I called and spoke to Jason on the phone. I submitted information of what I needed moved. He emailed me an estimate for the move of $650. I called him back since this seemed very low. I pointed out I'm asking for a move out, a ten day storage, and then a move back in, all to be handled by his company. In a day or so, he emailed me a new estimate, this time including the storage. Total estimate was $850. I confirmed the move. Moving day: Four guys show up on time. As soon as they walk in they begin groaning about how much stuff there is, the foreman says something like, "Oh, this is going to take longer than we expected." He said this very quickly, almost before looking around. And I know I estimated I would have 50 medium sized boxes and wound up with more like 80 medium sized boxes, but everything else in the place was on his list of items. "I have to call this in to the office." They started moving, he called it in, and the new total was going to be $1400. This actually seemed like a reasonable fee for moving me out, storing for 10 days, then moving me in. I agreed and asked something like "this is the total cost for all your work?" Yes. Fine. Move out, no problem. Move in day. I am scheduled for a 1:30 move in. At 11:30 foreman calls and says they can't make it today until much later because their move out this morning is taking much longer than expected. In fact, with traffic, he explains, "we might not get there until 6:30, and you'd be paying extra for us to sit in traffic." I already paid you, I say. He says, "You paid us for the move out, not the move in." Then he tells me that I'll have to take it up with his manager, who he will have call me. Well, can you move me in tomorrow, I ask. No, we're all booked up for Saturday. Well, you were all booked up with me today. "We can be there Sunday as early as you want us there." How about 9am. "No problem. I'll have the manager call you back to confirm." His manager never called back. And me, in between houses, couldn't find their phone number. Sunday morning, 10am, no movers. I find the number. "Oh, we have you down for a 3pm move in." I won't be here then. "Monday morning is the earliest I can give you." I tried negotiating a discount with the manager, but he didn't want to talk numbers. "You'll need to talk to my supervisor." But he wouldn't give his name, and wasn't in the office. Move in day, take 3. Movers arrived and had me finished in 90 minutes. They were courteous. They had broken about five glasses and a ceramic pot. Then I noticed a missing drawer pull, the foreman told me they had put in in one of the drawers, and then they left. When I looked in all the drawers, no such thing. When negotiating price, the foreman said the manager would call back to speak with me. He never did. Move in price, $640.
