From the time of our initial contact with Brien at the 2018 Pittsburgh Home Show to completion of the job, Brien was very approachable and straightforward in providing a competitive bid which we accepted. Brien worked with us in providing attractive, yet cost effective suggestions for our consideration which included spending time with us at the local “big box” stores. The project involved the partial gutting of of an existing basement bathroom which was installed 23 years ago and replacing with a more modern style tiled shower, new floor surface and new vanity/sink. Brien also replaced a leaky glass block window with a new Anderson replacement window. The quality of the work performed was very good. The project was completed in 4.5 work days which spanned one week’s time. Brien and his crew were punctual and very courteous and worked around us with minimal interference. I would not hesitate in working with Brien on any other home improvement projects should the opportunity arise.

My husband and I were very pleased with Brien’s work. Our bathroom looks brand new and our family room has a new look to it. Brien gave us many suggestions that we never thought of, he and his crew were very professional and got the job done quick and precise. I would definitely use him again in the future for other home improvement projects.

We met Brien at the home show and talked with him about our project. He had an estimate to us in about an hour. He worked with architect and building inspector and handled all aspects of the construction. He and his crew were there everyday from start to finish and completed in a timely manner. His concern for project went above and beyond when he came over early in project to assure everything was fine during a very bad rain and hale storm. Brien was extremely helpful with design suggestions that helped enhance the overall look of our porch. We really love the results, it looks awesome! Highly recommended. Skilled and professional. Brien and his crew did a great job, and they’re courteous, friendly and very considerate of your home. Also Brien is very responsive (texts and/or calls). Easy to keep in touch with him. We hired them to remove a load-bearing wall that separated the kitchen from the living room. The job required installing a support beam and re-routing 3 AC ducts to circulate air upstairs. They had to open the other kitchen wall and ceiling to install the AC ducts. We were in a hurry, this whole job required a permit and Brien was able to get it in record time. Plus the inspector that came told me a couple of times how good of a job these guys did at my house. The second job we asked them to do was replacing the tile floor with laminate wood in the kitchen, living room, bathroom and hall (about 550 sq ft). Lastly we asked them to remove a concrete walkway in the back of the house. They did a great job on all these projects and they were also so nice to help me with a couple of extra things that saved me time and money. Highly satisfied. Will definitely hire again.

We highly recommend B & M Home Improvements for your home project. The owner, Brien Moore, is very professional in each aspect of the project and a pleasure to work with. During the initial meeting, Brien was attentive to our needs and provided suggestions for consideration without “up selling” the project. Details were clearly documented on the contract to avoid any confusion including payment arrangements. An estimated target date was provided and met timely. We received a phone call two weeks prior to the start date touching base and explaining preparatory items to be done. Brien is very responsive to email, text messages or phone calls and answers clearly any questions we had. During the project, Brien and his team were courteous, friendly and very consciousness of our home/property as well as considerate of neighbors. (I have several perennials surrounding our home and they were extremely cautious not to damage any of the plants.) Brien works closely with his team; they are meticulous and treated our home as if it were their home. You can be sure the team takes much pride in their work. If something unexpected arises, Brien takes time to explain the issue and the correct way to address the matter to avoid future problems, even when it takes his team more time to complete the project. Brien can be trusted to do the right thing! After the project was completed, we had a question regarding a minor cosmetic concern. Brien took time on a Saturday morning to stop over, talk thru the concern and offer alternatives. Customer satisfaction is very important to Brien as this example demonstrates. B & M Home Improvements will receive our business for future home projects!

Brian & his crew did a excellent job on our master bathroom & unfinished basement. We would recommend him & his company to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, punctual, & trustworthy contractor. Brien and his team were amazing with this entire project from start to finish. Came when they said they were going to be here. Did way beyond what was expected and accommodated changes I made from the architects original plans. It has just been completed and it is so beautiful and well built that I get teary eyed every time I go into detail about it. How many people can say they are so happy when a contractor is done! I will always use Brien as my first choice and would recommend him to anyone!!!

They were excellent. They are very responsive when you call; they come out and give you an estimate. The work they do is top notch. They have very good quality and their communication is very good as well.

I have already provided a very detailed review last year. We are still very pleased with the work that Brien and B&M has done. After they were finished, they have responded quickly to our requests to fix a few minor issues that developed over the year since the job was completed. The company wants to be sure you are pleased with everything! We also hired them again to do some drywall repair that was needed after a different contractor needed to remove some drywall from our ceiling to get into the central vacuum pipes.

My husband and I were thinking about remodeling our unfinished basement into a bar/living room area after four years of having it as a storage area. We went through Angie’s list looking for contractors, and decided to interview four from the list, as well as one other general contractor who had been recommended by a family member. We weren’t sure we even wanted to go through the expense, time and disruption of a basement remodel (especially since it was loaded with lots and lots of clutter that we needed to get rid of if we were going to do this!) It took us over three weeks to finally interview all five contractors in person due to schedules (theirs and ours). We had read all of the reviews of each contractor on Angie’s List. We needed to find someone who was honest and trustworthy, competent, experienced, and who we felt would give us the best value for our money. We found that in Brien Miller of B & M Home Improvements. Brien was the first one to respond to all of our inquiries, and made time to meet with us to answer all of our questions. He met with us a couple of times while we were still deciding whether or not we were going to go ahead with the job. He was the first one to submit an estimate. Though he was not the most expensive or the least expensive of the bids we had received, we felt that he was the one who could deliver on the vision of what we had for the basement. After meeting with him in person, talking with him on the phone about additional questions we had, and going over ideas for our basement, we felt that he was the one who would be the best to work with within our time frame. He had many great ideas about how to complete the space, and it was obvious from the beginning that he knew what he was doing. Once we found Brien, we decided to go through with the basement project. But, having had bad experiences with other contractors in the past, we called several references of people who had recently had work completed….just to be sure. Those people raved about Brien and his company, and were thoroughly satisfied with the work. We felt confident that we had found the right person for our job. Brien, along with his crew of two began working in July 2016. Brien was on the job every day with them, and he worked right alongside of them, supervising and directing. We always felt comfortable with them in the house, and would go about our daily routines secure in the knowledge that they would be conscientious about their work. They put in an honest day’s work every single day, cleaned up the job site every day before they left, and locked the doors behind them. The basement remodel was extensive, and included adding a bathroom and a bar area, along with framing separate areas and closets. The bathroom was a bit of a challenge, given where the rough-ins had been placed…but we worked together and came up with a very creative way of finishing the space. Brien came up with a way to hide the pipe access area with a vent cover. He also complete re-designed the sink cabinet we had purchased from Ikea to fit the space. He created a shower stall to fit the space, and tiled it beautifully. The bar area turned out beautifully as well. They installed wall and base cabinets, the electrician wired for a dishwasher, wine refrigerator, under-cabinet lighting, and refrigerator. They used the plumber to install lines for the sink. They installed our overhead lighting fixture for the bar. Brien installed our tile for the backsplash and made sure the cabinets were ready to be fitted for the countertop. They installed about 20 overhead lights throughout the basement area, which includes a separate hallway to the outside. We had decided to divide the space into some clearly defined areas, which we separated with pocket doors. So, we have the option of keeping the doors open for an expansive feel…or close them off for when we want it more of a private, cozy space. We had laminate flooring installed in the bulk of the basement, and vinyl flooring in the bathroom. They created two huge closets for us, and storage under the steps, in addition to a storage space behind the finished area of the basement. This is a workshop area for my husband, and they hung some huge work lights for him so we have bright light in there for the first time in four years! We have two big support poles in the basement, which are in awkward areas for a basement remodel. We talked about different options as to disguise them. Brien designed and made deep custom shelves on which we can display collectibles, books, toys, etc. It was a clever way to hide those ugly poles . We were so impressed by the work that Brien was doing, that early on in the basement remodeling process, we asked him to give us a bid on two other jobs that we were considering. One was an addition to the basement area, which would be used a sunroom. We had already had two patio room companies come out to give us bids previously, and had an idea of what we wanted…but were not comfortable with the idea of an all-glass room. So, after talking with Brien and listening to his ideas, we decided to hire him to complete sunroom addition. The third job that we wanted to have done was enclosing a space under our deck to be used as an outdoor “shed” to house a lawn tractor and other garden tools for our back yard. We discussed what would be involved with that as well, and decided to have that done as well. Consequently, we had Brien and his company working on three separate jobs simultaneously. We were really impressed at how quickly everything came together—framing, drywall, electrical, plumbing. Brien hired and supervised subcontractors that he’s used for years to complete some of the specialized work (electrical, plumbing, dry walling, painting) since we had them working on three jobs at once essentially. The subcontractors were also people we felt were trustworthy and competent in our home. The sunroom addition required excavation and cement foundation work, creating a block wall, and framing and installation of windows (which we had ordered from a company we had used previously). It also required the removal of two windows from our basement and the creation of a French doorway into the sunroom from the basement, where the windows had been. Brien and his crew completed all of this work to our great satisfaction. One of our concerns with adding a room to the back of the house was that it must match the architecture of the house. We did not want something that looked like it was an “add on”; rather, we wanted a room that would look like it had always been there. This was accomplished. Brien matched the siding perfectly, and the configuration of the windows match our existing windows and the architecture. The shed under the deck was completed in less than a week, and Brien even built a custom door that easily accommodates the lawn tractor. He used the two windows that we had removed from the basement to provide light into the shed, and to match with the architecture of the house. The shed looks like a little room with windows rather than a place to house tools. Brien and his crew completed the basement in early October, but had to leave us for two weeks while we waited for the special windows for the sunroom which were backordered. They returned as soon as the windows were delivered, and completed the sunroom over the next week. In this room, we had chosen ceramic tile for the floor, so after they installed all the windows, they completed the floor installation in a day or two. They also installed a ceiling fan on the cathedral ceiling. Throughout the entire three months that Brien and his crew were here working on the three jobs, we were always updated on progress, and consulted for our input. We always felt like we were treated with the utmost respect and care. A couple of times we changed our mind about something, and Brien accommodated our requests after discussing alternatives. They worked with us every step of the way, and Brien always asked if we were happy with what was being accomplished. He said more than once that he wanted us to be happy with the work. They have been back once, at our request, to tweak a few things that we found after they had moved on to their next job. It was like seeing old friends. After three months of having them a part of our daily lives, they did become friends of ours. Our basement doesn’t even look like a basement anymore. It looks like a comfortable bar/kitchen and living room. We never went into the basement before this remodel, unless it was to go through all of the stuff on wire shelves to try to find something! It had been a dark, cluttered, storage area—with bags of insulation on the walls and a concrete floor. Now it is bright, beautiful, welcoming and wonderful. Friends and family who knew what the “before” are absolutely speechless when they see it now! The sunroom is a showstopper as well—bright, sunny and a place to read and relax, where my gardener husband has his plants growing—all year round now. The storage shed has made it possible for the lawn tractor to be parked where it is used—in the backyard, rather than taking up space in the garage. We couldn’t be more thrilled with how everything has turned out. We have definitely increased the value of our home by these improvements. But more importantly, we have another beautiful space in which to entertain friends and family and enjoy every single day. Thank you, Brien. It has been a pleasure working with you and Chuck and Bob. Brien was very responsive when we first reached out for our quote, which cannot be said of many of the companies out there. We received a quote within a day and hired Brien to do the work. Brien and his team worked with us to get the screened deck we wanted and was very concerned with making sure the room met our expectations. He worked through some changes with our design and materials throughout the process. He and his team were always on time and provided a very professional service. We met Brien at the 2015 Pittsburgh Home and Garden show. We felt comfortable with him from the start. We were looking at doing a very large job. He came to our house to go over our ideas and added suggestions of his own. Work started in July with Brien and his two guys on the job every day with the exception of a few rain days. Throughout the job Brien listened to any concerns we had. During the project we had lots of comments and looks from walkers and people driving by. Now we get total strangers that stop and tell us how beautiful our place looks. We are so proud of the finished product. We would recommend B&M Home Improvements Another plus, throughout the job Brien and his guys cleaned up every day. We did not want dumpsters sitting in the driveway so all materials would be stacked or stored out of the way until Brian let us know it was time for a dumpster and then the most it would be there was a day or two. After not receiving proposal - Called and sent email to him to make sure he had correct address. He Said it would be there next day. Never came. This was not a small job as bidding was in the $ 20,000 - $ 25,000 Range. Not very professional in my opinion

The project went well, it was on time and budget. Brien and his 2 crew members were prompt and professional and the job only took 1 month. They cleaned up everyday. Brien was on site every day and checked in with us to explain the progress and what was coming up next. All township inspections were passed along the way with no need for adjustments. Brien asked us our preference on different items before proceeding, choice of finishing touches, cable outlet placement, storage door style, colors, etc. He was always concerned that we would get the finished product we wanted and we did. There was an issue with the wrong color railings being ordered and partially installed. Brien took care of figuring out where the issue was got the right materials ordered and installed the right color. There were only extra charges for extra work run into that were not included in the original bid. For example an extra layer of flooring was removed in the existing house to make it flush with the new floor for carpeting.This helped immensely with the appearance of the finished project. This work was outside the project but Brien knew it would make a difference to the final product. We discussed and agreed it would be best. The project turned out great and we would recommend Brien for any construction project.

Brien and his team did a wonderful job with the bathroom and the shower . Brien is very trustworthy and makes sure you are happy with the work performed at every step . He gave us really good suggestions along the way. He and his team are punctual and reliable and really did a great job with the baths . They gutted out an existing bathroom , added new marble subway tile flooring . Made a marble subway tile walk in shower and added a new vanity as well. Every think was done perfectly .Our bathrooms look great and we could not have been happier . We will definitely use B & M home improvements in the future and will recommend them for any home improvement project.

We were very happy with the work done by Brien. Him and his crew were always professional, cared about our home and did good work. One of the most important things for me is feeling that you can trust a contractor, and I felt that with Brien from the start. He was willing to give suggestions and ideas, but he did not do it in a way that felt like he was pushing additional items to increase the price. The space looks great, and we took most of his ideas, which made such a difference in the finishing touches of the basement. They insulated and put up drywall, painted, moved electrical and cable, put in some nice recess lights and finished off a block wall with one his excellent ideas in a pine that looks great. We will definitely use him again for a home improvement project and would recommend B&M to anybody.

We were very pleased with the work that Brien and his team did. He transformed our upstairs into a completely different space. Previously, you could barely walk into the rooms given the slope of the roof and the hallway was claustrophobic. The rooms were dark and not very inviting given the single small window in each room. The second room wasn't vented so essentially, the space was unusable except for storage and occasional overnight guests. And finally, we were barely able to fit the kids and their furniture into to the other bedroom. With the rear of the house being dormered out and the two dormers in front, the new upstairs is open, spacious, bright, and inviting. The kids have spent more time upstairs after the project, than the entire time we've lived in the house. Another major improvement was the addition of a full, Jack and Jill bathroom. The bathroom is easily accessible from both bedrooms and was designed to also accommodate a double sink vanity. In the hallway, there used to be a wall which was removed and bannister was added which significantly opened up the hallway. Brien and his team were very professional, and it was nice that Brien was here doing the work as well. Brien did a good job of keeping us up to date every step of the way and always willing to answer questions. He also did a great job of guiding us when we were unsure on a number of items. We enjoyed having them in our home. Brien was also flexible and accommodating when a few items ended up changing from the original the plan. We ended up insulating our entire first floor and re-sided essentially the entire house. The exterior work was also done very well. Again, we were very pleased with the work and look forward to having Brien come back and work on our next project. We already have, and will continue to recommend Brien. Thanks
