Description of Work: They reupholstered four chairs: two wingback and two "ladies" chairs. They had a huge selection of fabrics to choose from and helped me to quickly make a selection of coordinating fabrics. I didn't give them a deadline but they have finished half the order quickly, delivered it where I needed them to go and have kept me informed along the way.

Just received an estimate.
Description of Work: Got an estimate to reupholster two chairs that were my grandmothers. I already had the fabric. Very expensive. Went to Pittsburgh Upholstery who did both chairs for $550.00. Blawnox wanted $695.00 a chair. Pittsburgh Upholstery did a fabulous job! So paying more doesn't mean you get better quality. Shop around.

Dear(removed member name), Thank you for giving us this opportunity to evoluate our price structure. If you may help us, we would like to find out why there is such large price difference between 2 companies. We have checked our email system, and home consultation list, Unfortunately we could not find your information on our system. Would you please remind us if the estimate was thorough the phone, e-mail, or in person? Would you please provide the picture of the chairs for us to see what kind of work was involved with the chair? We would like the see before and after picture of the chairs if possible? Would you also be able to list all the work done to the chairs for us to compare the workmanship and materials used? Are the old fabric stripped and tossed? or Was there an agreement to keep the old fabric on and just cover the new fabric on top of it to make the job cost effective? Were the chair frame stable ?- any woodwork done ?- are the joints knocked apart, dowels cleaned and re glued or just tighten with couple screws? Any wood re-staining job done? Are the springs re-tied? was it coil spring or zigger spring? Any foam replaced? Was it High Resiliency foam? We will appreciate your answer to help us to improve our service. Sincerely Michael Yumak

We did not feel that we could produce what you were looking for to either your standard or our standard. We did not wish to take your money and produce for you inferior workmanship. I am disappointed that you gave our quality a C rating since we did not produce any work for you. I have included a copy of the email we sent to you stating that we were declining your job due to what you were looking for given the design of your chair. We pride ourselves on our standards of workmanship and customer service and I am sorry that you are disappointed and feel we let you down. Work was completed in two weeks, which amazed me. We did not ask for an estimate before taking the chairs out to Blawnox, but when we got there, the estimate was for $150.00 per chair which is quite reasonable in comparison to other upholstering I've had done. The finished product looks great. The cushions are a little larger and thicker than the original, but I didn't direct Gary to keep the exact dimensions, and the difference is acceptable. I am very pleased. We did ask what it would cost to deliver the chairs to us in Squirrel Hill, and that would have been $50.00. If I had a piece that we couldn't put in the car, the delivery costs would be prohibitive. I didn't ask what they charged for pickup as well as delivery, so be sure you check that price. It's possible that with a larger job, pickup and delivery is either free or less expensive. Gary was extremely pleasant to deal with. Overall this was a good experience.
Description of Work: Two small chairs reupholstered with my material. Seat cushions, seat platform and seat backs were done. All foam was replaced. All seams and edges were finished with welting.
