ValueGuard Home Inspection

I had Michael B. from Value Guard come out to look over a house that I am in the process of buying. He was at the house before me and was working away on the outside of the house. He was very friendly and willing to answer any question I had. He took his time and noted anything and everything he or I pointed out. I would uses value guard again!

They were very good. They explained everything. They have great customer service. The receptionist was very helpful as well.

Rick did a great job. He arrived early and began the inspection process before I even arrived. He was thorough and spent the time to explain why observed issues needed to be addressed. I went with them because of the high rating on Angie's List. They were really responsive, great customer service and were easy to work with. they did provide me a report.

I used Angie's List to find a home inspector because friends of ours had nothing but horrible things to say about inspectors they had used. After checking, I saw that ValueGuard had excellent reviews and grades, so I decided to call. Shelly was extremely pleasant and helpful, even when I had to cancel, then call and reschedule, then change the radon inspection, then get the report, etc etc (as you can see, they are also extremely accommodating!). We were in a really, really tight time crunch, but ValueGuard was willing to do as much as possible to see to it that we had our inspection and radon test done properly and timely. Even afterward, I was able to call and have our inspector Brad give me a price estimate for the work to be done- again, all within an hour. I would definitely recommend that anyone use ValueGuard. Also, with using the Angie's list coupon and the bundling option on their website, our inspection plus radon test came to $483 - pretty cheap!

We have used ValueGuard twice for home inspections and the experience has been great. Mike Bluestein is an exceptional home inspector. We can't imagine buying a home that he has not inspected. He is thorough and will get into every crawl space and tight attic to do a full inspection of the home. He is passionate about what he does and it shows. He delivers a high quality home inspection every time and his report doubles as a mantainence for your home. Overall, the team at Valueguard ---Shelley/Ralph/Mike --- are true professionals and a pleasure to work with as well. In additional to the home inspection, ValueGuard also scheduled our radon test and termite inspection.

As soon as they arrived they went about their task. The gentleman performing the home inspection informed me of everything hewas doing. The termine inspector was also very thorough.

Mike from ValueGuard took his time to explain things in a non-technical way. This was extremely important given the fact that we are first time buyers and heavily reliant upon him to find anything not obvious to the naked eye. His professional and friendly manner are a pleasure in today's world. We need more companies like ValueGuard that provide services like this and that care about their clients. I highly recommend them.

Cory was my inspector and he was prompt, thorough and very helpful as he provided explanations for any issues he uncovered....the writeup was finished on the same day and the process was totally painless....i highly recommend them!

Cory Shalaway, showed up early, started checking into things and making notes. When I arrived, the inspection went very smooth and very detailed. You could tell he totally cared and enjoyed doing his job. Overall very pleased with how friendly and professional it was.

I thought they did a very good job. I have very high praise for them and I would give them all A ratings. Exceptionally well done. I would absolutely use them again.

Mike Pistor was our home inspector for a property we were under contract for in South Jersey. He was punctual, thorough and provided us with an enormous amount of home owner knowledge ie where safety shut off valves were located, what we needed to do and how often we had to perform certain tasks in order to maintain/extend the life of the house from nuts to bolts. He was also very personable and easy to get along with which as we found out with other inspectors was very refreshing considering you are spending 3-4 hours with them and crawling around in dark/dingy holes its nice to have someone with a sense of humor! Most importantly he was very communicative about what he was looking at and why and spent time to show us everything he was documenting and how we could prevent certain issues in the future. He also helped us price out (estimates) of what all of the repairs would cost so that when the report came we could make an educated decision about whether we wanted to close on the house or not.

I used ValueGuard's online schedule request form and was contacted by phone within an hour. Radon testing & home inspection scheduled for approximately a week and a half out. ValueGuard immediately emailed confirmation, plus advance instructions for the radon test & home inspection. Joe was due to arrive at 9 with the radon test, but was delayed by his first client of the morning and called to let me know. Not a problem for me. Joe arrived and worked quickly, was pleasant, polite and informative while setting up the radon test box. Mike arrived punctually for the home inspection at 9 am and wrapped everything up and was heading out the door at almost exactly 11 am. He was pleasant and polite and ready to get started, after a brief explanation and initial questions about the house. My husband accompanied him through most of the inspection, answering questions and providing as much access as possible to all parts of our home, exterior and interior. (Joe returned to pick up the radon test box while the inspection was underway, and was just as pleasant and professional as he had been upon set up. The results of the radon test were emailed to us within 2 hours.) Mike worked carefully and thoroughly, and, during the time that I was able to observe, seemed perfectly at ease answering our questions and even educating us a little as he went. Mike promised that our report would be emailed out on a Monday; it was actually in my email inbox by 9 am Sunday morning! The inspection report itself did an excellent job of weighing what is common or "normal" in houses as old as ours is, versus specific areas of concern that a buyer's agent or inspector might highlight. Five hundred dollars *is* a lot of money, but we believe that Valueguard earned every penny of it and should be proud of the excellent rating and reputation they have acquired here at AngiesList.

Again, we contacted them recently for a roof inspection which is a service that they do not provide, but when we used them in 2010 for home inspection, we were satisfied. Mike explained everything as we went along and final report was thorough. Have been living in the home almost 2 years and nothing new has come up beyond the issues that Mike noted. Would use them again.

We contacted ValueGuard for a home inspection on a property we are purchasing. We were able to schedule an appointment that fit our needs. Our inspector, Mike Pistor, arrived promptly on the scheduled day and time. He was superb! Mike was methodical in his approach to thoroughly covering every aspect of the home. He answered any questions that we had and explained any concerns in detail. Mike spent 3 1/2 hours checking out the property..........unbelievable! I would highly recommend ValueGuard and especially Mike Pistor. .

In a word, they were flawless. From setting up the appointment to communication about confirming the date/time to sending instructions to our real estate agent, the office was fantastic and helpful. Then we met Michael Blustein on site (who was there early, by the way). He has already helped the radon inspector set up and leave, worked with the termite inspector, and had made it up to the roof and back all before we met him at our scheduled time. Mike then took as much time as necessary to go over every detail of the house, educating us on things that might be helpful to know and answering every single one of our (many) questions. He ended the experience by saying, "Here's my phone number. My contract with you ends when you stop calling me." And he means it! I called him today (a week after the inspection) with some questions and he took time out of his lunch break to give me detailed, clear answers. I wish I could rate them higher than an A, because I would!

ValueGard was amazing. The inspector spent about half a day going over every inch of the place. He pointed out every problem, potential problem, and maintenance point -- to advise us on the purchase and to give us guidance on keeping the home in great shape if the sale went through. He and the pest inspector found some serious problems, including a large termite infestation. They both spent a long time talking through the circumstances with us, ensuring that we had an understanding of what the findings meant for the possible purchase. We ended up pulling the contract and moving on. A big part of our discussion, though revolved around the extremely useful information and guidance we received from ValueGard. We have not yet found the house we are going to buy -- but we will call ValueGard again when we think we have it.

Mike was our home inspector, he was there early doing an exterior inspection before we got there. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions and showed us how various things work within our house. Fortunately, there were not any major issues with the home, but he was able to find many small items that I never would have known about. We received his report the next day. It was very thorough and easy to read.

They were prompt, detailed, and pleasant

The overall experience was great. Our home inspector was Michael Baltrush and he was already on site and working when we arrived 15 minutes prior to the start time. He was just finishing up the roof and walked us around the outside of the property before heading inside. Overall the entire inspection was 2-3 hours. He took the time to answer all of our questions and made sure to educate us every step of the way. He also gave us a list of items that we should ask the owners about for extra peace of mind. The final report was sent to us the following morning and was almost 30 pages long. It was very detailed and educational. If we ever buy another house we would use ValueGuard again without hesitation.

He was early by half an hour. He called to see if it was OK. Quickly placed the equipment and left. Came back on time to take equipment. Sent the data via his phone and received the report an hour later. They even offered suggestions of radon remediation.
