I had three new roofs replaced by them in 2017. Two of them leaked in 2018. They came out fixed one and couldn't find the cause for the other one and said the water probably from my neighbor's roof, but my neighbor does not have any leaks. The one fixed leaks again two years later. I called two weeks ago and was told someone would call me to schedule a time. After 5 more calls I haven't received a call from them. The company called me on 11/16/2020 to schedule a service on 11/21. They also mentioned that they were behind schedule due to bad weather and pandemic lacking of materials etc, which are reasonable excuses. However, I still wish they could have called me earlier to let me know what to expect.

Excellent response time from front office. I was kept in the loop on timing for this project. The estimator was thorough and there were no surprise add-ons. The installers did a great job protecting my property and did a magnetic sweep to make there were no stray nails or other debris left behind.

They stayed until the job was done, made sure nothing was missed, and continuously cleaned the property as they went along. My yard was just as clean as when they arrived.

The work was done in one day and I’m very happy with the results. I’m confident my leaking roof is now repaired the right way. Only thing that I would suggest to improve is to offer payment by credit card.

I had a leak in my roof so I called Universal Roofing. Joe and his team came to my property and quickly efficiently determined the issue. My roof was older and needed replacement. Joe made sure to document the damage and take his time to show me photos and educate me as to why he recommended a roof replacement. Him and his team were not pushy at all and he took extra effort to make sure I was comfortable with the decision. I reviewed the contract and made a deposit. Joe and his team came and replaced my roof two weeks later. They would have been there the following week, but the weather was especially bad (rain / snow). He completed the job in one day (2,700 sq ft house; 3 stories) and sent me photos. Overall, I found the quality of the work and pricing to be excellent. Had a GREAT experience with Universal Roofing. I initially called and set up an inspection/estimate and their rep, Jim, came out on the agreed appointment time - he even called to say he was on his way. I was concerned about maybe needing a rip up on the top roof but Jim recommended installing vents which effectively mitigate problems caused by existing built up roofing. Jim explained everything in detail and was obviously very knowledgeable in his craft and didn’t try to sell me on services I didn’t need. He estimated a price which maybe wasn’t the cheapest but I thought was reasonable for the quality, insured work I was about to receive. After providing a deposit, Jim was again very prompt in letting me know when the job would be scheduled. On the day of the job, Frank and his team showed up in the morning exactly on time. All the guys were very courteous and friendly and they accomplished the work without any problems. They cleaned up after themselves before leaving and Frank even showed me pictures of the completed job and explained everything that was done. He told me to not hesitate calling if there were any issues whatsoever and they'd be right out to address. We'll see how the roof holds up this winter but based on my initial experience I'd have no reservations recommending Universal to anyone. As a homeowner of 25 yrs dealing with incompetent roofers, I feel like I finally found a good one in Universal.

Jim came out and did the estimate. He was punctual, professional, and gave a fair and honest assessment. We had an active leak during a very rainy month and they were very responsive and flexible throughout the process. The company was great about working with our HOA and getting the necessary information over to them quickly for approval. They also took care of the local permits for us. They came out on time and did great work. They also did a good job cleaning up in both our yard and the neighbors' yards. Near the end of the job, our porch light got damaged from falling debris. They were proactive about sending someone over to replace it quickly and without any hassle. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

In all fairness I need to update a negative review I posted concerning on Universal Roofing. My experience was accurate.However after speaking with the companies owner who kindly contacted me I would like to add the following important information. There apparently was a temporary office employee that did not forward my requests for an additional quote. My sales representative never received my messages. Universal was my first choice of listed contractors because of there excellent customer reviews. I do believe there was a definite communication breakdown after hearing more facts. Had I not already contracted the job out I would have given the job to them the details.

They screwed it up the first time, but they fixed it.

Despite a bit of a wait to get on the schedule due to a lot of rain in the area (the only reason I gave them a B in responsiveness), Universal Roofing did great work. I had a few potential problem spots on a flat tar roof in Philly they pointed out to me as well as the one spot I knew was a small leak, and that my roof needed some routine maintenance. They fixed 3 roof vents, extended a downspout to the proper point, stabilized my roof AC unit, and silver-coated both roof areas. The estimator, Joe, was friendly and up front about cost. The crew showed up early, worked hard, and did everything we had talked about and kept me informed the whole time. As a young homeowner, it's always hard to know who's honest and who's not... this was a great experience!

Very well, although I did not like the material was offered for my roof . I choose the classic Black rubber.

As usual in an old house,when universal started the repair, there was some other damage and work needed to do the job right, the crew diagnosed the issue, dug right into the work and did the job right, there was extra cost of course but it was reasonable and the roof is now water tight and structurally better than it was before! Thanks, Universal!

They have strong expertise in flat room repair and replacement. Joe was great to work with - explained my situation and recommended what I needed to do immediately and what could wait. I feel confident that I have the best flat roof solution in the Philadelphia region.

I literally cannot say enough good things about this company. They do not cut corners. Everything from the initial contact, to the estimate, to the materials, to the labor to the service is top notch. Guys arrived on time and worked from start to finish. Request Frank, Eric and Haynor for your roofing needs. Not only did I fall in love but my neighbors did too. Upon completion, they showed me pictures of the roof but the highlight of the job for me was the new white metal capping. It is absolutely gorgeous as they have transformed my home!! I will only be using Universal and will be recommending them to everyone I know.

It went perfect. All repairs were made in a timely manner and our leaky roof problems were eliminated.

It was a great experience. From the first phone call they were nothing but helpful. Quick to come out and and the best price I was given. From start to finish I had no issues and the job was done in a timely matter.

Universal roofing were extremely professional from beginning to end. Jim,especially, went above and beyond with scheduling. On the Thursday morning of the initial free estimate, it was drizzling rain and I expected to get a cancellation call. Instead Jim was at my door on time if not a little early, however due to my roof being 3 stories, pitched and somewhat hard to access on a good day, and although he tried we both came to the conclusion that safety comes first. I was more nervous than him. I thought it would be a week or two wait for another appointment, but Jim was back on Monday, the next business day that I was available. I was even more anxious to fix my problem even with a temporary solution that day, as heavy rain was being predicted in the next coming days. I was also planning to schedule the work for a more permanent solution asap; thus, more cost. Some contractors would have gladly taken my money for a temporary fix that day along with knowing that I planned to also schedule and pay for the more permanent solution . This is were Jim surprised me, again. He suggested that if I could hold off the one day and if I choose to go with Universal that he would try to get me scheduled as soon as possible. Jim called that evening to tell me that I was scheduled for the very next day. Frank and crew was at my door shortly after 7am. All were just as friendly and professional. They got to work right away and even while working Frank answered any questions that I asked, and also took pictures and showed me what they were doing, while work was in progress, and the completed project. They were finished, cleaned up, and packed up by approx. 10:30am. Although, I did try to educate myself on the pricing of the job the evening after the estimate( had 3days to cancel) and it was at the high end of my repair budget, I can't really give an opinion on the pricing as I could not find anything to compare it to. However, seeing the final product and the amount of labor that went into it, I was okay with it. I also appreciate that the personnel working in the office passed messages along in a timely manner. I had called atleast two other roofing contractors to get estimates around the same time I called Universal. One never responded to my message. The other I had to call them to ask were the estimate was, and when I received the estimate via email, it read more like a list of can do and did not list the specific problem of my roof. That is why I appreciate good communication. Thanks again to all at Universal Roofing.

Work was just completed, so unable to provide long-term review however, the roofers were timley (they showed up on time and it was completed in less than a day), respectful, and very accomodating of my work schedule.

She quickly made an appointment for an estimate and followed-up with a confirmation phone call. Helen even returned one of my calls when I had a question. Jim came to my house as scheduled, on-time, for the estimate which included a $75.00 coupon from Angie's List. Frank and his crew did the work, as scheduled, on-time and I'm very satisfied with the job they did. Everything happened within a few days. I had a short list of items needing repair/inspection and they happily came out to assess and provide an estimate. I believe their recommendations were fair and well informed. They were up front about "optional" items that did not need immediate attention, but were good for me to be aware of. No hard sell/upsell at all. Work was done neatly and in one trip. Was really happy with the experience. Felt that they were a company that I could trust.

From start to finish I had nothing but a positive experience. Everyone I spoke with was professional and helpful. Everyone I met with was informative and gave me options which I truly appreciated. They were always on time. On the day the roof was replaced they showed up on time, were very professional and cleaned up everything before leaving. We were very happy with the end product. Great company with great service. I would recommend them to anyone.

I contacted Universal to obtain an estimate for replacing several skylights on my roof. We had our roof replaced by another company a couple of years ago. Scheduling was a breeze and they were able to confirm a same-day appointment. Jim was on time - he was actually early and had called to ask if that was OK. Upon arriving and learning more about my situation, Jim was upfront that they may not be the best provider due to my roof having been replaced by another company. He pointed out that, at best, it could cause finger-pointing in case there is an issue in the future, or at worst may void the warranty on my roof... Which makes complete sense in hindsight. Jim gave me a ballpark figure on what skylight replacement may cost, so that I have an idea when discussing with the other roofing company. Although they did not perform any services (other than providing an estimate), I would not hesitate to use them in the future. They were courteous, professional and honest, which I greatly appreciated.
