The inspection went very well - Reid, our associate, did an excellent job explaining everything as we went through the house, and answering our questions. The report we received was very detailed - everything broken down and pictures included to further explain any issues. Although we have work to do, we were very pleased with how things went.

Mike Kelly was on time and extremely professional. Mike was thorough and took the time to answer my many questions. His report was very detailed and his experience put me at ease. At the same time Randall Getzoff performed the pest inspection, and also provided a great report. I really appreciated his knowledge and thoughtful answers to my questions as well. I highly recommend Valueguard for their timeliness and professionalism!

Our Home Inspector Robert was extremely knowledgeable and very meticulous in his inspection of a home that we were in the process of purchasing. He spent three hours going over every inch of the property from basement to roof pointing out various items that should be addressed. He subsequently provided a detailed written report the next day which included photos of the potential problem areas. Robert was very professional and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is considering the purchase of a home.

Reid was super knowledgeable about all the details of the house and easy to talk to and ask questions. As a first time home buyer, I appreciated his patience and willingness to answer my questions even a week after the inspection. All around the ValueGuard team was very responsive and professional. My inspector was awesome. We had to move the inspection date two times and they were extremely accommodating. He was thorough and friendly. I was assured that I could ask him anything or go over whatever concerns I had. Convenient scheduling and payment. Very thorough

This was our fourth pre-purchase inspection with Valueguard (third with Mike Kelly). Valueguard inspectors have a deep understandIng of unique issues of old Philly houses and are very thorough! Their inspections take a little longer and cost slightly more, but they more than pay for themselves when buying an older Philly home! You can proceed with full confidence that you have a clear understanding of all the issues.

This was my second time working with Mike Kelley as the home inspector. Mike is friendly, knowledgeable, and very thorough in conducting the inspection. ValueGaurd also sent two separate inspectors to complete the Wood Infestation and Radon Inspection. Everyone was there on time and the work was completed as expected.

Mike Kelley from ValueGuard did a really excellent job with our home inspection. We were buying an older home and knew it needed 'a little work'. However, the scope of issues found was astounding. Windows, doors, roof, water infiltration, etc. we quickly realized that it would take months/years to fix the major issues and a whole lot of cash. Everything was well documented and photographed in the report. The report even included some repair price estimates and, while these weren't a substitute for professional estimates, they helped us know if it was a $100 problem or $1000 problem. Will definitely use again and highly recommend.

The inspector was very personable, knowledgeable, and professional, my issues with Valueguard were the price, and level of detail in the final report. I have used other home inspection companies before and I found Value Guard to be overpriced. Similar services have cost me over $100 less with other companies I have used in the past. The report that value guard sent me was detailed, however estimated costs for repairs were only specified for about two thirds of the issues noted on the report. For the price of the inspection I was disappointed that Value Guard did not give estimated costs for all the major issues identified on the report they sent me.

Went really well. Inspector was very thorough, wasn't afraid to question things, and took the time to educate me throughout the process.

During the inspection, the inspector was pleasant to work with. But, he missed a crack in the basement wall which we found out only after the settlement. It was in a location which shouldn’t have been missed. So felt real bad about it, after seeing it. After contacting Valueguard team, they were prompt in issuing refund and resolving the issues.

As a first time home buyer I was very overwhelmed trying to find the perfect inspector. With a number of companies online and so many reviews, I wasn't sure what to do. A co-worker then highly recommended Value Guard, and specifically Steven Haslam. I looked him up online, and after noticing all the great reviews, I knew he'd be my guy. I called Value Guard and sat up the appointment to have Steven inspect my potential new home. I had to wait a few days because he was booked, but I was willing to wait for the right inspector. I'm glad I did! WOW! He provided unparalleled customer service!! He was such a PLEASURE to deal with, and he made the entire experience a fun one. He was super patient, polite, nice, and didn't mind me asking a ton of annoying questions. He'd always ask upon inspecting each area, if I had any questions before moving on to the next area. What can I say, he was amazing! I couldn't be happier with the inspector I picked. He arrived to the home inspection on time, and didn't rush me through the process at all. He took his time going through the entire house and answering all my question. He was hyper thorough too, which I truly appreciated. Upon finishing the inspection, he offered to answer any follow up questions that I may have. Every time I've had a question regarding any of the items he mentioned on his report, he's always answered nicely, patiently, and in a timely fashion. I totally recommend Steven Haslam for your home inspection. He is an awesome inspector who provides second-to-none customer service.

Mike Kelley inspected our home for a potential buyer. We had a custom built in entertainment center in the basement that had an access panel to the main water shut off. Instead of using the panel, Mike ripped the entire entertainment center from the wall! Pulled off the trim, paint, caulk, some pieces of wood and everything else that it was attached to. A carpenter would be needed to repair the damage. Repeated calls to his office have gone unreturned. Own up to your mistake, Mike. Bad enough that we have no control over who comes into our house as we're selling it and now we have damage from someone that we didn't even hire. Use caution with this guy.....total weasel move not returning calls and owning up to a mistake and offering to pay for the damages.

ValueGuard was able to schedule an appointment quickly and did a very thorough inspection. They did a very good job and took pictures of everything along the way, making the negotiation process simpler.

The inspector arrived several minutes early and educated my wife and I about the home inspection process. Once the inspection began he explained what he was doing each step of the way, specifically what he was looking for/at. He provided real-time feedback on what he saw and also provided helpful tips as to what was in good shape, what we should budget for repair in the future and what needed to be repaired now. The inspector requested we obtain specialized inspections on certain systems of the house he was not an expert in and thought something may be off (e.g., chimney, burner/blower of furnace). A detailed inspection report was provided 2 days after the inspection concluded.

Thorough inspection report received the next day. Also paid for and received a radon inspection.

The inspector arrived early and was able to walk us through the home and point out all possible problems. Within 48 hours we received a full report on the home, radon test, and termite inspection.

I was very happy with the home inspection and in particular the individual who did the inspection - Mike Kelly. He was very thorough and seemed very knowledgeable about the workings of a 100 year old house. He found plenty of issues and was good at pointing out which issues might be major and we should definitely investigate further and which issues were less critical. Potential solutions to a lot of what he found were also offered. My realtor cautioned me against using this company as they have many different inspectors and you just might get someone who didn't know what they were doing. A valid concern, but I was very happy with how my inspector did. The official report was detailed and came very quickly after the inspection was performed. Mike also made himself available to answer a couple of questions after the fact. It was much appreciated. There were a number of items which he recommended 'further inspection' on by plumbers, chimney inspectors, etc. Annoying to some extent, as when you are buying a house you only have so much time with which to perform inspections and getting additional people in there within the time frame you have is tough to do. However, I think that is the industry standard as home inspectors perform a visual inspection of a entire home over the course of a few hours and a full diagnosis of any individual problem isn't going to happen alongside that service. I only bring it up as I found it to be a frustrating part of the service, but I think it is likely to be that way with any home inspection service. Price was not cheap - around $950 including termite and radon tests. However for good work on this size of a house I am not expecting cheap - so I give them an A on this account as well.

It went very well. The inspector arrived early, actually, and spent about 2 1/2 hours inspecting the house. He answered my questions, provided suggestions for solutions, and generally gave me good insight as to how to proceed. He updated me as the inspection proceeded (I walked with him so that I could see first hand what he saw, and to ask questions), so that I was not surprised when I received the report. I did receive the report promptly (about 2 days after the inspection - on the day after the inspection there was a significant snow storm which resulted in many business closings). The report was detailed and well organized.

A pleasure to work with. Very knowledgeable. Would use them again if I move.
