ValueGuard Home Inspection

Micheal Kelley was our inspector. He was quite knowledgeable and helped us understand a lot of aspects of our new construction home for which we hired Valueguard. Micheal was courteous and tried his best to answer our questions. He could not answer a couple of questions I had about the electricals and some other stuff as it was considered to be out of scope from an inspection point of view but I felt that just from an education point of view, he should have known from his long experience. The inspection went on for around 3+ hours and I felt that towards the end, he was in a bit of hurry to finish it. Not that he didnt complete his job and reviewed every aspect of the house but I couldn't ask him some more questions that I wanted to as I got a feeling of hurry. But, maybe that's just me and it wasn't like that. Cant say for sure. The price was reasonable. I wont say exactly the cheapest but acceptable. The review report that they provided was quite detailed and summarized all the findings that Michael talked to us during the inspection.

They are very detailed and helpful to the buyer. It was a good experience.

We were amazed at the thoroughness of the work performed and the report. This was the first inspection we had ever been through and were not sure what to expect. We were blown away by the professionalism, the final report and the inspectors willingness to have a follow up call with us to discuss a few items int he report.

Little background, I have had approximately 4 home inspections done by different companies in the past 7 years. (moving homes, investment property). I felt the previous inspection company I used was not as thorough as I wanted so I decided to try something. On a recommendation from a friend, I tried Valueguard. That being said, I am 100% satisfied with Valueguard. Dave Konow was the inspector and he did a great job. He was there on time and actually started early before I got there. He was thorough throughout the entire process. He was also very knowledgeable. Being familiar with home inspections and renovation, I am familiar with many terms and issues in homes. Dave had a firm grasp on everything. He was personable and friendly and took the time to explain and answer any question we had. The report was delivered in 36 hours. Again, great experience and I would recommend the company and Dave in the future.

Mike was our inspector and he was wonderful and very thorough, I would recommend him to anyone!

It has been months since we purchased our home and I have been meaning to write a review about our wonderful experience with ValueGuard. Back in April while negotiating the purchase of our home we had Mike Bluestein from ValueGuard as our inspector. Mike was wonderful! He was knowledgeable, thorough, friendly and patient. We encountered a lot of odd things during the inspection (like angry home owner's and birds in the heating system) but he kept his composure through the entire 3 hours he spent inspecting the home and uncovered some issues that needed to be addressed immediately as well as some not so urgent repairs. This was a very large and very old home that hadn't been especially well cared for: Mike indicated everything down to the smallest details that needed to be addressed. You're probably wondering why we bought the house! Thanks to Mike?s detailed report (Which listed things in order from serious issue to minor defect), we were able to negotiate the price down significantly. I was even able to call Mike directly during and after the negotiating process to ask questions about the report and the home. We were able to fix everything seriously unsafe before moving in but still reference the report now and then when we have free time and are looking for the next item that needs to be repaired. ValueGuard was pleasant to work with throughout the whole process. Booking the appointment was easy and they fit me in right away, Mike was very informative during the inspection, and the report they sent was clear, concise, detailed and arrived on time. Not to mention their prices were reasonable for exceptional service. I now know everything I need to know about our house and am grateful for Mike's expertise.

David showed up on time and had already started assessing the home before I got there, he did not mind me staying by his side throughout the inspection and learning from him. He checked out the house to the best of ability short of invasive inspection, we crawled into the attic space in 90 F heat to check things out and he was very patient in explaining what we were looking for and what potential issues to watch out for in the long run based on condition of the house. I am rating their responsiveness a B because despite the great in person experience I had tried to call the inspector the following day and left a message but never heard back on a follow up question.

Reid was on time and very willing to explain everything he was doing in layman's terms. He did not make us feel hurried. The report I received was comprehensive and included photos as well as estimates for cost of repairs. Would definitely recommend ValueGuard to others. Cost listed includes radon and termite testing as well as home inspection.

There was an expected snag, but the company worked very worked to be sure I was pleased. The office staff and agent who came to my home were both were customer service oriented.

They are very professional. I have no complaints about them. They were on time, and they are a very big company, so they have many contractors to work with them, so they arrived on time, and they checked all the details. They told me that the house needed extra things, and that is why I walked away from the house. The realtor had told us about the things, but after the inspection, we realized it was too much for us, because of the structure needed to be engineered. I worked with them twice. They were very good. The inspector was critical about things.

I actually had 2 inspections. The first one failed, and I decided to get out of the agreement. Cory was excellent and thorough on that property. I don't think he misses a spot on the floor. I actually re-used their services again when I put an agreement in on another property. David was perhaps a bit quicker, but there wasn't as much to look at for sure. He was patient with explanations and a follow - up phone call which was extremely helpful in deciding course to follow. He was equally thorough on his inspection, but like I said, it was a smaller, and much cleaner, home. He took notes and details where they were needed. Very pleased with the quality of inspectors Value Guard uses. Would use them again (but I hope I don't have to!)

Mike Kelley did a phenomenal job inspecting my new construction home. My builder had their own inspection of the house, but Mike found many issues that they either didn't check or they looked over. The builders said they will work on fixing all those issues he found. This is an excellent company and I received great service, I highly recommend them.

The service from this company is top notch. The inspector, Mike Kelley, was so nice and helpful. He will take the time to explain to me what he was doing and if something is wrong, he will point that out to me. He did the inspection as if he is the buyer. The most impressive part is that he will take time out of his vacation day and reply to my phone call. Thank you so much for the great service.

Ttim was on time, professional an thorough!. He did find a small infestation and damage in the front door sill in the crawl space. He inspected for damage and gave not only a recommendation but also an estimate of how much it would cost to remediate the problem. As well as treating the whole house in case there were termites else where. All very reasonable prices.

Mike, our inspector, was extremely thorough and walked us through the inspection process. He went over the house from bottom to top and found several issues that needed to be addressed. He made sure to let us know which needed immediate attention and which we could put off for a bit.

Our inspection went very well! I brought along my uncle, who is a general contractor, to make sure I knew all the right things to ask about and look for. The inspector was thorough, took great pictures, and talked me through each area of concern on the inspection(and some areas that were great!) He also threw in a few other home ownership tidbits that have been helpful as a first time home owner. Overall I was very pleased and we would definitely use them if we ever needed again.

Spoke with Shelly on the phone - she was both very knowledgeable and pleasant, was able to accommodate my need for a quick inspection turnaround. Mike Kelly was my inspector, he showed up almost exactly 15 minutes early and began gathering his equipment and materials needed for the inspection. Mike was outstanding! He conducted a very thorough inspection which included two trips around the perimeter - detailed inspection of both the home and the surrounding grounds. Next, Mike climbed up on top of the roof and inspected the roof, fascia, rake, gutters and flashing around the chimney - he came back down from the roof with pictures and detailed descriptions of his findings. Inside the home, Mike continued with his deep dive of the home's systems where he pointed out a variety of concerns/items to watch and basically upgraded my level of knowledge of both this home and home preventative maintenance in general. Mike continued through every room - where he opened every single window, cabinet / drawer, door - operated every light fixture and tested each power outlet. I'm telling you - Mike inspected the home like HE was buying the home. I could go on and on - the BOTTOM LINE -> thoroughly impressed with MIke's level of knowledge, ValueGuard's customer service and the prompt service (final report received the next day).

With the initial phone call I spoke to Shelly, one of the owners. She was helpful, organized, and charming. At a later point Diane, who also answers the phone, was kind enough to explain how a radon test is conducted, even though they were not the ones to be doing it. How kind is that? My inspector, Mike Bluestein was fantastic. He walked and talked me through all the parts of the house. He gave me superb advice on care and repairs, and upgrades in the future. Afterwards I was sent a wonderful detailed report with pictures, extremely useful. And it is clear why everyone who uses ValueGuard loves them. They are the best.

I should have written this review a couple months ago and probable will have another review but better late than never. I set up home and termite inspections along with a radon test as a first time home buyer with ValueGuard. I was very impressed when talking with them on the phone to get an estimate and answer questions as this was my first inspection as well. I was able to schedule an inspection on Friday for the following Wednesday were they started the radon test on Monday. Unfortunately after finding a discrepancy with the discloser and questioning the seller and agent we had to walk away from the deal the day before the inspections. The radon test already started so we had to pay for that and got the full report back with all the details. ValueGuard was very helpful when canceling our inspections along with offering us a little break on the next time we schedule an inspection with them. We will be using ValueGuard when we find another house. Price only reflects radon test.

Service was okay... we previously had a provider that wrote up and printed the inspection while we waited - maybe 10 minutes... this service was prompt because we had a deadline to make so they went out of their way to get it to us the Monday after the inspection... inspection was thorough and they provided a pretty good report, again not as quick as the previous service and the report seemed more comprehensive... the homeowner complained about the state the home was left, so I guess the inspector didn't lock up completely and left some things askew... other than the unlocked door everything else was a non-issue...

I hired ValueGuard previously for another house inspection for a deal that thankfully didn't go through. The inspection caught some serious structural issues that we were happy to walk away from. On the second inspection, this time a different and far more well-kept house, ValueGuard did another great job. I requeted Reid for both inspections because he was extremely personable, patient and informative as I asked many questions. I'd hire him again, even though I hope don't have to (at least anytime soon)!

I scheduled our appointment four days prior, then had to reschedule due to a snow storm. I called to reschedule on Tuesday (originally scheduled for Thursday) and they even offered to do it the very next day for me. Michael Kelley arrived on time and was very helpful and informative. We were told the inspection would take 2-2.5 hours for our 1100 sq foot home, but Mike spent almost 3.5-4 hours going through everything with a fine tooth comb. He was extremely thorough. He walked around the exterior twice and all around the roof, climbed into all crawl spaces and the attic, and tested everything. He even opened up the thermostats on the water heater to see what they were set at and to see if it was set properly. His report was extremely thorough, complete with pictures, and was delivered in less than 18 hours. He pointed out problems that need to be fixed, suggestions on how to improve things, and every potential safety hazard. Overall, I was quite impressed with Mike & ValueGuard, and I would definitely hire them again in the future.

Very informative, helpful, detailed. All questions were answered and additional information was given to make a positive decision in becoming a home owner.
