BEAUTIFUL CARPENTRY AT A FAIR PRICE ! We are a small pediatric medical office and wanted to do some renovations. Space has always been an issue for us. Ron came on time for the estimate and took his time asessing what we wanted and the best way to go about it.He is personable and knows his trade very well. He had lots of suggestions about how to create cabinets and shelving in a small room making the most of the space we have. He was very flexible in coming up with a plan that worked and one that we could afford. The entry door that he made for us is just MAGNIFICENT ! It shows high quality workmanship. Many of our patients have commented on how nice our new door is. Ron made the door look very professional. He was also nice enough to do a couple of minor jobs while he was in the office working on the main project. From start to finish this was an extremely easy process. Ron is honest and does wonderful work at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: Ron custom made a mahogany entry door, made and installed chair rails throughout our office, and installed cabinets and shelving in a room.

Ron installed a custom entryway for us. The work was made more difficult for him by mismeasurements and missing parts on the part of the door manufacturers. He spoke with the fabricators on the phone and told them what they needed to send and even made a missing piece that matched perfectly. The errors on the part of the manufacturer caused him to return three times to complete the work, rather than the one day planned. Nevertheless, he finished the job perfectly. We have already requested a quote on other work from him.

It went really well overall. Chris is a very pleasant, honest guy and clearly knows his stuff! I particularly liked that he managed to balance his own opinions with what we, the customers, wanted. He is obviously very experienced and was great about explaining our options and the pluses and minuses of each. For instance, installing a newel post at the end of a curlicue-type banister would have been pretty, but when I asked about it he was very frank that it wouldn't hold up as well to the wear-and-tear of a small child. He said this despite knowing that it would be of financial benefit to him to install the more complex piece. The work is very attractive, and is exactly what we were looking for, and was of a reasonable price. I also really liked that he didn't pressure us into one style or another, nor did he try to rush us to a decision. Finally, it was endearing to watch him patiently guide his apprentice through the process! My only slight gripe is that it took a really long time for us to find a date that would work. We kept getting told it would be another month, another 2 weeks. However, this probably means that Chris is in high demand (as he should be) and that he is (again) being honest about his availability. From the little that I know, this is fairly standard practice for contractors, so it's not a huge issue.
Description of Work: We had a banister built for our Philly row home. We previously had no banister at all, so Chris had to fabricate one, stain each piece and install.

Member, I am sorry we did not manage to connect or get you a quote. I try to respond to everyone that contacts my company; however, it seems I lost track and did not call you back. I only wish you had given me a call to see what had happened before resorting to negative feedback over something like this. Customer satisfaction is my top priority as the reviews from customers who have hired me indicates. Again, I am sorry for the miscommunication. Thank you, Ron Yeager, mail@yeagerwoodworking.com

Our detached brick garage had a set of old carriage house doors that were falling off the hinges. I first called a few several carriage house door builders in the state but the quotes for their custom made doors were 8K without installation. I found Ron through Angie's List and he came to inspect and quoted half that price. He recreated the doors using new and better materials and installed them with a combination of old and new hardware. His attention to details is wonderful and you can tell he takes pride in his work. I did the painting myself and they look terrific.
Description of Work: Removed two sets of carriage house doors and installed new custom built ones.

The job was finished quickly and without any issues whatsoever. We were very pleased.
Description of Work: Ron built a back deck for us last year. We couldn't have been more impressed with the quality of the deck- it's beautiful. It's actually better than we expected to have with our budget limitations. Ron was definitely the most professional contractor I have ever worked with- he was always there when he said he was going to be, and always let us know when he would be working. He's incredibly hard-working- he worked on the deck continuously until it was done. His work is meticulous- a true craftsman. I highly recommend him. Bravo!! We need more people like this around.

Ron was a true professional from start to finish. As an Architect, I can be harder than most on contractors. However, his work was perfect! I gave him drawings to work from but he still insisted on walking through the space and taking the time to really understand exactly what I wanted (both before he gave his price and again, before he started work). I really appreciated that. There were also areas that he had good suggestions on how to make it look better, even though it didn't match the drawings. We talked through his ideas and usually, they made more sense. I also had a hard deadline that I had to meet. Ron understood that and gave himself enough time to get the project done without having to rush or cut corners. I even had two days to spare! Ron delivered my vision in flawless form! I couldn't have asked for a better execution.
Description of Work: Ron installed finish trim (wall, window and door trim) in a bathroom. He had to replicate historical trim found elsewhere in the house using stock wood pieces. Since the bathroom is small, he had to work in some very tight spaces and around other fixtures. He cut everything to fit, sanded everything smooth and filled in all the nailholes. We did the painting ourselves but he gave us good tips on what type of paint and primer to purchase.

The living room of a house we recently bought was badly paneled, had very dated wood around the fireplace, no mantle, and had alcoves to either side of the fireplace that we wanted to turn into a combination of lighted, glassed-in display shelving and closed cupboards. Mr. Yeager worked with us to design the space and carry out the work; he was able to translate our (rather inchoate) ideas into beautiful finished pieces. He spent a lot of time on his first visit, talking through the project, showing photos of some comparable work he had done before, studying the space, taking measurements, and talking about wood options. I learned a lot, and it was a good investment of time up front, because we were able to save time later in the process when it was time to make decisions. He listened carefully enough and provided a thorough enough illustration that we could easily visualize the design and it was right the first time. He didn't mind that the furniture wasn't the "main event," since we wanted the shelves to display art objects. We have very plain tastes, and were pleased that he didn't try to talk us into frills or flourishes. We weren't in a hurry about the work, which was a good thing, because at at that time, Mr. Yeager was scheduled some months out. We signed our contract in August. He promised he would have the work done by Christmas, and made good on his promise. He also accommodated our work schedules, coming out when one of us could be home. He was good about managing our expectations, calling to confirm schedules or explain work. On our job he worked by himself - no helpers. He's clean and quiet, within the parameters of the work. He cleans up nicely after, and was careful of our carpets and our aged, deaf pet. He is actually quite pleasant to have around the place. If I showed interest, he would explain the work processes. We had talked to commercial cabinetry people about this job before turning to a custom furniture maker. We called Mr. Yeager with some trepidation, fearing the work might be out of our price range. But he worked with us on wood choices that made it not only possible, but a bit lower in price than the commercial options. We did contact another carpenter who was highly rated on Angie's List, but that company wasn't interested in our job. Overall, we couldn't be more pleased. The process was easy, and we love the results. Sometimes we just go and touch the furniture because it is so smooth and silky. Now we're saving up for another job we hope he will do for us.
Description of Work: Concealed a wall of paneling so it looks like regular drywall, updated the wood frame around a fireplace, made and installed a mantle, built and installed custom art-display cases (lighted, glass display shelves) and closed cupboards. The display shelves had sliding glass doors. The shelving/cupboarding wraps around the fireplace area to look built-in.

It is a single individual that runs this and his name is Ron. For a part of my renovation I installed new windows and he had to come and do some finishing work. We had some new holes in the wall so we had to do the trim around the windows. He sat down with me and he had some ideas and we came to an agreement as to what the trim would be. He provided me an estimate via email and he is a man who is working and crafting something with his hands. It is more expensive than going to a big buck store and cutting it at angles and putting it together. He is actually manufacturing something for you. He was competitive in his pricing and his work was flawless. If he has a timing issue he would call you up and tell you what is going on. He has to set up his equipment and so if he is not able to make it he would tell you that somebody else would be working on it in my shop today. He takes good measurements. He did that one project and he would be coming to do the finishing work in the bedroom and I want to pursue it. He came in and we talked about several projects and I told him what we would do first. He is going to do follow up work automatically because I trust him. He is dependable and he gets a little back log once in a while but he would tell you where he is. I am not in a critical phase and that was the case when I first engaged him but right now I can phase it out. He sent me an estimate and I paid him his down money and he would be coming in January to do the finish work in the bedroom. When he is done with that he has given me an estimate for some beat board. I can go to a big shop and get sheets of beat board but he has a bit that he is going to do. He is going to put together a beat board ceiling. He is going to install that for me. He is a hardworking guy and I think as a small business person he knows and he has to juggle people. He is an introvert but I would rate him high.

Ron was really easy to work with. He showed up on time both to give an estimate and to do the work. He worked with me to create a project that would look nice in the space and be within my budget. I also appreciated that he was very flexible, as I needed to wait to close on the house before we could start work, but then I needed the work done ASAP. The railing has been in for four months now and still looks great and feels very sturdy. Thank you!

Ron called me back and within a few days and came to my home a couple of days later. He did it immediately and his price was reasonable. I appreciated his honesty and workmanship. I would highly recommend him.

I had trouble finding someone to come out for such a small job,but Ron agreed to and showed up when he said he would. After completing the task with the legs he offered to help me move the sofa to the room I wanted it in. This turned out to be a bigger project than expected, but Ron never gave up. We eventually got the right angle and the sofa fit. This was a very nice thing to do and certainly above and beyond what I expected.

Mr Yeager worked with me to assure that the piece was to my specifications. He first came to my home, upon my request, to get an idea of what I wanted. He sent rough drafts of the design for me to review, and I was able to request any changes until I was satisfied with the result. I had requested that the piece be unfinished, so that I can paint it, along with the remainder of my LR/DR in the color I wanted. On the day of delivery, Mr. Yeager was very courteous and professional, and very meticulous, from start to finish, even cleaning up afterwords. As I had to go to work very early, (I work very nearby)I was able to leave work to let him in, talk to him a bit, then return to work, allowing him to do his work. I returned later in the day to see the progress. It is clear he takes pride in his work. His work is beautiful. I am quite pleased with the end result. It looks perfect, and is just what I wanted. Understand that Mr. Yeager does beautiful and high quality work, and quality work does not happen overnight. But you will be glad you waited. I am.
Description of Work: I had a custom-made partial wall/bookshelf installed between my living room and dining room. It is nearly 6 feet in length and just over 6 feet in height ,and 12" wide. It is attached to one wall and also to the floor, so it a permanent fixture. Mr. Yeager had to make accommodations for a heating vent on the wall, so the bottom section, which is just over 3' high, sits about 10" away from the wall, and it is the top section that is attached to the wall. The bottom section is a bookshelf with fixed shelves on one side, and closed on the other. The top section is open shelving, using two different sizes, alternately, to accommodate knick knacks.

I was very pleased with all work, especially since I had gotten several estimates and this one seemed to be the best value considering his level of experience as a finishing carpenter and woodworker. Even though he's very busy, he was willing to fit in some additional minor jobs that went beyond the initial contract. He was friendly, trustworthy and professional.
Description of Work: Made and installed red oak panelling, including some cabinet resurfacing in large eat-in kitchen, removed old ceiling and installed a new ceiling (mock tin) in kitchen, installed a stove and microwave, installed ceramic tile in powder room, and fixed a door in upstairs bathroom, all in a house built in late 1800s.

I had Hurd workmen here 3 years ago multiple times to fix their own locking system and told me they no longer made the kind of lock for those doors. Their handywork did not work and my door remained permanently locked (and unable to be opened). A new set of replacement doors would be $4000. Mr. Yeager solved this problem for me and provided a good working system that is secure and reliable.

Ron was great to work with because he really worked with me to figure out exactly what I wanted. He was very accomodating when I requested last minute changes, even though they entailed a lot more work. He was professional and reasonably priced. I am extremely please with his quality of work...everything looks beautiful and exactly as I expected. Also, he was really careful and respectful of my home. I would definately reccomend him to others and use him again in the future.
Description of Work: Ron did woodwork in my living room -- windows and mantle. I have deeply recessed windows and he lined them with raised wood panels. He also did my mantel/fireplace. I had a very plain mantle and Ron transformed it into a showpiece! He matched the design of the existing mantel and extended it up to the ceiling also adding additional detail. The fireplace protrudes form the wall, so he adorned the sides with raised panels. He was even able to work everything seemlessly into my existing crown molding.

This was a complicated job, given the age and size of the doors. A number of contractors did not want to quote on the work. A number of contractors recommended revisions and modifications to the doors which we thought were unnecessary. Ron arrived to inspect the job when promised and he spent a long time with us explaining our options. We agreed on an approach and we received an estimate which we thought was very reasonable and we thought the estimate was based on the nature of the job and not the size of our house. The work was performed on time over two days and we were very satisfied with the results. Ron was careful to clean the entire area each day. He is very talented and he seemed genuinely concerned with the quality of his work. We were very pleased with his thoughful approach and the outcome. We would recommend him to anyone.

This was a tricky project as there were several challenging aspects to designing and building the bookcase. The bookcase is a permanent built-in unit that sits atop radiating pipes and in the corner of a family room. Because the bookcase was to be a L-shaped and next to two doors, we wanted to have rounded edges. Also the one side of the L goes to the ceiling but the other side is only 36" high. Ron worked closely with us on multiple iterations of the design so that the final product would fit the space well. This phase took longer than we expected, but it was in part because Ron was ill at one point. Once the design was finalized, Ron built the bookcase out of walnut. We ran into one problem when he arrived to install the bookcase and we discovered it didn't go to the ceiling as designed, but stopped 6 inches short. We worked together to design a open cap that he built at his studio and returned a week or so later to install. The final product is beautiful and is a wonderful addition to the family room. It was not an easy piece to design and build, but Ron was great to work with. He listened well and gave us a lot of good ideas. The quality of his workmanship is first rate.

How did it go? Yeager Woodworking saved us! We had three very bad contractors prior to calling him who could not, would not get the work done. Ron Yeager helped us to prioritize unfinished tasks & new projects, and did so with punctuality, precision, professionalism and calm. He had creative ideas for storage and design, and asked enough questions so that our needs and intentions were met. We suggested several ideas for design and he followed through beautifully, and he cleans up after himself! Over time, we have had projects for him on a smaller scale, and we get the same timely service and professionalism. We cannot say enough good things about our experience with Yeager Woodworking!
Description of Work: Constructed & installed custom granite-top counter cabinets with sinks, drawers & doors, made beautiful custom standing case for retail inventory, replicated antique bookcase to add hutch element, made interchangeable boxes and shelves for retail display, custom storage wall cases, constructed & installed special bookcases and bookshelves, fitted closets with custom storage cases, installed doors, wood baseboard & molding on straight and curved walls, made and installed finished work and molding for stairs and found solutions for the many requests and problems we presented.
