehicle, and there was absolutely no issues with the suspension, or exhaust. Still needing an inspection, I took the car to two other certified PA inspection garages, where both confirmed that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the suspension, or the exhaust, and the car passed inspection with no problem. This place is a total rip off and con artists - even if the issues were true, the quote was double what the scope of work would normally be elsewhere. Beware.

Great service and great price - Bridgeville Automotive confirmed repairs that had been identified by the local Nissan dealer, but their price was significantly less than what Nissan wanted and the responsiveness and availability was much better. Ellen was great in keeping me informed of their findings and progress, and explained all of the charges in detail. I will definitely use them for future service needs.

The exhaust system on my 2005 Hyundai Accent had become increasingly noisy for about a two week period. I got under it with my iPhone and video taped from front to rear. Transferred recording to PC and saw that the flexible portion of the center pipe was rotted. I went online and found out what that part would cost me. Then I decided to join Angie's List to find a recommended shop to fix it. There wasn't much for my area for muffler repair, so I did a search for auto repair in general. That's when I discovered Bridgeville Automotive Inc. They had dozens of raving reviews and so I gave them a call. Jim, the owner, answered and said that they had a cancellation that day and that I could bring it over right away. I never mentioned that I had inspected the system or that I thought I knew the problem and the cost of the part. I just said that there was a new noise under the car. Sure enough, after he had examined the car, he said the flex pipe was leaking and his estimate for replacement was spot on. I then agreed to let him fix it and he provided me a ride back home. When Jim called me to tell me that the car was finished, the price was the same as his quote. He then asked me if I needed a ride back to his shop. When I got there he brought out the old part and showed me the damage and explained the the remainder of the exhaust was in good condition. He also saw a check engine light on the dash and said that it was a Tranny Temp Sensor and not related to the exhaust system. The car ran like new on the trip home, quite as a mouse. I found that every step of the process was conducted professionally and fairly. I will definitely return for future service and I have already recommended this shop to family and friends. I am also glad that I joined Angie's List.

We recently moved here and after seeing this company on AL, I stopped by to make an appointment for them to look at the car. The owner drove around the block with me, diagnosed the likely cause and had a tech remove my tire and fix the problem on the spot. It was a fix that took a mechanics time and when I went to pay, the owner send me home. The whole experience was so unexpected! Between the natural friendliness and honesty of the staff, the instant attention...I've never experienced anything like it and am now a customer for life. And yes, I do expect to make appointments. :)

I have been looking for a top rate mechanic for years and have been paying outrageous prices to the Dealers for years until I went into Angies List and based on the terrific recommendations of prior customers called Bridgeville- the first conversation was so informative and helpful that I thought it was too good to be true - I have become so used to problems with repairs - it was true - everyone at Bridgeville are great - no longer feel treated like a "dumb broad" - and have complete confidence in my new garage .
Description of Work: A complete going over of my 2002 4x4 XLT Ford Ranger - oil change- new wiper blades - checked brakes and all major components on my truck - showed me the old parts - I will never go anywhere else - recently had my front wheel bearing replaced at their original recommendation.

My husband has used this service station many times in the past and had always had positive results. We used them again today for service and they were very helpful and honest. There was a very stressful situation with my vehicle that is too difficult to explain in detail here, but Bridgeville Automotive was very helpful in the matter. We always speak with Ellen and she is always helpful and friendly. I would like everyone to be very careful when calling or having you vehicle towed though. There is another service station in that area with a very similar name and they are not reputable. Please be careful and don't confuse the two companies.

It was because of Angie's List that I sought out Bridgeville Automotive. They are also very conveniently located to our home. I had let the dealer (Day West Liberty Subaru) perform the first couple services and decided Subaru America's pricing or Day's or whichever way the finger pointed was absurd and that I was finished overpaying for crappy service. Jim and Ellen were extremely friendly from the start. They have a problem that most business owners wish they had - too much business from an excellent reputation. Getting in is the only hard part of getting your service done here, but it's worth the wait to schedule in advance for routine maintenance. If you had a big unexpected problem and were a regular customer, I have a feeling Jim would go out of his way to take care of you. They are trying to acquire a larger garage to help meet the demand, but that's not an overnight endeavor. Their price was extremely fair and the service performed was real, i.e. no $100 glances at a fluid or component. I will concede many dealers have higher overhead that affects their pricing, but there is a limit of what I will absorb and the service level has to be there also. Day wasn't cutting it, but we've gone out of our way to go to Pittsburgh East Nissan for years because of the level of service they provide. Jim might steal their business even though they've been good to us simply because it's getting harder and harder to find time to make the drive to Monroeville for service. I'm very happy with the experience and Jim seems to keep up a modern shop making it unlikely he couldn't work on something because he didn't have the right equipment, etc. If that were the case, he would just tell you and send you somewhere that could help. Conversely if you had a really old classic that was beyond him, he'd just tell you. Another glowing review is only going to make Jim's "problem" of too much business worse, but if you own a commercial property suitable for a service garage you might have a buyer as well as a great mechanic to turn to.

I had some work done at a competitor (Midas/Bridgeville, PA). The work was not done properly and the problem was not fixed. They told me it would need an additional $500 to fix the ABS Brakes. I took my auto to Bridgeville Automotive for a second opinion. Jim and his mechanics invested the problem thoroughly and determined that the problem wasn't what the competitor said it was, saving me the additional $500 they were going to charge me. Bridgeville Automotive was thorough, professional, and did the right thing the first time and earned my confidence and trust. I will continue to use them for all future auto related needs.
Description of Work: I took my Nissan Xterra to a competitor to have my ABS Brakes repaired. The ABS light was constantly on and the cars brakes chattered and slipped when applied. The competitor replaced the front brakes and rotors and also fixed a power steering leak. When I picked up the vehicle, the ABS Brakes had not been fixed. That was the reason I went there for in the first place. They told me it would be another $500 to fix the ABS Brakes I took the vehicle to Bridgeville Automotive for a second opinion.

It was smooth, easy, and well communicated...the way a girl always wishes car repair would go. I called for an appointment ASAP because of a new, loud sound my car was making that made me afraid to drive it. They gave me an appointment the next morning, directions to the shop and the phone number of a car rental place that they knew would pick me up at their shop. The next morning I showed up to drop off my car. I forgot to mention that I needed an oil change and 60,000 mile maintenance. All I said was inspection and check out the noise. The rental car company rep showed up without my having to call--very impressive--and so I was able to get to work on time. Later in the day, Bridgeville Automotive called to say I needed a transmission fluid fush, and I said OK. I did mention the oil change at that point, but still forgot to mention the 60,000 mile maintenance. By the end of the day when I thought of it, I figured it was too bad..I'd just have to make another appointment. When I went to pick up my car the next morning, I mentioned that I forgot to tell them about the 60,000 mile check up I need, and they were able to pull papers out to show me they had gone over everything that would come up in that maintenance check...without my asking!!!!! I was thoroughly impressed. They took the time to explain everything to me, and really chat to get to know me, since that was the first time I"d been there. They also explained how their software keeps track of me and my vehicle, so they will always know what needs to be done...and offered to send me email reminders....so now I don't even have to think about when what service is due on my car. I love this place.!!!!! I've hit some kind of mechanic jackpot in this business, and feel very fortunate. Go to them; you will be glad. Also, if you work close enough to them, they will take you to work and pick you up as well, instead of your having to rent a car for the day yours is in the shop. I happen to work a little too far away and too late in the evening for that service...but they did arrange for me to have a rental car at my disposal. They are really great...well worth the A's they get. Try them.

Description of Work: We just moved to Pittsburgh and I was nervous about just anyone fixing my car. I looked on Angie's List and found Bridgeville Auto -- thank goodness! What a find! Jim and his crew are all professional and the most thorough I've ever encountered. I had been quoted by another place (that I did not feel good about) over $1,000.00. My husband had to pull into Jim's parking lot a while back because of a leak in the radiator hose that we didn't know we had. It was after hours and the shop was closed, but Jim came out to help him anyway. He took a look at the problem and added some anti-freeze. He refused any kind of payment. So, after wasting a lot of time, money, and energy over the last year with our mechanic of 14 years, we decided to take a chance with Jim. We recently had a new gas tank installed on our '01 Montero by our trusted mechanic and had gone back to him three times because we still had a substantial leak. Ellen, who makes the appointemnts, is a joy! It took Jim about 20 minutes to find an unconnected hose. He called us to tell us he was done and that he noticed the SUV was due for inspection by 2/2012 and asked if we'd like to have that taken care of as well. Living in Bethel Park, the shop is not convenient, but we have found our new garage! Honesty, trust, quality of service, and reasonable fees are well worth the inconvenient location.
