Showed up 10 minutes early which was fine with me. Took pictures before and after work was completed. He even offered to help my neighbor shovel snow. I do need a receipt of work performed. He had a family situation come up. This in no way impacted his quality of work which was excellent.

I had major damage to the interior of my home from a progressively worsening leak that came from all the snow storms of winter 2013/2014. Universal came out to diagnose the issue. I talked to 5 other companies before Universal came out. Even though they didn't take on the project I will say that they are the most thorough and honest roofing company I have dealt with. They diagnosed the problem, offered realistic solutions, and told me what I could expect short and long term from each option. There are many roofing thugs out there who will come out and offer expensive fixes and take your money, and still leave homeowners with a persistent problem. Universal is a refreshing change in the murky Philadelphia roofing market. I would recommend them to any homeowner to diagnose your issue.

I had a leak on a flat roof that all the other roofers I called said that it had to be replaced. Jason came out and said the roof was in good shape and it did not need to be replaced.His crew came out the next day and replace the box. I tried to give him a tip and he refused it. Great company! I will use them again, and I have referred them to my neighbors.

Once the permit was issued by the township, Universal started on time. The crew was short a man the first day and we expressed some concerns to Jason about whether the details of our job were properly communicated to the crew. Jason came by the next morning and reassured us that all of the work would be completed as specified. They finished up that day and the job looks really nice. The crew was professional. They were very careful with our property and plantings and cleaned up perfectly-- I did not find a single nail or piece of debris after they left. I feel that while we paid top dollar for the job, it was done right and no corners were cut, so we got what we paid for. I would recommend this firm to anyone and would use them in the future.

Re-roofed a room addition that was leaking. Used rubber roll roofing due to shallow pitch. Replaced rotten plywood and chimney flashing, added drip edge. Sealed seams with hot tar. Price was very competitive, did not try to sell more work than was necessary. Good quality work, 12-yr guarantee.

The roof over our bay window on the first floor of our home began to spring a leak after one of the heavy rains this summer. We had never had any work done on our roof after buying our house a little over a year ago. After looking up several contractors and reading some reviews we decided to go with Universal Roofing. From the moment we first met them to the finished product we were nothing but happy with their professionalism and candor. Just as a caveat the only reason we gave them a B on responsiveness was because they had an extremely busy summer due to all of the heavy rain. They gave us a heads up at the beginning and made every attempt to get to us as soon as possible. We understand this and that it was not their fault so many roofs decided to spring a leak this summer. Our most memorable moment was when the job had wrapped up. The crew on the day of the replacement had finished their work and had packed everything up, but noticed something was wrong. They unpacked the truck so that they could fix the problem. The problem.....was one shingle was a little bit longer than the rest and they unpacked to cut it to make sure the shingles were uniform and the roof looked perfect. They could have just left as I am positive neither me nor my fiance would have noticed. This speaks volumes to their professionalism and pride in their work. I called Universal one morning after finding water leaking through a bedroom ceiling and was first surprised when they sent someone out to my home within a couple of hours. Joe inspected my roof, took pictures on his iPad to show what needed to be done, and was very thorough in explaining not only where water was coming in but where other areas needed some attention. I was convinced that whatever company I called would be making a sales pitch for a new roof (as ours is almost 20 years old). Instead, the first thing Joe told me after inspecting the roof was that it was in very good shape. That alone was quite impressive. The actual repair and maintenance work was done within just a few days and the cost was exactly what was quoted. I have since recommended this company to friends who are looking for a roofer.

From the beginning of this process Joe, owner at Universal, has been extremely responsive and punctual. Joe never missed an appointment, he made time to explain things to us, made suggestions and then left the decision making to us. There was never a hard sell - just gave us the facts regarding materials that are available, provided us with an estimate and then let us decide. Once we made the decision to move forward Universal took care of obtaining permits from the Township, scheduled an installation time that was convenient for us and stayed in close touch as that schedule needed to be adjusted due to inclement weather. Once the rain stopped and the roof dried off Frank, site supervisor, and his crew arrived on time on the day planned. The got to work quickly, were extremely careful to tarp over the exterior of our home and took every step necessary to remove, then install and clean-up in a professional manner. There are little things, extra steps that mean so much - like taking the time to clean and paint pipes on the roof to give the whole project that freshly installed look. We are very pleased with the quality of the roofing material that was used. We opted to go the extra mile and choose the best because we plan to have solar panels installed atop the new roof. We have total and complete peace of mind that the roof will serve us well for years to come. Universal is a certified installer of the product that we chose - the guarantee is fantastic. Universal's crew were excellent. There were six men and a supervisor - we were assured that the job would be done in a day and it was. The supervisor even worked with us to drain and clean out a section of ceiling that was collecting water (the original issue that prompted the roof). We appreciated the extra set of hands! The crew ran magnets and visually inspected the perimeter of the house multiple times because we have dogs and they wanted to ensure there was nothing around that would hurt them - again extra time and effort - it means a lot! Joe was very friendly when he came by to give me an estimate. Though his review included photos and was fairly thorough, his estimate seemed very informal. I had to write down all of the details? he had no write up to offer me?and he seemed to be making up numbers on the fly as I pursued various options with him. When he learned that I was pursuing estimates from other companies, he immediately listed reasons why it was risky to go with a different company. I'm sure Universal Roofing would have done a satisfactory job. However, in the end, their prices were not very competitive, and their warrantees were not as extensive, so I went with a different company.

They were punctual and professional. They cleaned everything up well.

Everything went exceptionally well, the job was completed in the time scheduled and at the price quoted. I had one issue with a gutter that had not been replaced but one phone call to Jason, the owner, had the problem fixed within three days. Joe, our first contact, was professional and polite and we were impressed on how much he knew and how everything was presented to us. Lea, in the office, was always responsive and got back to us promptly whenever we called. They made us feel that job was important to them. Wanna sincerely thank everyone at universal roofing and siding for doing such an amazing job on my roof and absolutely thrilled about my new skylight yay so excited i can see clearly thru my glass now most important no more leaks, i called universal roofing and spoke to a woman by the name of leah,i spoke to her told her told her i had a flat roof with several different areas leaking, she was wonderful she explained to me that they specalize in flat roofing and shingles, we set up a free estimate with one of there salesman joe, i explained to leah that i work and could onlybe home early in the morning before 8am or late in the evening after 6pm due to my work schedule, she explained to me that would not be a problem, we set up a 7;15 am estimate, sure enough joe was there on time as promised by leah, after speaking to joe for a few minutes i felt completly comfortable and let joe in my home and showed him two rooms where my leaks were coming in my house, after showing him the leaks we spoke for a few minutes then joe asked me if it was ok to go on my roof and find out where the leaks are and why, he also told me he was going to take picturesof the roof on his ipad, i was like really, after coming back down off roof joe did exactly as he said he would, he was very knowagable and explained to me detail for detail what was wrong and what needed to be done, from there we signed contract set up a schedule date for my roof work to be done, i asked joe if i should take off work the day my roof was going to be installed, he said no not if you dont want to, that he would come back and take more pictures on his ipad after the work is complete, true to his word he did, wow is all i can say what a differnce between before and after pictures, the morning of the job before i was to leave for work a gentleman by the name of frank knocked on my door and interdouced himself' he told me he is the foreman and asked me if i had any concerns, and if he could set up his equipment in the back of my house, he was great, thank u so much universal roofing, thank you so much leah, joe, and to frank and your entire crew you all made my roofing exprenice painless and actually quite easy.

Seemed like a first class job. Joe, the sales rep, was personable and professional. Laid out various options to address my roof problem. He took pictures on his tablet to illustrate his points. I chose the more permanent fix, new materials and warranty. They did the job a week later, during the heat wave, to give their workers a break because it was a relatively small job. Fast and professional again. They took me up the ladder and let me inspect it. Frank, the foreman, seemed very knowledgeable. Good job. I would call these guys again.

After providing an estimate, we decided to work with another contractor.

They came when they said they would. Worked very hard. When I thought I was hearing a small leak, I called. Jason was here the next day and applied the patch.

Service was excellent, the operator taking the work order over the telephone was very polite and courteous, knowledgeable and helpful as well. Service was promptly scheduled for fixes to some damage to the roof of my home, which was causing some leaks. Workers showed up earlier than scheduled and were friendly, respectful and polite. They even rented the dumpster to discard the waste from the project without my having to do so, leaving their workspace better than it looked before they got there.

My roof had developed a leak around the flashing and I could see the giant hole from inside the attic. I called Universal Roofing and advised that I needed flashing repair. I also mentioned that I wanted the remaining flashing around two chimneys, three vents, and an attic fan inspected for damage and repaired if necessary. In addition I wanted the sat-dish removed and a cover replaced on one of the chimneys. Joe came out the next day. He discover that the roofing around one of the flashing was rotted. It was on the lower roof and I inspected it myself only to learn that Joe was absolutely right. I wasn't about to go to the upper roof and I made that clear to Joe. A dishonest contractor could have easily told me that all the flashing I wanted inspected was bad and had to be replaced just to pad the bill. But Joe is an HONEST man and told me that the other three stacks, the two chimneys, and the ceiling fan flashing were all fine. We hadn't discussed price yet but that was the moment I knew I would hire Joe and Universal Roofing. I work in the insurance industry and while I don't do the repairs myself I have a very good idea of the cost of such things. I had already figured that Joe would tell me between $1,200 and $1,300 for the repair. Instead Joe gave a cost of $900.00 which included the AngiesList discount and an additional $25 discount for being retired Army. Because I work in the insurance industry the thought of dealing directly with a contractor gives me the hebbie jeebies, but dealing with Joe and Universal Roofing was like a Sunday morning breakfast chat with family. I'm four or five years out from replacing the roof altogether. I know already that I'll call Joe because he's the only roofer I'll ever let up there.

The experience was great. Joe came out and gave us an estimate which we thought was adequate for the work that needed. They came out on the day they gave, and worked the whole day. They cleaned up all the debris from the old roof. We are very satisfied with their work and will use them again.

They were excellent. I am very happy with the end product. The price did go up a little because of an unexpected damage that could have not been forseen.
