Wesley refuses to make repairs and in the process of being sued, Refuses to make contact to resolve this issue without legal actions. This job remains uncompleted, as for the ceilings they are now distorted and uneven which reflects another effort to use my house as a practice site. Example of what this man considers excellence

Response from W N Painting & Remodeling
"I would like to emphatically report that this report is completely untrue in every way. Because I was very busy, I suggested the member use a trusted friend and excellent, experienced painter, Mr. Anderson, who did an excellent job. There are photographs which clearly demonstrate the excellence of his final job. However, I had no other formal involvement in this job, as a sub-contractor or in any other way. The member paid the final $2000, to Anderson which would hardly have been paid for an inferior job. In fact, he even asked Mr. Anderson to do another job on his ceiling, requiring another $3,500 of work. After this additional work was completed, the member then made a claim about Mr. Anderson’s behavior, I also have no reason to believe that Mr. Anderson would damage the walls he had already completed, a claim that defies logic except as a possible intent of claiming against my insurance, though I was not involved in the job. By the way, the person on the ladder pictured on my website is me, not Mr. Anderson as his message claims. No one who cares about quality work, honesty and concern about customers likes to have a poor review. However, since this report is based on untruths for no other imaginable reason than possible financial gain, I hope that those searching for an honest painter will consider the other reviews by those with intention to pay for an excellent job"

I contacted Wesley for an estimate and he responded promptly.  He was one of several other bidders and gave me the best price.  However I chose him because of all of the other positive reports I read on Angie's list, and he had experience painting other Victorian houses.  Wesley did pursue me for the job and was willing to negotiate the price if needed.  His crew came early every day and worked, worked, worked.    The job turned out beautiful.  I could not be happier.  I was most impressed with the prep job that they did.  My house was last painted in the 1980's and had a lot of peeling paint and damaged wood.  They took 2 days prepping the house, scraping the wood down to the bone.  They were so detailed and thorough.  They covered all my bushes and cleaned up after themselves.  I don't want to brag....but my house looks beautiful!  They put the make up back on my painted lady.  I am so thankful for this positive experience.

Wesley Neves and his team were punctual, courteous, and clean. They came and worked and worked and worked, they only seemed to stop for lunch. I hired him to paint my aunts house and she told me just today that not in her 80 plus years of experience has she ever hired a worker that was conscientious as Wesley. His work was thorough and very well done. His estimate was reasonable too. He removed all the storm windows and there are many.  He even repaired an outside faucet at no extra charge. We are so very pleased with the performance and the end result. Thanks Angies list, I really had no where to turn for such a huge job.

I would highly recommend Wesly Neves Painting to anyone. I received estimates for exterior siding wood repair and painting from several companies listed on Angie's. Wesley Neves offered me the best price. He started working on my house within 2 weeks as he promised and finished the work on time accounting for weather related delays. The work that his people did on my house include powerwashing of the entire house, replacing all the decayed wood sidings and window frames, and painting the entire exterior of the house. It took them about two weeks to complete the job. Wesley and his workers are hardworking, reliable, and well qualified professionals. I liked them so much that I hired his company again for interior painting which involves some dry wall and ceiling repair. I signed up for Angie's list for the first time to find a reliable painting company. It's probably one of the best decisions I've made. Make sure you get at least 3 to 4 estimates before you hire anyone. I couldn't belive how much the prices varied form company to company. Having said that, I would assure you based on my own experience that Wesley Neves would not disappoint you. Make sure you speak to him before you hire a company for painting work.

I contacted Wesley Neves after seeing his company on Angie's List. He came to our home and gave an estimate that was comparable to others we received. We agreed on the work and the timing, which was to be in mid-October. The actual work did not begin until a week later than originally agreed, but I was information of these changes well in advance. Once the work began, the workers arrived on time and at least one person was working every day. Since we had a lot of scraping and prep work required to get our old and not-very-recently-painted window frames ready to paint, I felt this was reasonable and acceptable. Once that work was largely complete, a bigger team arrived and painted the frames. The work was completely promptly, and the number of total hours was in line with the estimate. While Wesley was not on site all the time, the workers who were there were pleasant and answered questions and Wesley was there regularly and reported progress to me regularly. He and his staff did a good job, corrected the few minor issues we found (basically, a few missed spots), and did some tasks not included in are original estimate (caulked a window that wasn't being painted, pressure washed some additional walls of the house). We were happy with the work and would use them again.

Wesley and his crew did a fantastic job on my south Philly rowhome. He was on time when he came out to a**** the house and emailed me a quote the next day. He was able to start on short notice. They painted most of the house, sanded down a half-stripped bannister, patched holes and cracks into invisibility and did an incredible job overall. They arrived early in the morning and worked over the weekend and into the evening each night - I was not living in the house at the time - and did the job in 5 or 6 days. I could not have been happier with the job they did and I would hire Wesley again in a second.

The painting job looks fantastic.
The job was posponed because of rain. Wesley always contacted me to ask if I would be alright with the postponement due to weather which of course was fine.
Wesley was very responsive to concerns that I had. He answered all of my questions both before and during the job. There were a few places that were not done to my satisfaction. As soon as I communicated this to Wesley he revisited the area and did more work or explained to me why it was good the way it was.
Wesley did some extra work not on the contract that I did not expect that really made a nice finish. They painted the front grate and bannister. Also I asked if he would varnish a wooden threshold that needed to be coated with the same varnish that was being used on the front door. This was not on the original contract but he did this for me, which I appreciated.
When Wesley and his crew were finished, I asked if he would do a small inside paint job that he had estimated for me at the beginning. He did this and gave me a lower price for this bit of work.
I feel that the entire work was completed based on mutual respect. For example, Wesley spoke to me about rain problems. I was fair to him and in turn when I asked for a reasonable extension of the work (like the threshold, he was willing to consider my needs.

We chose Wesley Neves Painting after five bids. Wesley said that he was licensed and fully insured. He told me later that his license was expired and was being renewed but he never was able to show me his license.  He said he was fully insured and gave me his insurance certificate. He said that any damages caused by his employees would be repaired without cost to us. His bid was several thousand dollars higher than individual painters but he had a full-time carpenter/handyman to do larger repairs needed. The work was discussed in detail and he gave us a proposal for $10,952.00. Wesley did not honor his coupon for 7% off and he refused to take the credit cards listed on Angie's list. He took $200.00 off his initial proposal. He asked for half up front and half when the work was  completed. He wanted the check made out to him personally but we had already made it out to his company. Our house is Victorian and has original windows and almost all of the window sills were capped with aluminum very precisely and carefully decades ago by skilled craftsmen for protection. The aluminum covers are carefully cut and tightly fitted to cover the original wooden sills completely like a skin and are usually repainted and re-caulked every so often to protect the sill area and to keep water from getting into the bricks below. That is how it was done during the last painting job and how every other painter suggested that it be done again this time. There was obvious "dry rot" in some of the wood in various places and Wesley expected to find more rot and included this in his estimate. Repairing most things was not supposed to be an issue because of the full time carpenter/handyman. The house was to be kept clean with furniture moved and window treatments put back and windows painted shut fixed. Three damaged windows were to be repaired, including one which needed the broken chain and weight system fixed.  Wesley had recently finished painting and repairing another house and garage with trim and windows and shutters and many "dormer" windows on the sloped roof. It took four weeks with four workers during the prep, carpentry and priming stage and two painters during the final painting phase. That project went well and Wesley thought our project would take about the same time with the same number of people working. However, Wesley's best and most experienced painter quit before Wesley started my job and he may have also lost other personnel. Our work was delayed by several weeks while Wesley finished another job. The work was started during the second week in October by two "new" guys who said they did not usually work with Wesley. They painted over old uneven paint and we tried to reach Wesley about this but he did not answer. After two days, he came over and said that the work was not acceptable and had to be re-done. He said his usual employees would work for us as soon as they finished another job.  He later sent Rodrigo and Andre. They were both nice and hard-working but did not speak English that well. Andre was 19 and had been painting with Wesley less than a year. Wesley rarely showed up unless we called him.At the end of about 5 or 6 days, he said that he was sick and in the hospital and could not be contacted for several days. I was told that Wesley had had a very experienced and excellent painter who had recently quit and possibly other more experienced painters and he used to spend more time "on the job". Wesley now has  has several crews with new painters. The work done by Andre and Rodrigo was fine but things went slowly.  His painter had to often help his carpenter. Wesley added two other "new" painters after a few days to get the work done more quickly but they got exterior paint on the interior of our window frames and window sills and they damaged our new stucco and Wesley sent them away after one or two days. When Rodrigo took the aluminum cap off one of our window sills. I called Wesley immediately because I did not want the aluminum caps taken off of the sills and had just asked that the wooden "skirts" in front and below the sills be replaced if they were damaged. Wesley said that it was important to take off the capping and that his carpenter would replace all rotted wood with cedar and I would be very happy that this was done, and it was included in his price. When some windows no longer closed correctly, Wesley said that they would sand down the sill or frame--but they never did that. They took off the storm windows frames, which was another thing that the other painters said should not be done. I again called Wesley and he said that it would give better access to the windows. Wesley's crew broke some of the storm windows and some of the storm frames in taking them off and Wesley said they would fix them but they did not.  They broke many window panes and replaced all but one but later charged us to do the repairs. All of the storms and regular windows were supposed to be carefully cleaned but were not. The places where exterior paint had gotten onto the interior of the windows and sills was supposed to be repainted and that work was never completed. Wesley tried to charge me for this as well.  When his crew started to remove the bolted bar grills, I stopped them and called Wesley because I had been told by all of the other painters that they would paint with the grills in place. Wesley said that they could remove and replace the grills without problems.  When they removed them, they damaged the stucco where the bottom of the grills met the stucco. The stucco was also damaged by being hit with ladders and having paint, caulk and "Bondo" dripped on it. It was supposed to be repaired and painted but Wesley later tried to charge me for that also. After ten days, including the work that had to be re-done, Wesley said he had an emergency and was going to Brazil. He asked me to pay his employees while he was gone. We said that the contract was to be paid when the job was completed but he said that he would not do any more work unless we paid more money. We asked for our money back to hire someone else but he would not give it back. He said that the rear would be done in four or five days and the whole job would still be completed and would not go over the original price because the front would be much faster. Wesley said that the back was about 70% of the work.  After a week, the work in the back was not done and we paid his employees $2000 more for time and supplies to repair damages that we were not supposed to pay for. We sent Wesley an e-mail and he said that he was still away and could not take care of these issues.  We then called Wesley on his cell phone using a friend's cell phone. He answered but hung up when he realized who was calling. When his workers came the next week I asked if the work would be done very soon and they said "yes". A friend of mine called Wesley for an estimate and he said he could be there quickly and even "texted" her again so that he could come as soon as possible.  We realized that Wesley was obviously lying about not being in Philadelphia and wondered what was going on. When the work was still not done at the end of the second week, we stopped the work and asked his employees to have Wesley speak to us in person because we knew that Wesley was in Philadelphia and wanted him to honor his contract. Wesley finally called our house on his cell phone but said that he was in Brazil but he would not give us a phone number or address in Brazil.  Later the same day, Wesley's employee, Andre, used Wesley's cell phone multiple times to call us from our yard. We have caller ID so we could see that it was the same phone that Wesley was using. Wesley called later that day and said he was not going to honor our contract. He had found more rotted wood under the aluminum capped window sills than he expected and the repairs from damage by his employees were too expensive. He refused to come talk to us in person. We felt totally "scammed" and lied to and put over a barrel because it was now well into November and the weather in the future was questi

"We did work above and beyond what was in the contract. We fix foundation work that was not on contract. We took the time to remove sill flashing to repair sill itself (she actually told me" i did not have to do it", after I was done. but I did because it was rotten.) that was not in the contract. Mind you, she has twenty seven windows (80% seven feet tall) and we had to replace window pane's she accused us of breaking all of them. I wish I can sit here and write all the things we did for this woman, but I cant because it angers me for the way she treating us. So please if you can, stop by the job site and see for yourself the work I have done. I have been there working for so long, the woman was very nice to us and all of a sudden this is what we get for all that hard work. Yes she did give us payments, but what was done was more than what she and i originally agreed on....I trusted her and did eveything she wanted...assuming she was gonna reimbursed for the time...but that is not the case. I I wish there is a site to rate customers because she would be on top of the list for people to NOT work for."

On September 15, 2011, Wesley Neves gave me an estimate of $2,000 to paint the exterior trim on our house, and told me that he would start the job on October 3. He ended up starting on Wednesday, October 5, because we had a couple of rainy days early that week, and I assume that he was running late on some other jobs.

On the first day of the project, which was Wednesday (10/5/11), Wesley Neves failed to show up at the appointed hour, while I sat there, missing time from work, waiting for him. Eventually, I could wait no longer and left for work. Someone working for Wesley showed up later that day, and started doing some preliminary work. Wesley himself showed up at the end of the day, and collected a check for 1/2 of the total estimate ($1,000, subsequently refunded). Wesley also assured me that the project would be completed by Friday, or Saturday at the latest.

The next day after receiving my deposit, which was a beautiful, sunny Thursday, no one showed up to work on the project. The following day, Friday, one employee came, worked a few hours, and did a really poor job. The following day, Saturday, again there was no word from either Wesley or anyone working for him.

I called Wesley to find out what had happened to him. Wesley told me that they could not work the last 3 days because it was wet. (In fact, we had had unseasonably warm, sunny weather, with not one drop of rain.) When I expressed unhappiness about the failure to make satisfactory progress on the job, and the fact that the little bit of work that had been done was of low quality, Wesley took offense, showed up at my house, and returned my deposit to me, leaving me with an undone job, and the loss of a month of time, as we gradually run out of acceptable weather for outdoor painting.

"I always give a chance for the customer to say what they have issues with, now, you can read my side of the story. The job estimate is for $2000.00 (four days worth of work) I was to scrape, power wash and prime. My helper started on wednesday scraping and the powerwash. The owner saw the prep process and did not have issues. I told him to wait a day before we can proceed with painting because the wood was wet and soaked and need to dry. (no work thursday)So we did go back to work friday morning. My helper and i met at paint store early in morning to buy materials and then headed to his property. Its about an hour ride. He primed all the areas needed to be primed and then he started to paint the front of house and did that work until about 4pm. My helper reported to me that evening that things went well, so I assume were gonna meet up monday to continue the job. Saturday morning around 830am I got a message from the customer wondering why we were not there saturday! He proceeded to say nasty words, accusing me of stealing his money, and threatened to call police because he wanted his money back. Remember that this message was on saturday morning!!! He did not even try to talk to me first and explain why he was mad, he outright just left nasty message. I was very troubled and upset to get the message...I immediately called my helper why the customer was so mad...he could not tell me anything. I try to call the customer back, right away but he did not answer...so I immediately drop what I was doing, (had to cancel trip to mall with my wife and son) and went to the job site. When I saw him, the only words that came out of him mouth was "can I get my check back?" did not even explain to me why he was so mad. I gave him cash and he gave me receipt for the money returned. I gave the man his money back because I felt very bad. Now looking back, I was just set up to do something for free. I took a big loss to pay my helper, the materials used and time spent to go there and do estimate. It bothers me that he gave my price a C but still took me in to do the job. Now he has two days worth of work done for free. You be the judge. After all the time spent, I dont have a penny from him."

Wesley was right on time for the estimate and provided me an email contract within a couple days.  He planned on using great paint (Benjamin Moore) and his price was very good.  Based on Angie's List reviews, I went ahead.  I was not disappointed.  He did an amazing job.  We had the ceilings painted flat white, the trim/moldings painted a semi-gloss white, and the walls got 2 coats of eggshell in 5 different colors.  The detail and quality Wesley provided was meticulous.  The place looks gorgeous.

I found Wesley Neves through Angie's List and received a follow up email from him.  I got three quotes, all of which were in the same price range, and I went with him because he seemed concerned about doing everything to our satisfaction.  He was also willing to replace rotted wood.  One of our big concerns was lead paint remediation, and he is certified in dealing with lead paint issues.  He gave me referral names, both of whom gave him good a good reference.

Wesley is a very good listener, and I felt confident in the progress he was making.  He said that the project would take 3 1/2 weeks, which it did if you don't count the excessive heat days.  During the time that he was working on our house, he also painted part our neighbor's house.

He has a crew of about 4 guys, and during the prep everyone was working on the house.  During the painting phase, there were generally 2-3 people working at one time.  He had a really good person working with him named Joao, who we appreciated very much.

Paint samples can often not be as you'd expect.  Wesley was willing to paint several windows with different color combinations so that we could be satisfied with the outcome.

Wesley's crew was very organized and efficient. And at the end of the project, they were thorough about cleaning the windows, and making sure that windows were operational.  When we found some windows that had been painted shut, he addressed this before leaving the last day.

From the very beginning, Wesley was prompt and professional.  After finding his listing on Angie's List, I sent him an email and received a phone call about an hour after.  We set up an appointment later that week to look at the job.  We weren't sure if we wanted to remove the wall paper prior to painting or not, so when he emailed me with the estimate, a couple days later, it included an estimate with and without wall paper removal.  The estimate was very professional and detailed as to what was included in the price.  After we agreed on the price, we set a start date and an ending date, which was right on.   Wesley called the day before to confirm he would be coming at 9:15 the next morning.  Every day that Wesley and his crew were here, they went at the job whole-heartedly.  They were very diligent with covering furniture and floors.  When they were finished for the day, they cleaned up and moved all furniture back in place as if they were never there.  At one point, when I was selecting the paint color, I wasn't sure what color to go with and he went to the paint store to pick up several samples for us to try on different walls.  I've had my share of bad experiences with contractors and this was not one of them.  In fact, this goes down as one of the best experiences my husband and I have had with a contractor.  Wesley produced top quality work and I would HIGHLY recommend him to my family and friends.

Thanks Wesley, Gerome, Andre and Rodrigo!!!

Wesley prepared a e-mail contract that addressed all of my concerns. They started the job a day after expected because of rain and worked like no one I have ever seen. Their days were long and they finished one day earlier than promised. This has to be the best contractor experience that I have ever had. Delightful people to deal with doing more than what I expected. I have been in my home for 20 years and this is the fourth paint job and without a doubt the very best. Even my dog liked the guys (and he is very picky)!

Wesley is courteous, responsible and hard-working. Communication is excellent: he is available and responsive by phone, text and email. If he says he will call, he does. If he says he will be there, he will. If he can't come as scheduled, you can count on being notified. His price was very competitive, especially with moving furniture and other items included. The job went very well. The house, deck and fence were washed the first day. There was a LOT of stuff on the deck that we had not removed in time, but the workman carefully moved everything out of the way.The next day the deck was prepped the old-fashioned way: scraped and sanded by hand, which was a big job as it was long overdue. Wesley was very careful and patient about color choice. He will make as many trips and bring as many samples (real paint, not those little cards) as necessary until you have it right. The deck was gorgeous when finished. Drop cloths were used carefully, and the work was done neatly and with care. The job as originally agreed was excellent. It became clear, though, that the fence had to be painted too. Wesley graciously accommodated us, but it was a stretch for him because was very busy. We agreed on the price and he bought the paint. He estimated one coat would do, but when that was done I asked him to look it over. We agreed a second coat was necessary and he did not charge for the additional paint. However, the added- on work was not done as carefully as the original job. I had to point out a lot of touching up, and Wesley made sure it was done. The only real problem was that the painter (using a sprayer) got a fair amount of paint on the grass along the fence (drop cloth ? not sure, I was not home). and most of a small rhododendron, and some other plants appeared to have been accidentally sprayed. That said, I highly recommend Wesley Neves. He is responsive, and accountable. He is very fair, and his price was excellent. The quality of the work was excellent too, though if you find there is more to be done, it might be worth scheduling it as a separate job.

The cost was more than reasonable, and their attitude was always to please me and do the best job possible. Wesley used only oil based paint, so the job would last, and there was obvious pride in the finished product. If every contractor did thorough and excellent work like Wesley's men, there would be no need for Angie?s List.
