He arrived on time and was courteous but a week later sent an email saying that in order for him to send out his quote he was going to charge $100 for coming out to do the estimate! He had never mentioned this before - extremely unprofessional. If he is not upfront before coming out to do an estimate, I would be very skeptical of any quotes I got from him. In the process of getting quotes for a bathroom renovation, I have had a couple of potential contractors that have said they charge to come out to do a quote - I have politely declined and have moved on. His email states: I wanted to mention a $100.00 design fee that I charge. This will include up to 3 drawings, to scale, for the bathroom. If you want me to fax the drawings, I can also send an invoice. Of course, if I end up doing the work you will be credited for the $ 100.00. Why couldn't he have said this BEFORE coming out? By the way, he also did not take off his shoes and after going outside to check a couple of things, dirtied the carpet (not a big deal but gives one a little bit of insight).
Description of Work: He came out to give us an estimate.

Response from BNQ Inc
I was not charging for the estimate. I was charging for doing drawings and designing. It was not mentioned before hand because I was not aware I was going to be acting as architect and designer. I would have gladly provided a free estimate, but in this case I was shown a giant room and told to make sense of it for the customer. I would have been happy to take a set of plans from someone else and followed them. I doubt those plans would have been obtained for free.

Not taking any new business. Just want to save others time from calling and getting no response.
Description of Work: They are not taking on any new business. I called for an estimate and got a voice mail message to send an e-mail to set up an appointment. I immediately got an automatic e-mail reply stating the company is not taking on any new work at this time.

We are currently taking on new work. This woman obviously didn't email me or try to contact me anytime lately.. The auto-reply was on my email while I was away on vacation with my family at the end of July. I don't know why she waited until now to fill out this report.

Carmen had to move the shower drain. I relied on Carmen to select the accompanying fixtures and I could not be happier with his selections. I truly appreciate his concern for price and quality--he is NOT a money grabber--his main concern is your satisfaction with the finished product.
Description of Work: Completely removed the original basement bathroom and installed ceramic tile shower and floor, new walls, new ceiling, new floor. Furnished a new vanity, lighting, toilet, towel/storage space, and shower plumbing.

This was my first time using a contractor for work on my house and I was a bit nervous. Carmen and his assistant Shawn were great! They showed up every day on time (or called/texted if they were running behind), worked hard and did a great job of cleaning up before they left. They picked up all of my fixtures at the retailers. They do excellent work for a good price. My bathrooms are absolutely gorgeous and I am thrilled with the results. My master bath involved the removal of a wall between a closet and the existing 3' x 7' 1/2 bath. Carmen removed everything down to the studs. His uncle is a master plumber and does beautiful work. They were even able to move my toilet to a better location after several people told me it couldn't be done. Carmen suggested installing a light behind the shower in an alcove, as well as two additional lights in the closet. I was afraid that this change order would be costly but it was very reasonable and he made sure I approved it before beginning work. They built a shower floor, the shower walls and Shawn (his helper) did a beautiful job tiling. They were very accomodating to my request for insets and had a brilliant idea to use glass tile in the recessed shelving area. It's pretty amazing that I have a custom shower that was built for a better price and higher quality than anything found in a big box store. The glass subcontractor that was used did a beautiful job installing a frameless glass shower door and half panel. They even beveled back the accent tile to allow the door to swing 180 degrees. All of this was accomplished in only 3 weeks! We did have an issue regarding a miscommunication involving the shower trim & valve. I had purchased a handle/valve & shower head to match my faucets and Carmen had also purchased a handle/valve & shower head. Fortunately, I had bought a quality trim kit and when they were working on my other bathroom they were able to change out the valve from the back since the tile was installed. My main bathroom involved the removal of the existing fixtures and the installation of a new tile floor, toilet, tub, vanity, fan, light, medicine cabinet and paint. Shawn once again did a great job on the tile and the entire room looks amazing. The only change in this room was due to the location of my cold water supply conflicting with a vanity drawer and using a pre-hung door instead of attempting to retrofit a new door. Again, Carmen was extremely up front about the price for the change and discussing my options. These guys are true professionals and do fantastic work. They're not the cheapest option out there but well within a normal range--you definitely get what you pay for! I will definitely use them in the future and will recommend them to everyone I know.
Description of Work: Remodeled main bathroom including installation of new fixtures, plumbing, tiling, paint. Remodeled master bathroom, building a new shower, electrical, plumbing, tiling, glass shower door and painting.

Carmen and BNQ did a top-notch, perfect job remodeling my kitchen. The work is really beautiful and it's very apparent that Carmen is a perfectionist. My old kitchen was more than 30 years old, so I had it gutted and completely redone. Carmen, and his very able partner, Shawn, were extremely responsive. Carmen gave me an estimate in December 2012 and he was very forthright in telling me that he wouldn't be able to start until around the end of February. He kept me posted as the time approached. He was reachable anytime before the job began and then throughout the entire 3-week renovation. Carmen and Shawn came every day until the job was finished. BNQ works one job at a time and I really liked that. If they couldn't come for some reason on a day, they told me, but that happened only once, I think, when we were waiting for something to arrive. Small things came up during the job that couldn't have been anticipated and hadn't been included in the estimate. Carmen would call me, let me know what was needed, present me my options, and then immediately write up a "change order" detailing the changes and cost. So I always knew what was being done and how much money things would cost. BNQ was very accountable. The workmanship is incredibly nice. Cabinets and cabinet doors line up perfectly, the hardware is perfectly placed, the laminate flooring was laid beautifully, each new appliance was installed and worked perfectly the first time, and the cabinet underlighting is awesome. I cannot say enough about how professional and beautiful the job looks. I smile every time I walk into the room. Finally, it was a pleasure having Carmen and Shawn in my home during those three weeks. They are very personable and funny. Each day, they cleaned up beautifully and the kids and I could walk through the kitchen without tripping over equipment. They touched base with me when necessary and welcomed my feedback at any time. I am very happy that I chose BNQ and I would recommend the company to anyone. It was a great experience.
Description of Work: Gutted entire kitchen Removed and disposed of all old appliances and refuse Installed laminate flooring Rebuilt cabinet bulkheads Installed all cabinetry and new appliances, once delivered Electrical work Installed garbage disposal Some extras: BNQ dry-walled three huge holes in my kitchen wall that were made when a plumber fixed a leaking pipe (holes were made during renovation and Carmen offered to fix); picked up all cabinets for me as well as my new stove; bought undercabinet lighting for me after I chose the wrong type

The saying goes - "You get what you pay for" - but I definitely feel that the value I received in terms of BNQ's quality of workmanship and professionalism was much greater than their very reasonable price. The new steel tub was properly installed and supported and the plumbing was done impeccably. In addition, we were working within a very tight time frame since the entire repair had to be done during our tenants' brief vacation. Carmen was prompt and responsive throughout the process. He and his crew even worked over a weekend to make sure the repair was completed in the stated timeline. While the job was in progress, Carmen discovered that the underlayment for part of the floor had to be revised. I held my breath at this point because - after working with several less than reputable contractors in the past - I was quite sure that the quoted price of $2500 was going to increase by several hundred dollars in a classic bait and switch. I was pleasantly surprised that the cost of the job only increased by $95, Carmen's true cost for additional materials and labor. I already have a list of jobs for Carmen/BNQ Construction at several other rental properties. I highly recommend this company!

Carman was great to work with. From the quote to the work he kept me informed of what was going on, and they stayed on schedule during the entire project. We were only having him install our tile in our bathroom and his employee, Shawn, did a fantastic job. They came out together the week before the job started to talk through it and make sure everyone was on the same page. Shawn was on time every day and clean and courteous. I really can not say enough good things about our entire experience. We will definitely be using BNQ again.

All major projects have a few unpredictable setbacks and delays, but none of these were Carmen's fault, and he always worked around them as quickly as he could. He and his main assistant Shawn, were especially conscientious about timing to make sure we had access to at least our kitchen sink and refrigerator after they completed work each day. They also cleaned up and stored their gear each day. One thing we most appreciated was that Carmen always answered our questions or concerns quickly and satisfactorily; even after all the work was done. In Summary, BNQ does good work, they work hard, are responsive to customers, and were honest and fair in doing our job. Thanks.
Description of Work: Carmen Pasquarelli of BNQ remodeling did a great job with our kitchen. When he first came over to look things over, he gave us some suggestions and helped us decide what we wanted - because we weren't sure and had never been involved with a personal project of this scope. We settled on cutting down the wall separating the kitchen from the DR, installing new floor tile, adding counterspace on the room side opposite the sink and then all around that side. The remodel included some new appliances, new sink and new faucet. The project included tearing out a wall and reframing into a partial counter base; removing old floor ; temporarily removing floor cabinets, old sink; then installing new tile floor and reinstalling old cabinets and also securing 2 new base cabinets on opposite wall. Once new quartz counters were installed, new sink, faucet and garbage disposals were hooked up. Finally, drywall repairs were completed.

We were happy with the work and service provided by Carmen at BNQ and we plan to use him for further work on our house. He is especially commended for his responsiveness. We received an estimate from him within a week. We solicited bids from other contractors and some of them took several weeks to reply. Carmen typically returns phonecalls and text messages within an hour of receiving them. This is true even on weekends. The quality of the work was good and our bathroom looks great. Carmen cleaned up the work site each day and never left a mess in the house. We would recommend BNQ to others. Remodeling can be stressful, but BNQ responds quickly to questions and concerns and that reduces the stress significantly.
Description of Work: A complete remodel of a small master bathroom was performed. A new shower was built and tiled. A new toilet and sink were installed. A second sink was added. A new vanity and countertop were installed. New lighting was installed. The floor and some walls were tiled. A ceiling bulkhead was removed.

My initial call was returned promptly. Carmen's initial visit was set up soon, and was kept on schedule. Work was started soon after the tile we had chosen had arrived at the dealer. Work was performed steadily and very professionally. Carmen checked the completed work, which looks very good. The only downside was that his initial estimate of the duration of the job was a bit short, partly because two days were short because the tile craftsperson had to leave early for a class. Overall we were very happy with the way the job was done, and with the finished work.
Description of Work: BNQ owner (Carmen Pasquarelli) estimated the job, including the amount of tile needed (including some spares in case they might be needed in the future). He directed me to a tile supplier, where I purchased the tile (not included in BNQ price). On the first work day, he and his tile craftsperson picked up the tile and came together to start the job. The tile person continued the job. The work included removing the existing flooring (tile, a number of which were cracked and loose) and baseboards, removing dishwasher and compactor, moving refrigerator, scraping away the old tile adhesive residue, nailing down the sub floor if and where needed, laying hardi backerboard, laying the new tile, grouting the tile, re-installing the baseboards, and installing thresholds in three doorways. The dishwasher and compactor were re-installed. (Removing the dishwasher involved installing a new hot water valve under the sink, since the old valve was stuck and could not be shut off.) Any debris was removed daily. At the completion of the job, the floor was thoroughly cleaned, and the horizontal surfaces in the kitchen were vacuumed.

One of the reasons we chose Carmen was because he promptly submitted his bid for our project, a plus since we had to reject other bids that were not submitted in a timely manner. His proposal was easy to understand and reflected all of the items we had discussed at our initial interview. Carmen's original bid was reasonable and fair and included a discount for Angie List members. As it turned out, actual costs and estimated costs were a close match. Carmen kept us informed and up to date of any changes in his work schedule and included us in any decisions that involved unanticipated changes to the original proposal. For the most part Carmen and his workers were careful to confine their work to the kitchen area and tried to make efforts to avoid creating a mess in the work area. Usually they left time for a daily clean-up at the end of the day. When we pointed out an overlooked paint or plaster imperfection to Carmen, he was quick to correct it.Overall we are pleased with how well the project turned out. Thank you Carmen.
Description of Work: We hired Carmen and his BNQ company for our kitchen make-over project. Carmen's work included relocating cabinets and refrigerator, hooking up new sink and faucet, installing recessed lighting and new under cabinet lighting, updating electrical fixtures and wiring, plastering and painting walls and ceiling. Carmen and his workers handled the electrical, plumbing, painting and plastering jobs. No outside sub-contractors were needed. Carmen did it all!

I contacted six different contractors that advertised through Angie's List in January 2012. I chose Carmen Pasquarelli of BNQ Inc. because of his price and he was the most personable. His reviews were all very good. I signed a contract in January 2012 and he started in March 2012. Carmen and Sean were there almost every day and worked all day long. I had everything removed in both bathrooms. They both did an excellent job. I spoke to Carmen almost daily and he answered every question my husband and I had. I was very pleased with his communication throughout the whole process and he kept us updated on the length of time each bathroom would take and what he would be completing. His partner Sean did all of our tile work and it turned out amazing. His uncle - Leo Pasquarelli did the plumbing work on our jacuzzi tub and other tub and also did an excellent job. Overall it was a very good experience for us and would definately use Carmen again. I would have had my bathrooms done years ago if I knew it would have been that easy.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of master and guest bathroom - Tiled the floors and showers, installed a jacuzzi tub and regular tub, installed toilets, installed vanities and countertops, moved light and electrical outlet, made matching mirrors for vanities and installed fixtures.

It was a pleasure working with Carmen. There was never a time Carmen did not return our telephone calls. He showed up on time and if he was going to be late he called and let us know. He is very meticulous about his work. He was accomaodating to our needs. After he installed the cabinets he put a temporay sink in until our granite countertop was installed six weeks later (Carmen did not intall the countertop). After the counter top was installed Carmen came out that weekend to install the drains and garbage disposal to our sink and reinstall our stove/oven. He did an absolutley great job installing the backsplash. We love the kitchen and if we have any remodeling projects in the future we will be calling Carmen.
Description of Work: Removed old kitchen cabinets and appliances. Installed new cabinets, recessed lighting, new appliances, sink and faucet., and tile backsplash. The cost included the cabinets. Appliances and countertop were purchased separately.

Carmen first helped us determine a good new layout for the bathroom, then proceeded with demo, installation, painting. Each step of the way, he checked with us, showed us how he was progressing and was sure to ask questions and/or present us with options so that we could make decisions that best suited us when there was more than one way to complete a task or phase. I appreciated that once the job was under way, Carmen or one of his crew members came every day and worked a full day so that the project was completed in a little less than 3 weeks. He covered our carpet and stairs to the second floor, and cleaned up his work area every day. When we ran into problems with tile I had purchased (which had inconsistencies in shape), Carmen took it upon himself to go back to our tile vendor and exchange tile to get the best fit/match possible. He was patient and seemed to take the problem in stride. Carmen is also very communicative; each day he let us know what was on tap for the following day. His work was good quality, he was efficient and pleasant to have in our home, and his prices are very competitive.
Description of Work: Carmen Pasquarelli and his crew (which consists of his father, the electrician, his uncle, the plumber, and an assistant) remodeled the bathroom in our 1900 house. The work consisted of moving and reinstalling a sink; installing a new toilet; removing old floor and tub surround tile, and an old built-in wall unit; installing new electric and tying off old where necessary; installing new plumbing; installing new drywall in various places in the bathroom including special drywall for the tub surround; tiling the tub surround and floor; installing new lighting, towel bars and other fixtures, and painting.

Pros: Carmen's pricing is reasonable. He is also very responsive to homeowner concerns and he gets back to you right away, even on a Sunday, via text or phone call. For example, there were major nicks in my wooden stairs after moving the appliances. After I pointed them out, he filled them in and stained them without any problem. My new microwave drawer was also dented during the renovation and Carmen was willing to work together to find a solution. He is also very good about notifying the homeowner with the time he'll be arriving and is always there when he says he well be. Cons: as other reviewers have mentioned, the project took much longer to complete than it should have. It took 9 weeks to complete a project that should've been done in 4-5 weeks tops. I noticed that he rarely put in a full day on my project (maybe for 1-2 of those weeks) because he splits his time between other projects; I think this is main reason it took twice as long to complete as it should have, and when your kitchen (of all rooms!) is out of commission for twice as long as it needs to be, it is a major inconvenience to a homeowner that should not be taken lightly. My hardwood stairs were also nicked (deep gouges in some areas) while carrying the appliances upstairs, though as I mentioned above, he was willing to fill those in. Technically he's good and he knows what he's talking about, but that didn't translate into a perfect product at the end. For example, he needed to sand and stain my hardwood floor four times because it was very blotchy with the initial trials. After the 4th time it looked the best but was not perfect by any means. (Though on the positive side, he was willing to keep trying until I was satisfied). There is also a small gap between the top of my tile backsplash and the counterledge above it due to what I think was an error in measurement -- the tile was available on site to measure before ledge was created so that gap could've easily been avoided. I hired Carmen after reading the glowing reviews on Angie's list. I would recommend him if you want someone who is friendly and professional in terms of communication skills and technically knows his stuff. If timeliness and a perfect product is important, I was not satisfied.
Description of Work: Carmen and one other worker remodeled my kitchen. This remodel involved creating an opening in the wall separating the kitchen and dining room, replacing the cabinets and appliances, and patching an area of wood flooring. Once the wall was opened up, he also had to re-route plumbing and electricity.

Normally I don't respond to posts, but....I must take issue with the complaint about how long the job took. It took 9 weeks to complete a 5 week job because we waited 4 weeks for the countertops, which I had nothing to do with, to come in and be installed. Not only that, but the day before the countertop guys were to come and make a template we were to finish installing the cabinets. We were told by the customer not to come because she was sick. That delayed the template by a week because the company doing the tops was busy. That one day, in effect, cost the entire job another week of down time. That is why a 4-5 week job took nine to complete.

Carmen was very careful to make sure all work was done without making a mess in the rest of the house. He is definitely a perfectionist.

I have also used him in the past. He has been extremely helpful and has made himself available even on the weekends when I have questions looking for materials. He has is very professional and will give you his opinion but will not force you into a decision. I am very pleased with him; if you call and he is not available he is very quick in getting back to you. I think his pricing is very fair and he is very professional. If he runs behind he is very good about calling and I will use him again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Carmen of BNQ to remodel my bathroom. With the exception of the tub everything else was taken out of the bathroom including the toilet, cabinets, several mirrors and a medicine cabinet. Then he put down new flooring, new tile on the floor, new drywall, brand new cabinets, new countertops, a new medicine cabinet, a new toilet and a new mirror going across the wall.

Description of Work: BNQ replaced damaged bathroom floor with porcelain tile. Source of original water damage was identified and fixed. Plumbing repairs were done quickly and minor improvements were made at a very reasonable cost. Project was completed quickly with minimal disruption and dirt. Cleanup was prompt. Mr. Pasquarelli was prompt, responsive, and professional in all aspects of the job.

Carmen was a pleasure to work with. He was extremely communicative. I knew exactly when he would be here and he would call me if plans changed. I had a medical emergency while he was doing my work and he was so kind and accommodating. I also had a plumbing emergency on a day he was not scheduled to come to my house. I called him on his cell phone. He and his plumber came immediately and fixed the problem. The work went very well. As with any large project, unexpected things happen. Carmen was always quick to respond and to make things right. He was always willing to go the extra mile with a smile on his face. My new room is beautiful. The quality of his work is excellent. There is no stress working with Carmen. I would definitely recommend his work to anyone.
Description of Work: I had a room that was damaged in a winter storm. It had been gutted by a previous contractor who I did not want to finish the job. Carmen removed nine old windows and installed new ones. He installed tie-ins for electric for outlets and lights. He rerouted an existing vent pipe. Insulated and finished walls and ceiling. Finished exterior with vinyl siding carefully matching color to existing siding. Hung ceiling fan light fixture.

BNQ rocks and I would definitely hire them again and recommend them to all my friends and family. I received several quotes for this job and BNQ was the lowest. They have a very good work ethic. The finished product was beautiful. I'm very pleased :)
Description of Work: BNQ removed old tile and drywall and put up drywall and lots of brand new tile in 2 bathrooms including shower walls, tub decks, and steps. Installed new shower valves and reinstalled any fixtures that had to be removed for tile install.

Obviously not well, as I sat at my house waiting for him to show up.
Description of Work: I called BNQ to get estimates on a Kitchen and Bathroom remodels. I spoke to Carmen to set a date for him to come out. At least two appointments were canceled by Carmen; on the last scheduled date he never showed and never contacted me. I tried to be flexible with my time as he said that he needed to get a babysitter to come over in the evening. He seemed to be nice enough, I was very disappointed that this didn't work out.

He was suppose to come back the next week with estimates. He never showed up. I left a number of phone messages & wrote email. Eventually he wrote back there was a funneral in his family & that he did not have capability for the job. I wrote him back about his behavior. Then he wrote me back that in the 1st visit he knew he was not interested in working in my house, though he had me take photos & send them to him & wait 2 weeks. Then he wrote me "did you want me to come make a contract & not show up". When he was in my house he said basically, he buys houses & fixes them up & to rent. He wants to retire at 50. This person has lied to Angie saying this is a family business. It's only him.
Description of Work: Carmer Pasauarelli missed his first appointment. Came for the 2nd. He looked like somebody who did not get enough sleep & drinking heavily the night before. I introduced a few projects. He chose a couple of projects, a shower repair & a railing for attic stairs.
