This is Shirley's website: [*** Link removed ***] Shirley told us that she could start on a Friday and would be done on a Sunday (2 days). This was not accomplished. She was still in our home a full week later. She told us we'd have the results on a Tuesday, but when Tuesday rolled around, she said she had "submitted the dust results too late" and we had to extend our time at the rental property we were staying in temporarily. She submitted dust samples from our home that "passed," likely because she took samples from places she knew were cleaned. When we reentered the home, I found several areas covered in construction dust that she had missed including areas near the stairs where we had had the work done where the lead paint was mishandled. Shirley was confused about what happened in our home and kept stating that our home had passed despite the fact that she had not taken samples from near where the work was done originally. When we kept telling her she was on the job in our home due to a mishap, not just due to crumbling infrastructure in the home, she kept getting confused about it and forgetting, reminding us that all homes built prior to 1978 likely had lead paint--we KNOW! Further, she insisted we had not agreed that she would clean our items, only our furniture, walls, and floors, which the city agreed to do for us FOR FREE (except for furniture) because we had small children with high lead levels in their blood, but we felt that we knew we needed someone to wipe down our items (especially children's toys and books but really all items). She did agree to do so when we told her we could've gotten that service for free. When I pointed out areas to her that were obviously still covered in dust, she would continuously blame the people in her crew for poor work. The worst of it is she assured us it was safe for us to reenter with our children and I found several areas COVERED in dust, including walls, ledges, and personal items. When I confronted her about this, she again blamed her crew. The second day she was doing work in our home, our cat got out and trapped under a car. We had asked her about whether we could leave the cat in the home, concerned about his exposure to lead as well as their acknowledgement /ability to keep him inside and she had indicated this would be no problem. Additionally, when I came to the house to see what work had been done on Sunday, I found that she had left the sliding glass patio door not just unlocked but OPEN. Thankfully, we did not have any unwelcome people enter our home, to my knowledge. When I confronted her about this, she blamed the people in her crew, again. Further, he seemed to only be putting in about 4 hours of work per day, coming to our home around 11am and leaving between 2-4pm, which may have contributed to why it took her so long to "finish" the job. Additionally, she was difficult to reach. Her phone was "broken" and she would continuously call us for no reason " Did you call me?" Finally, on the last day she was in our home, she left the front door and back door unlocked. In all, we spent 8 nights out of our home, 6 of those nights due to her taking so long to complete the job.
Description of Work: We had a contractor mishandle lead paint and levels over 100X what was considered safe were all over our home. We have two children, one of whom is only 9 months old and crawling, so we needed to hire someone to remove the lead dust. My son's blood lead levels were so high that the Philadelphia Health Department was alerted to our issue. Shirley assured us that she could handle removing the dust.
