Aleh was wonderful from start to finish of our project. He gave us suggestions of where we could find reclaimed barnwood mantle pieces. He also gave recommendations of what the best stone was to use. He always arrived on time and was very professional. His work was exceptional and looks absolutely beautiful now that it is done. We would absolutely use him again for future projects.

Aleh was prompt in coming out to make an estimate (which was excellent), accurate in scheduling (had to postpone by a week after initial date due to rain - but let me know in advance), made repairs in promised amount of time at a very reasonable price. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

This is Aleh's second job with us. Last summer we hired him for some outside work and he did such a fantastic job that we wanted him back to work on our fireplace. We took a very 'classic' looking fireplace with a large mirror, white wood mantel, brick hearth to a sleek dry stack stone floor to ceiling. We love it, the stone looks great - everyone who has seen it is floored at the way the room has been transformed. Mission accomplished! Aleh is great to work with. He is. very punctual and professional on the job. He has good overall experience with stone and is a good sounding board for stone style and color. He works quickly and efficiently, and I think has a good eye on placing the stone. His speed does not get in the way of his thoroughness and eye to detail. He is also good at cleaning up after the job is complete.

Aleh was very reliable, punctual and passionate about his work. This wall was a part of a larger remodel. The project timeline shifted a few times and Aleh was flexible with these shifts. We enjoyed working with Aleh and found his work to be high quality. We plan on having Aleh work on additional projects in the future.

Prior to the installation, the provider met with us and made sure that we were on the exact same page with every little detail - even things that we didn't think about, like what to do with the light switches on the side. He gave his professional advice and shared his thoughts and ideas about what he thought would look best. If he disagreed artistically, he would be honest and tell why, but he said he would do whatever we wanted to have done. He helped us organize and make a plan about everything we needed to prepare on our end before he would be able to begin his work. He made sure that we knew exactly what size we needed certain parts of the fireplace to be as well as where and how to hang the mantel. He also guided us with contact information for a provider for the stone. He kept in constant contact and responded to questions quickly throughout our end of the process while we got things ready for him to begin. A few days before he began working, he met with us a final time to touch base and make sure everything was ready to go. He was very clear about how much time he would need to complete his job and told us exactly what he would be doing each day. He stopped by a day or two before the job began with some of his materials for the job. The first day he did prep work and put the capstone on the top of our fireplace and the hearthstone on the hearth. He noticed that our mantle was slightly off level, so he aided in fixing that problem . The second day he showed up very early with a helper, and they worked nonstop for at least 12 hours - maybe even 14 hours. It was a long day, but they never complained. He worked diligently on cutting and installing the stone. He was very creative with his cuts and placement. His partner worked on the mortar in the gaps in between his stonework. They were clean and careful of their surroundings in the home as they worked. Afterwards, he and his partner cleaned thoroughly. We were extremely satisfied with every aspect of this provider's work, and we were amazed by his artistic creativity. The beauty of the fireplace exceeded our expectations - we were thrilled with the results! We recommend this provider with highest regards! A+++++!!!!!

Aleh did a great job refacing my brick fireplace with cultured stone. He also installed a sandstone mantle and hearth. He showed up when he said he would and performed high quality services. Would definitely recommend!

My Husband and I are remodeling a home on the South-side slopes of Pittsburgh. My husband and his Architect friend Mark Trimbur designed the addition and remodel in the American modernist style incorporating the natural elements of the site into the home. We opted for a mixed dry stack natural stone veneer supplied by NSVI and began the stone mason interviewing process. After receiving seven bids from various stone masons we commissioned A-Z Stone Works to do the work. Aleh promptly showed up on the scheduled time, viewed the drawings, took measurements and was very professional in both appearance and manner. My husband being in the design and building industry was very impressed with his knowledge and professional, no nonsense demeanor. A-Z Stone Works was there for us from start to finish. Aleh and my husband had several design meetings, went to purchase the stone together and A-Z Stone Works started promptly on the exact date scheduled. The stone cladding concept was not easy to install or prep for, stone on the first floor and a 3 story chimney / chase. Aleh and his crew where tireless in the installation, sometimes working 10 hour days and several days from sun-up to sun down. It was obvious from the start that every member of A-Z Stone Works took ownership in the installation of the stone. Laying dry-stack stone is not an easy straight forward job. Each piece must fit with another in an artistic way that A-Z Stone Works approached with the conviction of a master artisan. Aleh took the project on as personal challenge and bid the job fairly; certainly not the least expensive, however, as you can see by the photographs, the final product was worth twice what we paid. If you are in a need of masonry work and need a true artisan do not hesitate to call A-Z Stone Works. My husband swears by Aleh and A-Z Stone Works and has stated to many other peers, builders and friends he could not have achieved his concept for the home without them, in his words, ?The stone work was everything?.

Aleh was easy to work with. There was no pressure to buy and he spent time talking and showing me examples of his work. His time was punctual. They did their work quietly and there was nothing to clean up when they left. The walkway is beautiful.

I cannot say enough good things about Aleh and his crew. From start to finish A-Z did exceptional work with the utmost professionalism. Below is my list of why I would recommend A-Z Stone to anyone. - Kept all appointments and was on time every time - Kept in communication throughout the project and while the stone was on order - Gave an upfront, professional, and reasonable estimate of the work and cost and stuck to it - He and his team are some of the hardest, diligent workers I have seen - they worked from early morning until late in the day and even came on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) to get the job done - Work was completed on or before the promised date - The work was highly professional and detailed - the right combination of artistry, craftsmanship and execution - They have pride in their work and I have pride in the finished product

Alex was probably the best contractor I have ever hired. Did a tremendous job and was timely and very professional. The quality of the work was as good as it gets and I will be using him in the spring for another project. Pricing was very fair and for the work performed was a tremendous value. I would recommend him as highly as I could recommend any contractor. If you have stone work that needs done, you need to hire A-Z.

Aleh is a pleasure to work with. We found him on Angie's List and he promptly answered our inquiry and came to our home to provide an estimate. He communicates effectively through the message function built into Angie's List He was helpful in suggesting colors and other materials for the project. He was on time, worked quickly and did a nice job of cleaning up after himself. Although the areas he did for us had been covered in stone previously, he suggested we add to the existing project by carrying the stone to the other side of the French Door. I'm glad we followed that recommendation. The stone looks wonderful, the additional area makes the overall area look more balanced and finished that it did originally. In the front of the house we had just put stone in just over a year ago. we thought it was not right, and asked Aleh to evaluate it. He pointed out some poor craftsmanship and thought we may have water damage behind the stone. Despite not wanting to re-spend money on the project we had him take down that stone - and sure enough there was water damage. He repaired that and then put new stone on the area. I wish we would have found him BEFORE we had the other contractor do that work. It was an expensive mistake. You will not need to worry about that with Aleh and A-Z Stone Works.

Alex is very punctual and professional. He has a good eye on placing the stone. He is very thorough. He laid down tarps and cleaned up afterwards. I highly recommend him!

Communication with Aleh was super. He kept in contact with us every step of the way. The porch came out super. Very happy customer.

Can't say enough about the tremendous job Aleh and his guys did. The new slate patio is gorgeous! Aleh was great about keeping in touch and communicating throughout the entire process, and he is very receptive to any feedback or concerns. The crew was professional, diligent, and VERY good about keeping things cleaned up/picked up on a daily basis. Definitely would recommend A-Z Stone Works! In fact, we're having them come back sometime later this summer for another project!

From the start, Aleh was straightforward, and kept things simple. He arrived on time to survey and provide an estimate. He is very good at communicating, verifying visits and milestone commitments the day before by phone and by Angie's List messaging. There are no suprises with Aleh. He looked over the fireplace. Asked questions of our needs. Asked what he would do and what I prefered to do. He said he would provide a quote that afternoon, and did just that. The bid was competitive. From his measurements, he suggested we buy a certain amount of stone. It seemed tight to me, as boxes of cultured stone only come in fixed increments. I bought extra stone anyway. We have leftover stone, but that's my fault. One person's "tight" is another's "efficient." I'm happy. We had a problem having the stone delivered to our home, as neither of our cars are suited for such. Aleh picked up the stone a week before, and brought it to our home to dry off (from recent rains) in our garage. On job day, Aleh and his assistant arrived on time, (verified the night before) and got right to work. They refaced a fireplace with Buck County Ledgestone from floor to ceiling. They did all the demolition and prep work of mortar-boarding to replace drywall and lining up with the existing red-brick. They started in quickly mixing cement and laying stone. One of my responsibilities was to cut the raw cedar mantle to a specific length. This was just a pre-arranged agreement, as I did not know the mantle length I wanted at bid time. I was pleasantly suprised by the amount of work done AFTER the stone was laid. This was not a matter of buttering stones and laying them up. Tasks such as inserting supporting cement with cake-decorating tubing, the clearing out cement to provide interesting stone overhang effects, and the endless cycles of brushing & vacuuming drying cement to clean a finished product. These tasks in themselves took hours. In the end, the job took a day, as promised. 8:30am-5:00pm. It is clear that Aleh is starting out and making a name for himself. He is succeeding. At the same time, it is clear that he started as an outdoor sidewalk, wall and patio guy. I noticed some small matters that I attributed to some inexperience in the indoor world, which are easily remedied, even through insistence by the buyer: 1) The need for more preparation of securing the floor space from scratches or dents (to the hardwood) from dropped bricks. I have no such complaints, but the arrival of some moving-company blankets would have been welcome. 2) Preparation for working indoors up high. I had prepared two step ladders with a 3-board bridge before their arrival, just because I had been there, and done that. It turns out to have been needed, 3) I had fashioned a hook to be embedded in the concrete and wrap befind the stones for later ease of hangiing a wreath or whatever above the fireplace. This had not occured to anyone. Anyway, these are small matters and come with experience. Their work was excellent, and I recommend them strongly for future work. I have a walkway and stairs outside that needs work, and will call them for later this summer, should the budget allow.. -Ron Tozzie

Everything was great! I wanted the project done very quickly because we were having a party in two weeks. Aleh came and gave us a price, helped us to locate a stone supplier, and gave us suggestions on what to use all within the week of my call. He always answered all of my calls and messages and was very accommodating. He fit us in on a Sunday and completed the project from arrival to clean up within five hours. He had one helper with him and they thoroughly cleaned the entire work area before leaving. We received a ton of compliments on the work from everyone at the party. We are very pleased with the entire experience, including the price and quality of work.

He came to look at the fireplace and bid the job at a fair price. He set up a date/time to come do the job. He showed up on time and did a fast and efficient job. Him and his worker cleaned up the area they worked in and left our home as they found it. The fireplace looks absolutely beautiful!

We contacted Aleh, and he came to the house to look at the fireplace. We discussed possibilities for what could be done for the fireplace and he directed us to a local stone store where we could look at samples. We decided what product to use and we obtained the stone and brought it to the house. Aleh and his helper came on the appointed day, set themselves up, and installed the stone, all in one day. They cleaned up when they were done. Only thing that could have improved the experience was more help or guidance with obtaining an updated mantel.

I did not re contact this provider because of mistake on my part with communication exactly what I was looking for. I wish there was a way to just DELETE my review since I really have no opinion of this provider.

Very happy with the great job Aleh and his crew did. Their price was very compettive and their work was amazing. They were neat and got the job done in a few days. The stone work looks beautiful and I would definitely recommend them. They are true artisans!

We have used this company numerous times and the work is top notch! The crew is on time, polite, and efficient. They are a joy to have in our home. We would highly recommend them to anybody and look forward to using them In the future. The owner is a true craftsman.

Aleh paid special attention to the existing stone and mortar colors and was very successful in integrating the new work into the old work. He and his crew know what they're doing and pay a great deal of attention to detail. Would recommend and use again.
