ZIMMERMAN ROOFING

I asked to meet with the roofer, but the father said it was not needed and they would get on the roof from the sidewalk. I mentioned that there was a lower roof that i had questions about, and he would be unable to access that roof without coming through the house. He said it was ok since he would get all the information he would need from an inspection report. Apparently the son came over while my fiance was home; however my fiance was unaware or he would have come outside to meet him. My fiance saw the business card on the floor on his way out the door. When I spoke again to the father Tom, It took me about 30 minutes to explain the parts of the roof and flashing i had concerns about, all of which he had no idea what I was talking about. I told him it was frustrating to try and describe something, that he had not seen, is only going off pictures from an inspection report, and I'm obviously not a roofer and had dificulty finding the words. I let him know that I was concerned about an active water leak coming from the peak of the roof, but he was not sure what I was talking about, and told me if they would find something they would fix it. He suggested I make an appointment on either a Thursday or Friday, where I could meet with him and show him the parts that (his son) would not have had access to, and I could show him what I wanted to have fixed. (How else do you agree on work or a proposal if it's all a mystery until they are giving you the bill?). I said yes I would like to be there to meet him, (which i had asked from the beginning) and I asked if 3:30pm was ok. This is where he started yelling at me that he was a 70 year old man and how dare I tell him what time he should meet me. He then went on a rant and would not even process when I told him I was ASKING him if 3:30 was ok, and why did he not just say he could only meet at a certain time. He continued to yell at me on the phone and then told me he would charge me $200 for the visit, and told me he was no longer interested in talking to me. Iand quot;m not sure what happened, but obviously this was a dead end and this guy was a total jerk. P.S. There is a blatant misspelling on his business card of and quot;Roffingand quot; work. If you can't even get your business cards right, let alone manners forget it. That was a very condescending and rude phone call.

It went very well. They were very good. They were punctual and cleaned up after themselves. I thought they did the work for a fair price.

Not a success story. After the estimate, during which we showed the representative the areas where the leaks were occurring, we contracted to have Zimmerman Roofing come to the house to do the repairs. They came on time, did some work, and we paid them $580. After the first rain, several areas still leaked. We requested they come out to fix what they said they would fix the first time. They patched up an area but charged us an additional $180. We paid the additional amount even though we thought the charge was unfair. Unfortunately, all the leaks have come back in exactly the areas we had asked the company to repair the first time around. We are now seeking a roofing company that will be able to do what Zimmerman was unable to do correctly - fix the roof.

Everything always went very well. I have never had any complaints and have also referred them to other friends. Mr. Zimmerman has always been very timely and responsive.

I talked to them but did not end up using their services. I had a leaky roof. They came in and checked. They thought that it was a masonry problem and not roofing. They referred me to a masonry guy. The masonry guy came out and gave me a quote for $23000. I called another local masonry guy and he did the job for $2800. It was not Zimmerman that gave the quote but the guy that they referred me to. Their representative came out but it took him two weeks to come out. He did not try to tell me that it was a roofing problem as it wasn't which was good. He was courteous and referred me to somebody else. Once he referred me to this other guy, it was out of his hand and he was not responsible for the astronomical figures that the other guy quoted. He was honest. It took a little while for him to get here but he came out and looked at the job. I would recommend him and would give him a shot at the job. It was a strange situation and so, he did not end up doing the work. He had a tiny bit of an attitude but nothing else.

They did tell me something about the chimney when they did the roof for me, but I never got that done. So I called them and they came out to inspect it. This evidently was dependent on another type of service and so that was the end of it. However, the roofer was very prompt in showing up and inspecting the situation when I called him. The new roof that they had installed is responsible for 10 years and this was beyond that period. They were very good. The job turned out well. I was pleased with them because I was really concerned about how soon they could come, but they were very prompt. I have no idea of what I should have paid or what was the price for installing a new roof. So I wouldn’t be able to comment on their price. It’s pretty hard to comment on the quality too because nothing happened for 10 years. Their responsiveness was good. Their punctuality was excellent and they were professional too. I recommend them and I would call them again.

I really trust him. I feel like he is very upfront and fair. He doesn't need to cheat his customers because he's a good guy and does good work. I would recommend him to all of my friends and family.

I told Mr. Zimmerman I wanted him to look and see if repairs were needed and asked him to tell me how much a white coating would cost. He looked at my roof promptly and called me early one morning and told me how much he'd charge for repairs and also that my roof should not be coated. He said he could perform the work that very day. I told me I needed to think about it. Although I did not hire him, it was obvious that he was not out to maximize his profit at my expense.

I spoke to Tom Zimmerman on October 11, 2006 and requested an estimate for a roof replacement. He told me that he would get me an estimate within a week. To confirm, I said that I looked forward to hearing from him in about a week. He corrected me and said that I would receive the estimate WITHIN a week, not in a week, purposefully leaving me with the impression that I could receive the estimate within a day or two and certainly before 7 days. As of October 26 (more than 2 weeks later), I have not received the estimate, I have not heard from him, and he has not returned my call.

We needed a coating on our flat roof to meet our insurance company's requirements. Mr. Zimmerman called back promptly, did an estimate the next day and the work within the week. He did not try to talk us into more work than we asked for or needed (the roof had recently been inspected).

HE CAME OUT TO CHECK THE ROOF AND SAID THAT I DID NOT NEED ANY REPAIRS OR A NEW ROOF. HE SAID I NEEDED SOME TUCKPOINTING ON MY CHIMNEY. HE CHARGED ME NOTHING FOR THIS!

CALLED TO GET AN ESTIMATE FOR MY ROOF. CALL WAS RETURNED THE FOLLOWING DAY. MR. ZIMMERMAN LECTURED ME AND TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $100.00 FOR THE ESTIMATE SINCE MY HOUSE IS A 4 STORY ROW HOME. I AGREED TO PAY FOR THE ESTIMATE. HE SAID HE WOULD CALL IN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO AND COME OUT BUT IT'S BEEN A WEEK AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY CALL.

I THINK IT WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE OF THIS COMPANY TO TELL A CUSTOMER THAT SOMEONE WILL CALL THEM BACK AND THEN TO NOT FOLLOW THROUGH ON THEIR PROMISE. IF FOR SOME REASON THEY COULD NOT TAKE ON MY JOB, THEY COULD HAVE BEEN UP FRONT ABOUT IT. I WOULD NOT HAVE WASTED TIME WAITING FOR THEIR CALL. IF THEIR SERVICE IS SO POOR AT THIS STAGE OF THE GAME, I SHUDDER TO THINK WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY ACTUALLY START THE JOB.

VERY FAIR PRICE, WORK WAS DONE QUICKLY ONCE STARTED, LOOKS GOOD AND APPEARS TO BE HOLDING UP WELL. THOROUGH CLEAN-UP JOB. MR. ZIMMERMAN VERY POLITE AND PLEASANT. VERY RESPONSIVE TO PHONE CALLS, DID ESTIMATE PROMPTLY. MY ONE CRITICISM IS THAT I WOULD HAVE LIKED A PHONE CALL LETTING ME KNOW WHEN THEY WERE COMING TO DO THE WORK. I WAS SURPRISED THE DAY THEY SHOWED UP AND I NEEDED TO MAKE QUICK ARRANGEMENTS TO SPEND THE DAY OUT OF THE HOUSE WITH MY NEWBORN B/C ROOFING WORK IS LOUD.

HE CALLED ME BACK WITHIN AN HOUR. HE WAS HONEST WITH ME AND SAID THAT HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GIVE ME GOOD SERVICE BECAUSE I AM TOO FAR AWAY.

WE HAVE USED TOM ZIMMERMAN FOR YEARS. HE IS AN INTELLIGENT, CAREFUL, RELIABLE, HONEST, POLITE, WELL-SPOKEN AND EXTREMELY COMPETENT ROOFER. HE PRIDES HIMSELF ON HIS CRAFTSMAN-LIKE SKILL. HE WILL NOT TELL YOU A ROOF NEEDS DOING UNLESS IT DOES. (NOTE ON THE ABOVE WORK, HE COULD HAVE TOLD US ALL THREE ROOFS NEEDED DOING, BUT HE DIDN'T THINK THE THIRD ONE DID, AND HE TOLD US SO) HE WILL ALWAYS DISCUSS WITH YOU EXACTLY WHAT THE OPTIONS ARE. WHAT HE THINKS IS THE BEST SOLUTION AND THE MATERIALS FOR THE JOB. HE IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER ROOFERS, AND HE MAKES NO BONES ABOUT IT. HE KNOWS HE IS WORTH IT. HE IS.
