My fiance and I bought our flooring from YD Hardwood Floors during what we thought was an easy and painless sales process with Lee, but that quickly turned once the floors were delivered and we attempted to install them ourselves. We started the first room and after completed less than half of it, we noticed that a lot of the boards weren’t the same width, which resulted in many gaps. We went to the store the same day, and Lee kept repeating that the floors were final sale even though we didn’t go there to return them, but to understand why this kept happening. He then said that if they were to install it, they have a putty that they can use to fill in the gaps. We agreed to it and they came to the house less than a week later. Although the installation was quick, which we appreciated, that’s the only thing that was simple about it. We checked out all of the floors after they were installed, which took about 2.5 days, and we noticed a lot of areas with scratches and nicks, especially at the end of floor boards (see photos). We went to the store again to show them pictures of this. We spoke with a woman that worked there, but I unfortunately forgot her name. Initially, all she offered was a pen to fill them in. I told her that after spending almost $10,000 on flooring and installation, I wanted these to be done correctly and not with a pen. She told us that the flooring we selected was softer than other flooring and asked if the person who sold them to us told us this. Lee didn’t, and then we found out that he is no longer with the company. She said that she can send over someone to fill in all of the areas that were nicked. The worst part of this? We found four garbage bags of human feces in our yard and in our crawl space that was there for at least a week. The bag in the crawlspace wasn’t just placed in there, but actually thrown since it was at the other side of the area. We wouldn’t have noticed it if my fiance wasn’t installing the water pump in the crawl space. It says in the contract that you need to have a toilet for the employees (which we didn’t), but there are plenty of restaurants and other establishments for the workers to go to the bathroom. We would have even been OK if they said they weren’t going to start work until we have a port-a-potty. By not having a toilet, apparently you’re inviting workers to throw their feces wherever they wish. My fiance called YD Hardwood floors to tell them what he found, and all they said was that it says in the contract that toilets are required for the workers and offered to take off $50. The takeaway? Get ready for a painful process with miscommunication between salespeople, being told that the floor you selected was “final sale” over and over again and if you don’t have a toilet in your house, you’ll probably end up with some feces in your crawl space or somewhere else in your house.

I was displeased with their service and the fact that they charged my credit card without my authorization and they never fulfilled their contract. I had to pay twice and as of 4/20/16 the work has not been completed.
Description of Work: First, YD refused to give me a starting date they came two days and didn't come and didn't call to say they weren't coming. Then they brought the wrong materials. They called three days later and say their people wanted to take a holiday that day. They returned three more times and never completed their contract and I already paid them for services I did not receive. i told them I was aware that the work had not been completed even though I'd already paid them but I would work it out. According to them I owed them a thousand dollars for materials that had nothing to do with me. I told them I would work something out because I ended up having to pay twice for the work they didn't do. Last week they charged my credit card without my permission. Very shady company. I would not recommend doing business with them.

Ricki helped select the style of flooring in their sales office and then we scheduled installation. The material was all delivered on the scheduled day, but the installation date got pushed back a few times. The installation ended up happening maybe a week after the original date. The work was done quickly and cleanly, but Ricki's help was needed to explain and insist on some slight changes to the installation of the edging.
Description of Work: Installed roughly 400sf of new bamboo flooring with 1/4 round edging.
