It went very well. The inspector arrived early, actually, and spent about 2 1/2 hours inspecting the house. He answered my questions, provided suggestions for solutions, and generally gave me good insight as to how to proceed. He updated me as the inspection proceeded (I walked with him so that I could see first hand what he saw, and to ask questions), so that I was not surprised when I received the report. I did receive the report promptly (about 2 days after the inspection - on the day after the inspection there was a significant snow storm which resulted in many business closings). The report was detailed and well organized.

They conducted a thorough inspection and provide me with a detail report within a few days. The inspector was friendly and answered my questions as we went through the house.

If I could go above A, I would. Mike was the most professional, nicest, knowledgeable guy that I have come across in any line of business. He spent almost four hours in the home with us, going over everything and answering any questions that we might have had. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

Michael Kelley helped us with the home inspection. He is very professional and patient. We are first time buyers and we learned a lot from him. He looked at every corner of the house, told us every places that needs potential repair, even a minor one. We are very satisfied with his inspection. And the report arrived the next day morning, which is very efficient and also very comprehensive. Even though the price is a little high, we think it is worth the cost to get a comfortable home inspection.

It went well. My only issue was the initial report that came through was missing 'price to replace/repair' information which is critical for any home inspection.

All people involved were knowledgeable, punctual, and eager to answer any of my litany of questions. Would use them again and recommend them to my friends.

I got my report the next day. It was really thorough. I just know that you pay for what you get for. It was worth the price but it was a little higher than the other ones I have looked at.

On the positive side, the inspector was on time, very pleasant and fairly thorough. He answered all my questions. On the negative side, he should have run the faucets for a longer period of time. Upon moving in, there was a leak under the kitchen sink that emptied a large puddle onto the floor. Also, the seller had a question about one of the points made about the home's exterior.I called Valueguard and the representative gave me the cell phone number of the inspector. I called and left a message, but the inspector never got back to me. That was disappointing.

Steve Haslan was so thorough that he saved me from buying a just-finished rehab that looked beautiful on the outside but already needed $10,000 worth of repairs on the inside. If it weren't for him, I would have made a big mistake!

Michael Kelley and Value Guard saved me loads of cash and plenty of headaches!! Micheal was extremely friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. I wouldn't imagine using another home inspection company. As a result of his inspection, I was able to make an informed decision and not move forward with the sale. I would have purchased a dangerous money pit, had it not been for the attention to detail and expertise of Value Guard. I will be using them again for another upcoming inspection.

Dave did a very thorough inspection. He was polite and answered all my questions.

I generally don't write reviews but this was such a stellar experience I feel I have to. ValueGuard made this process as painless as possible. I sent one e-mail asking for pricing and availability and it was immediately responded to. One phone call and we were scheduled on the date of my choosing. I was told in advance that my inspector would be Michael Kelley and I also received confirmation and reminder e-mail's. (Excellent customer service) The day of the inspection, Michael beat my realtor and me to the property despite us arriving a couple of minutes early. He was already pacing the driveway eyeballing the guttering. He was professional and extremely approachable/friendly. (Just a nice guy in general) He introduced himself and immediately explained the process and the order in which it would take place. He clarified what was looked at and what was not and why. He made it very simple to understand. Once that was concluded he was off. IN the blink of an eye he was up a ladder and on the second floor. I had a brief conversation with my realtor and looked up again and he was on the third floor roof examining the chimney. The man must be part mountain goat because he was all over that roof and appeared perfectly at ease and sure footed. The inspection of the house was fascinating. Michael was a wealth of information and answered numerous questions. It seemed like he had the ability to be in two places at once as he went all over the house. He was thorough and critical (in a good way) I learned a lot about heating systems and the piping in the basement. Mike should teach a class... Mike identified one major area of concern with settlement and recommended an independent inspection/consultation with a Structural Engineer. (Advice I followed that week and I am glad I did!) Once the inspection was concluded (about two and a half hours for a three story 3,500+ square foot house plus basement) Michael verbally reiterated what he had pointed out during the inspection and advised that these items would be included in the report. Then he was off to the next job. The 30 something page report was e-mailed to me the next day. (!!!) I was stunned. Truly impressed with Michael, ValueGuard, the whole experience. I cannot recommend these guys enough. They are the ONLY inspection service I will recommend or use from here on out. Worth. Every. Penny PS - I found out after the appointment that ValueGuard is the company that my realtor's firm (Big chain) recommends and uses. Total coincidence as I had found them myself through Angie's list. I think it's a good sign that a National Realty company uses them for all inspections in this region. PPS - Note that my cost was not typical. The property I was having inspected was a large, three story twin built in or around 1895. There was a flat roof, second floor roofing and a detached garage. For this reason, my costs were higher than the typical $350-$400 inspection. The website explains this clearly and outlines what factors might cost more. Again - worth every single penny.

Michael Kelley was our home inspector and he did a fantastic job! He was very professional, punctual, and informative through the whole process. He took his time and paid great attention to every aspect of the inspection from large to small areas/details. As first time home buyers he gave us a lot of information along the way that was helpful for us to hear first hand. He also climbed up on our roof (which was no easy feat) as we had been concerned about the condition of the roof since no information was provided in the sellers disclosure. Sure enough, there were some issues to address - so we are pleased he was able to make that happen. The service we received from the main office was also prompt and efficient and we were very pleased with our overall experience. The price was also competitive with other vendors in the area (as they all seemed to be relatively the same cost - within $50 of one another.)

The home inspector and termite inspector both arrived on time for the scheduled inspection. I received a detailed report after the inspection and was able to bring the findings to the attention of the sellers who graciously fixed nearly every issue that was found. However, there were several major issues that were not discovered during the inspection that should have been found. The first issue is a large carpenter bee infestation in the rear deck of the home that I had to have treated the first week of moving in. There were no bees present during the inspection because it was a colder day still, but simple looking under the deck it is riddled with holes from the bees. The next issue was a leak in the up stairs bathroom. The inspector ran the tub, but did not pull the shower inverter. The tub spout was installed incorrectly and when the shower inverter was pulled it would cause water to shoot back towards the shower wall. This caused a leak that damaged a brand new paint job downstairs. This was another issue that was easily visibly detectable. The most costly issue is that there is a leaking coming from the roof into the attic. I had a roofer come out to give an estimate he asked if we had a home inspection and when we said yes he said he had no idea how the roof problem was missed as he could basically put his hand through the flat roof. I emailed ValueGuard to express my concerns 11 days ago and at the time of writing this have not received any reply back from them.

He spent over 2 hours taking pictures and explaining things that need repair or maintenance, as well as any safety issues or major concerns. He was very thorough in his inspection and very knowledgeable. He was a really friendly guy and got our report to us within 16 hours of the inspection! Wow!

Contacted ValueGuard, and they worked with Me, the homeowners, and my realtor to setup the inspections. Arrived early to do a visual inspection of the outside. Once we were given access to the house, Mike performed a thorough inspection of the house. He had no issues with me following him and asking questions about anything I saw. A thorough report was sent to me and my agent within a few days of the inspection (complete with pictures of any issues he identified).

It went great. I'm very satisfied. Definitely worth it.

Inspector was on time. He was very patient with all of our questions and answered them well. He pointed out a lot of things we would never have noticed. He was very thorough despite the rain and even took a walk on the roof. Would definitely use them again.

The owner forgot to leave the keys and we had to wait an hour to get inside the house. The inspector was patient until all was sorted. The inspection was thorough and the digital presentation of the inspection was easy to read and informative.

From the moment I contacted ValueGuard, it was wonderful experience. Shelly provided excellent customer service as she walked me through the process and scheduled the inspection. She provided details and paperwork via email and contacted my buying agent asap to get her in the loop for access to the home I am planning to purchase. Home inspector thoroughly surveyed my soon-to-be new home for 2-2.5hrs. I feel as though he was informative and professional. I did notice one spot that Mike did not while in the basement. The ceiling has a small, rectangular hole where knob and tube wiring is lurking, but otherwise, the process alerted me to several serious issues, some cosmetic non issues, and a few things, as a home owner, I will have to address in due time. From the first phone call until the beautifully compiled report, it was a dream working with ValueGuard Home Inspection. Highly and enthusiastically recommend.
