It was terrible, absolutly atrocious. He was too early and started billing us early which wasnt too big of a big deal. He had two tvs I needed mounted and he said he'd be able to do it per our phone conversation. He came to my home with no tools and I had to lend him all my tools to use. Im handy myself and the work wasnt good at all. I had to supervise the job over him. I had to drill a few holes myself. The levels werent accurate at all, then after he left I had to work on the other tv myself since he didnt get it done.

The services were average for the money and time spent. The provider stated that he doesn't even look at the ratings that are left on Angies List for his company, and I think that says a lot about how he runs his business.

Provider was prompt and courteous. Installed a fan in an outlet that had not been working for years. Did a great job - level - balanced and looks great! Unfortunately he was unable to repair the track light but was able to tell me to see if I could replace the transformer but he did not have parts on him to do that job.

It went well! My house is made of cardboard, and I know that when I upgrade anything I'm opening a can of worms. Steve removed the builder grade electrical fixtures, expertly and resourcefully repaired shoddy original work (and put in boxes that didn't even exist before!), and patched the surrounding area so I could paint before the final light fixtures went in. This took longer than I expected or he could anticipate (and the whole two hours I had for the Angie's List promotion), so he set aside time the next day to come back and finish (after the patching dried and I had painted), and then stayed to replace two external lights. In all, Steve worked hard for five hours, charged me for less, and did a great job. He was also very friendly.

Steven called and arranged a time convenient for us . He spent an hour with us going over all of the things we wanted done. He took our fan apart and took the motor with him. He called the next day with a cost for parts, etc.and we arranged for a day for him to come back. He brought all of the parts for the kitchen lights and a new fan for the bathroom. He was able to get an upgraded fan as ours had been discontinued. Steven was efficient, professional and knowlegeable. We were quite pleased with his work and are planning on having him come back to replace out bedroom fans.
Description of Work: Steven Nydes replaced a bathroom fan, installed /replaced electrical outlets and light switches in the bathroom. He also replaced all of the recessed light cannisters (8) in our kitchen.

Work was done efficiently. I was not there when service was performed, but I understand the electrician was polite and friendly. Did a professional job. I would definitely call them for other electrical work. When he went to the other house to install my chandelier there, we asked him to take a look at the fusebox in that house and let us know what we would need to do to get it up to code. He was very helpful and gave my husband good, sound advice.

Steve did an excellent job. We made the appointment for 10am and he was right on time. He also called the day before to confirm which many service people fail to do. The installation was a bit tricky since he had to snake the cable up the inside of the wall and across the ceiling and there were numerous blockages inside. He managed this part without difficulty and then installed the light fixture perfectly. He got the job done in just 3 hours and it was for the estimated price. Steve was professional and he cleaned up everything when he was done (although to be honest he did not make much of a mess in the first place). We were very satisfied.

Came in under estimate (estimate was $450-$500) at $425. Cleaned up and did neat work. Went a little bit longer than expected in time because the wiring diagram on the heaters wasn't clearly labeled, and one of heaters was shorting. Figured it out and got it fixed. Overall really good experience. Clarke is very friendly, does good work, and I think he has a sense of professionalism. I had one other worker from Best Electric several years ago who did sloppy work, so I think it's worth it to specifically ask for Clarke.
Description of Work: Installed baseboard electric heaters in two downstairs rooms along exterior wall. Drilled down through flooring in dining room, through porcelain tile in kitchen. Clarke warned me that this might crack tile, but was able to drill at corners between tile at grouting, worked fine. Wired in heavy-gauge wire that can handle a higher amperage should I chose to put in larger heaters. These are small, 500W heaters (1.2 amps) and he told me I could go up to 12 amps. Installed both heaters and accompanying thermostats.

They came in for an estimate, after I agreed to the estimate they made an appointment to come back, showed up promptly (very early too, they get started at 7am) and did the installation. It's been one year and the heaters work well, much lower power draw with 208v wiring than plug-in space heaters. Our technician was Clarke, he was very professional (has done other work in the past for us). I feel like the price was fair, and I'm confident in the workmanship.

Very well! Following an emergency call, the company would have been able to do this work within 3 days. However, the delay until the following week was due to Duquesne Light's inability to schedule a disconnect until then. I was extremely pleased with the efficiency, quality and professionalism of Eric, who made the emergency visit, diagnosed the problem, and managed the job. I was also very pleased with Jim, the electrician who did the actual work. I did not shop around and used them because they had worked on this panel previously (sticker on the door). I would hire them again.
Description of Work: Installed a new 200-amp electrical service underground with a main breaker panel, Duquesne Light meter base and new grounding system. The cost included a $325.00 Duquesne Light disconnect/reconnect fee.

I got both bids which were higher than the other companies I called and there was a bit of confusion around what I wanted at first (could have been my description - although everyone else understood). There was a moment where "I need to check if that is possible" came up and I knew to keep looking.
Description of Work: Bring new service line, weather head, 200 amp service with 100 amp on 1st floor of 2 floor building and 150amp on second floor. 10 breakers and grounding ect in bid. Rewire first floor - $5,2400.00 - ouch.

They found the problem immediately which one of the wires was losing neutral. They tried to talk me into changing all the outlets in my house and changing my breaker box. They made me think I had a risky situation that could result in fire. They were here 1 hour and 6 minutes. I did not get a receipt, so I tried to call them back because I wanted an itemized bill. They sent me something very general but I had to call them back to get all information itemized. Labor and 2 men $185. The only reason two men came was because they were previously out giving an estimate to someone else and stopped at my house afterward. I did not ask for two men. That's $92.50 per man. Travel $25. Materials $40. I explained the situation to one of my townhouse neighbors who had a similar problem. I had another electrician review the situation and they said there was no fire risk.

I'm adding a dishwasher to my 50-year old home, and I'm on a tight budget. I pulled the Romex cable for the machine, but I did not feel comfortable connecting it in the breaker box. I knew there was space in the box for another breaker, so I called Best Electric to get an estimate on installing the breaker. The representative who came out seemed focused on talking me into replacing the 100 Amp box with a larger 150 or 200 amp box. (For about $1600) While he conceded that there was still enough room in the box for the dishwasher circuit, he said I ought to upgrade. When I pressed for a price on the circuit alone, he threw out the $300 figure and explained that it really doesn't pay them to do these small jobs. He said he would have his office send out an estimate on both the larger service and the circuit install alone but at least three weeks later, I still have not received anything. I ultimately found another contractor (from the list) who did the job for $125.

I called for emergency electrical work on a Saturday about 2:30 pm. The answering service told me that she would page and Al would call me back. It is now 5:45 and I have yet to receive a call back. In the meantime, I called a second electrician on Angie's list, he called back, came and performed the repairs, and left at 5:30. He was wonderful. (If you are interested, see my report on Chris Jackson's Contracting). This company is obviously not interested in emergency service, even though they state that they are available for such.

We wanted an estimate on an electrical service upgrade, but he disagreed with every other electrician and inspector that had been in the house. He felt that 100 amps was sufficient for a 3-story, 11-room house. Steve was a very poor listener and his estimate did not reflect the work we requested. He failed to itemize the estimate, as we had requested. Additionally frustrating was the fact that he sent our estimate in the same Excel file as that of another customer, which was very nicely itemized. I'm sure she'd be frustrated to know that we know her name, address, and phone number. I noted that she lives on a pricey Shadyside street, while we live in a much more modest neighborhood. She got a nicely detailed estimate, while we did not. When I asked Steve about the problems with our estimate and receiving someone else's estimate, he denied that he sent us the other customer's estimate, saying we must have gotten it from somewhere else. He was very unprofessional on all counts.

The service was very good. They scheduled the work quickly and at a time convenient for me; arrived on time; worked quickly and neatly. Much of the wiring was old and the mountings needed adjustment in several cases; all of this was handled well. Only one small issue: on one ceiling fixture, one of the mounting screws was too long. Instead of fixing this correctly, they simply added a nut to the fixture (silver against a dark bronze mounting plate), which I then had to fix. But, I'm generally very happy and will use them again.
