Company was super easy to deal with, and office staff was able to answer all my questions. Brad (inspector) showed up early, was very thorough. He reviewed each floor with us, and explained all the problems he found. Report was ready the next day and was easily understandable.

Reid was professional, personable, and very accommodating. The final report was prompt, thorough, and easily understandable.

Mike Bluestein was AWESOME! He met us 30 minutes early on a Saturday - we made an appointment 1 week in advance. He started with the exterior front and sidewalks. Then he inspected the back exterior and roof. He always climbs up on the roof and took pictures so he could show myself who remained on the ground. We then went on to the basement. All the while Mike looked at everything and explained why it was fine or why it wasn't fine. He was able to give us general price estimates and how big or small he considered a repair. He advised us if he would personally replace something right away or if a fixture still had a year or two of useful life left in it. He explained in depth about clues that give away moisture leakage and how firewalls work. I felt like I had been given a free class on home safety and general construction. My husband spoke with him for almost 25 minutes after the inspection and Mike answered every single one of his questions very thoroughly and patiently. It was clear that Mike scheduled plenty of time between his other job and was not going to leave until we were ready. The termite inspector came right away as well and did his work in under 45 minutes. He was very prompt and professional too. The only caution I would give is when you consider getting a radon test. We opted not to but it involves keeping the house sealed closed for 2 entire days, so if the sellers are still living in the house its pretty much impossible. We are first time home investors and plan on buying other properties. We will continue to use ValueGuard in the future and Mike if he is available.

Brad was on time and very thorough, explaining and documenting every issue, from large to small. He tested everything and gave very detailed recommendations. He made us feel comfortable buying the home.

Very professional and thorough. Priced a bit higher than other people, but probably worth it.. Little inflexible with the inspection report though. I needed a separate roof inspection report, but they said the insurance co. would not let them issue a separate roof inspection.

Our home inspector was Reid and he did an amazing job. He went through every spot in the house and took his time explaining everything to me as we went. It was a 3 story row home in the Fishtown neighborhood. It took about 3 hours to complete. We spent a lot of time in the basement going through several things that were concerning. He identified several things that needed to be repaired, and differentiated things that were not needed, but were recommended. It was a great experience. Punctual, professional, great value for the money. Would highly recommend this service to anyone needing a home inspection prior to purchasing a home! We also had the radon tested the same day, which took about 20 minutes to set up in the basement and we had the results back within a week. The full report from the home inspection came back about 24 hours later. Very fast turnaround for the amount of detail that was included!

Our home inspector was Mike and he did a terriffic job. He arrived promptly and was very thorough. My realtor had suggested that we not use them because she said that they had a reputation of being a knit-picker but tht is exactly who we were looking for to do our inspection. We could decide which items we would raise up with the seller, but I wanted to know all of them. The inspection took all afternoon to complete. We walked through every inch of our house and he pointed out even the most minute details. Our home was new and he also pointed out maintenance items we should pay attention to in years to come. Their price was a little higher but well worth it. I would definitely use them again.

Mike Baltrush was very impressive... even to my husband who is an engineer. He was punctional, professional and knowledgeable. Mike explained everything he was doing and what he was looking for. Mike spent a lot of time with us and answered all our questions and concerns. He pointed out many items we had missed. We feel he did a thorough job and are completely satisified with the results. In addition, we had our report in hand first thing Monday morning. Our inspection was Saturday afternooon. We would highly recommend Mike and would definitely use him again.

Very good service. In fact, the home inspector was kind enough to come back after the seller had fixed the issues to take a look at the repairs for us at no extra cost. The owner of the company also dropped in to make sure that everything was going well.

I made the initial contact with the company, left a message and I received a return call within 15 minutes. I also needed to change the date of the inspection, which was not a problem. I was not present for the actual inspection but my husband was there and he was thoroughly pleased. The inspector was on time and very thorough. There was a separate termite inspection, which ran just as smoothly. We received the complete reports within 24 hours. All interactions with anyone from the company were timely and pleasant. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone who needs a home inspection. We are both very thankful for at least one smooth transaction in purchasing a new home.

They were fabulous. I didn't have any problems with them at all. They were on time, little bit early even. He was very thorough, he took a lot of pictures and he explained things really simply to me. He walked me through the inspections and he wrote an easy to understand report. I was very comprehensive and very thorough. Everything was done on time the way he though it would be. It was exceptional for everything and I'd give them good grades.

The home inspection seemed reasonable at the time. Two years later the home inspection seemed like a complete waste of time and money. Our inspector Mike B missed so many huge issues. These issues cost us tons of money, and are going to cost us tens of thousands more. Simple things like our windows installed in a stucco wall being flashed incorrectly were not noticed, and not pointed out in the report. At the time we had no idea what to look for and trusted the wisdom of our home inspector. Big mistake. Two years later we have had many contractors look at our rear stucco wall and 100% of them say immediately that the windows were obviously installed incorrectly with no flashing. So we will have to rebuild a whole three story masonry wall at our own expense. Something our inspector should have noticed but didn't... did I mention we have a tile shower that leaks and leaked from the day we moved into our house. Did our inspector notice that? No... More thousands of dollars down the drain. Wish I had used a better home inspector...

They arrived on time. Very friendly. Explained how the process was going to go during the next 2 hours. They explained their findings after inspecting each area of the home. As needed they explained the code requirements and recommendations. The report arrived via email 4 days after the inspection. It was very through with a summary recommendation section, detailed section for each area and supporting photos.

They were right on time, and Brad did a very thorough job and explained everything he saw in plain english. Very professional and I would recommend again.

Keith, Brad and the entire crew at ValueGuard were fantastic. From the start, they were punctual, professional, and very informative in my Home Inspection and Radon Testing. Brad took me through every single room and every single notation he would be making about the house in his reports. He constantly asked if we had any questions and did his best to explain things fully without hesitation. I would recommend their services to family or friends in a heart beat, and I intend to use this company in the future if the need arises!

Our inspector was Mike P. He did a fantastic job! Though the weather was rainy, Mike still climbed up onto the porch roof to check out the condition of the main roof. From there, he could observe several problems that might have been missed by another inspector due to the weather conditions. Mike also had a great sense of humor, and was very personable. Even though the inspection took several hours, the time went by quickly because we were having so much fun. He took the time to explain everything fully, and was very thorough in his inspection. He found potential issues with the chimney, waste pipes, and possible asbestos in the basement, and recommended that we get further assessments before closing. The termite guy, Vince, was also great. He explained what he found (or rather luckily didn't find) and what to watch out for. Both Mike and Vince were happy to answer all of our questions. In the end, our deal fell through because the seller refused to address the issues with the chimney and waste pipes, but it was for the best. Now we are under contract for another (better) home and we hope to work with Mike and Vince again on the next inspection. I would highly recommend Value Guard!

The inspectors arrived ahead of schedule (which was fine by me) and begun right away. The inspector walked me through the entire house during the inspection. Being a first time home buyer he explained exactly what he was looking for and gave advice on proper maintnace and care.

David K. was our home inspector, and he was excellent! He was ready and waiting for me and my fiancé when we arrived at the property. From the start, he was a consummate professional. David took the time to comb through every inch of the house, pointing out items of concern and explaining them in great detail. He was very thorough and patient, answering all of our questions. We received an electronic copy of the report the following day, as promised, which contained explicit notes with David's pictures and annotations. All in all, I am very pleased with ValueGuard's service. You may find other home inspection companies out there that are less expensive, but remember: "You get what you pay for." He provided a REALLY thorough report, explained everything, and even came back for an inaccessible part later. The deal fell through based on this inspection, but that's why you have one, right?

Inspector took his time and covered all the bases. The price was lower than I expected and I feel confident moving forward with this home purchase after having this inspection. As a professional Engineer I can say that our inspector David B. was very knowledgable.

I booked Valueguard for our home inspection based on the reviews on Angie's List. From start to finish the experience was very professional and detailed. The receptionist was thorough and pleasant to deal with and the actual home inspection was incredible. Brad (home inspector) left no stone unturned. The inspection was so thorough that we ended up terminating the contract we had with the sellers. The home inspection probably saved us $60K in maintenance fees we would have incurred had we purchased the home without one. The inspection sheet itself broke things down into user friendly categories which made it easy to understand and easier to decide on a logical path to take. We loved the home...but the inspection proved that there was way to much "hidden" work to be done. We are continuing our search for a house and will be calling Valueguard for the inspection on that home (enough said).

He was professional, punctual, and very honest. The quality of the work was excellent. Very knowledgeable with what he was doing and made me very comfortable. He was really polite and courteous.

Like many others, I needed a home inspector and came to Angie's List. ValueGuard has consistently excellent ratings, so I gave them a call. I was able to schedule an inspection within a close time frame. The woman answering the phone took down my contact information and location of the home. She went over the prices and they are exactly as described on the website. I arrived at my future home 15 minutes before the scheduled inspection. Cory was already there, and had already gone once around the home. Talk about punctuality! Throughout the inspection, he answered all questions that my realtor or I had. He is very easy to talk to, and tried to take things down to my level (a total novice). I asked Cory about how many inspections he had done before, and he answered around 1,500. It is clear how experienced and thorough Cory is. He has a routine for each room he goes into. He wore a toolbelt full of cool stuff such as moisture and electrical sensors. I asked him about a possible loose floor board, and he immediately pulls out a marble to test the slope of the floor! That little thing really impressed me...he was prepared for anything. Cory took notes on his phone throughout the process. I am assuming he has a lot of things programmed in to make the report generation more efficient. He carried around a small notebook for other notes too. Cory took pictures throughout the inspection of areas that needed repair. These pictures eventually made it into the final report. The entire inspection took around 2 hours for a 2000 sq. ft. house, and I would estimate that we asked an average number of questions. After we left, Cory hung around a bit longer to work on the inspection report. The agent and I received an electronic copy of the inspection report within 24 hours of the inspection. The report looked truly professional, with a picture of the house on the front cover, major repairs listed first, safety issues, then a breakdown of each component of the house. The last few pages included pictures to reference. These could definitely come in handy when going back to the seller to request repairs. The radon guy, Joe, also arrived on time. He and Cory were both wearing ValueGuard shirts. Joe went to the basement to place the radon test, explained that it would need to sit for 2 days, and then I'm assuming he came back and read the test after 2 days. We received the radon report right on time. The report was pretty cool, with lots of graphs and information. The entire experience was really phenomenal. I don't consider myself easy to impress. These guys were excellent on all levels. Thanks ValueGuard!
