After our initial call. Tom met my husband at a convenient time and gave a quote in a few days. We were able to schedule within a few weeks. His installers showed up on time, they were polite, clean and informative. They finished in @4 days and cleaned up very well considering the amount of dust that was generated. After the install was completed, they discussed maintenance of the unit and any other issue that could pop up. When it has rained hard, we can hear it working. We love working with AquaGuard and would not hesitate to recommend them in a minute.

We had water coming into our basement after a heavy rain several times over a period of a couple of years. The solution was an internal French drain and the stucco-like finish on the walls. AquaGuard installers arrived at our home when they said they would and completed the job in the time frame that they stated. Because the concrete floor in the basement need to be jackhammered, the installers masked off the doorways to prevent dust from coming upstairs. The dampness is gone from the air in the basement and the room is very dry and comfortable. The salesman was at our home during part of the installation and the owner of the company stopped in to check on the progress. At a later date, we also had them do an internal French drain on the other side of the house as well .We have recommended AquaGuard to several people who have had a similar problem with their homes. Nicholas and Mary Ann Tomich Churchill, PA

I found the initial presentation through the installation to be informative and a easy to understand. The technicians that installed the work were prompt and completed the job thoroughly always leaving the basement clean prior to leaving. I have already recommended this business to family and friends.

The project went very well. First, I requested the estimate one year ago and then had to postpone the project. Mr. Gallagher kindly did the work in 2014 at the 2013 price. The crew was excellent. Keith Comer was the project foreman. He could not have been more skilled and professional. Keith led a team of eight men. All of them did an excellent job - Jay, Denny, Clyde and Andrew - a lot of back breaking work. The quality of the work was excellent. Incredibly careful excavation, working around water and electrical supply lines, preserving as much of a paver walkway as possible and even preserving a lilac bush that was within two feet of the excavation line. Keith led the project like he was working on his own home. Communication with the team was very good. When problems arose, they contacted us immediately. The main problem was during the excavation the crew hit an area of solid rock that could not be removed. Keith alerted me to the problem. I discussed alternatives with Mr. Gallagher and Mr. Comer and they were able to modify the route for the drains to work around the problem. A second problem was in one area, a larger area needed to be excavated, creating a need for more gravel. Extra gravel was provided at cost. At each stage of the project, Keith walked around the property with me to make sure that things were back the way they should be. This was a big project. Two excavators moved through our property for two weeks. The lawn will need to be replaced. During the estimating process though, I was informed of what to expect and at the end of the project the property looked like what I expected. I am very pleased with how things went and would confidently recommend this company.
Description of Work: Excavated the entire foundation of the house to the footer. Installed a new footer drain system and new drainage system for the downspouts, applied an exterior foundation sealing product (Tough and Dry) then back filled the excavated area with gravel, regraded the excavated areas.

In the process of repairing our house after a major water pipe leak, we found we had a seepage problem in one basement wall. Aqua Guard was recommended by our contractor. Tom came and assessed the situation , made recommendations, which we accepted, and fixed the problem. Repairs continued until actual puddles appeared after a big rain, from a different wall. Tom came back, assessed the situation, made recommendations, which we accepted. This time, Aqua Guard was in the middle of a big job and scheduling our repair became a time problem. Paula, in the office, worked really hard to get us in. No one could have done more for us. Aqua guard is the BEST! I have no hesitation recommending them to anyone with a basement water problem! Working with this member was an awesome experience! The scenario was one where a customer of AquaGuard became a friend of AquaGuard. We worked very closely with another company that was renovating this customer’s home and managing water issues as they arose. The water issues have been resolved and they can now finish the basement area and turn it into additional, comfortable living space as planned. We want to thank you for taking the time to share your kind words, thoughts and comments! Also, we wish you many more happy years in your “new” home!

I chose AquaGuard because of their comprehensive approach to my problem of a crumbling foundation. On the whole, the job is done and and over, but there were a few problems. I thought the sump pump was to go in the garage, but it is in my laundry room. I did not catch error on the document they submitted for my permit, so that is on me. The crew worked hard for two weeks - nice guys. But the yard sustained much more damage than I thought it would. They had to dig a "moat" around my house, but instead of removing the dirt as they dug, they let it sit on the lawn for the duration, without even a tarp to protect it: most of the lawn died. They left a lot of debris: brick, rocks, and gravel. The walls leaked in two spots after they completed, the job. The first time a few guys came to caulk, but it was insufficient. The crew chief came the second time and I have not seen any wet spots since. Would I recommend them? Hard to say. The job is done, and the house seems stable! I just wish they had been neater.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your perspective as a homeowner with respect to your project. We understand your concerns about landscaping and final yard repair. Unfortunately when a major dig occurs and heavy operating equipment is brought in, grass, lawns and landscaping are adversely affected. This is unavoidable. AquaGuard takes every precaution to avoid disruption in areas where we are not working. We show very detailed pictures of our projects on our website. This is helpful because it shows the type of work we perform and how we perform it. Also, it shows a homeowner what will be occurring. We have been performing this scope of work for almost 25 years and it is commonplace for us to see the after effects of a major dig. For a homeowner, this may be the first time major work or renovations are being performed. We make sure to advise customers of the scope of work that will be performed and that we do not complete final yard repair. That is best left to a landscaping company that is skilled in lawn repair. Your project was, as you stated, a success as it solved your foundation needs. The water that you noticed after we completed our work was coming from above your door frame. Even though this was not a part of your project or work we performed, Keith and his crew came out to your home twice after work was completed to caulk the door frame to resolve the issue you were having at no additional cost to you. This is typical of AquaGuard to go above and beyond to provide superior customer satisfaction. It was a pleasure working with you on your project and we thank you for the referrals to your friends and family!

Frank gave me a consultation on a water problem in a corner of my basement underneath a concrete porch. He was on time (showed up 15 minutes early actually). After assessing the area he pointed out that the water was coming from above grade and therefore was something better addressed by concrete sealing and covering the porch with a roof or awning. Nevertheless he still spent a good 40 minutes answering many of my questions and offering to explain how interior basement waterproofing works, even showing me pictures and samples of the material they use for the underground pipe and wall spacer. I learned a great amount and was impressed with his knowledge, his detailed assessment of the water problem, and excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend this company!

Our experience with AquaGuard Systems Inc. has been a positive one. After years of putting off our flooded basement we decided it was best to call in a professional. That is exactly what Tom and his crew were. They were prompt, courteous, and extremely hard working. They arrived ahead of schedule, were courteous of our belongings and worked hard to complete the job in a timely manner. It is a comfort knowing that when we here the crack of thunder we no longer go into a panic. The sub pump kicks on and the basement stays dry. Todd Rogacki, Monroeville PA

We are surprised and dismayed by the review posted by {removed member name} The project for Ms. Gissin was completed on November 26, 2010 for $7,800. Not June 15, 2011, $8,000 as stated in her post. The work was completed as specified on the basement field report that was provided to {removed member name}. At the end of the project, all work was reviewed with {removed member name} and she signed a customer completion form stating that AquaGuard had fulfilled its contract and all work had been completed to her satisfaction. Tom Gallagher, owner, visited with {removed member name} twice shortly after her project installation. The last visit occurred in January, 2011. {removed member name} noticed dampness in a storage area. At both visits an inspection was performed. No evidence of system failure was reported, no leaking and no seepage. Condensation was found to be the problem due to poor ventilation in this storage area. {removed member name} was given instructions on how to combat this problem. Since January, 2011, we have not received any communication from {removed member name} to report any issues or problems with our work. AquaGuard will continue to uphold their dedication to customer satisfaction. If there is an issue or problem, we will fix it and resolve it. In this case, however, there was no issue with our system or the work performed.

We had Tom give an estimate of over $8,000 after some time he called to follow up and agreed to drop the price if I would do it during his slower season, so we agreed to 7k. Before we started, I asked where he would route the sump pump exit because I didn't want it flowing back outside next to the foundation since everything I read said not to do that. He said it would go to the downspouts, so we went ahead with the work, however, the workers tried to exit the pipe outside the foundation and when I objected he said "you'd be surprised how much water the trees and shrubs soak up." I did not agree to this and because we had only one downspout, I agreed to pay about $560 more to route the water away. Tom said he was sorry he didn't note there was only one downspout but at $560, (for 20 feet of PVC pipe and the worker to dig this shallow trench) "it's close to his cost." I found it hard to believe but I agreed to pay the extra money. When the job is finished the workers always seal the system if there is a radon system present but Tom said I offered to do it myself to save $300. I told him I didn't remember that conversation but I had already paid him extra and I was going to review the experience on Angie's list, so he said he'd "be back to seal that the end of this week or next" and never did come back or contact me and it's been a month. Other than this, he returned calls and showed up on time, the workspace was left clean.

We must disagree with the inaccurate description of events from [Member Name]. The customer was all about the bottom line and cutting costs. Both he and his wife were happy with the work that was performed which is why we are puzzled with the review that is posted. Tom did try, where he was able, to reduce the cost of the project for [Member Name] and we achieved that. We also worked with the customers to schedule the project when it was best for their schedule. If a customer has a Radon system, we advise them that the miradrain (material that is used along the perimeter of the basement) needs to be sealed and then advise the cost to do so. We also let the customer know they can do this on their own if they choose to save money. [Member Name] insisted he would take care of this so there was no mention of this additional work on the contract or the work order. If AquaGuard were to have been responsible for this, it would have been noted on the contract as well as the customer work order. Tom and [Member Name] did speak after the work was performed. [Member Name] was again advised that we would seal the system but that it would cost $300 to do so and we could come back out during that current week or the next. [Member Name] did not want to pay the extra money for this and since we did not hear back from him and consequently did not schedule this work to be performed. At no time did Tom offer this service for free. As for the rain leader that was added to the system, this work was also done at cost as a courtesy to the customer as Tom did make an oversight and not add this to the work order.

Overall, I was very pleased with the finished product as well as the competitive price. The installing team showed up on time and finished pretty close to when they estimated. After the concrete dried there were 3-4 "holes" where the finishing concrete sunk down into the now settled gravel beneath and although they offered to have the team come out and patch them I had already done it myself with some vinyl cement I had around the house. The only thing that needs to be considered for homeowners as well as Aquaguard is the coordination of furnace removal and reinstallation. This is done by a 3rd party and we elected to use someone recommended to us by Aquaguard. The communication between the team and the HVAC guy was non-existent and at the end of the day, a Friday, we were left with no clear idea of when the furnace would be reinstalled and with both companies closed on the weekend we didn't get a response back to our calls until Monday morning. Thankfully this furnace was a secondary furnace and doesn't heat the whole house so we were able to keep to the rooms that were heated, however, being left in the dark about when someone was coming back to reinstall on a very cold weekend in February tainted our opinion of the whole job. All-in-all if these considerations are not a concern for you or if AG works out this process it a bit then I would definitely recommend them.

We felt it important to reach out to the owner and advise him of your remarks regarding communication and punctuality. We have since referred this company and have heard only positive feedback regarding both issues. They were great! I would recommend the product. They do things a little bit different than everybody else does. We got a few prices and they were ore expensive but they did more than what everybody else. Everybody else just put a French drain in and concrete walls and weird things on it, they actually cemented the basement walls and made them look brand new; it looked 100 percent better. It was amazing what they did. It was well worth the $11,000. It was a little bit expensive but they did more. It works wonderful, we have not had one drop of water in that basement.

We had some concerns with sagging in our staircase leading from the first to second floor. A previous home inspector told us that a jack might need to be installed in the basement to prevent the staircase from sagging more. I called and received an appointment for a consultation within a week. Frank came to inspect the stairs. He was on-time and professional. He took the time to look for evidence of sagging in the floor joists and other structure around the staircase. He couldn't find any problems, and suggested that it might be a problem with the staircase itself. I appreciated his honest opinion, and the fact that he didn't try to look for other problems to sell us something.

Watch out for sweet talk during sales pitch that turns nasty when a problem occurs. After holding $8,309 deposit for over 14 weeks before starting the job Mr. Gallagher filed a civil claim when it took us six weeks (over Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years) to have significant damage to our plaster walls repaired before remiting the final $858. The wall was constructed as advertised. But the crew was extremely sloppy with having a truck leaking fluids day after day even after being told to put cardboard under to catch drips, getting mortar on patio furniture, not curtaining interior of basement during demolition of old wall which sent cement dust throughout house via forced air heat, hurriedly finishing up on Friday 22nd taking shortcuts like leaving an underground electrical line on grass and hiding under a layer of mud, leaving the basement electrical boxes disassembled with live circuits, leaving the circuit to spare refrigerator and freezer dead. A job signoff was demanded without a walkthrough. Later we discovered the major crack in dining room plaster matched a crack outside which had required repointing and that the section of 2x8" board under the main beam in the house appeared battered probably from being forced under the beam which had a fresh split. Mr. Gallagher never came out to inspect. Mr. Gallagher's offer to deduct 2 then 3 hundred and leave us with the damaged plaster were ultimately refused and the two sides agreed to us having our plasterer repair the damage for $450 and then remit the final $858. We wrote the final check to Aquaguard. Today we get a letter offering to defend us in a civil action filed by Aquaguard.

As a service provider, what we find unacceptable is the manner in which (removed member name) (the customer's wife) has chosen to behave. Multiple phone calls and emails were exchanged with (removed member name) (the customer) before, during and after the project. If communication breakdown occurred, it was not on AquaGuard’s behalf. Tom Gallagher, owner of AquaGuard and (removed member name) spoke on the phone to discuss the customers concerns and had come to a resolution. An hour later, (member name removed) (the customer's wife) informed our office that none of the resolutions were to her satisfaction. The issue of point was a crack that formed in the upstairs plaster. A situation that the customers were made aware of prior to beginning the project (minor settling that may occur beyond our control). However,(removed member name) and Mr. Gallagher discussed this issue on the phone and agreed upon a resolution of goodwill that was fair and agreeable to both parties. Mr. Gallagher contacted a painter with an excellent reputation on the (removed member name)'s behalf to provide a bid for repair of their plaster which (removed member name) (the customer's wife) declined stating that it wasn’t good enough. (removed member name)’s obtained their own bid which was identical to ours and proceeded to have the company they chose to make the repairs. We received an email from (removed member name) dated January 7, 2014 stating that with the completion of the plaster work he would be submitting final balance payment due, less the payment for repairs, if AquaGuard accepted, which we did. Not long after acceptance of (removed member name)’s offer, a flurry of phone calls and emails ensued in which (removed member name) (the customer's wife) reneged yet again. AquaGuard completed all work under contract professionally, completely and to contract specifications including replacing the dirt from the excavation as stated in the contract, rough graded slightly mounded to allow for settlement, not topsoil as (removed member name) (the customer's wife) incorrectly stated. The unavoidable delays to the project were to accommodate two customers back to back that had homes that were in danger of collapse. (removed member name) was kept up to date with these schedule changes. Prep work was discussed with Keith Comer who performed the work. Dust containment was found not to be necessary on this job site as minimal, if any, dust was being created. Upon learning from (removed member name) that there were some minor cleanup details missed, Mr. Gallagher advised that Keith would come back to address the oil on the driveway, mortar smudged on a patio chair and tire width rut at street level caused by the parked truck but (removed member name) stated they were small issues and he would take care of them. The electrical issue was of no fault of AquaGuard. (removed member name)’s had a bad breaker which was the cause of their refrigerator and freezer thawing. AquaGuard was not under contract to perform electrical service for the (removed member name). Keith Comer, as a courtesy, performed a free service call for the (removed member name)’s to check the breaker to help them out. Other work performed for free was the removal of interior walls that were to have been removed prior to our project and a new dryer vent installed at no cost. Not only did AquaGuard assume responsibility but Mr. Gallagher went above and beyond to work with (removed member name) to achieve and end result that was fair for both parties. The repairs to the plaster at the (removed member name)’s home was not AquaGuard’s responsibility but as always, customer satisfaction is our main goal and coming to a mutual agreement was a more desirable outcome. AquaGuard has not been in business for 23 years having achieved this level of reputation by being deceitful, aggressive or nasty. Our main commitment is, and always has been, providing superior customer service. As with any project, sometimes bumps occur along the way but as reasonable consumers and service providers, a meeting of the minds can always find a way to a happy ending. It is our position that there is nothing we can do as a company that will please (removed member name) (the customer's wife). Would we recommend her as a client? No.

My wife, Julie, and I purchased our Bethel Park home in June of 2012. Shortly before closing on the house, the inspector noticed the front wall had a significant bow to it. The previous tenant didn't have any gutters - and the subsequent rainfall in the front yard was causing the soil to push the wall in. We had wall anchors installed at that time - so the bowing was stopped. The anchors were installed by Matthews - NOT Aqua Guard. They have held up great. So, after some time we noticed the water had penetrated the blocks of hour home foundation... and was continuing to leak in. We received a few quotes - and, with price being the deciding factor, we chose Aqua Guard. We signed a contract for them to install an interior french drain with a sump pump to haul the water out and away from the house. To this date - the total quality of work is yet to be determined... because we just haven't had a significant rain or snowstorm since. Despite this, I'm ready to submit my review based on the assumption that it will all work smoothly. If not, I'll be sure to submit an update and/or second review. Off of the criteria (above) - the price was fair... it was the least expensive that we found for a comparable job... despite being very expensive to a middle class family. The overall quality looks alright... the pump seems to be installed correctly in the corner - and the cement work afterwards looks good. However - the responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism were really lacking. I was advised that someone would need to be present for the duration of the job. My wife was working - so I took the day off to be there... should anything go wrong. Inevitably, it did. We were told they would arrive by 9am - no show. We were called at 11am and told they would be there at Noon - no show. I called them at 1:30pm and was told they were seven minutes out - seven minutes later... no show. Finally around 2:30pm (five an a half hours later) the workers show up. Their leader assured me they were sorry and that they would work as quickly as possible. While I sat upstairs - I could hear the workers laughing and having a good time while they jackhammered my basement floor. I'm all for having a good time while working... but not when you arrive that late to a job. They quit around 5pm - leaving my basement a complete mess and unusable for the entire weekend... with a pile of gravel laying in my driveway, too. They showed up mid-morning that following Monday to "finish up". They left no instruction manual, didn't speak with my wife to see if we had any questions - NOTHING. Having missed a complete day of work, not having a clue as to how to operate the pump (or if instructions were needed at all), and no sign of real remorse on the secretary's part - I was livid. I haggled with the secretary to see what could be done to remedy the situation - given the circumstances. In no fewer than three e-mails I was reminded of how unpredictable their line of work can be... and, of course, that I still owed the full balance. Again, the jury is still out on how well the system works. But, given the criteria right now - I'm still a very unhappy customer and would not choose to conduct business again with Aqua Guard. I'd actually go as far as discouraging family, friends, and potential customers from doing business with them. If you value your time - do some more searching before you decide on a company.
Description of Work: The provider installed a sump pump with an interior french drain.

We are sorry to hear about [member name removed] disappointment and think it is unfortunate that he feels this way. As we do with each customer, every effort was made to make sure his project was completed successfully, professionally and with as little disruption as possible to his schedule and home which we were inevitably able to do. We did have a small hiccup with projects overlapping as the project before[member name removed] took longer than expected to complete due to additional work that was added late in the project. Mr. Spinda was informed that the crew would be delayed to start his project and would be at his home as soon as possible. Constant communication via phone and email was maintained with [member name removed] throughout his project and his consent was obtained when changes to the schedule were necessary. At no time was [member name removed] advised that he needed to be present for the installation, this was his choice. We have customers that do not wish to be present due to the noise level and will make arrangements for our crew to let themselves in and out. Because of the late start on Friday, we did need to come back on Monday for an additional day to complete his project. [member name removed] advised us that his son was sick and we were not to disturb his wife at all. Any questions were to be answered by him and we were to contact him by phone as he was at work. [member name removed] stated that he wasn’t given any information about the system, or left with a manual. When [member name removed] first met with Frank Franci, information about the system was provided at that time. This is a maintenance free system. He was shown how the system would be installed, advised of the materials that would be used and what the system is designed to do, etc. We also provide a frequently asked question page after installation and if the customer is home, will do a walk through to answer any questions. Since we were advised not to disturb his wife however, the crew left his home and I followed up with an email stating his project was complete and to contact us with any questions. I also offered for our foreman to call him personally to discuss any concerns he had. [member name removed] declined this offer. As for [member name removed] comment about a lack of remorse on my part, that couldn’t be farther from the truth as my communications with [member name removed] conveyed an apology for his inconvenience, an understanding about his frustration as a fellow consumer that there was a delay and a guarantee to make sure we would successfully complete his project on Monday without further delay which we did. We are thankful for the opportunity to have worked with [member name removed]

Tom Gallagher met with us several times to discuss our problem and to develop the solution described above. The work was done when scheduled and was done professionally. All our questions and concerns were answered. Not only were we satisfied upon completion, it is now more than a year later and despite several significant ( 2 inches or more) downpours our basement has remained free from water damage . Tom was the only one of the five company's we called that was willing to customize a system for us that preserved the integrity of our 180 year old chimneys as well as allow us to replaster the basement walls. This is the third job Tom has done for us, all have been 100% successful.
Description of Work: WE needed the basement of an 1833 house we were restoring waterproofed. The basement wall were fieldstone which allowed rain water and snow melt to enter. The basement had been finished wit horsehair plaster walls which were saturated. We removed the plaster and AquaGuard installed Mira Drain waffle like plastic sheeting on the walls that directs any water into an interior perimeter drain with two sump pumps to discharge the water to the outside.

If you need an honest and fair firm for waterproofing services, you will be well served to contact AquaGuard and their sales manager Frank Franci. On two occasions at two different properties, Mr. Frank Franci came to inspect some basement water problems. The first was a home we were considering purchasing, which needed major waterproofing work. A second firm reviewed this property and proposed repairs which Mr. Franci pointed out were not needed to solve the water problem. Although we ended up not purchasing this property because of other unrelated problems, we were very impressed at the knowledge and honesty of Mr. Franci. The second property is a home I own. After recent heavy rains, he viewed an area of the foundation which I thought would need repairs and advised me that there was no evidence of a foundation water problem and all that was needed was landscape grading. Although in both cases no work was done, I would not hesitate to call AquaGuard and Mr. Franci whenever any such work is needed. It is refreshing to find an honest, knowledgeable representative and firm such as Mr. Franci and AquaGuard.
Description of Work: Provided inspection services related to basement water problems at two residential properties.

The work went very well. The work was dustless despite a jack hammer chopping up the concrete. Our water problem is solved. They were on time. Some changes had to be made in drain placement to accomadate current pipes. They made sure we knew what they were doing and why. They cleaned up their mess and were pleasent to have in our home.
Description of Work: We had water coming in the back door of our basement during severe rain. This was due to poor design when the house was built. We also had water puddling against the front wall of the basement. The representative of Aquaguard first identified the puddling water at the front of the basement as downspout trouble which was easily fixed. The water at the back door required a drain under the concrete to re route any excess water straight to our sump pump.

They were very kind, they did exactly how I would have done the work and did a beautiful job. You can't even tell their was a crack there to begin with.
Description of Work: I had a crack in the wall so they came and put a support up for the wall, they took out my steps, dug down into the footer, put a french drain down, gave me a new down spout underneath the ground, they connected it to the french drain, dug that all the way to the street, put pip into the block, put cement in the block to reenforce the wall every 4 feet and made the wall stronger so it wouldn't happen again. Then they put a tar coating on the outisde of the wall and put water repellant insallation against the wall, put rock down and then the dirt.

Provider looked over the problem with the flooded basement / garage and offered a two step solution. He recommended we trench inside the basement walls and install sump pumps to remove the water. He also said that they could do some work outside to help with the problem. I told him we weren't doing anything inside until that outside was fixed. If we pumped the water out of the basement it could only run down the hill and back into the garage / basement. He asked me to talk to the Township about location of the storm sewer out front. He did follow up a couple of weeks later but since I didn't have an answer from the township it was left hanging.

The quote amount was about $28000. Everything was positive with those guys. Tom Gallagher seemed like a first rate, top notch guy. He has a good product. He seemed very competent and knew the business. One of the things that he told me was that they foundation system that he was selling was what he has put on in his house. When I researched, the product seemed to be a very good one.
Description of Work: AquaGuard Systems Inc gave me a quote to excavate the entire foundation of the house down to the bottom of the footer, put in a new drain system and then water proof the foundation.
