Just disappointed, I have used Reiter in the past and liked them, I called them up last week to come out for an estimate and exactly remember them telling me they would come out on Tuesday Sept 29th for the estimate and I said perfect because I work from home on Tuesdays so it worked out great. Well I get the call on Tuesday telling me they would come out on Wednesday Sept 30th for the estimate, I told the women on the phone that was incorrect that it was for this day. She told me no it was for the 30th, which was definitely incorrect so, I told her I cant do the 30th, so she rudely tells me she will call me back next week to make another appt. Forget it, I don't want to wait another whole week for you to call me back to make another wrong appt.

We have had a very difficult time scheduling around the Papal visit, and apologize for the mistake. We were not sure when the roads would re-open or what we would be able to accomplish. It was a clerical error on our part. The only reason that Michelle in our office said she would call you the following week was that she was under the impression Tuesdays were the only day of the week you were available. We tried to contact you several times by phone after this review, but we could not get you on the phone. Mistakes happen sometimes, and we are sorry for the misunderstanding. If you change your mind please call us and we will get you on the schedule for whatever day and time work best for you, if not best of luck, and we hope you will reconsider us in the future.

I called them several times to address persistent leaks from rain in the rear of my house. They replaced the downspout and made a minor repair to the capping, but leaks persisted. They stated that trees were directing rain into my house and that their were no issues with roofing, and suggested tree work of nearly 1K in cost.I then hired an independent home inspector to find the sources of the leaks. He discovered that the new downspout had never been sealed to the house and multiple gaps in the flashing that needed to be sealed, as well as large gaps in the window seals. These were not easy to miss items. The 'old' Reiter Roofing that I used several years back would have found and fixed the problems and would never have left a downspout unsealed, and would not have suggested unnecessary work. I misplaced my trust in these folks, and based on the poor quality of their recent work, I can't recommend them. It's a shame that the quality of their work has declined-- 5 years ago, I would have said I was a customer for life. No longer.

In troubleshooting a leak, we need to start with the obvious things first. We only replaced the downspout, because the seam on the back of it was open, probably from winter time ice damage. I am not sure what you mean when you say that the downspout had never been sealed to the house. Downspouts are connected with mechanical fasteners, no mastic or sealant is used in this process. We recommended having the branches trimmed back from the house, because they have continually clogged the drain, and as a precaution against this, the standard recommendation is to keep all tree branches at least 10' from the facade of the building. It is a little unfair to blame us for the cost of the tree work, we are not a tree company, we were only suggesting something that we felt was in your best interest. We try not to "sell roofing work", meaning that we try to keep our approach vector for a problem as basic as we can to solve the issue. When a drainage system is not functioning correctly it needs to be addressed. Often a drainage issue is the cause of many other problem like your window leaks. We are sorry that the leak persisted, but we were only trying to keep the cost down and recommended what we thought would be best for your property.

The job was well done except that the roofers dented my roof edge with their ladder -- despite the fact that I instructed them how to avoid this with padding. Consequently, the roofers had to come out a second time to repair the edge, which I appreciate them doing.

The person on the phone when I told them the days I'm home was just started in with how problematic it was to specify a day / days the worked for me. It got worse, then I was interrogated that there must be a way to access the roof from an inside window. When I explained not comfortable with that option. I also pointed out the roof that it could be accessed by LADDERS either in the front or the back. I explained it was street access to the person and it was easiest just to Google a birdeye view so they could make the determination check out the roof either front or back. Got a through lecture on why it's inconvenient and just easier to have them go through the home! Obviously, row houses in philly can be tricky - however if it was this problematic to schedule an estimate. I can only imagine how hard difficult scheduling maintenance for the next 10-15 years to keep a within the 'warranty' rules... Plenty of A listers on Angies list. Calling my friend to see who she used on her mom's house.

When a customer calls us, there are certain things that we need to ask in order for us to not waste our time, or yours. We are sorry you felt as though you were being interrogated. Our office staff was only doing their job. It is costs a lot of money for us to be able to provide free estimates to our customers. We don't schedule exact dates, because the weather makes it nearly impossible, but we try to be accommodating. We always ask if there is a way to access the roof from inside, if we can avoid having to put up a ladder, we do, for the safety of our men. We asked about access, because there is a fence across the back of the property. When we asked whether there was an alley behind the property and the answer we were was given was, "why don't you just google it, i don't know the street name". Our customers know their properties better than google, or we do, we just wanted information about the property, our requests were not I am sorry things didn't work out, but please understand that the information we asked for was only for us to be able to do our job as safely and as thoroughly as possible. We wish you the best of luck with your property.

First off, the woman who answers the phone is completely unprofessional and rude. I spoke with her after receiving my estimate to confirm my approval, but she neglected to file the work order and therefore it was not put in for my house. After not hearing back for a week, I called back and spoke with the same woman (even though she played it off like it wasn't her) and she tried to place the blame on me and the "hundreds" of work orders they have, rather than apologizing for the oversight. Next, once I did finally have a date and time frame set for the repairs, the time frame comes and goes. I called the company and spoke with the gentleman who confirmed the appointment with me who said one of the contractors could not make his appointments today, and that he "completely forgot to call" me. Call me crazy, but if you own a small business that makes large appointments for very expensive work, wouldn't you have some kind of calendar with all that information? So if an issue comes up, you can call your clients, apologize, and reschedule? I am now finding another company to repair my roof. This whole process has wasted three weeks of my time. I would not recommend using this company for any roofing repairs because of the sheer lack of professionalism and organization. Funny how a small business can be so incompetent at running a business.

I called yesterday to have someone from Reiter evaluate a leak, and I scheduled for a time this morning between 9am and 10am. The person they sent out, Charlie, arrived within that time frame. He quickly found where the issue was, that it was caused by some of the bricks not being repointed near where the first floor addition's roof meets the original brick wall. He said it was an easy fix, that he'd grab some caulking, and fix it for me for free -- since it was only a minor issue. He was very professional, explained the issues, and let me see for myself. I had previously made a hole in the ceiling where the most water was coming in, and I saw light from where the issue with the bricks was. After he did some caulking, I no longer see light coming through -- hopefully meaning that was it and all's good now. I'm going to keep an eye on it, but if something else unexpected happens with my roof I'll definitely be giving the folks at Reiter a call.
Description of Work: Charlie came out to check out a leak, and he found that it was some cracked mortar where the bricks meet a first floor addition's roof that was letting water in. He added some caulk to those areas for me. I didn't have roofing services done, per se, but I will be calling them for any roofing needs I have in the future.

As usual, the job went great. The crew showed up, as scheduled, around 9:00 Am and were finished about noon. They did a nice job at a reasonable price. I have used Reiter Roofing numerous times over the past few years for roof repairs, solar attic fan installation, and downspout repairs and installation. They have always showed up wham scheduled, completed the job very professionally, and at a reasonable price. I would recommend Reiter Roofing to anyone in Philadelphia, PA. Thanks Barry.

Barry, Steve and the team are super fast and responding. Sometimes when they are dealing with a million calls after heavy rains you have to be patient... but that's life right? They always follow up when they say they will and are very knowledgeable and kind. Roof leaks are STRESSFUL. I have used them on three houses, on three roofs. They don't always get it right the first time, because sometimes they were dealing with old problems and you have to figure those out. But they kept coming back...And that is priceless. Love these guys.

This was one of the weirdest encounters I've ever had with a company. I'm still puzzled about the whole experience. I had an inspection last summer (2014) and received an estimate on part of the roofing job promptly, but a different crew needed to come out for the slate roof that was high up. This is where the problems began. They did show up (after numerous calls on my part) but never sent me the estimate. After more calls they determined that it had been lost. Many months were spent (fall into winter) trying to get another estimate. In the middle of winter I get a call that they want to come out and do the work. But I still didn't have an estimate! They called a couple of times with a crew ready to come and do the work - once it was below zero! 1) I don't want a crew working in sub-zero weather - this doesn't seem logical to send guys up on a roof in the dead of winter and 2) I never did see the estimate!!!! I don't understand how Reiters expected me to approve having the work done without knowing what they would be doing or how much it would cost. Given the number of reviews the company has, my experience must be unusual - and I truly wish it wasn't mine. Work that I intended to have done before last winter is still left undone and I have to find another company and get another estimate. I really tried working with Reiters and did everything I could on my end to make this happen - short of climbing on the roof and doing it myself. It seems to me that because the mistakes and all the mix-ups was Reiter's, my roof job should have been given top priority in order to "make it right", but no one from the company ever made an effort to do so. I don't give poor ratings lightly, but, in this case, it seems fair to me. :-(

Hi [Member name removed], I just check our email server logs. The email with your estimate was actually emailed to you on February 20th of this year. I also looked in the computer system and it looks like it was typed up and mailed on December 8th of 2014. I'm not sure why you haven't gotten the estimate. But we would still like to be able to do this job, if you are interested in having the work done. Please email or call us if you would like us to do the job. I will hand deliver the estimate if you would like me to. We don't take these things lightly, and we assumed once we hadn't heard from you that you had gotten the estimate and were not interested.

After dealing with other roofing companies that simply wouldn't show up, I finally called Reiter to get the job done. I don't know what took me so long! I called for an estimate to repair some gutters. I made the call on May 5th, 2015 and they said someone would be out to look at the gutters and give me an estimate by May 8th. I did not hear from anyone so on May 11th I called them back to see what the situation was. I left a message and still have not heard back from them, today is May 15th. I consider this to be unprofessional and thoroughly lousy. I would not recommend a company that can't even give you a call back, let alone keep an appointment for an estimate.

Everything was great, from the estimate to the follow up. Reiter was the only bidder willing to take down and reinstall our balcony railing as part of the job, which made my life easier. They were also honest when we were discussing options for a deck replacement, recommending a product but suggesting I do the work myself since it wouldn't be worth the time/cost of a roofing crew. The crew was friendly when they came out, made some on the fly diagnosis that I think will improve the roof's long-term prognosis, and replaced more rotted wood than expected without charging extra. They have also been responsive to follow up questions. Good stuff all around.

I called for an estimate on my roof for a leak. I left a message, as the roof was older, I told him I didn't know if I needed a repair or a new roof. I did not get a call back until 3 days later. We agreed on a date and time and that he would come to look at the roof and give me an estimate. He did not show up or call to reschedule. A week later he called and said "I should have been there last week". No apology or explanation. He told me when he could come out and I told him I would not be home. He said no problem, he would come out anyway. I asked if he needed to come into the house to see where the leaks were ( the other contractors I called for an estimate, wanted to see where the leaks were), he told me that he did not need to come into the house. He told me he would be at the house at 8 AM. I was not home when he called me at 5 PM to tell me he was at the house. He told me that he would call me the next day with an estimate. That was 3 weeks ago. As of today I have not heard from him. I would not recommend him to anyone.

They did a great work. It was done last year about end of summer or beginning of fall. There only two problems I had: 1) It was since it was a small job, and had to pray that it would not rain until the the job was done. It took weeks. 2) They did it without payment, but that was a problem. I told him & emailed my credit card number several times each & he kept saying it doesn't work. The whole time I was using the card many times a day. I believe at the time they state they credit cards, but I can't believe that the card didn't work. I sent them a check & they complain that the bank was taking too long & I misspelled the name. I sent them showing when the chk was sent from the bank, but he was still upset. I told them that I would resent it, which cost me $26. Just after I canceled & resent the chk they got the canceled 1. I then sent a copy of the chk info for 2nd chk from the bank.

This is my first negative review on Angie's List. Reiter Roofing's initial work was very sloppy, the two pieces of downspout were jammed together to create a longer piece and dented where pushed together. In addition, the downspout was not secured to the wall (as stated in the estimate), and was angled hard away from the wall to reach the Y for the sewer line. When they finally repaired the work, the guy that did the work said that he thought it looked pretty bad when they initially did it, but that's how his boss told him to do it. They fixed it by adding two elbows that are jammed together in the same way as the two initial pieces, angled too hard, and doesn't quite fit into the Y. It doesn't look great but looks better than their first attempt. Seems like they just tried to do it as quickly as possible with little regard for how it looks.

We are sorry to hear that you're not happy with the work. We will send someone out to correct it. The reason that the spout was angled away from he wall was that the stand off pipe for the sewer is out too far off the wall. The spouts only come in 10' lengths, so they will need to be done in pieces, as well as the elbows, but we will send a more senior staff member out to make the repair. Sorry for the inconvenience.

After an extensive (exxxxxteennnnsive) search for a roofer who knew what the heck they were doing with an old house (100 yr old victorian), I was about to hire a diff company who were gonna replace old, rotten box gutters along the back of my house with aluminum external gutters. Evan came to give me an estimate and instead of the old "oh those box gutters will cost 20,000 to replace let's just do the easy cheap thing", Evan said, why would you compromise the integrity of this old home and put something on here that wouldn't have been used when the house was built. He really understood and loved historic homes. We discussed budget and he assured me he would come under. After 4 months of searching for a roofer he convinced me to trust him with this big job. He then proceeded to deal with me an extremely courteous, professional manner. The amount of questions I asked was borderline absurd. He never once made me feel stupid or annoying. It took a long time to actually get the work done (mainly because of the bad winter weather and ice that stayed on the roof for a long time) but once we got the go-ahead it went along smoothly. Chalie and his team tirelessly worked to completely rebuild my century old box gutter. I was amazed my chalie's work ethic and passion for carpentry. He really knew what he was doing. I was assuming to see them taking breaks often but, honestly, they barely stopped working on this project. When they removed the old eaves and soffit and saw the large amount of rot they knew they had a bigger job on their hands than they imagined. Chalie never once took a short cut. He explained everything he was doing along the way. He even took pictures of the whole project for me. In the end Evan made sure, even with all the extra labor involved in reconstructing the gutters, he did not overcharge me and get exorbitant with costs. The experience was worth waiting for and I would use reiter and chalie and Evan again jan heartbeat!

In the past two and a half years, I have used Reiter Roofing and each time they have been helpful and professional. it is often difficult to get a roofer to replace a gutter after it has fallen due to bad weather. Most roofers will not do small jobs. Reiter has been prompt in returning calls, prompt in looking at the problem and prompt in fixing the problem. And, they are so nice!

I have been trying to get an estimate for 2 1/2 weeks now. The first time the guy didn't show up and didn't call (I took off of work to be home) I called their main number and was told he was too busy to come by. The dispatcher (?) said that they would be out a few days later and go on the roof even though I would not be home. I have called 3 times since to get an estimate and have been told that the person who did the estimate has not shown up for work yet, and would call me when they get in. I want his job if he hasn't shown up for work by 10am. At this point, even if he is several thousand dollars cheaper than another estimate we have, we will NOT be using them as they have been unreliable and frankly, unprofessional. All contact I have had with them has been initiated by me.

Contacted the company to schedule an inspection. They gave me an approximate date and notified me thay would call again within 24 hours to schedule an exact time, which they did. I met the contactor at my house where he inspected the damage and climbed to the roof. The contractor supplied pictures of the issue and explained the work needed to me, I also asked for a seperate quote for other unrelated roof work needed. When I received the quote in the mail, the quote was combined as opposed to seperate as I'd originally asked, but upon emailing Reiter roofing they were able to provide an updated quote within 30 minutes and send that quote to me. I opted to only have the original issue fixed so they scheduled a date and again said they would contact me within 24 hours of said date to let me know. They followed through with that, fixed the issue which has not reappeard, and mailed me the final bill. I did not immediately receive the bill and again contacted Reiter to see if they could email it to me, which they did almost immediately. Great communication, and prompt responses to all of my questsion. Also the issue was resolved.
Description of Work: Fixed leak in roof. The issue was an improperly sealed vent. Also installed thick layer of fibered aluminum silver coating to entre roof surface
