It went well, but we were frustrated at first. We want to sell our home, and would like to do so this spring/summer (2013). We'd heard of Wally's reputation. In fact, he had visited us years' ago to assess the crown moulding and masonry work, but for some reason, we did not hire him at that time. As we began renovation on our house, our carpenter and electrician, even our real estate agent, urged us to contact him for the moulding work. As it turns out, not only did he repair crown moulding, but also worked on loose exterior butter bricks for us. We added a few other things needed as well as time passed, and he patiently addressed them at our request. His men mostly did the sanding part of renovating the moulding. They were very helpful. In fact, I served them all lunch for several days! (I was so grateful). Anyone involved in renovation of old houses knows what it is like to find a trustworthy, experienced, and talented person to work on your house. There is always a sigh of relief when such a person is found, and even an element of joy. This is what we experienced here.
Description of Work: Do hire this man and his crew! Although it may be difficult to get him to promise to come, once he's arrived at your home, you'll never be sorry. He is a west Philly jewel, and many people, having discovered his superior skills in plastering and masonry, seek his services. His associates, especially Juan and also Nate persevere and also carefully fulfil their tasks. I don't know many skilled craftspeople who know how to work on crown moulding; it's an ancient art (if you call the 19th Century, "ancient). I don't think many people know how to do it correctly! He arrived about five days ago and finished, for the most part, yesterday! We are very pleased with him!

The job required removal of all furnishings from two rooms because it was extremely dusty and messy, but I knew in advance to expect that as a consequence of the method I had elected to use. It was inconvenient and disruptive to do it this way, but the end results were well worth it. Mr. Walden and his crew did take significant precautions by putting down drop cloths in all of the rooms they would be passiing through or working in. Doors and openings were sealed off with plastic curtain walls and tape, to the best of their ability, but thre was still quite a bit of plaster dust that could not be prevented from travelling through the air to other parts of the house. Again, I expected this would happen so I was preparted for it and was still happy I chose this method of repair. Mr Walden and his crew were punctual, polite, and fast with their work (which took approximately 3 days), and this helped to minimize the disruption and make it more tolerable. The only difficulty I had was with scheduling. It took several attempts to reach Mr. Walden when I was trying to hire him for the job. He was busy and did not respond quickly, and I almost decided to look for another plasterer, but my patience ultimately paid off. I held out for his services, because he was well recommended, and I was not disappointed to have done so. It is hard to find plasterers who can repair old houses using real plaster.
Description of Work: Mr. Walden and his crew repaired several large sections of my plaster ceilings in both master bedroom and living room of my 100 year old house. They opened up the ceilings where there were existing holes, cracks and bulges (demolishing and removing the loose plaster). They exposed the structure down to the wood lathe, placed new wire mesh lathe to strengthen the structure, and then restored the plaster finish so that it was flat and even with the parts of the ceiling that did not need repair. The end result was smooth and structurally sound. They did an excellent job of restoring the plaster using methods consistent with the way the house was originally built (which was exactly what I wanted done, to preserve the character of my old house).

Description of Work: The company representative requested that I call back after 8pm instead of taking message. They seemed uninterested in taking details about the job.

Excellent. They started the work as promised. Took a little longer but worked every day. Knowledgeable and open to suggestions. Very good price, would hire them again.
Description of Work: They broke and removed a concrete retaining wall and rebuilt it. Added a filter fabric and pebbles behind the wall. The wall was topped with bricks. Added pipes for water drainage. They reset brick in other areas of the wall and removed all rubble. Reinstalled electrical outlet.
