"I would like to emphatically report that this report is completely untrue in every way. Because I was very busy, I suggested the member use a trusted friend and excellent, experienced painter, Mr. Anderson, who did an excellent job. There are photographs which clearly demonstrate the excellence of his final job. However, I had no other formal involvement in this job, as a sub-contractor or in any other way. The member paid the final $2000, to Anderson which would hardly have been paid for an inferior job. In fact, he even asked Mr. Anderson to do another job on his ceiling, requiring another $3,500 of work. After this additional work was completed, the member then made a claim about Mr. Anderson’s behavior, I also have no reason to believe that Mr. Anderson would damage the walls he had already completed, a claim that defies logic except as a possible intent of claiming against my insurance, though I was not involved in the job. By the way, the person on the ladder pictured on my website is me, not Mr. Anderson as his message claims. No one who cares about quality work, honesty and concern about customers likes to have a poor review. However, since this report is based on untruths for no other imaginable reason than possible financial gain, I hope that those searching for an honest painter will consider the other reviews by those with intention to pay for an excellent job"
The job was posponed because of rain. Wesley always contacted me to ask if I would be alright with the postponement due to weather which of course was fine.
Wesley was very responsive to concerns that I had. He answered all of my questions both before and during the job. There were a few places that were not done to my satisfaction. As soon as I communicated this to Wesley he revisited the area and did more work or explained to me why it was good the way it was.
Wesley did some extra work not on the contract that I did not expect that really made a nice finish. They painted the front grate and bannister. Also I asked if he would varnish a wooden threshold that needed to be coated with the same varnish that was being used on the front door. This was not on the original contract but he did this for me, which I appreciated.
When Wesley and his crew were finished, I asked if he would do a small inside paint job that he had estimated for me at the beginning. He did this and gave me a lower price for this bit of work.
I feel that the entire work was completed based on mutual respect. For example, Wesley spoke to me about rain problems. I was fair to him and in turn when I asked for a reasonable extension of the work (like the threshold, he was willing to consider my needs.

"We did work above and beyond what was in the contract. We fix foundation work that was not on contract. We took the time to remove sill flashing to repair sill itself (she actually told me" i did not have to do it", after I was done. but I did because it was rotten.) that was not in the contract. Mind you, she has twenty seven windows (80% seven feet tall) and we had to replace window pane's she accused us of breaking all of them. I wish I can sit here and write all the things we did for this woman, but I cant because it angers me for the way she treating us. So please if you can, stop by the job site and see for yourself the work I have done. I have been there working for so long, the woman was very nice to us and all of a sudden this is what we get for all that hard work. Yes she did give us payments, but what was done was more than what she and i originally agreed on....I trusted her and did eveything she wanted...assuming she was gonna reimbursed for the time...but that is not the case. I I wish there is a site to rate customers because she would be on top of the list for people to NOT work for."
On the first day of the project, which was Wednesday (10/5/11), Wesley Neves failed to show up at the appointed hour, while I sat there, missing time from work, waiting for him. Eventually, I could wait no longer and left for work. Someone working for Wesley showed up later that day, and started doing some preliminary work. Wesley himself showed up at the end of the day, and collected a check for 1/2 of the total estimate ($1,000, subsequently refunded). Wesley also assured me that the project would be completed by Friday, or Saturday at the latest.
The next day after receiving my deposit, which was a beautiful, sunny Thursday, no one showed up to work on the project. The following day, Friday, one employee came, worked a few hours, and did a really poor job. The following day, Saturday, again there was no word from either Wesley or anyone working for him.
I called Wesley to find out what had happened to him. Wesley told me that they could not work the last 3 days because it was wet. (In fact, we had had unseasonably warm, sunny weather, with not one drop of rain.) When I expressed unhappiness about the failure to make satisfactory progress on the job, and the fact that the little bit of work that had been done was of low quality, Wesley took offense, showed up at my house, and returned my deposit to me, leaving me with an undone job, and the loss of a month of time, as we gradually run out of acceptable weather for outdoor painting.
"I always give a chance for the customer to say what they have issues with, now, you can read my side of the story. The job estimate is for $2000.00 (four days worth of work) I was to scrape, power wash and prime. My helper started on wednesday scraping and the powerwash. The owner saw the prep process and did not have issues. I told him to wait a day before we can proceed with painting because the wood was wet and soaked and need to dry. (no work thursday)So we did go back to work friday morning. My helper and i met at paint store early in morning to buy materials and then headed to his property. Its about an hour ride. He primed all the areas needed to be primed and then he started to paint the front of house and did that work until about 4pm. My helper reported to me that evening that things went well, so I assume were gonna meet up monday to continue the job. Saturday morning around 830am I got a message from the customer wondering why we were not there saturday! He proceeded to say nasty words, accusing me of stealing his money, and threatened to call police because he wanted his money back. Remember that this message was on saturday morning!!! He did not even try to talk to me first and explain why he was mad, he outright just left nasty message. I was very troubled and upset to get the message...I immediately called my helper why the customer was so mad...he could not tell me anything. I try to call the customer back, right away but he did not answer...so I immediately drop what I was doing, (had to cancel trip to mall with my wife and son) and went to the job site. When I saw him, the only words that came out of him mouth was "can I get my check back?" did not even explain to me why he was so mad. I gave him cash and he gave me receipt for the money returned. I gave the man his money back because I felt very bad. Now looking back, I was just set up to do something for free. I took a big loss to pay my helper, the materials used and time spent to go there and do estimate. It bothers me that he gave my price a C but still took me in to do the job. Now he has two days worth of work done for free. You be the judge. After all the time spent, I dont have a penny from him."
Wesley is a very good listener, and I felt confident in the progress he was making. He said that the project would take 3 1/2 weeks, which it did if you don't count the excessive heat days. During the time that he was working on our house, he also painted part our neighbor's house.
He has a crew of about 4 guys, and during the prep everyone was working on the house. During the painting phase, there were generally 2-3 people working at one time. He had a really good person working with him named Joao, who we appreciated very much.
Paint samples can often not be as you'd expect. Wesley was willing to paint several windows with different color combinations so that we could be satisfied with the outcome.
Wesley's crew was very organized and efficient. And at the end of the project, they were thorough about cleaning the windows, and making sure that windows were operational. When we found some windows that had been painted shut, he addressed this before leaving the last day.
"Thank you very much. Sencerily Wesley Neves"
Thanks Wesley, Gerome, Andre and Rodrigo!!!
