Despite being ASSURED when I made the appointment that COVID-19 protections would be used (mask, gloves, booties), the tech came to my house with nothing and had nothing in his truck. I can not be without A/C due to a medical condition of my young son and could not wait for another appointment, so I let the tech into my house. I kept 6 feet away from him at all times, even when he tried to call me over to look at his handheld computer. I am beyond diligent about keeping my house, my work, and my hands sanitized. At my age, COVID is deadly. I had always been a loyal customer of A-Comfort Service and have never let any other company service my furnace or A/C for over 20 years. What I got in response from the manager was "sorry".

I bought a brand new AC and furnace a while back from a comfort service. At the time when the company installed the furnace, the sales guy M told me he will offer me a free filter and one free tune up after the installation. But when I called them recently for the free tune up, the owner and sales guy told me that they did not said that before. They are very unhonorable business – please avoid with all cost. There is also a funny story about the sales guy. One morning he visited my house. (I forgot why?) He just opened my front door without knocking. I forgot to lock the front door the night before and my alarm system made a really loud noise and woke us up. Who on the earth do that? I had to buy a new smart lock because of the incident so that I can get notification every time the door is unlock for too long. When I tried to talk to them to figure out solution. The owner encouraged me to leave a negative feedback on internet. I normally don’t leave reviews, especially bad reviews, but if this is suggested by the owner, I should honor his ask even though he doesn’t honor his promise to me.

They figured it out! A Comfort has serviced our boiler for a number of years and always provides top quality, responsive service. They are not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. We also use them for the Mitsubishi system we installed several years ago and with which we are highly satisfied.

A Comfort came to my parents' house twice to fix the air conditioner. They charged $700+ and the repairs they did didn't fix the problem either time. We still had to call another company who diagnosed the problem right away and fixed it immediately.

The office said I could have the first appointment available that Tuesday to just have the leak fixed or I could wait until Thursday and they could do all of the items on our list OR so they said. The first thing the plumber said when he arrived on Thursday was that his truck was in the shop so he didn't have any of his tools and he couldn't do anything that day. The leak was getting much worse so he made arrangements to come back the next day with help to fix the frig. He did come back the next day and fixed the leak but nothing else was addressed. He made another appointment for the next week and started to change out the faucets but then ran into the issue that he could not change them (but the old ones were gone) because the fittings underneath were corroded so he ordered new fittings and would have to come back to finish the next week. He also ordered a toilet to replace our current toilet and changed out some of the parts of other faucets we were replacing. The next time he came he still could not fix out faucets because the new fittings did not fit the faucets we had ordered - all Moen. We ended up being without faucets in our master bath for over two weeks. He replaced the toilet and there were no issues with that. The faucet he replaced in the powder room developed a leak and the tub faucet in the guest bath now only runs extremely hot water and it had been fine before he worked on it. He fixed the powder room leak but quoted us an additional 400 -600 to fix the problem in the guest bath tub. He did fix a leak in our basement pipes and it seems fine now. There were issues all down the line and I had him in my house of five different days and it was very frustrating!! I have always used A Comfort for Heating and Air conditioning but I just don't think I will be able to call them again for plumbing. It was too frustrating and VERY expensive!!
Description of Work: We needed a leak fixed in our kitchen first, and also had a long list of other jobs we asked to have done at the same time: toilets fixed, faucets replaced, a leak fixed.

.On Feb 4th Jack from A-Comfort Services came to my house to find out why we were not getting any heat. He found that it was because the Sage Control Circuit Board had gone bad and needed to be replaced. He said that there would be no charge for the part because it was covered under the warranty. He wrote up the estimate stating that it would be $280 for two hours of labor, $47 for what was listed as regular trip, and $3.00 for fuel. Totaling to $330, he asked for half the money that day so I paid him $165. The next day when he came to put the part in, it didn't take him anymore than ten minutes. When he asked for the rest of the money I told him that since he didn't take the two hours he claimed it would take, I shouldn't owe him anymore money. Then he tried to tell me that he could have charged me for the circuit board because I didn't follow what it said in the warranty about doing maintenance. In other words making sure I had the boiler checked every year. Then he showed me where the word maintenance was in the warranty. In this part of the warranty it states that that warranty does not cover for "any damage, defects, or malfunctions resulting from improper operation, maintenance, misuse, abuse, accident,..." Now he was assuming that I hadn't had yearly maintenance done because I wasn't calling A-Comfort to do it. I pointed out to him that I had been doing yearly maintenance, having someone come in and check it from a qualified company from off of an Angie's List deal. Then he switches over to telling me that he had to drive a half hour to go and get the part. So now because he couldn't get me on the maintenance, he's going to throw that in. He left without getting anymore money from me, but his supervisor Bill Hagmier called me. Mr. Hagmier politely admitted that Jack didn't properly explain things to me and we ended up compromising and I sent them a check for $70. I had looked into some other reviews of A-Comfort and there was one where a worker told someone that they didn't have to honor the warranty because this person used another company to do yearly maintenance checks. The Magnuson -Moss Warranty Act is a United States federal statute that governs warranties on consumer products. There is a section referred to as "Tie-In Sales" Provisions. It states: Generally, tie-in-sales provisions aren't allowed. That's a provision that requires a consumer to buy an item or service from a particular company to keep their warranty coverage. I hope that this info is helpful to other Angie's List Members.

Frank came out and reviewed our current system. He provided repair and replacement options and was very knowledgeable about the products. We chose replacement after a very detailed estimate for several options. Jason and Paul arrived on time and took excellent care of our home. Frank arrived during the install to go over a few details and explain everything about the new system and inspect ductwork. We had a wonderful experience with A-Comfort Services from start to finish. Very professional and no detail was too small. Thank you for a painless experience.

They’ve been pretty good so far because I had long-standing relationship with them so it’s probably why. That’s where I bought my furnace and air conditioner. Every year, they come and service everything so that’s been my 15th year long before I’ve been with Angie’s List. There weren’t any issues. I have an extended service agreement with them so I pay the price that currently covers me for three years. They make it very convenient for you. The quality is very good. They actually call me and schedule me, which is really unusual. They come when they said they are coming.

Very professional, on time, did good work. Very responsive when we called as we initially were not happy with the repair, and the serviceman went out of his way to make it right, even bringing back a part in inclement weather. All communications were very good, including setting up appointment. Curiously, the technician had me sign something that said it was an emergency, and I couldn't back out. He came back two weeks later to repair (waiting on a part). Emergency? I regret signing that. Seems shady to me. (There was no emergency) Price: He installed around $700 worth of parts, 1 man, 2 hours, the charge was (approx.) $2090. That's $695/hour. Wow. I'm in the wrong biz :)

We get them to do regular furnace inspections so when they did that in December, they found a part that was going bad that needed to be replaced and they replaced it. The date is approximate. They came in to give me a quote started off nicely as it seemed as if the salesman was listening but this gradually turned into me feeling like I was being boxed into a corner and not listened to. The price was atrociously high and I was insulted that I could not get any kind of a break. My business partner recommended this company to me. He dealt with the owner and not this slick salesman who basically talked me into a much larger and fancier system than i needed. To top it off when i tried to reduce the tonnage of the system there was no respectable reflection in the price adjustment. 1300 to install an 300 thermostat just because it connects to the internet? I'm not an idiot. In the end I installed my own system for 3000 bucks. I got everything I wanted and then some. If you are handy like I am (I warned the salesman but he didn't beleive me I'm sure) go check out AlpineHomeAir dot com. A-Comfort wanted around 10000 yes, ten thousand. By the end the salesman was thoroughly talking over me most of the time. That is the truth. I do not reccomend this outfit even though I am told the owner is good to deal with. His salesman, on the other hand, you fill in the blanks. I had to wait a week for a quote and then he conned me into taking the only appointment available "within the week" the others much farther out so I felt pressured into taking it at the time. After sleeping on it, I called back the next day and cancelled. What a joke. That is, unless you like paying 3 times as much for the same thing. You may also see my review for ARS whom I called to pull a vacuum on the lines but they never showed up. This whole thing has been a nightmare.
Description of Work: Nothing but give me an outrageous bid. I think the salesman thought I was made of money, cornered and didn't have a choice.
